Blue Bay Grand Esmeralda: Normal

Normalmente no me gusta hacer comentarios negativos de mis viajes, porque sé que todo el mundo hace su mayor esfuerzo en el trabajo, pero en realidad no me gusto, es la primera y última vez que volvería a este hotel; nunca pude ingresar al mar, la playa esta llena de algas .. en la piscina olía feo en todas partes a causa de las algas .. el internet funcionaba solo en algunos sectores, la música la apagaban a la media noche y se supone que era hasta la 1am .. se que no es culpa del personal [... read more], todos eran muy amables, pero son pequeños detalles que se pueden mejorar; vivo en Montreal y el invierno acá es muy duro, lo único que deseaba era estar en la playa y el mar, la comida, el licor y el resto de cosas ni me interesan, solo la playa y el mar lo cual no puede disfrutar, la única solución que me ofreció Amada, el encargado de AirCanada vacations en el hôtel, era pagar un tour a isla mujeres o Cozumel, lo cual no me pareció buena solución; no es la primera vez que he ido a Cancún y tampoco será la ultima, de lo que si estoy seguro es que jamás regresaría a este hotel, a nadie se lo recomiendo, las fotos que había visto en internet son solo Photoshop, hubiera preferido quedarme en Montreal y no perder mi dinero. Blue Bay Grand Esmeralda: Decent resort, great people

Upon arriving via Sunwing, after being stuck in Pearson for an hour on the runway then waiting for transportation for two hours in Cancun. We were greeted by very friendly staff. We checked into our first room in building seven and immediately turned around and went to the lobby as the room smelled like a raw sewer. It is clear the hotel had been unused for the two years of covid. However, the staff was working hard to bring it back to what was visibly a great resort prior to covid. Everyone was pleasant and did their best to provide the best service they were able. The beach reviews about erosion should be more concerned with the chronic seaweed problem. From sunrise to sunset heavy equipment was trying to clear it to no avail. The smell at times could be overwhelming. The beach is a write off, however, the lagoon about ten minutes walk down the beach is beautiful. As for the food the buffets and most a la carts a very bland. The French restaurant and steak house were really good but very difficult to reserve. The service in the French restaurant was spot on thank you!!!! As for Sunwing….. poor service, lack of communication, and total disregard for their passengers. We were checked in and out of our room twice and told we were staying another night due to mechanical issues. We were then pulled from the pool by other passengers as they got a plane cancelled the night we had already accepted and gave us tow hours to leave. In the confusion and 20 flight changes I lost my entire wallet including all I’d and banking with the exception of my passport. I’ve never been so stressed returning from a vacation. Blue Bay will be a good resort again although I don’t think there is hope for the beach no matter how hard they try. All in all a vacation is what you make it. I drank well , ate ok and was able to experience all I wanted to see, including Tulum, Chichén Itzá and COCONONGO. The only thing I didn’t do was go diving, the beach really turned me off.

Blue Bay Villas Doradas: Resort is not good

The resort food is horrible. Absolutely nothing was hot. It is repetitive every single day. At breakfast time you could get a fresh omelet ihowever, for a 14 day stay there was only bacon available five of those days. The only fresh fruit you could get was watermelon. Very disappointed in the food for this resort. The 24 hour beach bar was absolutely disgusting. We were there for 14 nights and attempted to eat there in the afternoon and in the evening and the food was always dry if there was an [... read more]y food at all for a 14 day stay? We saw hamburgers once and they were cold and dried up. My wife got very sick and had to see the doctor for five days of our vacation and to try to get soda crackers was like pulling teeth. I ended up walking to , the mini mall to buy some for her along with Gingerale, as the resort only had Sprite. In addition, when I tried to go get something on the Buffet to bring her to our room to eat like plain white rice, they refused to allow me to take anything out of the Buffet area this is absolutely unacceptable. Housekeeping was hit and miss at best when they did come they would leave us one roll of toilet paper and two bath towels only as we notify them that my wife was sick and we wanted extra toilet paper, face cloths, and extra towels three days of our stay, They never even came to our room. Please note we left money on our pillows and gifts for the staff every single day we had to beg to get a bottle of water in our room and my husband ended up going to buy some at the mini mall because my wife was so sick. Would never go here again

Blue Diamond Luxury Boutique Hotel: Fantastic resort, fantastic staff

This was our second visit to the Blue Diamond. We chose of because it is a small, adults only resort. It is carved out of the rain forest and has amazing gardens. The food is fantastic and the staff are very attentive.

Blue Bay Grand Esmeralda: Very disappointing!

The resort was very dated and run down. The food was hit or miss and the drinks were about the same, we were able to find one or two food or drink that was good but nothing was consistent. The beach was unusable and never went to the ocean at all because of how dirty the water was. Turn down service was good but they never stocked the fridge or shampoos unless you were in the room and basically asked for them. We ordered room service once and it never arrived, first night around 6 pm we called m [... read more]ultiple times for cold water as our fridge was broken and we never received any! Calling front desk or 0 went to no where no matter when you call. The shop that sold clothings at the resort was biggest scammers. We went in one night to check things out and liked few things, we didn’t buy right away as we didn’t carry money with us, went back next morning, they changed the price on only the items we were interested in and removed the discount. Then we still wanted to buy them, I personally grabbed a bathing suit to try which had 50% off tag on the hanger and I confirmed it was 50% off as the worker was grabbing it for me, after trying them, I asked for another size to make sure. I took the 50% off one as they fit better to cashier and she told me now it’s not 50% and accused me of changing the tag sticker! Be aware of them.

Blue Diamond Luxury Boutique Hotel: Relaxing in Paradise

Just returned from a 7 day holiday at the Blue Diamond Hotel. Mexico had a travel warning, so I was slightly nervous to travel there with my pregnant fiancée. We ended up booking with SunWing. I am an experienced traveller and must say the entire process was extremely well organized and I felt that everyone involved took extra care to make us feel safe and have a wonderful time. The resort is nestled in natural nature instantly making you feel relaxed and happy. The food was excellent and you could order as much as you like. The staff is warm and welcoming. Make sure to plan on giving tips as it is the norm. The beach is quiet and relaxing and there is no need to reserve a chair at 5am. There are plenty and the beach waiter makes sure you don’t go hungry or thirsty. If you want to have a quiet relaxing holiday this resort is perfect. You never feel that there are a ton of guests and you are overwhelmed with noise and people partying. The rooms are cleaned meticulously and the beds are comfortable with quality sheets and pillows. I would go back in a heartbeat.

All in all a good place to go We did get suckered into listening to a sales pitch about the VIP club. It was not for us as we do not travel all that much. We did get a $100 credit for the resort and used it for souvenirs Staff was great Drinks were good, food was good. USE THE APP TO BOOK DINNERS AT THE RESTURANTS! After trying to book with the front desk we found an app that worked great, would wake up and choose a place to eat and book for the next day. The hotel needs repairs staff is helpful but the guests smoking anywhere they wanted with no reguards to others and staff not enforcing them to smoke in the designated areas sends a message that the hotel is only after the dollar with all disreguard to other guest health, we will not be back, even after telling the hotel staff of the issues, nothing was done

Blue Bay Grand Esmeralda: Wonderful resort

We just spent a week here and enjoyed it very much. The grounds were well kept and the rooms although a bit dated and needed a few repairs were clean ! The food was awesome as was the friendly staff. The only downside we found was the lack of communication for some things We had to go everyday to make a dinner reservation and didn’t find out until our fourth day that there was an app to book them. Blue Bay Grand Esmeralda: Overnight Partying Ruined Experience

The all night partying which was accompanied by extremely loud music ruined our stay. As our 8 year old said, “it felt like the bed was bouncing”. The phone at the front desk was never answered. Some of the rooms are in very poor condition.

This Resort is very large a lot of walking unless you wait for the shuttle. Pools are very nice But the Beach needs work. Had very good service and very good food wile we were there. We would go back.

The facility is beautiful, the food amazing, the staff service terrific. We had a great time except for sleep.. there was a huge group from Madrid Spain 20 year olds four to a room and they were so noisy. Only one key per room So they would bang on the door when they got in at 4 am. NO SLEEP for older adults who go to bed after 10 pm. Blue Bay Villas Doradas: Maybe a 3 star?!

Not sure how much room there is for comments here. Last refreshed in 2006, 27 years ago. Had to bring in another safe, mini bar with 2 small beers, one Pepsi, one sprite and 2 waters - for the first day only. Thereafter, just water. Two in the party noticed a marked difference when recalling their last trip here 4 to 5 years ago. Paid extra for 3rd internet for the week. Often out sporadically.. water drip from ceiling, mtce called. Placed a towel on the floor...Really?!! Water pooling in [... read more] front of the toilet..figured out it was water leaking from shower glass not sealed to shower wall. Rarely left 2 face cloths, maybe 1 or 2 hand towels, along with bath towels..room not even made up one day. Phone in one room had no power in one room and NO instructions as to how to reach reception. Tried dialing 0 twice..nothing happened....pretty frustrating. Keys, despite being away from cell phones stopped working multiple times almost every day. Understand we are in a foreign country, but you cannot communicate with many as they know not much more than Spanish. Walls are paper thin.. Some food was passable, but all of it, except pasta bar and grill station, are maybe lukewarm...bacon is a scarcity and you have to ask someone to save some for you as it's gone first thing. Not all guests treated the same..often had to wait just to get water and coffee. A la Cartes were a disappointment. Since when is lobster bisque, just regular broth, with no lobster and maybe 1 shrimp? Nothing in the restaurants that looked anything like the promotional video in the lobby. Was I actually at the same place??!! Steak I got looked not much different than the so-called chateaubriand my sisters got! Biggest turn off is having the locals come in for the weekend and fill up the resort...not sure why anything like this is done. Have never heard of it?! The people here are friendly but they are at a real disadvantage trying to run the place..Most do try...Wonder if pool loungers ever get scrubbed...activities guy talks in Spanish...when all guests are English!! Really??!! I think they are trying, but I can tell you, I did not hear a positive review from anyone we spoke to. They all had complaints. Had to wonder when the last time anyone from Trip Central was there!! Planned renos are a paint job and paint furniture.. wow..needs way more than that...certainly disappointed with westjet website and lack of humans to speak to. No refund on baggage fees paid to and from due to a cancellation. Not happy!! Selected seats first thing Saturday morning (14th) at 9:20. Printed off confirmed seat selection. They were changed the next day...why is that done??!! Issue trying to select seats again on way home...21 DEF, tried many times..system issue...West jet techies can figure out why it did not work! My first vacation in 25 years. .Basically, the service normally provided by the airline has been dropped right into the lap of the customer....and I bet prices haven't dropped? I did not expect 5 star at all, realize this is a poor country, but the CEO of Blue Bay needs a wakeup call for this place. Bet he's never been!

Info: Room cleaning finished around 3 Can get a mojito at the beach bar, other bars said they didn't make them. Nothing but a top sheet the first night, cover was added but had a hole in it. Housekeeping was spotty, sometimes they didn't bother picking up the decorative sheet from the floor or emptying the garbage. Music by the pool bar is quite loud Inconsiderate guests who talk/sing loudly late at night and slam doors.

After reading the negative reviews for Bluebay I was not expecting much and we were surprised by how great it was. I was there 6 years ago and loved it then and it's still good but just a little older. It would probably be considered a 3 1/2 - 4 star as there were a couple things that needed attention but the negative people must have been expecting 5 star or have attitude. Beach-I would say 3 out of 5 only because the water is murky right in front on the resort. The beach itself is beautiful with lots of loungers. I was expecting broken loungers but I didn't see any (just the odd back adjustment didn't work). If you walk 10 min to the left there is a beautiful cenote with the clearest water to swim in. Walk next door to the right and there is clear water unless it is windy when everywhere is murky and wavey. It is a great walking beach as you can go forever to the right. The seaweed is cleaned every day by the resort. Food-Amazing!!! This place has the best food I have ever had at any resort and I've been to many. It does change up for lunch and supper. I don't eat much meat at home but somehow I love the seafood, chicken, beef, and pork while I'm there. It is more tasty here. Everyone I talked to had the same thought so again I'm not sure why the negative comments. Constant refills to our drinks and emptying plates as we ate.Constantly refilling the trays and kept hot at the buffet. We did the seafood restaurant and was just okay in my books. The Italian one was better as it had an antipasto/salad bar which we loved and I had the free beef option which was melt in your mouth. Staff-can't say enough about them. We were treated like royalty from every single person we encountered. They have a huge staff.. Checkin and out were flawless. Drinks-great. They were good and lots of options. Smell-where is this sewage smell I read about? We smelt it lightly in one spot along the path to the beach but no where else. The rooms can smell a little musty when first entering but that is hard to beat in such a humid environment. Rooms-Same rooms. Could be updated but everything worked, hot water and nothing looked like it needed repair. The bar fridge was restocked daily. The toiletries were plentiful. Landscaping-beautiful. All plants were kept up and the walk from the lobby area to the beach area was so nice with lights along it, stamped concrete wide path. They were painting Pools-Huge clean beautiful clear pools. You had to get there by 10:00 to get a lounger if you wanted to lay right by the pool but there were people leaving if you watched for it. Easier to get a spot by the quieter pool by the lobby. Nice loungers that all seemed to work that we saw. We saw a big party in the pools by the beach on Friday afternoon with music and bubbles and it was entertaining to watch the young people having so much fun. Entertainment-Each night had a family show at 9:30 and sometimes live music before and after also in the black and white bar. Sometimes it said Karaoke but there was a show instead. The performers were all good. Carts-we didn't have any problem getting rides with our luggage and sometimes they stopped and asked if we wanted a ride which we said no because we aren't lazy and enjoyed the beautiful walks around the resort. Hope this helps you decide to go and you will have a great time if you don't expect 5 star for a 3 star price. Also if you are a young person looking for a fun nightlife place this might not be the place for you.

The resort is small and very kept. The rooms are very outdated and lack furniture. No dresser and chairs in superior room. Lamps are so stained and old which they could easily replace. We informed them they definitely need a new toaster…so old. The food was good but never hot. I always got them to warm up my food on their grill. A very clean resort with amazing staff. Plenty of lounge chairs for everyone which was good. Xmas dinner was very nice with floating decorative flowers in the [... read more] pool. Always plenty of beach towels. Public areas were clean, Public bathrooms not very clean on a daily schedule. Our room 5338 had mold on the patio door curtains, Patio door lock broken, used umbrella to secure door at night. Bathroom vanity glass was blacken by moisture and mold (needs replacing asap). The Bar and dinning Staff (Roberta) were always very helpful. Didn't like how the Hotel Staff (Verona) harassed us about VIP/ timeshare prior to our check-in and wanting us to setup an appointment to meet with them for the n [... read more]ext day.

Grounds were clean, staff were wonderful, beach was beautiful. I would definitely return to this resort. They welcomed us and treated us as if we were family, also made my birthday feel extra special.
