Melia Las Dunas: OK Resort

Check In went well however had lots of issues with our Toronto departure on Air Transat. We received rooms as requested in a good location close to pool and lobby. Pool, pool bar staff and pool recreation staff were all great. Room had air conditioning issues that were not addressed and fridge was poorly restocked. Food is food in Cuba but their current trade problems are creating some shortages ie no pizza or french fries at any of the snack bars. Buffet was typical, some staff were very good a [... read more]nd some were lazy, general cleanliness could have been better. There was always a shortage of clean glasses and spoons for some reason. Beach buffet with grilled meats was always good and best place to have lunch. A la Cartes were better but not great. Entertainment was the same every night with same dance group, just different costumes. Mojitos at the lobby bar were the best. Sand and water in Cuba are fantastic. Not sure if it was just the weather while we were there but the water was very rough and difficult to swim in especially for children. All in all it was good vacation, beach and long bus ride from airport make this a one off as I wouldn't return here. I've been to Cayo Coco and Varadero and I will certainly return to Varadero the next time in Cuba.

Paradisus Rio De Oro: Great vacation!

We had a great time at Paradisus Rio de Oro. We went on the recommendation of family members who have been vacationing there for at least 6 years. We had a wonderfully relaxing time. I cannot say one negative thing about the resort. The room was great; the bed was very comfortable. We enjoyed the buffet, the pool restaurant and the beach restaurant. Melia Las Antillas: Good value

The resort was nice. There is one pool and there was lots of seating and cabanas so we were able to have shade when needed. There is a bar right by the pool, and there were some activities each day by the pool. The beach was very nice. There is a bar close enough to the beach to make it easy to get a drink - but I would recommend bringing your own refillable cup. The rooms were fair... we had some issues with one of the rooms we booked and had part of our group moved as a result. The location was great!

Paradisus Princesa Del Mar: Conflicted: some good, some bad

The beaches were out of this world, honestly felt like a postcard. The drinks were outstanding. And some of the staff I.e Luis were incredible at their jobs. Other staff members...not the greatest. The lifeguards didn’t seem to take their jobs seriously and one was in the ocean making out with a woman while on duty for about 30 mins. Highly unprofessional. Additionally on our last day, we had a late flight so we were given a courtesy room for 30 mins to change in after spending the day at the beach. I loved the idea of this, but when I got in, there were dirty towels on the counter and no fresh ones. The courtesy room was not cleaned before allowing new guests in there. I thankfully still had my beach towel that I was able to use but was uncomfortable in this used room. The food was just okay but the buffet was inefficient. The popular food stations had large lineups because of the inefficiencies. And most food items didn’t even have labels indicating what the dish was. When asked what certain items were, the cooks had no clue. For breakfast there was a vat that I assumed would be oatmeal, but every morning it was hot chocolate. Nothing bad about it, just odd that at breakfast there is no oatmeal/porridge but a large vat of hot chocolate. Ultimately the highs of the beach and the lows of the room and food bring my rating to a 3. Would I go back? Maybe. Maybe not. If you are going, keep your expectations in check and you will surely have an okay time.

Melia Las Dunas: Great Vacation

Very nice resort This was our first trip for my wife and myself to Cuba The weather was wonderful the hotel and the people were very friendly and considerate. The food was good and they tried to offer a nice selection. The room was kept very clean and the mini bar was always stocked. The maids did a very good job. The ride to and from the Resort was a little long but it gave us a chance to see the countryside. We will be returning to Cuba !!

Melia Cayo Coco: Amazing resort!

Resort was fantastic all-around. Excellent service. Excellent food. Very well maintained grounds. Beautiful beach. The rooms we had were spacious and clean, although we did hear from other travellers that their experience was not the same. However, when they raised their concerns to staff, they were moved promptly.

Melia Jardines del Rey: Good resort

Had a great week at Melia Jardines Del Ray! The staff were amazing and the beach was breathtaking. The hotel maintenance staff were constantly fixing minor issues around the hotel and cleaning the grounds. The mosquitos are terrible at night but we brought cig spray with us. The hotel sprayed around the main lobby three times during our stay which drastically decreased the mosquitos at night time. Was a good vacation, we would go back!

Melia Marina Varadero: Disappointed

Thanks to Felicia to arrange the studio apartment at a higher level, quiet and facing the marina....just loved the apartment. Only comment about the apartment is when, towards the end of our 10 day stay, on several nights, the sheets not completely dried, in fact, quite damp which led me to sleep on the sofa..... Having been at Melia Marina several times, we were disappointed about the food compared to previous visits. One of the local Cubans mentioned that food rationing has been a concern e [... read more]specially with the problems in Venezuela where much of the food is supplied to Cuba. Maybe this was the reason..... Re Gym facilities, we love our daily workouts; however , disappointed that 2 of the 3 stationary bikes didn't work properly and flexibility/stretching on the hard floor of the gym due to lack of mats. There also seemed to be a bit of an attitude change with some of the staff....perhaps due to the status quo of the economy. All in all, thoroughly enjoyed the pool area and fantastic beach where one can safely take long long walks!!

Paradisus Princesa Del Mar: our april getaway

we stayed at the Paradisus Princesa Del Mar from April18 to April 25th and had a wonderful week. We upgraded to the royal service and very glad we did. The staff are super friendly especially our favorite ladies at the pool bar Kassandra, Anna Rai and Marlen ...we so enjoyed seeing you ladies every day. Also Felix at the towel exchange ...he is so nice . we were heading to the beach and my hubby broke his sunglasses so Felix being a sweetheart told my hubby to use his glasses( you go above and b [... read more]eyond my friend) . The hotel and grounds are very clean and well kept up . Our only issue were the mosquitos , which we never had a problem in the past 5 years going to Cuba . I will now always pack spray. Our favorite ala carte was the Japanese ...delicious and very entertaining. If you are thinking about this resort go ahead and book you will not regret it. If you like more action then book the regular side but for more quiet go royal. See you again Princesa.

Melia Cayo Santa Maria: Beautiful beach & grounds

Excellent: Beach and pools were clean. Lots of palapas available (3 rows). (Hotel 50% occupied). Great: Entertainment - Cuban musicians and dancers. Most staff were friendly. Rooms - Rooms were big as were the beds and good air conditioning. Food - Highly recommend Tex Mex restaurant where a bit of spice was experienced. Great fresh fruit as well. Fair: Rooms - need some TLC/paint would go a long way. Electrical outlets didn't always work (one came out of the wall) and our  [... read more]phone didn't work, even after requesting a fix, it remained out of order. Broken drawers/or closet door but easily worked around that. Food - very little in way of condiments so if you want mustard/ketchup/hot sauce highly recommend bringing your own. Often did not have menu items but did substitute with others where available. (e.g. beef burger substituted with chicken burger). Overall it was great value for what we paid (trip was May 6/19). Not my first time to Cuba but my first time to this area. The beach rivals Varadero. I was somewhat surprised at the limited amount of English understood by many staff but we were certainly able to get by without issue. There was always a lovely breeze at the beach which kept the bugs at bay. Last day was still and mosquitoes were out in droves - make sure to bring repellant!

Melia Cayo Santa Maria: Very Nice Resort!

Older resort, but well maintained. Our room was close to the pool, so we were central to everything...maybe a 2 minute walk to the beach, restaurants, or lobby. Will definitely go back to this resort. Rooms: Very clean, and didn't see a single bug in 14 days! Food: The beach grill was really good...the pool bar was also really good, but lots of birds around/on tables. The buffet was adequate, but nothing to complain about. Pool: very nice and great service Beach: Amazing!! Lot [... read more]s of lounge chairs...didn't have to get up at the crack of dawn to get one. The gentlemen looking after the chairs were pleasant and helpful. Also, there were fresh towels everyday...never ran out. Spa: Great service...really enjoyed the massage. Entertainment: can't comment...only attended one show. Excursions: can't comment...didn't do any excursions Money: We exchanged our money at the hotel. Next time i will take more cash with me, as there was and additional fee to use credit card at the resort, i.e. spa. Also, on another trip, we had to visit the doctor and it was cash only. Luckily, my friends are always more prepared than me:)

Paradisus Los Cayos: Love this resort!

Paradisus Los Cayos is a beautiful, clean and modern resort. Wonderful assortment of pools and entertainment. Beautiful beach too. The food is good, and there is a good choice of restaurants. Really enjoyed the entertainment team and the friendliness of all the people who work at this resort. The service is excellent! Would definitely come back!

Melia Las Antillas: Good Value Resort

Located on beautiful Varadero Beach. Grounds are beautiful. Well maintained by the gardeners. Rooms are comfortable. Bathroom could use an upgrade. The maid cleaned the room nicely and always provided fresh towels and linen.

Second time in Cuba, first time to Cayo Santa Maria and I was completely mesmerized with the beach and how clear the water was. ABSOLUTELY GOING BACK TO THIS BEACH! The resort was bigger than I thought and we very grateful for the golf carts there to help people get around. The food was good, and we especially loved the Mediterranean a la carte (Columbus). Drinks were good and bartenders always keeping people refilled, the grounds and landscape were very well maintained and clean, and we found o [... read more]ur beds to be very comfortable. Staff were very pleasant and willing to help. A few things came to mind though: there were no regular patio chairs around the pool area... only the reclining ones. Some people may have difficulty getting down and up from these low chairs, so I think a variety by the pool and beach would help accommodate all ages and physical abilities. The day time entertainers/activity groups were ok... I've had better at other resorts in the sense of games at the pool and their interactions with the clients. The few that did engage in conversation with us were friendly and pleasant. The games at the pool seemed to drag on and if no one participated they staff seem to simply play music with no back up plans or substitute. Overall my daughter and I enjoyed the resort and would go back again!!!

Melia Jardines del Rey: Beautiful Resort with Amazing Beach

This resort was beautiful. The layout was perfect, everything was close. The pools were unique in their layout, and the swim up bar service was above grade; all the services were great. Our room was very clean as well. No complaints at all, hospitality wise or other. We went mid May 2019, which meant that the resort was only running at half mass, but was still great. The entertainment was good, but the resort was fairly quiet given the time of year we went. We did a night at the cave nightclu [... read more]b, and went next door to the disco (which was conveniently located if your into going dancing, 2 min walk). Food wise, there was always plenty to eat. Freshly made chicken, pork, beef for every dinner; along with pasta, salads, potatoes and rice, etc. Always broccoli and squash, beans, ham, cheese, etc. Lots of desserts too! The ice cream bar was an added bonus. Breakfast was always the best meal in our opinion though, the french toast and omelettes were delicious. And the beach... saving the best for last.... was AMAZING! The water was shallow for a long way in, warm, crystal clear; barely any waves. We never had to save a beach hut or stress to get one. 10th time in Cuba, and one of the best beaches yet! Strong 4 star rating.

Melia Las Americas: Presque parfait!!!

C'était notre 2e visite. Nous adorons ce ressort. Le golf à 5 minutes, en bord de mer, la nourriture est excellente, la mer turquoise, propreté impeccable, une animation impressionnante! Il faut juste refuser la chambre 2408 qui n'a pas d'isolation avec la suite d'à côté où une famille s'est installée à 3h du matin... Ils ne devraient pas louer les 2 en même temps.

Paradisus Princesa Del Mar: Wonderful experience

My husband and I chose to spend our second honeymoon at this lovely resort. Our room was spacious and clean. Our bathroom had a large soaker tub. We had a very comfortable balcony. The pools were very nice. The beach gorgeous. The food was delicious; fresh seafood always available! And cooked to perfection. We really enjoyed the a la carte restaurants. And the bars never disappointed. We would recommend this resort to anyone.

Paradisus Rio De Oro: Best Cuban Resort

This was our 30th Anniversary so we wanted to try find a higher end resort, Parisus Rio de Oro did not disappoint. We stayed in ocean view junior suite, was perfect, outdoor shower was a huge hit, this was a beautifully kept hotel and grounds with fantastic food selections. Added bonus was adult only we will be back and understand why people return here Year after year.

Melia Las Dunas: Had a very nice holiday

This was my first time in Santa Maria Cuba.. The resort was very nice, everything was clean and well organized. Our room was located in block 29 which was very well located , close to the buffet, lobby and beach. Our room was on the second floor has requested and very clean. The cleaning lady did an excellent job cleaning and restocking our fridge with water, pop and beer. The beach and ocean was just beautiful. There is lots of palapas and chairs for everyone, no need to reserve your chair [... read more] early like other place. The water is cristal clear and very warm. The beach is also very nice to walk on. At night the lobby was a very nice place to go and listen to different band and preformers,really enjoyed the atmosphere of the lobby at night and also the excellent cappuccinos. For the food I have to say it was lacking. There was not mush variety,always the same for every meal, but you could always find something to eat and what they had was good. Really enjoyed my trip and maybe I will return in the future.
