Barcelo Maya Tropical: Amazing resort⭐️

The resort is clean, beautiful and foods are great. Nicole, our agent is very accommodating and responsive to all of our inquiries. Our booking went smoothly, thanks to our Agent. Definitely recommend the agent and the Resort.

Barcelo Maya Beach Resort: Beautiful but sometimes loud

This place is huge! More than a half hour walk from side to side! The grounds are meticulously kept and its all very beautiful! The whole resort is very clean. The first couple days there was some sort of music festival nearby so you heard loud club music pounding from noon to 10pm. During this time the buffets were mad houses with people crashing into each other. One night there was a party with music so loud it rattled thr coffee mugs in my room from several hotels away. The ocean beach is beautiful but the water is murky and full of rocks and boulders.

Barcelo Puerto Vallarta: Good resort

An outside grill for lunch would be needed so you don’t need to change cloths if you are poolside Very friendly atmosphere Whale watching and snorkelling were great and awesome dive Center staff were more than helpful

Barcelo Maya Riviera: Wonderful resort

My husband and I enjoyed this hotel a great deal. Everything was great. The rooms were large and lavish. The food was delicious. We especially enjoyed the Tapanyaki dinner at the Japanese restaurant. Beach and pool area were beautiful

Allegro Playacar: Amazing Resort

This resort was really nice. Smaller resort but the layout was exceptional. The beach was amazing and beautiful withnalot of activities. Vendors on the beach too! Lots of lawnchairs. Patrolled all day. Both buffets had amazing food and pizza was so so good. The grounds and rooms were so clean. Amazing and fun staff! Definetely a go to place in the future!

Occidental Caribe: Disappointed

Disrespected from day one, arrived on a Friday at 2pm.. gave away our room as the locals fill the resort on the weekends.. we didn’t get a room till 8pm and we were premium level.. we got a room with 3 beds on the -1 level yes minus 1 level as our entrance was the loading dock for garbage and supplies for the rooms. Our room had cockroaches and large centipedes in the bathroom. To our dismay we were asked to come back several times a day to see if our regular premium room that we ordered was rea [... read more]dy only to be told that they gave our room to someone else even after saying they will hold our room..We could not believe what they were telling us! I got blisters on my feet as it’s a long walk twice a day for 3 days.. 3 days later we get our room on a Monday! and ended up on a different floor from my son and grandson.. they even painted our shower stall with us already in the room while we were away on an excursion and never told us, so we ended up getting paint on us. The top at all off there was no water in the hotel for the three days we had to go to à la carts and excursions without showers so I ended up getting laundry service because our grandson did have some accidents. I miss reading the form, thinking that it was in pesos was actually an American for a load of laundry, which was basically a load of laundry at home cost us C$500 so not worth it at this resort I don’t recommend it to anybody there’s so much more. I just can’t put it in here.

Barcelo Bavaro Palace: Barcelo Bavaro Palace - Great Place

Wonderful resort. Immense building, amazing architecture, everything is elegant, luxurious, clean and has nice stores. Food was good, many items to choose from; however, we did not see fish except for 2 nights when they had sashimi but not fried of grilled fish like we had in other Dominican resorts previous times when we visited. One point that needs quite a bit of improvement is communication. They hardly spoke English, and we do not speak Spanish. We could not get clear answers to any  [... read more]of our questions. And another point that was very disappointing was a very poor internet connection. The only place we could sporadically communicate from was the bar or the theme restaurants. Not even in the room, let alone on the beach. If I recommend this place to a friend, I will point out the minuses.

Barcelo Maya Beach Resort: Barcelo Maya Beach

Hotel was very clean and well manicured. The service was top notch and food was delicious. Our Trip Central advisor, O'Neil, was highly effective and proactive. Beach was great but you need water shoes to get into the water.

Barcelo Maya Tropical: Excellent Hotel Complex

The Barcelo complex, is excellent for all groups of people. You get to use the facilities at 4 of the hotels, their buffets, restaurants, swimming pools, etc..the employees work very hard at service and cleaning, the beaches are a little rocky, but once your out in the ocean it’s fine, they do clean up the seaweed, their is so many activities you don’t need to leave the resort, l didn’t care for the entertainment at night, l found the band way to loud which made it hard to hear the performers, t [... read more]hey have a 24 hour sports bar with food and tvs, bowling alley etc. they also have outdoor restaurants you can go for lunch by pools so you don’t need to walk to buffets

Barcelo Maya Caribe: Beautiful resort!

The Barcelo Maya Grand is a large beautiful resort with many pools & activities and access to multiple areas & restaurants with a variety & plenty of food. The grounds are kept very clean and the friendly staff work very hard to maintain cleanliness and cater to guests. Check in could've been more welcoming as we had to change rooms in order to get the rooms we paid for but once I mentioned "speaking to a manger" they suddenly found our rooms;) There was a 3 day music festival that created a lot [... read more] of noise & brought in tons of young people which would've been nice to know about prior to booking, we were far from it so not a bother but other families were not happy about it. Overall the Barcelo Maya Grande (Caribe) is a stunning lush resort with a beautiful beach & lots of do or not do. We had an amazing week there,enjoy!!!

Barcelo Maya Colonial: Barcelo Maya Colonial was Wonderful

We stayed at thr Barcelo Colonial with a group of friends in December 2025. We had a great time and having access to the other resorts was a bonus. This was the first time we never left the resort to do an excursion. There were lots of free activities available in the complex. We ate at the Colonial/ Tropical and the Caribe/Maya Beach. They were slightly different but both really good. Caribe/Maya had a great pasta station and sandwich grill station. One thing they resort didn't have was  [... read more]a standalone coffee shop but they did have a specialty coffee machine available for you to make your own. The a la carte restaurants that we tried were really good too. Kyoto, santa fe and the seafood one. No problems finding a chair by the pools or the beach and lots of shady areas. There were a lot of hammocks available by the pool area too, perfect for a daytime nap. We went to the theatre a few times and the shows were as entertaining as other resorts we've gone too. A lot of singing amd dancing. It would be nice to have a fire show, a magician, or something more entertaining. We found it more lively hanging out in the mall bar by Caribe or in Maya beach lobby. Better music and a younger crowd. There wasn't a happening common space to hang out in the evening other than the piano bar which was quieter and older crowd Overall we had a great time and it was a great resort.

Occidental Arenas Blancas: Excellent resort

This is my second trip to this resort. I have returned because a lunch buffet with a good bathroom is right on the beach. The rooms are large and well supplied with balconies overlooking the pool. The grounds are well maintained with flowering hedges everywhere. Only a few steps from the hotel to The Varadero Boulevard and The Beatles Bar.

Occidental Arenas Blancas: Best beach/value

The rooms were terrible, but who cares about a room in sunny Veradero? The beach was incredible. And the food was actually pretty decent. For the price you literally can’t beat it. The staff were also very friendly, especially at the Seafood restaurant and the A La Cartes.

Occidental Caribe: 3 star at most

Stayed here November 28th- December 5, 2025. The grounds are nice, beach good. Pools were good with lots of loungers and shade. Rooms definitely need upgrades, ceiling plaster falling, patio doors don't lock, toilet ran and leaked. My daughter and her friend had to move 5x. Food was okay. Al a cartes good. There is a language barrier but for the most part we were treated well. There are areas at resort that need to be highlighted for caution when walking. Entertainment crew very lively but se [... read more]emed to pick the same people all the time. No hot water in bathroom. Buffet crew very accommodating. Bar staff wonderful.

Allegro Playacar: Great Resort

The resort was the perfect size and very clean..the beach was amazing, nice white sand and lots of loungers...Pool was great too. Food and drinks were fabulous...the animation staff and bartending staff we also good. There is a lot of critters running around but that was ok too. We had a tough time getting alacarte restaurants but managed 2 in the week we were there. My only problems was i had booked 2 months in advance and we were a group of 6 women and requested our rooms be together. We  [... read more]were split up into 3 different buildings and not even close together...i even emailed the resort before we went to tell them my booking number and my request...my travel agent also sent the request in...i dont understand why when 6 people all book together on the same booking they cannot put us together...front desk staff was absolutely no help and downright rude...but, we still had a fabulous time

Barcelo Solymar: Great resort for the money!!

The staff were great. The pools were also great. The beach and location were amazing. 2 min it's walk to the beach and 10 minutes walk to the best part of town. The food is not bad. The rooms are a little dated but worth the value.

Barcelo Maya Palace: Fantastic Trip

The hotel was amazing. Rooms were spacious. Grounds were kept in excellent condition. Food was great, especially the a la carts. Staff were very friendly and helpful. Plenty of space for chairs at the pools and beaches

The rooms and the grounds were very well kept. The beach was beautiful. Amazing staff The only problem was not getting rooms together the manager that night we arrived was very rude to us. I would definitely go back to this resort.

Barcelo Bavaro Beach: Adults only

The hotel is very good! Everything is close . The beach is beautiful! The grounds are very well kept. The rooms could use some updates especially the showers could be walk in, easier for seniors. Overall we had a great vacation, the weather was fantastic!!!

Our stay at Barceló Bávaro Beach was wonderful, as always. The staff were incredibly friendly and the service throughout the resort was excellent. The food was outstanding and truly seems to get better each time we visit. Our room was clean, comfortable, and well-maintained. One of the things we appreciate most is the compact layout of the resort—everything from the pool to the beach to the buffet is just a short walk away. For anything farther, the trolley runs frequently and provides easy acce [... read more]ss to additional amenities. What could be improved is the bar area, which could use a makeover since the chairs and overall setup feel old and dated. It would also be great to have a bar directly on the beach instead of having to walk back to the pool bar. Another feature we would love to see added is a snack bar for quick bites between meals—something like a small hamburger or snack shack would be a perfect addition. On a positive note, the golf course was in very good shape and offered fun, challenging rounds; although short, the well-protected greens made the course especially enjoyable. Overall, we had a fantastic stay and would highly recommend this resort.
