Canto Del Sol: Amazon resort

I really enjoyed my vacation at Canto del Sol hotel. It was my second time at this hotel and I will return 😀The New Year Fiesta was amazing !!! Everything was very well organized, the staff was very friendly, the food was very good, the show...everything.

Iberostar Selection Playa Mita: awesome resort!

This resort was amazing. The grounds were very beautiful and maintained pristinely. ALL the washrooms in the resort were cleaned continuously and were never in a mess. Never out of paper and toilets always flushed, even the beach bathroom was kept well. Always loungers at the pool and beach. No saving of loungers at pool allowed before 9:00 am and security actually removes items unattended. Staff were very friendly and helpful with anything we needed. Our room was cleaned at least 3 times a day [... read more] so never out of clean towels and minibar always stocked. The only down thing was the time share promoters. 2 in our party of 6 felt that they were harassed by the timeshare workers and finally went to the front desk to get them to stop calling them.

Sunscape Puerto Vallarta: Sunscape week

The hotel is older but well taken care of. The service is outstanding. It's so nice not to have to book for the a la carte dining rooms. Nice shopping mall in the building. The weather was just what we ordered!

Decameron Los Cocos Guayabitos Ramada: Great resort!

Had superior room....it was big but stark. It was near the a la carte restaurant that also served brekky and lunch. Location of the room was great....yes some stairs to climb up but much needed "exercise" after all the food! I personally LOVED the food....Mexican food at every meal, no shortage of guack! The buffet also had loads of options at every meal. The staff was amazing. Super friendly and they seemed to actually like their job! AND all the stuff you could buy on the beach (donuts on heads)! Overall, the resort was fantastic. I'd book this again in a heartbeat!!!

Secrets Vallarta Bay: Staff as Warm as the Sunny Weather!

This was my first trip to Mexico and having an all inclusive resort experience. Normally, I travel a la carte and do research on what restaurants and sights I want to see...but after working really long hours I just wanted to have a vacation over Christmas where my partner and I could just relax and not have to plan anything. Secrets at PV met our expectations and we really enjoyed ourselves! The highlight of the resort was the staff. Christian at the pool really treated us like family and kept checking in on us and kept our drinks replenished quickly. The front desk and concierge were friendly and efficient. The lounge drink servers in the lobby area were incredibly friendly and gracious even though some of the guests were not. I'll write separate posts about the restaurants, but in every case, I was impressed with how each staff member seemed to care and work hard to meet guests' needs. Another highlight for us was the view and relaxing experience in the lobby bar. We would relax there for hours, people watching, reading, enjoying the drink service and fantastically talented musical entertainment (piano during the day, singers in the evening). The pool options were great. The swim up bar pool was in one corner so the loud people were in the one area. The snack bar and other bar area were in another area. The space was clean and there were many servers to keep you "hydrated". All the rooms seem to have a water and pool view. Our room was kept very clean. I can attest to what some others have said about a "cleaning fluid" type of a smell in the rooms, but I attribute it to the high humidity and challenges of being in a tropical environment. The room doors can lock in an open position and we just opened those and the balcony doors and let the air flow through for 5 min and the smell went away. I'm not sure about comments I read before going that concerned me now that I have experienced Secrets...the Secrets side is very much "kid free". Yes, it is connected to the Now side which is a family resort, but I only once saw a minor on the Secrets side and clearly he seemed to be granted special permission (he was wearing a clip on security type tag on his shirt). The only loud and screaming people I experienced were adults, and fortunately this was not a common experience. Some also mentioned the resort was loud at night. With the balcony doors closed, (we were on the 6th floor) we did not experience any noise problems after 11pm...so again, this was not our experience. We slept well and felt very relaxed and rested. Best restaurant by far is Bordeaux. It is on the Secrets side, so if you are travelling with kids, you won't get to try it :-( Gentlemen, bring pants and a collared shirt as most of the a la carte restaurants have a dress code. The service is incredible, all the servers were great, Alfonso really treated us with special care. The other server we had (name escapes me, but his wife is soon giving birth) was incredibly gracious and despite thinking about his wife giving birth imminently, was very focussed and made our experience great! Have the mussels, rack of lamb and definitely have the soufflé for dessert!!! At the buffet, the best thing at lunch and dinner is the grill items. The salmon, steak and prawns they do to order and trust me, you will enjoy them!! Once again, the staff are incredible! You cannot beat the view at Oceania (Secrets side) for dinner. The main courses are less tasty than the appies and salads, but the sound of the waves make it special. The Japanese restaurant was our least favourite (Himatsu). The staff worked incredibly hard (they were slammed busy), but the food was pretty mediocre. The sashimi was the best item, everything else was poor or average. All in all, there is something for everyone and you will enjoy it! We would recommend this resort and would certainly return!

Hilton Vallarta Riviera Resort: Good resort, amazing sunsets

Overall, the resort was really clean, food was great, the music by the main pool was never different, it was have been nice to hear different music. Drinks were great. All staff were very friendly, the spa was very nice.

Grand Marival Emotions Resort and Suites: Fabulous Week at the Marival thanks to Jenn

The hotel staff, the hotel rooms and grounds were clean and very well maintained. The food options were great and well labelled - especially since I am a celiac and lactose intolerant. The beach is very well taken care of and I will be returning to the Marival. Thank you to Jenn for going above and beyond and helping me get the vacation I desperately needed.

Iberostar Selection Playa Mita: Playa Mita Perfecto

This was a perfect resort. We enjoyed every minute of time spent here. The pools were clean and wonderful. The Iberostar friends and two of the chefs made the difference for us. I will never forget the fun times we had with the Animacion friends, particularly with the dancing instruction. I will remember Mario,Marco, Aly,Nancy,Edwardo.Alex and Ruby for the rest of my life. Decameron Los Cocos Guayabitos Ramada: Wonderful family Christmas Vacation

This hotel is very large and older. The hotel and the standard rooms are well kept and comfortable. We were in building one, which is right on the beach. The main dining room is very well maintained with a relatively varied menu. The bar at the beach was wonderful. And the disco and the patio outside were great...where we could get drinks until 3 a.m. Had a great time. Will gladly go back again.

Grand Decameron Complex Bucerias Trademark: Good time!

Nice hotel with good food. Hotel is a little older but the staff are wonderful. More suited for young families and 60 plus as the adult pool (quiet pool) is geared specifically for the older generation. If your between the ages of 30-50 and are not travelling with children, you may not find many people in your age group here. Also, be aware that the walls are paper thin if you are a light sleeper. We maybe got 3 -5 nights of fluid uninterrupted sleep in our 15 night stay. As this is not an uncom [... read more]mon problem in resorts, this resort was especially bad compared to others we've been to in Mexico.

Canto Del Sol: Time well spend

Recent trip to Puerto Vallarta booked by Fred, in Canto Del Sol hotel / resort, smaller resort with great staff, very friendly good facilities, tennis players paradise, very clean hotel, staff will go above and beyond to make You happy, beach is a bit rocky at the water edge, overall would highly recommend, location is great short cab / bus ride to old town. The only negative that we have about the resort is the poor beach volleyball court because is so close to the water it is often washed awa [... read more]y so it is very uneven (slanted) we like to play a lot on holidays so this is important for us, luckily next resort had a great volleyball court so we ended up playing there most of the time so as long as their patrons were playing we were fine

Riu Palace Pacifico: I keep goimg back because the place is beautiful and well kept but the staff are lovely and friendly.

As above - well kept but the staff are so genuine and friendly. I wish the economy could pay them more- they are so worth it. Despite that, they are all quite lovely and I will keep going..The quality of the food depends which chef is on that day but ranges from great to OK.

Villa del Palmar Beach Resort: Lovely small resort

Beautiful small Mexican style resort. Rooms very clean and fresh. Lobby beautifully decorated for Christmas. Slow check in process, but all staff very accommodating, friendly and helpful. We spent most of our stay on the beach. Beach waiters delivered our choices of beverage without our asking each time we arrived and frequently passed by with a fresh drink and menu for lunch and/or snacks. My complaints - a couple of days we did not receive coffee packages in the room and the Christmas Eve and  [... read more]Christmas Day buffets (excellent food) were not well organized. Also, the evening entertainment left a little to be desired. I would rate the experience a 8 out of 10. This was a family vacation for 2 grandmothers, married children and 22 and 23 year old grandsons. Enjoyable time for all of us with many good memories.

Grand Decameron Complex Bucerias Trademark: Had a great time!

The hotel is a little dated, BUT it is a great place to stay. Overall the food was good and the specialty restaurants did not disappoint. (Steakhouse was our favorite). I would recommend avoiding building 2 as it is right by the nightly shows and nightclub. It is VERY NOISEY. We were booked into this block and within the 1st hour I reqested to be moved. We were moved to building 4 which was much better. I would go back to the Royal DeCameron we went as a family of aduts, and really overa [... read more]ll have no complaints.

Riu Flamingos: Pleasantly surprised

We spent two weeks at this resort and absolutely loved everything about it. It is extremely clean everywhere, the food is yummy, the beach is beautiful and the staff are amazing. Everyone is so friendly and welcoming. It is very busy but very well organized to handle the crowds. I would not hesitate to return even though the Sunwing flight times are brutal. Give it a try.....you will love it and we feel it is the best deal out there.

Vamar Vallarta: Mixed feelings

This resort has excellent staff who work very hard to make your vacation pleasant. Special thanks to Fernanda! The grounds are lovely with great ocean views and location great for the marina area. The beach was mediocre but we often took the bus out to different buses. Pools were great and we generally really enjoyed our stay. The food was so-so, but we could always find something to eat. However, we were very disappointed by management's treatment with us. When we called them to tell them that  [... read more]our first room had a broken toilet, they attempted to charge us an extra $180 US saying it was our fault! The toilet didn't flush properly (like at all!) and we had to change rooms because of this. It was impossible to speak to management in person -- we just kept getting letters under our door telling us to pay up. Finally, the lovely front desk staff were able to resolve the situation, but it was an extremely unpleasant way to begin our vacation.

Tropicana Hotel: Great place for vacations in great Puereto Vallarta

The hotel is a very good looking, clean building with a distinct style. It is located in the old town across from the sandy beach and easy access to Malecon. The standard of our room was above average with excellent daily service. The restaurant offered reasonably priced good quality meals. I should add a word about very friendly and professional staff.

Barcelo Puerto Vallarta: True Mexican 5 Star

Had the unfortunate room just over the bar that struck up with the live band at 10:00pm and closed down at 1:00am. Upon speaking to the front desk they were willing to move us to a room above the nightly entertainment room. Really!! The pillows on the beds were the worst I had ever slept on! The food was ok, not fantastic by any means! If you didn't tip the buffet table service staff right at the beginning you could sit and wait for water,coffee or other drinks for your entire meal! The reso [... read more]rt grounds and pools were beautiful and well maintained! Not much of a beach to lay on, the waves got crazy later on during the day but the sand was amazing! It was a great family resort out of town so if your looking for nightlife this would not be the place for you! There was definite inconsistency when it came to service at the front desk! We needed a late checkout and other guests paid $50 USD for a late checkout while I paid nothing. No free WIFI! You had to be a Premiun Guest for WIFI, where is there not free WIFI?? It was a long ride on a windy road into town so if you want nightlife and hustle and bustle this is not the resort for you!

Las Palmas by the Sea: very noisy in need of updating resort

Our first room had a broken cracked sink, very old worn out furniture and decor, second room was updated but still cracked sink and sewage smell from shower drain, no hot water and once no water. Very clean rooms house keeping was friendly did the best job she could with what She had. Towels thread bare. This is not a hotel to relax and hear the ocean!! Staff was incredibly friendly great service. The bars over pour drinks no cut off period lots of obnoxious drunks yelling, screaming, falling off of bar stools cracking open Their heads bleeding. People getting so drunk on Tequila etc. The bar tenders and staff have to put them in wheel chairs push them to their rooms. Constant noise no sleep . Cheap holiday and if You like noise and drunks and dilapitated rooms this is the resort for You.Front desk manager never smiles and is a rude arrogant mean little Man. Whenever You ask for anything You are putting Him out. Staff is paid $1 a hour so please tip.
