Paradisus Rio De Oro: Great resort
Great service, good food (better than expected), liked beach, pool and activities, rooms very clean. Suggest bring small flashlight. Lights along beach path not working at night. Water was out for several hours on last night. Great job on updating rooms and resort overall. Quiet area. Would definitely recommend and go back again.
Melia Jardines del Rey: Good value
The resort is very good value. The grounds are well kept and the buffet is good. The pools are quite large and good and the entertainment is very good. The biggest drawback for us was that when we went in early May, the mosquitoes were very bothersome.
Tryp Cayo Coco: Mediocre Resort
The food at this resort was terrible - no one goes to Cuba for the food but there was no variety in the food and the lunch and supper buffet were the same everyday. There wasn’t enough food for guests because locals would take all of it and the food you did get was either served cold or undercooked. The whole hotel was run down and not well taken care of. They were short staffed and the staff that were there were not friendly (except a few). The resort was over run with locals while we were th [... read more]
Melia Marina Varadero: Great place
Really enjoyed our stay there. We traveled together with my 27 y.o. daughter and had a great time. The room and resort were clean, staff very pleasant and helpful, the food was good. I know that people say that you don't go to Cuba for food, but our restaurants and buffet were actually pretty decent. The only thing that we were not happy about was the snack bar at the pool. Only once we were able to have pizza there which was very good. So, we decided to have it again the next day. Well, first t [... read more]
Melia Cayo Santa Maria: Swimmers Paradise
Just returned from a sunny, hot week at the Melia Cayo Santa Maria and found it a very well run resort and really have very view complaints. I had asked for and received an ocean view room on the 2nd floor near the beach which was clean, spacious and bright. I go mainly to enjoy the beach and swimming and was not disappointed, the water was truly amazing especially the last 3 days when the ocean was so calm. It's great as there are no motor sports allowed. I also discovered a great place to go s [... read more]
Sol Rio de Luna y Mares: Love this resort!
This resort is in such a beautiful setting, the beach is magnificent with great snorkelling. The gardens are kept beautiful and the grounds are kept very clean. Rooms definitely need some updating as they are showing their age, the hotel has started to do updates so some of the sections were closed when we were there. The nightly entertainment was good we enjoyed the live bands and singers. Food was ok, there was a short supply of bread and some fruits, some days there was no bread at all. [... read more]
Melia Las Americas: A resort with a lot going for it!
My wife and I returned home May 13 after a one-week stay. Had a very good time, no major concerns. The hotel lobby is a showpiece with beautiful floor tiles and complementary décor, lots of comfortable, attractive seating, classy piano bar, spacious. Walk straight through the lobby and you can head for the beach or hang out with the card, backgammon, and chat enthusiasts on the covered patio. Golf course to your left, pools, restaurants, theatre to you right. Our room was a notch below [... read more]
Melia Jardines del Rey: Great trip!
Great place, great people, food was decent but the same all week. Avoid the juice at the restaurant. Beach and pools were gorgeous and the room was beautiful and well kept. All of the staff were amazing!
Melia Peninsula Varadero: Amazing Resort
The grounds are beautiful and very well kept, lobby area is a great size and lots of room, dinning room beautiful and to eat outside is breathtaking. Large pool with lots is chairs and most of all the BEST beach in the world!!!!
Sol Palmeras: Amazing Potential
Staff were amazing (only exception was the store clerk and ala carte reservation staff) The check in process was slow, which was disappointing at 130am. Check Out was much faster. I wish there was AC in the lobby. Much needed at times. There was a bit of a smell in the lobby and in the rooms. Something we have experienced at other Tropical Destinations, but could be avoidable to create a better experience. Beach was beautiful. Pools were fine. Bars were great. Only ate at 2 Ala Cartes (Mexi [... read more]
Sol Palmeras: our first trip to Cuba
This was our first time to Cuba and we were not disappointed, the beach, Hotel area, pool, attractions and best of all the friendly employee's and staff they were amazing. We stayed in the bungalow that was very nice had lots of room and our Maid was great. The area was very clean and the sun wing rep was great, especially the day trips, we done two of these and they were great to see the area and City. The impression before we went was unsure and a little daunting, that was quickly gone once w [... read more]
Melia Las Antillas: Sex and salsa
I thought I would write a book after our stay ( me and the misses of 35 years) The name Ҡsex and salsaâ€. It’s an adult resort fill with string bikinis and Latin music. Unlimited drinks great food super beach great pool area friendly bartenders and Cuban entertainment. Well I need not say any more. Try it your self Oops did I mention second honeymoon.
Sol Palmeras: Amazing Resort
This hotel is great. Rooms were a little dated but clean. Food was plentiful and tasty. Staff were friendly and courteous. Olga in the buffet went above and beyond. Lasiel in the lobby bar was a sweetheart. Our maid Beatriz always had our bungalow clean. We had an ongoing issue with the AC but was always looked after as soon as the call was made. My only complaint is with the mattresses. Not very comfortable. That being said... I would return to Sol Palmeras in a heartbeat! Looking forward t [... read more]
Melia Cayo Coco: Beautiful and relaxing atmosphere
Stayed at resort May 4-11. Perfect weather all week. Beach is amazingly beautiful. Food at the buffet was excellent. Fresh meats and fish are cooked at your request with a good variety every night. All waiters and cooks were friendly. Overall, service across the resort was excellent. Rooms are dated but very clean. Only small drawback was the inconsistency of mixed drinks at the bars. Some bartenders were excellent, others looked like they rather be home. It pays to tip, be friendly and c [... read more]
Sol Palmeras: Very clean and wonderful resort
The rooms were clean, air conditioner worked very well, fridge kept drinks cold! The beach was incredible! Staff were polite and friendly. Beach towels were big and fluffy! We want to bring the kids next year!!
Memories Cayo Largo: Back again
This was our 9th annual visit to this resort and unfortunately some things have changed for the worse. There is apparently a new General Manager, a new Head Chef, and a new Food and Beverage Manager. Starting with the positive, the food was slightly improved over previous visits, but there are some shortages. Given the difficulties Cuba is currently facing, this is not unexpected. However, quality and quantity is impressive. Now for the list of negatives. The beach maintenance is terrible. [... read more]
Paradisus Rio De Oro: Superior resort
The hotel is the best of best in Cuba. I enjoyed the adults only options. My room was very nice and housekeeping was excellent: clean towels every day. Staff was super nice, location of my room was excellent, close to the beach and close to the pool and main area. I enjoyed it so much. I am highly recommending this hotel. I spend most of my time at the beach, ohh, the best beach in the world.
Melia Cayo Santa Maria: Wonderful trip
The hotel is a nice small property that was only minutes away from everything. The resort was always clean. Service was great. The beach had a numerous amount of shade. The pools had a decent amount of seating but at peak times it might be a little challenging getting a spot. Our only complaint was the small selection in the buffet compared with other resorts we have gone to. Having said this the snack bar was one of the best we have had. We did not go without food all week and we were not hungr [... read more]
Paradisus Rio De Oro: The best in Holguin
It is like being in paradise. Royal service is fabulous. Every employee is super friendly and helpful. Very accommodating for my strict vegetarian diet. The pools are spectacular. The beaches amazing.
Paradisus Rio De Oro: Why go anywhere else?
This was our fourth trip to "our" resort and it is the only place we will go in Cuba. The resort has absolutely everything we were looking for four years ago and the staff who we now call friends treat us better than our so called friends at home in Canada. The junior suites are spacious and kept clean while our fridge is fully stocked by the best room service attendants...Jorge Leandro Perez being personal favorite. There us never a problem finding something great to eat...the pizza at the pool [... read more]
