Royalton Cayo Santa Maria: Lovely resort!

Very nice compact, quieter, resort on one of the best beaches in the Caribbean. Walk everywhere & trolley available if wish to go to Memories next door. Rooms are nice, spacious, comfortable bed & service is friendly & efficient. Excellent check in & out. No buffets, no waiting for meals & drinks served on beach or in restaurants/bar areas. Gorgeous grounds & flowers. Good Cuban music & entertainment evenings. Guests make their own parties at the piano bar.

Dhawa Cayo Santa Maria: Amazing Resort

I loved this resort, food is great, beach is beautiful and rooms were decent. Ocean front is actually more like Ocean view, a little disappointing but still nice. Not a party resort.. if that is what you’re looking for look elsewhere. It was perfect for what we wanted, relaxation and a nice beach. There were 3 different a la carte restaurants and all were super good. A little understaffed but everyone works super hard to give you what you want. Would recommend.

Royalton Cayo Santa Maria: Nice place/food shortage

The staff were very friendly and helpful Ran out of bread ,potatoes,bacon,eggs Staples like these should be available at a 5 star resort Security is also an issue Staff was caught entering our room Spoke to other tourists that had the same problem Hotel manager expressed concern but didn’t appear to do anything about it

Sanctuary at Grand Memories Santa Maria: Beautiful Resort

The grounds were beautiful, so much plantings and so well kept. Sanctuary pool area was a very pretty area. Our room was very clean & bright and was very nicely decorated. Plenty of English station on TV. The cleaning staff were very creative with their blanket decorations . The lobby bar was a nice area and bartenders were very good. Music in evening was very good. I was disappointed in drinks in pool bar as I found they were not consistent - In fairness I do not like sweet drinks  [... read more]out of machines but One time vodka and soda was good next time it tasted like they just dumped any left over clear drink into the vodka bottle. Wine also was disappointing again you would get a good bottle one time next time garbage wine. It was like they moved the garbage wine around the different bars and restaurants . All bartenders were good and service was great. Sanctuary buffet was good but was only available for breakfast and lunch. I was a little disappointed in Grand Memories Buffet but they always had an amazing cook for fish. I also enjoyed the pool bar lunch at Sanctuary. The speciality restaurants we tried were all quite good. The golf carts that took you around the three resorts was great especially anyone with a disability. .

Roc Lagunas del Mar: Beautiful hotel and beaches

I loved my stay at labranda cayo santa maria. The hotel was beautiful and had the most gorgeous pool i have ever seen. The beaches were white sand and pristine and the grounds were just lovely. A beautiful relaxing time

Sanctuary at Grand Memories Santa Maria: Great Spot

Beautiful beach, great food, excellent staff. The wine wasn’t great but the drinks were good! The beds and pillows were the most comfortable I’ve ever slept on. Our butlers were so caring and helpful.

Hotel Roc Casa del Mar: The break we needed from winter

The bedroom was amazing. We were two adults, one infant and one baby and the hotel gave us two double beds, one single and a crib. Pool area is really top notch. Staff relentlessly attentive and careful beyond duty. The beaches are absolutely clean and the ocean has to be the bluest I have ever seen. The food is really good and my son never even noticed the country or cuisine difference.

Valentin Perla Blanca: Never again!

Been to Cuba 5 times now, and this resort was the worst. Where do I begin! We all know the food in Cuba is not the greatest, but the Valentin was the worst ever. Always cold, always! Line ups, sometimes 20 minutes long. Once a tray of food was empty, took forever to refill. Beef was like rubber. Same food every single day! Ran out of white wine, milk, and espresso machine.Over all, food was bad. My husband will eat anything, but he to was very disappointed in the food. Beach towels-sign say [... read more]s open daily 12-5pm. Lucky if someone was there, changed our towels twice in 7 days. Ran out of toilet paper in the washrooms by the pools. Took 3 Hours to refill. Never cleaned properly, toilets stank. Lots of chairs by the pool, never a problem finding some. Bath towels were always stained. I just hope to god they were cleaned. Rooms- cleaned and very basic. No clock in the room, no tissue. Our patio door had no lock, but was ok , we were on the 2nd floor. Plastic on the beds, so when you moved, rolled over all your heard was the plastic. Toilets in the room stank. I would not dare look to see what the pillows on the bed looked like. Our friend look at hers and said they were dirty, disgusting. The resort is way too big, they said there are trollies coming and going, but you were lucky if your saw them Front desk- Not the friendliest, customer service terrible. Most of the workers were great, but some where lazy, rude, and not helpful at all. Beach- stunning, but not near enough beach chairs at all. Every one complained about that. I totally do not recommend this resort, unless you are young and like to party. If you have trouble walking , you do not want to go there. The only thing that was great, was the beach, the sun, and the hot weather, oh and the drinks. The drive from the airport to the resort was just under 2 hours This resort needs a lot of improving! No where near a 4.5/rating. I’d give it a 1! Do not go, you will be very disappointed!

Memories Paraiso: Amazing staff!

I loved every second at Memories Paraiso! The grounds are beautiful. The beaches are unlike any I’ve seen before. The food was amazing, people had warned me about food in Cuba and we had no problems, every meal was delicious. The snack bar served ham and cheese sandwiches 24/7 and had awesome lunch buffets. The lobby bar serves up amazing coffees and other drinks. The hotel room was a bit run down but it was clean and comfortable. Every staff member we care across was a gem. Especially the service manager Havier (?). We would come back to this resort ANY TIME, I hope to be back in the next few years!

Sol Cayo Santa Maria: Disappointed in this resort

We visited this resort back in 2015 and that is why we chose to return to this specific resort but we were disappointed this year.... Half the resort was closed which translated to at least half the services..... it should have been advirtised that it was half closed. A lot of the staff were busy on their phones or talking to each other....We didn't get beach towels for 4 days, had to fight to get bottled water in our room, had to change rooms twice because the first one wasn't what we had booke [... read more]d and the toilet wouldn't flush in the second one, and after 4 days of calling reception for maintenance (very unpleasant experience) with no resolve and the sewage smell all over our bungalow - we had to file a formal complaint with the resort's customer service and had to request to be moved again. Staff also didn't change the bedding. We also had to walk out of the a la carte créole restaurant where we had reservations as they refused to serve us!!! never heard if this happening before!! we had to go to the buffet!!!! It was more stress for us and back to customer service!! We enjoyed the beautiful beach, the pizza restaurant and the staff at the beach and pool bars and the buffet but might not return to this resort

Playa Cayo Santa Maria: Front Desk Horrors!!

Grounds ,beach, pools, entertainment, were all great. Food marginal but OK. BUT, The front desk staff were terrible & mistake prone & unhelpful! We had booked 2 ajoining rooms at time of booking with our agent for young families & the front desk was informed this at time of checking in. But rooms assigned were on the same floor only, 5 rooms apart & not ajoining rooms at all. After a lot of stress & about 4 hours later, we got one ajoining room & then told no others were available. We were f [... read more]orced to upgrade to a suite at an additional $325 US with no apology. This 4 hour delay I'm sure resulted in all other ajoining room possibilities assighed to folks that checked in after us! A visit to customer was a waste of time. It took 30 minutes just to get the person to understand our strong complaint with the front desk, no compensation at all, & excuses about how busy they were. Even customer service was unhelpful & totally unsatisfactory.This was NOT our problem! They were !!! In addition, our phone chargers & wires were stolen on the last day there. Strong advice to next folks, do not tell the room cleaning staff your departure date. They struck on the last day as we thanked them for the provided service !! Sadly, they took advantage of this. Below, I indicate I would recommend to a friend but with qualification!

Playa Luxury Cayo Las Brujas: Magnigique hotel

Hotel Roc Casa del Mar: Good resort

The food is good but the same all time. Need more verity for there food. Internet is horrible even if you pay for extra it works when it wants. Systems is always down. Grounds on the resort are nice but needs time to mature. Towels for beach always run out and the person never there to switch the towels. Al cates are rediculous. Snak bars are good. The resort runs out of stuff a lot. People bring you snacks. ( chips, cookies etc.). Bring your own condiments and such. But the best part of this resort is beach and Auca center they are the are the best people I ever met. The bar on the beach is the best. I never use the pool the beach is that’s amazing. Staff at the resort are very nice and they try there best to make everyone happy. The weather was great and excerstion are really amazing as well.

Gran Muthu Cayo Santa Maria: Beach amazing. Had to run for buffet food.

Beach and natural environment is wonderful, especially when it is calm. They provide kayaks and paddle boats. In regards to food, if you are really into food like me it is not very good. It is mostly lukewarm buffet dishes. The biggest problem is most of the food comes from one dining room where there is not enough room for everyone. It is kind of bedlam in there. There are a couple dishes everyone wants and they just get ravaged in two minutes and you have to wait for them to be replenished. Th [... read more]ere are a couple made to order stands but the lineups for them are huge. In regards to the rooms there was visible mold on our picture frames. They were not that concerned about this. They did let us go look at a different room but it was not better. All this being said, when the prices are around the $800 mark and you don't mind missing really good food for this long in order to have a nice beach, it is a good choice. The hotel is way out on a Cayo Santa Maria which is pretty amazing. There are some cool excursion options too. There is a pool table which doesn't get too busy either.

Melia Cayo Santa Maria: Reliable Quality

Our third visit to Melia Cayo SM, after a few years absence. Facilities in excellent shape, reflecting upgrades visible on exterior finish, grounds, and interiors. Staff as always charming and attentive. Location exceptional: glorious sea, broad clean beach, pools very comfortable. Drinks very good, food fine if one is selective: the basic materials mostly good, but finish uneven. The one a la carte restaurant tested this time, the Tex-Mex, was OK: ambience and service very good, beef as expected sub-par. Overall, a wonderfully rich and relaxing week, once again!

Valentin Perla Blanca: Awesome time!

Had a great time at this resort! The beaches were amazing, pools were well kept. Food was good, service was great from both bar and restaurant staff. Our favourite bar tender was Victor at the lobby bar! Nightlife was good but the shows could use some work.

Hotel Roc Casa del Mar: It's an all inclusive...

In order to set the stage, I will say that this is the first all inclusive I've been to in 20 years and I travelled with my 15 year old son and 13 year old daughter. We typically do vacation rentals and stay more immersed with locals. I chose this resort based on location for the beach, the advertised sports facilities and teen club. I'm not a foodie and my kids aren't fussy eaters. So the resort. It was certainly adequate when it came to accommodations, restaurants, drinks, entertainmen [... read more]t, safety, staff, service, etc. The resort apparently opened in 2016 and was hit by a hurricane in 2017. The infrastructure is rough (walkways in poor shape, obvious water damage on any wood used in construction), more a sign of the harsh climate, hurricanes and constant tourist traffic I suspect then anything else. As mentioned I chose this resort for the advertised sports facilities, these were a let down but we made the best of it. the tennis courts look 20 years old not 3, but the nets were up and the resort had rackets and new balls. The basketball court surface was in the same rough condition and the hoop was bent but we still played (ball provided by the resort). The volleyball net at the beach was not worth trying. There was no teen club to be found. There was a ping pong table near the main bar which the kids enjoyed every night. the room had a couple of issues, ceiling fan didn't work and the toilet leaked on the floor which we used a towel to keep in check, and the light fixture on the balcony was partly ripped off the wall, but we were not bothered by any of this. We didn't get/request daily housekeeping, but the staff in our building (unit 16) were very accommodating whenever I needed to exchange towels or get extra toilet paper. I think everyone knows the deal with food in Cuba, it's a little bland I guess, but we were very satisfied with the nightly buffet selection. I'm not one for waiting in lines, so I didn't bother making reservations at any of the a la carte restaurants. Seemed to be lots of people who felt it was worth waiting in line every morning though. There were several excursion options available, we did the catamaran cruise with snorkeling and dolphin interaction, kids loved it, I would have liked to free the dolphins.... An important note is that my Scotiabank MC credit card apparently has ties to American banking system as it was rejected when I was hoping to book other excursions, the WestJet rep indicated this was a relatively new development with Scotiabank credit cards. A major plus were the Cuban people. Keep in mind they are on Caribbean time not North American time. We found that the service was great, the staff was very friendly and helpful. From the guides to and from the airport, to receptionists and housekeeping, to bar staff and waiters, the people were the best part of the resort. So all in all, I won't be back to this resort, but only because I don't enjoy all inclusives. My kids said they would go back with a group of friends which I think is great!

Valentin Perla Blanca: Great value!

Stayed Jan 29 through Feb 5 2019 Room: Average. Stayed in building 26 and was great location to everything. Room was clean. Pillows and bed were hard but you can ask for extra pillows from the maids. Average cleanliness. Grounds: great. Well maintained. Food: it’s cuba so don’t expect extravagance and depending on embargo’s they may lack certain food items. But always something to find to eat. About 1km long and not crowded - you can find your own seclusion if you wanted to. A good Beach chair were a little hard to find as they are still replenishing them from hurricane that went through last year but I managed to always find a good one eventually. Pools: awesome as well. Large - never crowded and one quieter one near building 26 side and the louder more party one near building 33. Entertainment: great. Transfer from airport is about 1.5 hours Recommend getting privilege package of your looking for a little better service and options. We made use of the priveledge lounge and concierge a lot and gave us top shelf drink choices. Always a in room stocked bar (had to call each day to get it replenished but typical to do) Also gives you an extra option for breakfast and lunch at a a-la cart-restaurant - which we used a lot versus buffet or snack bar. Snack bar also serves good breakfast and lunch options and dinner if you are good with pub type food options (burger, fries, chicken fingers)

Roc Lagunas del Mar: Quiet spot in paradise

This is the second time we have stayed at this resort, and I was pleased with the choice to return. The good: Super friendly staff, eager to help- the resort was maybe only half full and the lovely beach was wide open to us, stunning emerald sea and spotless pool areas. The bad, one of the three beach accesses was almost impassable due to missing planks. Important to note: This is Cuba, enjoy it for all that it is and don't complain about what it is not.
