VH Gran Ventana Beach Resort: Overall Great Resort - Family Friendly

When we arrived at the hotel, they told us that our request for a ground floor room were never received by our travel agent. We have a young baby with a stroller and they told us that no ground floor rooms were available (and there are no elevators in the buildings). They had no record of us asking for a ground floor room, king bed, and crib; so we were quite unhappy when we first arrived. The second day of our trip the hotel was able to move us to a first floor King bed room. Food at the ho [... read more]tel was great; always plenty of options. Most of the staff are extremely friendly and welcoming. The entertainment staff were also very friendly. We like how the day time music isn't overpowering; so that you are able to enjoy some quiet at the pool. The beach and beach bar were also fantastic. Our two complaints are: people are constantly smoking in 'common' areas - around the pool, by the restaurants, etc. They are supposed to smoke in designated smoking areas, but quite a few people were smoking wherever they wanted. We had to tell staff numerous times to ask them to stop smoking beside us and our baby. Our second complaint is the night time shows are extremely loud (they seem to crank the bass very high). You can hear it in almost every room that is in the buildings near the pool. If you are a light sleeper, just keep this in mind. Overall, a great trip. Weather was great with a few showers sprinkled here and there. Staff are kind and welcoming and food is plentiful. I'd return to this resort again but next time I am going to call them to ensure they receive my request for a first floor room!

Iberostar Waves Costa Dorada: Excellent Vacation at Iberostar Waves Costa Dorada

Stayed for 15 days at this resort December 1-16. We have been here around 12 times since 2018. The Oceanview room is very nice if in building 1 but building 5 is located beside condos being built and is quite noisy. Our a/c broke in our original room in building 5 and they moved us to another room in building 1. It was wonderful to have a quiet room. Food is quite good and they theme the nights so it isn’t totally the same thing each night. Domingo is the server we have had since we started comi [... read more]ng to the resort and he is amazing. Manuel is a customer service representative and he too is wonderful and so helpful. Only complaint we have is the bar staff in the lobby bar are not very good. If you tip them good then they serve you as soon as they see you and everyone else can try to get served if you’re lucky. Thus unfortunately has been going on since we first vacationed at this resort. This definitely needs to be improved! The beach was quite dirty with areas of garbage this year more so than any other time we have been there. Likely it is garbage being washed ashore but considering tourism is their main source of revenue, it would be beneficial if they could take care of this. Perhaps it is because of the many storms that washed garbage into the ocean but the aftermath needs to be taken care of for health reasons. All in all we had a great vacation and are already planning our return in February 2025!

Ocean Blue and Sand: Great resort

Beach was beautiful. The food was really good. Coffee bar was amazing! Our balcony jacuzzi didn’t work nor did they try to fix it or resolve the situation.. so it was a bath not a jacuzzi… the entertainment was weak but the drinks were good.

Viva Heavens by Wyndham: Ok place

Very small resort. Food was good. A few cons. No coffee until 7 30 am. Room supplies coffee makers but maybe get 2 small cups. If you are an early riser than no coffee available till buffet opens and no cappuccino until pool bar decides to start. Cafe does not open until 9 which makes no sense. No alcohol until 10am. I had a room in building 6 and the first 2 days bathroom floor was always wet. Could not find leak turns out floor was sweating because of a/c. Went away don't know why. Bar staff [... read more] at times did not look interested to serve especially in the morning. Pros are the food and a la carte. Pool was adequate. Grounds are clean. Beach seems ok. I would not go back. Seems slow pace and too small for me.

Senator Puerto Plata Hotel: Needs some tlc

I would rate this resort a 3.5 star. Staff is very helpful and friendly. Rooms were clean, food not the greatest but lots of choices. The pool and pool area is in need of repair (paint is peeling in the pools and the lawn beds are in rough shape). There were 4 umbrellas available for the whole pool deck.

Paradisus Grand Cana: Dec 2024

The hotel faculties were clean and well kept. The room was spacious. The beach was clean and free of seaweed. Although there was not direct walking access to the beach, they did have transportation to the beach area. The food in the buffet was always the same. Although they indicated specials, eg mexican Day, USA day. There was no change. Food that was precooked sitting under heat was dry and hard. The A la carte restaurant food was inconsistent . Iberostar Waves Punta Cana: Beautiful resort

Iberostar Waves was a beautiful resort. The grounds were immaculate. The rooms were newly renovated with fresh calming colours. They were in the middle of sanding the doors and painting them. The food was amazing. They had such a variety of food for everyone to enjoy. The resort is environmentally friendly. There was no garbage, plastic bottles to be seen. It was a relaxing vacation for us. VH Gran Ventana Beach Resort: Amazing resort

The hotel is good some rooms need update .we travels toghether with my Daughter and a 8month old baby we emails the hotel and requested a ground floor rooms no elevator at this hotel and this was the third time at this resort when we arrived Mr martinis put on the second floor i told him that we need a ground floor he. Said the hotel had no more rooms he was very rude has no manners shoul not be working at this hotel. Maybe you could find a job tending. Senator Puerto Plata Hotel: Very Disappointing

We are not picky people, and have visited the DR many times, and know what to expect. The only good thing I can say about this resort is that the grounds are beautiful, the layout to the beach is gorgeous. The pools do need to be painted, but grounds maintenance does a wonderful job. That is all it has going for it. I am serious, stay away. I have never written a review like this. We normally will choose Air Transat if given the option, after this experience I don’t know who to travel with.  [... read more] You will be told this resort is 30 minutes from airport, after we CLEARED the airport and got to the Air Transat bus. We sat in parking lot, in bus with no AC for 1 hr 40 minutes, while they sold beer to the people on bus, then drove over an hour to get to the resort. Almost 3 hrs!!!! Then stand in line at resort to get your room. Our first room had no A C, no working toilet, sliding glass door I could not open on my own. The plugs in room were old and European. The shower had no water pressure and impossible to adjust. After going back down to reception, I am told there are no other rooms, unless we pay more money. I refused as I did not want upgrade, I wanted a working room. I contacted Air Transat, who only directed me to rep there. The Rep was not there, could not be reached, so had to wait till next day. The rep was useless, we were offered a room worse than the first at the very back of the resort, or pay more money again. Finally after rep left us. Managed to get a manager who moved us to working room. 2 days of our vacation ruined. The rooms are very dated, the big news here is you cannot adjust the AC, the ones in room are not broken, the AC is controlled by resort. You can barely feel it. Most rooms have ceiling fan you need running full blast. The Tv has only CNN for the only English station. The resort has power outages all the time. Make sure to have flashlight in bathroom with you as i was in pitch black in shower. You also need that power to keep fan going. Good luck!! Now on to food. Breakfast buffet was good for fresh made eggs, then be prepared to fight the flies off your other choices. Flies are sitting on all the food. First time on holiday I lost weight. If you like Diet Pepsi, you are in luck. It is all they have. No regular pop and all. There is so much more I can write. 2 days to get umbrella. 5 times to front desk for it. Beach is pretty, but hard to walk in to sand because first 5 feet are broken coral. There is absolutely nothing to do here in the evenings. Bartenders don’t know any drinks. I wanted to go home. How Air Transat represents this is beyond me, and never expect help from the rep there. My suitcase was kicked by the person loading the bus. They cracked it and denied it. This could be a great hotel, but they don’t care, and never will. I spoke to so many, all with issues and would never come back. You have been warned!!! Normally we would be booking our next trip for February, I have no interest in travelling at all now. Just thinking of the disgusting food, and flies there makes me sick. Choose somewhere else please. The staff and management is horrible. I sure miss the great staff at Sunscape.

Melia Caribe Beach Resort: Amazing resort

Amazing beach ?☀️Spa centre YHI thank you Yahaira and Yolanda we hope to come again soon , it was beautiful experience,service very good and rooms very clean,food is amazing you can eat whatever you want all day long never mind if you are vegeterien the choice Is excelent

Senator Puerto Plata Hotel: Not worth the money

Small resort with very few amenities. Food was OK, but they ran out of wine for 3 straight days including buffet and all restaurants/bars. Forget about any service. There is almost no entertainment there and the only activity is beach volleyball (self organized). Hotel looks very bland with zero decor. Beach is OK if you are allowed to swim as they just hang permanent red flag and do not allow anyone to enter water. In general it is greatly overpriced regardless of how much you paid for it. The [... read more]re are way better resorts in Dominican at the same or even lower price point (ignore star ratings, those have nothing to do with actual value).

Bahia Principe Escape Ambar: Not as good the second time around

This was our second time staying at the resort in 2024. Pros: *Beautiful resort with a beautiful beach *Clean *A variety of restaurants throughout the properties with various cuisines. We enjoyed Yurta, Dominican, Asian Fusion and Meats Restaurant staff are very friendly *Building 64 and 67 (not the service road side) are ideal for beach, pool, and smaller breakfast and lunch buffets (i.e. limited variety) Cons: *No cold water in our room during our 9 day stay. We were told it was [... read more] a third floor issue as the pump wasn't strong enough. Shower was unbearable. Couldn't wait to get home to shower. *Toilet in our room did not flush at times (no cold water). This was crazy. We had to use the lobby several times (5 minute walk). *No communication re. any water issues. *Restaurants - Fish Market and the Brazilian. The Fish Market lacks staff and service. Brazilian had a great ambiance, but food is subpar. *There are a lot of cats on the property. There have been new litters since we were last here. *Bring heavy strength bug spray and afterbite, i.e. Deep Woods or Muskol. The bugs come out after dinner and attack the ankles and legs.

Very nice ,friendly atmosphere,very clean,food is great The manager and staff are great Beach is very nice.We were 6 times in Puerto Plata VHGrand Ventana and we will be back soon.This time we brought our friends they were very happy

Bahia Principe Explore Esmeralda: Very good resort! Grounds were impecable!

First off the resort complex has EVERYTHING you could possibly need! Our room was on the ground floor of Villa 91 just off the pool. It was exactly what I requested and needed. The Esmeralda main pool was just outside our room. Its busy during the day so as long as you are good with music and laughter you will be AOK this close to the pool. We claimed our chairs each day and never had an issue with getting space here or at the beach! The FOOD ... the food at most of the restaurants was only good to very good. Not great or excellent. EXCEPT for YURTA, the food that night was EXCELLENT. The Greek, oh my gosh, it was terrible and they really need to do a better job there. Casa Bella was very good, Maiko Japanese (Punta Cana) was good, El Oliva Mediterranean was good, Beach buffet and the main buffet were very good, fresh and loads to choose from. LIMBO bar at the Ambar was also excellent. Top shelf and the two bartenders that were there from Dec 6 to the 13th were so much fun! Pool was fairly cloudy most days but on the 4th day there were complaints from a lot of people and the 5th day it was clean and clear. I would definitely go back to stay at the Esmeralda or Ambar. The other areas were very tired and in need of some TLC. All in all ... a restful, beautiful vacation.

Sunscape Coco Punta Cana: Amazing Resort

All around great resort! Food was great at the a la carte restaurants. I highly recommend the Tierra restaurant (Amazonian cuisine). We went from Dec 6-13 and it was not busy. We basically had the Family Sun Club pools all to ourselves for two days out of the 7. Check in/check out was a breeze. The resort app is great as you can make your dinner reservations, see where the restaurant is located, order room service, and many more options. The only negative thing is as soon as you set foot on the [... read more] beach, you get harassed by the vendors. Buyer beware of the tours sold on the beach. They may not be as advertised by the seller.

Bahia Principe Escape Aquamarine: Good value

We enjoyed the resort although the room left a little to be desired. first of all the bathroom was never cleaned properly our entire stay, also the door to the toilet area made horrendous noise each time it was opened or closed. The living room curtains were impossible to open and the door itself had a broken handle and locking system and we had to get a handy man in to kind of repair it. Secrets Tides Punta Cana: Excellent resort

The food was great. Lots of restaurants and you didn't need to make reservations. Check-in was super quick. Everything is new and clean. Very safe. Beach was awesome. I would highly recommend. Gym was well equipped. The quiet pool was just that - quiet. There are ceiling speakers in the room so you can play your own music. They thought of everything. It is about 50 minutes from the airport.

Sunscape Coco Punta Cana: Amazing resort

We stayed in the adults only section. The room was large and very comfortable. The pool bar staff was awesome. The pool was clean and refreshing. Loved the adult buffet! I would definitely return to this resort.

Sunscape Coco Punta Cana: Put this resort on your bucket list

My wife and I recently returned to this resort for the second time this year. We were there in February/ March 2024 for Two weeks and enjoyed it so much we just had to return in November. Because we were return vacationers we got a pleasant upgrade to the adult sun club section, which we very much appreciated. It is the staff that really makes this resort going to. The grounds are constantly kept clean, the rooms are updated and kept clean, the food at both buffers, and the restaurants is never [... read more] disappointing, and the bars are well maintained with very attentive staff can and will serve many different drinks. The staff that work at the Sun Club reception are fantastic and do very thing within their power to make your stay rememberable. A shut out to Baraly for her fantastic help at the Sun club section. Majestic Elegance Punta Cana: Great resort

This was our 3rd time at the Majestic Elegance and we have also stayed at the Colonial and Mirage. We stayed in the club and it was well worth all the little extras you are entitled to. We had a wonderful Butler “Victor” who was always there for us. The staff at the main pool bar were awesome especially Salome. At the main lobby bar we were always greeted with smiles and drinks from Roberto, Miquel and Manual . Great time at a great resort.
