Playa Pesquero: Wonderful holiday.

We have been to this hotel a few times, but not since 2013. Very pleased to see continuing improvements. Our room may have benefited with an update, but room was always clean, lots of hot water and towels, and wonderful housekeeper. Buffet had variety, great vegetables and fresh cooked fish, shrimp, beef pork and chicken. If you could not find something that appeals to you, you are not looking. Playa Pesquero: Very Good Resort

Very good service. Pool area was beautiful and clean. Beach was beautiful. Food was good. Lots of different choices for food. There was lots to do around the beach and the nightly entertainment was very good. Beautiful lobby area. Rooms were very clean but could use some updates. Would certainly recommend it.

Brisas Guardalavaca: Varied, Interesting Place

We stayed in the Villas which were a distance from the constant booming of the entertainment of the pool. That's for the young folks. It was a wonderful place. Large grounds, well manicured and beautifully appointed. The menu leaves something to be desired and it was plentiful but needs tweaking. Overall, something for everyone.

Brisas Covarrubias: Consistent, Clean, Comfortable!

Good amenities, great staff! Although our room was a little dated, it was clean, a good choice of food (buffet, grill, a la carte), nice beach and pool....nightly entertainment if you want to take part! Note: 2 hour drive from airport and over an hour from closest city

Paradisus Rio De Oro: A solid B

Overall a great stay: The beach is gorgeous (a strong riptide), the pool area is very nice and the people friendly. The rooms are rundown and the food is clearly from frozen or canned though. Solid B.

Sol Turquesa Beach: If you get a deal

Beautiful resort on a small beach. Lots of chairs around beach and pool. Evening entertainment is really good. Lots of stairs and walking. Rooms in 400 block were big, clean and close to pool. The food is the same for every meal. Lots of lines in buffet. Ran out of butter one day, bread another, pina colata, lemonaid..... If you are not a picky eater, like to walk and do stairs and get a good deal, this is a good trip.

Club Amigo Atlantico Guardalavaca: Amazing Resort

I have booked with Karlos Chareza with Trip Central 1 800-665-4981 ext 7320 Great guy. We have return to this resort 6 times. First week of Dec and the last week of Feb. Have been in many places in Cuba. We have found our home in Holguin Guardalavaca Club Amigo. The best experience is being with all of the locals. We always book the tropical seaview rooms ( second floor). We have taking lots of friends and family with us. Which all of been return guest. Have book lobsters and chicken  [... read more]dinners. For 20 CUC (includes taxie) with Rudolph ( lobby bartender, his wife works in the gift store on the resort) EXCELLENT MEALS for dinner. We love this resort and always will return.

Playa Pesquero: Nice resort and location!

Everything in this resort was amazing and we had a beautiful vacation! The only thing that we didn't like was the terrible noise we had one night from the next resort. Otherwise it was perfect, relaxing and a happy place.

Aston Costa Verde Beach Resort: Ok Resort

Service is good- the stuff is very responsive and friendly . Beach near resort is crappy : green murky water , lots of stones and sharp corals , ocean smells like a toilet ,but if you walk 300 meters you get much better sandy beach. If you come with kids , expect a lot of nasty smokers all around who smoks non stop - the beach should be devided by smokers and non smokers . The food is the worst : Breakfast - Lunch and Diner Are almost the SAME EVERY DAY. Nothing taste good - they need an improvement They reuse the food from breakfast to lunch and from lunch to dinner . The different restaurants that you reserve separatly are not good - same food from the regular buffet but from a previous day. They try to ful you with food : Lobster bisque is actually just cream soup , scallops are not scallops , squid is not squid , crab is not crab - so horrible tasting food ... The only positive food we had was at one of the restaurant where they actually did serve a real Lobster - but the only for plus people . There is a poor choice of fruits or vegetables . DONT DRINK TUB WATER!: we got poisoned by the water they gave us because they put ice there from tub water and they always lie to you that they didn't ! -- if it smells like MOLD - Don't drink it !!! Watch they pure it right from the battle !!! The rooms are nice but dated . Mattresses are not good - uncomfortable ! We enjoyed every night life piano . The look of the resort is nice and well groomed . We would not come back to this resort . We would 3 star it .

Sol Turquesa Beach: Made some memories

I found that the rooms were nice and big with balconies.We were in the 400 n# rooms which was closer to all amenities than some locations. The resort is a bit outdated with some sign of wear and tear. The beach is nice but not very big. I find the shade a bit lacking. The food at buffets was not bad but not that good.For the' A la carte', I found that the Italian restaurant was the best tasting. It also has multiple pools, but we rather go to the beach. There are also excursions you can partake such as taking a 57 Chevy for a country side ride, going to a bat cave, boating ,snorkelling and more. The staff is wonderful and are grateful for gifts and tips. Live entertainment every night makes it a good end of a day. It is certainly not a 5 star and it's pushing very hard to be a 4. I would place it in the 3.5 star

Club Amigo Atlantico Guardalavaca: Home away from Home

This was our third time to this resort. It feels like our home away from home. This time though things didn't go completely perfect. On the first day there went to adjust the shower head and behold it broke off in my hand. That really wasn't the issue. The problem was it took them until day 3 to replace it. Parts of the resort are under renovations and there seemed to be some things moved around. For the most part the three of us (wife and daughter) had an amazing time. Club Amigo Atlantico Guardalavaca: You either love it or hate it.

If you are looking for a place of luxury, a room with a balcony, a lobster every day, look elsewhere and in a different price range. If you are like us, who appreciate everything close by, a terrific beach where after a few steps you are deep enough to swim, where you can swim even when the waves in Varadero are two meters high, because this beach is sheltered by the coral reef, then this is the place. There are several private restaurants around, with a beautiful view of the whole bay, where you can have a big lobster for 20CUC, much better than in the hotel restaurant.

Third visit to this resort and just keeps getting better. Food selection and quality, decor, friendly staff. Was very impressed! Amazing pool and beach - always loungers available. Will definitely return!

Sol Turquesa Beach: Lots of walking

We stayed at memories for a week. There was a lot of walking. The food was on par for Cuba.The most amazing part of the resort was the people. From the maids to bartenders to wait staff they were all amazing.

Brisas Guardalavaca: Nice Resort for an older facility.

The resort was clean and well kept and the staff were friendly. The grounds received constant attention and the rooms, although in need of some maintenance, were kept clean and tidy. The dining facilities were clean and well serviced and the food was good by Cuban standards. A la carte restaurants were easy to reserve and the food was of a high standard. The beach was clean with white sand and some coral outcrops and the sea was clear and warm. Not much to see in the immediate vicinity outside the resort but trips are available to Holguin (1 hour) or Guadalavaca to see local life.

Sol Rio de Luna y Mares: Good value resort

We enjoyed our stay here. It was a bit dated but so clean with 2 great pools(one lively, one very quiet) and lovely beach. Staff friendly and accommodating. One of best selections of food on buffet, especially varieties of fish! Two very good beach restaurants for lunch and best 24 hour snack bar ever. Animating team lively and encouraging. Entertaining musical groups, singers, in patio area, Various vendors every day selling crafts etc. Hotel itself offered short daily excursions, something ne [... read more]w for us, reasonably priced. Fun guests, too!

Playa Pesquero: Amazing resort

The resort was beautiful in every way,was very impressed with the cleanliness of the rooms & especially the washrooms! Staff was always friendly & ready to help out with anything we needed.We had a relaxing time,which was our goal from the start.If I had any complaints it would be that there should be more areas of shade on the beach,plus the entertainment was little to be desired.I would recommend this resort to anyone who is looking for the experience of a larger resort.

Club Amigo Atlantico Guardalavaca: Not as good anymore

Third and last time at this resort. It is one of the oldest resorts on the island. The standard rooms are the old Army Barracks, the main hotel is the Tropical Section. Pay the extra $$ and upgrade to the Villa or the Bungalows, you'll thank me. B een to the resort 3+ times. It was a good resort but management has changed in the past 2 years and not for the better. The Food and Rooms seem to be getting worse. The employees aren't as happy anymore (from a returning travellers point of view [... read more]) not as many workers anymore and management expecting more out of what they have. Service has gone down. The main hotel swim up bar is where most of the action takes place, downside... it gets closed often (contamination) as people sit and drink all day, without going to the bathroom... Go to the big square pool or the 24 hour pool, or the hidden gem, the bungalow pool. Best food at the resort, 24hr bar. It does have one of the best beaches and ocean sights.

Sol Rio de Luna y Mares: Beautiful beach

First time in Cuba. The resort was compact, easy and quick to move from one venue to another, such as the foyer, bank, pool, restaurants, bars and beach. Lots of things to do. Yoga on the beach, ecological tour just off the resort, windsurfing, paddle boats, kayaks , entertainment every evening, off resort tours available and local crafts available for purchase on the resort.

Club Amigo Atlantico Guardalavaca: Very Nice resort

Beautiful resort, NIÇE welcome, friendly workers , amazing pools ! Good music, super hot ! Lots to do , good shows good FOOD ! Would go back . We stayed AT the TROPICAL SEA VIEW ! and we did have a gorgeous view , close to everything . THANKS Kevin Dupuis for your services !
