Marien Puerto Plata Hotel: Great Hotel

A lovely resort. Not too big so everything very close. Pool is wonderful with sloping entry which makes it very easy for children and people with disabilities to enter. Staff very attentive and followed through quickly on any requests. Great sandy beach but water a little murky and quite a lot of garbage floating in it - sea very warm. Enjoyed long walks along the beach early in the morning, before it got too hot.

Paradise Playa Dorada: Ok RESORT HIDDEN COSTS PROBLEMS ON ROOM

JUST CAME BACK DEC 3RD AFTER ONE WEEK. Did not meet room requirements, had to change rooms 2 times finally got reasonable room after arguing at Reception for 2 hours. Still did not get what we paid for Superior Gardenview Room not on ground floor, the first room we looked at the balcony looked onto a Tennis Court, this was not Superior Room, the second room was on ground floor looking onto a BAR with tables and chairs, not appealing, JOANNE at Reception did little to cooperate to help  [... read more]us just said Travel Agent did not give proper instructions TOTALLY WRONG, I was there in travel office when form submitted. Joanne said what do we want, we said what we paid for, she said no rooms available Resort full WRONG, the resort was 50% full after being there a couple of days. The Bellman heard the conversation and said he knew of empty rooms available which we took but still not SUPERIOR in our opinion, Joanne should have know this (they have computers) just being a difficult person should not be in that job. Wanted to speak with Manager about accommodations, would not come out to speak with us, totally unprofessional, rude and disrespectful of paying Guest just was hiding in his/her office, BED BUG BITES mattress too old and standard of cleanliness not there. Found out later other Guest complained too and mattress was changed and room fumigated. BEWARE YOU HAVE TO PAY FOR WIFI VERY EXPENSIVE $9.00 USA A DAY AND ONLY AVAILABLE AT POOL. SAFE COST $4.50 USA A DAY, OLD STYLE WITH KEY . ONLY give you 1 pass card to get into your room Ridiculous!! No umbrellas at Beach only in VIP SECTION. NO extra security lock on room door had maid walk into room when sleeping . General Staff at eating areas , bar etc always helpful and smiling. Grounds well maintained. Pool large and clean. Lots of new chairs around pool. Food very good ,but small buffet. Beach nice sandy and clean but little shade other than some trees, no umbrella's. Unless the OWNERS give management skills to certain staff definitely would not go back and upgrade the mattresses.

Cofresi Palm Beach and Spa Resort: Wonderful Time at Cofresi

Had an amazing vacation at Cofresi Resort and Spa. Loved the beach and beautiful pools. Cannot say enough about the food at the al a cartes. Really enjoyed the Mexican and Italian restaurants. Booking the junior suites is advised, we stayed in the standard rooms which are very basic, but we are never in our room so unimportant to us. Drawback of hotel is the very aggressive time share people but just be firm and say no. They will try to tell you that they are giving you a tour but they dri [... read more]ve you right to the hard sell meeting centre. Also hotel charges $200 if you lose your wrist band and as you would know it, my husband lost his in the ocean. Spent most of our final day trying to find it. In all years of travelling never have had this happen.

Casa Marina Reef Resort: Nov26-Dec3

I have stayed here many times the staff is really good the food is not five star but it is good every time I go there l meet people from all over the world young old and in between. A must to do is go down to so Sosua beach the people will try to sell you things but all you have to say is no even some girls on the street will try.

VH Gran Ventana Beach Resort: Pleasantly surprised

This resort I would return to, for sure! I liked this smaller resort. The rooms were clean and well cared for, staff friendly, the beach is beautiful, and, though the vendors are plentiful, they weren’t too pushy. The massage on the beach was worth it! I liked the pool volleyball, beach volleyball and yoga options! The food was good! The workers were always busy keeping the grounds neat and tidy! Public bathrooms very clean. Marien Puerto Plata Hotel: Great Week Away!!

We arrived at Be Live Collection Marien on Sunday November 25th for a one-week stay. The resort is very lovely with an amazing view of the Mount Isabel de Torres. Beautiful grounds and a large pool. The Entertainment Team make this resort. They are all very easy to hang with and enjoy the daily crazy games including darts and ring toss as well as crazy water games. We upgraded to the Superior Deluxe Room with Jacuzzi tub and free Wi-Fi. The room was spacious with a great bed and pillows, a [... read more]long with a futon-type couch and a good variety of television channels in Spanish and English. The food was great in the buffet including daily fresh-made donuts and churros (for breakfast), a good variety of lunch and dinner items!!! The ala carte restaurants are amazing. We attended each of the 3 and really, really enjoyed the Brazilian with its variety of grill meats and the Mexican was AMAZING. We will be back again next year!!!

Blue Bay Villas Doradas: great vac

just returned 1 week ago wonderful vac staff were amazing, beach, buffet and the grounds. not a big resort but perfect for our age group not so much for the younger crowd. VH Gran Ventana Beach Resort: Great time at VH GRan Ventana

This resort was great for us, no complaints. Very clean, service was great and it is a pretty small but well appointed resort, had everything we wanted (2 pools, tennis court, close walk to the beach, restaurants, etc). Only thing was that the gym was pretty bad.. very small and in pretty rough shape. Food was decent for a resort, not amazing by any means but better than what i was expecting. VH Gran Ventana Beach Resort: Another Fabulous Vacation

This was our 5th 2 week vacation to this resort and we can't wait to get back!!! The people are amazing!!! Clean rooms and fantastic food! We love the beach area which is where we spent most of our time.

VH Gran Ventana Beach Resort: Such a good time :)

My husband and I spent a week at Gran Ventana the last week of November and it was an amazing vacation. The resort is extremely clean, staff can be seen cleaning both the resort and beach area throughout the day. Beach is beautiful with lots of laungers and palapas. We never had trouble finding a spot at either the beach or pool. There are many beach vendors who will approach everyone every few minutes but leave once you say “no thank you”. I would recommend the resort to anyone visiting Puerto Plata!

Paradise Playa Dorada: Beautiful area

This hotel is a 3.5 star and lives up to its rating. The beaches are beautiful and well maintained. The staff was pleasant and helpful. The lack of choices in food was my most unpleasant experience. We also upgraded to select and the resort was not full and would not change our room to the vip side. My mother and I shared a bed( not a big deal) but I asked for 2 double beds. Also a 3rd floor was not convenient to walk up with someone who has mobility issues.

Iberostar Waves Costa Dorada: Iberostar Costa Dorada

We had a really bad experience. I do not know from where to start, but this hotel is definitely not a 5 star hotel. Evening shows were very bad and not interesting at all. The service was very bad. Unfortunately I can not say anything positive about this hotel.

Sunscape Puerto Plata: Loved this resort!

First time in Puerto Plata and truly enjoyed our stay. Stayed the week of Nov 19-26/18, in Building 9. Basic room but the shower was fabulous. No charge for the safe or the internet. Internet was sometimes accessible in the room but no problem in the lobby area. The layout of the resort was perfect. It looks bigger on the website but everything is actually close together. A short walk to the beach. Beach bar conveniently located. Washroom was continuously cleaned. This is a very clean and well  [... read more]maintained resort. The grounds were beautiful. No reservation required for the à la carte restaurants. Just registered at the entrance to each and they gave us a coaster style pager. We only had about a 20 minute wait. There was a seating area around the bar area with tables and chairs so you could have a drink or food while waiting. The pizza oven is at this location. Two of the bar/eating areas were up stairs so could be an issue for people with mobility issues. Not sure if there was elevator access or not. You could also see the entertainment as the stage was just below, so if you didn't want to be in the crowd you could watch from above. We ate breakfast at Windows buffet each morning. Good selection of food. The Omelettes great. The cappuccino at the Coffee Bar was fabulous. There were no Palapa structures on the beach, but there were Mangrove trees that provided natural shelter from the direct sun. No problem getting a lounge chair. The water was warm and clear. It was a little murky on our last day due to the waves. All in all, it was a fabulous vacation. Having been to all inclusive resorts in Punta Cana, Cuba, Bahamas, Mexico, Jamaica, Turks and Caicos, and Antigua over the past 15 years, this one is up there in the ratings for me. The only real negative thing was the beach vendors. So many of them but with a polite 'No thank you', they moved on. It was hard work in the heat and long days for them. Better deals there than in the shops and they expect you to barter. The very friendly staff on the resort are hard working people. Although it is an all inclusive, a few dollars tipping here and there goes a long way for them and is greatly appreciated.

Cofresi Palm Beach and Spa Resort: Extremely nice resort!

Above average resort just a bit too much walking between the rooms and the beach and restaurants.The food was very good and the rooms were above average and very clean. The shows at night were a lot of fun. The staff was friendly and well trained in customer service.

Cofresi Palm Beach and Spa Resort: Paradise!!

From the moment we got to Cofresi Palm it was like stepping into paradise. The resort is beautiful and so big! Food is really good, but not a lot of late night snack options. Staff and party staff is awesome. We had so much fun. When we checked in our room was decorated with balloons everywhere because we were celebrating a birthday! I would definitely go back!

VH Gran Ventana Beach Resort: Had a great time - Resort & Staff were fantastic

We arrived and the sort was only 1/3 capacity early in the week (so nice not fighting for a lounge chair at the beach or pool). Entertainment in the evening was a bit lame earlier in the week but really the only negative. Staff were great, beach was great, food was great (for the Dominican), rooms were beautiful. One of the people we met stepped on a sea urchin (she was snorkelling much further out than the beach area) and they quickly collected her in a golf cart and drove her 2 minutes up the road to a very nice clinic with a sweet doctor who pulled the quills out (fast efficient care...I overseen as a nurse). Would definitely visit this resort again.

Iberostar Waves Costa Dorada: Amazing resort

I travelled week of November 19th for 7 days with my family to Iberostar Costa Dorada on recommendation from my travel agent. It was close to airport and not too crazy busy or over crowded. The weather was bright and sunny each and every day and was great to get away from the winter weather. The food was decent and we tried Japanese restaurant which was our favourite as well as Mexican a la carte. My daughter enjoyed herself at the kids club. Our room was cozy and spacious with a nice bathroom and balcony stocked daily with beer soft drinks and water. We were visited by peacocks daily walking the grounds. There were cats around but kept to themselves for most of the time. There were lovely ponds with flamingos and turtles by the main entrance. Everyone spoke english and it was easy to communicate. The check in/out experience was good. I would like to thank Christina and Naomi at the concierge desk for their warm hospitality. The bartenders: Marlon, Lito, Juan at Theclub bar. Leonardo and miguel x 2 at the pool bar. I had an amazing massage. We went to Ocean world as a day trip and swam with the sharks. The sea lions is the best show and would book that encounter next trip. They have a little beach and aquatic centre as well. My recommendations: 1) Pool revonations is a must. Concrete was falling apart in pool, at swim up bar and pool bottom so our feet got scapes. Pack water shoes. 2) Beach was a little rocky and full of seaweed. They had to shovel it daily but did not get to it too late in afternoon. Perhaps have it done early in am as it took hours. 3) Private washroom on the beach for Theclub members and snacks. Overall it was an amazing resort and birthday trip and looking for visiting more Iberostar resorts worldwide.

Casa Marina Sosua Trademark by Wyndham All Inclusive: Good Resort

This was my second time at Casa Marina in a year. They are diligently working on the renovations and it's looking good. Food is good for a resort and I really like the layout of Casa Marina. The biggest downfall of this resort is the service, very frustrating and ultimately will most likely be the reason I dont return. That said, the price is right and it's worth a visit.

Casa Marina Reef Resort: It feels like home!!

This was my sixth time at Casa Marina and it never fails to impress. The close proximity to town as well as Playa Sosua are a bonus, but it is the staff and the service that is the best thing about this resort! There is such a warm atmosphere there and the staff treat you like family. No question that I would recommend this resort and that I will be back!!

Casa Marina Reef Resort: Can’t wait to go back!

I was very impressed with the lovely and very friendly staff. I enjoyed the grounds very much, it is nothing short of beautiful. The new dining area amd buffet room was gorgeous. Despite some of the rooms needing some renovations, the room overall was very clean and maintained well by the cleaning staff. The first thing I noticed was how clean everything was. I will most certainly be returning!!!
