Dhawa Cayo Santa Maria: Great Resort!

Overall, my mother and I had a fabulous time! Our room was clean and spacious, food and drinks were free flowing, the staff were wonderful, and the beach was gorgeous!!! Only thing we would have liked to see more of is changing the variety of dishes served day to day. The buffet seemed to have the same food day in and day out but we could always find something to eat.

Valentin Perla Blanca: some good some bad

I will try to be fair as my tastes are different now that i'm older . It's Cuba so the food was not the best the wine also even in the al a cart resturants nobody stuck to the rules on dress (payed good money over new year for a nice dinner with the wife ) they closed the resturant and had a buffet style it was not that bad but not what I was looking for . Staff really friendly its a big place all spread out lots of walking . They have a bank at the front desk Cuba Peso about $1.50 Cnd and everybody looking for tips so maybe get some smaller coins at the bank . Rooms for us were spotles clean exept phones not working (for golf card pick up ) as I have walking trouble . Change my room no trouble , entertainment was good , beach was great see staff at the beach for Hobbie rides they were very good , No diet coke EH! cuba libra not so much but pinai coladas really good it's a shame about the food no need for such poor turn out I know the management will say thanks for the time and bla bla bla trying but they are not really how can you screw up breakfast ? . put some more effort in to the system and more staff on the fresh stuff less on the door. OK over all we had a great time with the staff and beach and weather , don't bother with snorkell stuff the beach guys will help you out . Try the double decker bus 2 peosos each way little market to visit buy your booze at the airport on the way home . long list of stuff but if you can get here for under $12000.0 its worth it Dave

My happy place for the third time but a horrible rude encounter with the female Cuban Manager because I expected late check out privileges as in the past....I will be writing a detailed account to the general manager on a later date.

Dhawa Cayo Santa Maria: Everything you need, Great resort!

We really enjoyed our 7 day stay at Dhawa. The grounds were lovely and maintained. The food was abundant & decent (we didn't lose weight on vacation!), the snack bar was lacking...but, it was something if you were hungry. The drinks were not weak and were made well. The beach is gorgeous and well maintained. The pool is a good size and kept clean, my only complaint would be that the music is far too loud at 9am, when you're wanting to chill by the pool...after 11am, would be reasonable. Our room [... read more] was modern (Beds were comfy), clean and kept up daily. The staff is amazing, they work extremely hard and should be tipped well. Getting bottled water was a bit of an issue, one large bottle per room is not enough. However, you can get a glass of water anywhere on the resort or fill up your water bottles.

Resonance Blu Santa Maria: First trip to Starfish

Our 6th trip to Cuba, we found this hotel little outdated however rooms were clean everything worked well, staff was amazing , very friendly and interactive. More than any of the other resorts. Variety of food was lacking however always found things we enjoyed. Beach was amazing , the cabanas were awesome offering lots of shade. Pool was great as well. My only complaint was the public rest rooms. They needed attention. This was the common complaint amongst other tourists.

Valentin Perla Blanca: Very nice resort

This was our second time at this resort. We had a great time last year and the same this year. The food was not quite as good as it was last year. They run out of bread and milk a few time. But there was lots of other choices. Run out of white wine for a couple of days so we drank red wine with our meal, not a big problem at all. She is super friendly and very knowledgeable about everything about the resort. It is worth booking the privlage package just to meet her. We will go back next year if our health allows. We heard some people say there was nothing to eat and they were starving but you get that in every crowd. They are the same people that would have to complain about a meal even if it was the best meal they had ever eaten.The al la carte restaurants. Spanish, Italian and French were all excellent. The lobster dinner if you booked the privlage package was also great. The waiters and waitresses were all great in all restaurants and at the large buffet. Hope to see Ailys next year if we are able to make it back.

Melia Las Dunas: execellent location

This is my second time to this lady location, Hotel is clear and service excellent...food good... drink and beautiful beaches... valuable package highly recommended for weekly package is the best choice ,

Gran Muthu Cayo Santa Maria: Awesome Resort

Grounds of hotel was amazing! Lots of bars, great size pools, great night entertainment, and awesome staff! Rooms were good! The only downside to the rooms were the pillows(too flat) so hard to sleep. The a la carts were amazing and buffet for breakfast was great but dinner not so much. All in all great hotel and service!

Melia Las Dunas: Well manage resort.

We had a great stay at the Melia. I was up early most days. Beaches were raked daily in the morning. The gardens and the staff that ket the the grounds where alway so cheerful. Frank was our favorite. Our room was amazing. Clean clean clean. Thank you Melia and all your staff ... Would defiantly come back. Bob and Shari.

Playa Luxury Cayo Las Brujas: Very disappointing food

The hotel is beautiful, the grounds impeccable, the staff is very accommodating, the beaches are fabulous, there is very little walking involved in getting anywhere on the resort, but the food is a huge disappointment. There was no bread for 2 days in a row and spotty throughout the week which meant no pizza, sandwiches, hamburgers, pastries, muffins, toast, etc. The buffet was sadly lacking in variety, any meat was tough, the specialty restaurants were a bit better but small quantities. Iberostar Selection Ensenachos: Great Vacation

This was our first time in Cuba and while I can't say everything was perfect we would certainly not have any reservations about returning to this lovely resort. The beaches were spectacular with fine sand and plenty of room for lounging or walking, whatever you want to do. The food was not always exceptional but it was plentiful and we could always find something to eat. The room was extremely large and the cleaning staff kept everything in top shape. We did not do any of the offered excursions and the fact that the resort is isolated was just perfect for relaxing. All in all an excellent vacation.

Hotel Roc Casa del Mar: Good resort

Great staff, good service. Nice and clean hotel but there is a problem: on the last day at resort, we saw a cockroach in the bathroom. We also saw a cockroach on the bus when we were on the way to airport.

Hotel Roc Casa del Mar: Never again

Spend one week at ocean in Santa Maria Cuba it is a beautiful resort but really under staffed with 800 hundred rooms and only one bar it is hard too get drink unless you have money in your hand always running out of food drinks towels it is not good Had are towel stolen from are chairs at the pool when left for 10 min but will say the beach was beautiful

Memories Paraiso: I would give 2.5 star

Not what I expected., food was mainly pork, beef dishes chewy, no phones,,working. Hall way lights, stand up light not working, telephone shower, the fridge not working. Changed the room, 3 times. Food had mainly pork dishes. No accommodation for , non pork eater.

Melia Las Dunas: Loved every minute of it

We found this hotel to be lovely and clean. Bright airy huge lobby with friendly bartenders 24 hrs at the main bar. Entertainment was excellent every night with many different options for a la carte restaurants. Resort was neat and well looked after. Pool area was beautiful and we never had a problem with finding a lounger. No having to reserve at 6 in the morning. Beach loungers were plentiful as well. Beautiful beach area and shade available if needed. Beach bars and restaurants were awesome.  [... read more]People were amazingly cheerful and always willing to help make our stay the best possible experience. The offsite excursions were good as well. This was our second stay in Cuba and the people did not disappoint.

Iberostar Selection Ensenachos: Beautiful relaxing resort

This was our third visit to this resort. Nothing bad to report other than the lack of wash clothes, peanut butter and breads. I will certainty go back. The staff is amazing, the grounds are beautiful and the spa/adult section is peaceful

Valentin Perla Blanca: Beach was by far the best thing about this resort

The amount of cleaning & grounds staff is not adequate for the size of resort,they work very hard to do the best they can. We have never stayed at a resort that was so unclean.example:mirror nor dresser,end table’s & table not cleaned at all,beach towels not exchanged all week.Toilet seat is not the correct size to fit toilet the light bulbs not changed so you could actually see in the bathroom.Italian restaurant ceiling fans were absolutely disgusting!! Food was actually good for our first 4 days of vacation till they were running out of everything including pasta,bread,they were literally using what ever they had left to make meals. Now let’s get to alcohol they ran out of white wine,rose,champagne,vodka & beer on the beach. I would never have rated this hotel a 4 & 1/2 star hotel,nothing above a 3. We have stayed at several 5 star hotels else where down south & this hotel does not even come close. We had not been back to Cuba in 22 years as we were not happy with hotel & food then,we thought we would give it a try again as we wanted a reasonable priced get away from cold,booked 2 weeks ago.I definitely understand why this hotel was abundantly available. I will never come back to this hotel!! I do love Cuba’s beaches they are beautiful & the people are lovely. I think we would try again if we could find a true 5 star clean hotel. Very disappointed from!!

Gran Muthu Cayo Santa Maria: A REALLY NICE RESORT

We were there Jan 25th to Feb 1st and the weather was just right. The service was great although it's hard to get a hold of the front desk at times. We called once for maintenance when the air conditioner quit and without exaggerating the repairman was at our door no more than 15 minutes from when we made the call. I'm going to have to call it "My Bad" since I was unaware that the AC will stop if the balcony door opens....whoops...lol. You could always get something at the buffet if you weren't picky and you'll find it very busy on the weekends. Things got a little quieter from Monday on. The pools were excellent as well but you'll find parents let the kids go nuts around the adult swim up bar and it gets quite annoying having them jumping off the stools beside you, some got a nasty word and look from the barmen, the parents didn't care, they were on holidays and apparently it was up to everyone else to babysit for them. You might not see this review if they can't remove what I write next. A word on travelers that come to this resort; 80% French and yes, they are more arrogant and self centered while on vacation. An example, a Frenchman while in the buffet stood up, slammed the table and demanded his water right away, the place went silent. I'm glad I'm Canadian and brushed it off as a poor upbringing. 10% were Russian, no need to explain if your a traveler and 5% were German, same as above and 5% were English speaking. In other words, the French have found a place to call their own and treat it that way. Now with that little rant out the way I must say the resort itself it worth the effort to get there, it's around 2 hours from the airport depending on the time of day, it would seem longer in the dark. The causeway alone is 48 miles long and you pass through a couple little towns as well. It's a small airport and gets very crowded and you must use the portable stairs to get on and off the plane from the tarmac. Again the service and people who work there are very helpful and polite and will always say "Hola" when you pass. The beach is fantastic with plenty of banyans for all, even 4 lounge chair banyans, you will have no problem getting one no matter the time of day you go. There are two beach bars and the one further down the beach provides Pizza's and they are excellent. All in all I totally recommend this resort but speaking French would be an asset. Another note on pools, there are 3 pools and after the second day we stuck to the kiddie pool, it was much quieter with all the kids up at the swim up bar and even the kiddie pool has a bar; I recommend the Spanish Coffee, the servers and wonderful and it closes at 5pm but no Spanish Coffee after 4pm. The booked restaurants were good but book early, they fill up fast. We were in the 18 block and it's very close to the kiddie pool, the beach and lunch buffet (beach and buffet were right across from our room and the area is quiet). They roasted pork two days of the week and started cooking early in the morning and it was ready for lunch. You gotta try it, tasted great and I went back for seconds on both days. So, if you don't mind the bus ride, the French this is a resort to really consider. We probably won't go back but we really have nothing bad to say about the resort itself; had a great time and came back relaxed.

Dhawa Cayo Santa Maria: We love this spot

This was our second time to this resort. We enjoy everything about it. It did not disappoint. Good food, nice beach, pleasant staff, amazing lobby entertainment, lovely pool. Thanks Dhawa. You may see us again next year.
