Decameron La Marina: Not For Me

I was travelling in group of people 62 to 73. My understanding is that the building is only 4 years old so the rooms were in good shape and comfortable. We found the grounds very limited as the resort has 7 floors on a U shape with the pool, buffet, snack bar, bar and karaoke in the middle, with rooms wrapped around them. There was always loud music playing from 10:00 am till 10:00 pm. Food was good how ever there only the two restaurants, no a lacarte restaurants. There were 10 spots available [... read more] for a lacate at the sister resort ( 3 walking minutes away) but you could only go at 8:00 or 8:30 pm. The resort did not have a clear system in place for these a lacarts and from desk staff seemed to always have to be calling on a supervisor in order to approve any a lacarte bookings. I do realize I am in another country but communication was challenging as staff spoke very little English if any. I have stayed at Decameron resorts at least 4 other times but will no be returning to this one or the other 2 in this area.

Grand Muthu Runaway Bay Club Caribbean: Never Again Holiday from Hell

Never would I ever go to this resort again, Garden rooms are in a parking lot by the highway right where busses come in and out of., everytime theres traffic or horns it wakes you up. Mattress on a cement slab, cats meowing and defecating near room in the so called garden, large roaches out side the room. Staff not accommodating let alone friendly. Buffet you are having to find your own cutlery, cups and serve your own water and coffee lack of food and waiting for plates for meals by time you g [... read more]ot one not much food for selection. I was called discriminate name from a bar tender and made me cry. No beach chairs as people were claiming them in middle of night. Pools small and not enjoyable. Morning of departure staff knocking on door at 9am asking us to check out. Put out a so not disturb sign so we can have breakfast and shower as check out was at noon, came to room at 1130 and they were in there cleaned room out and luggage was at door of room. I could keep going on and feel we should be compensated for a holiday from hell.

Decameron La Marina: Not a resort i would go back to

Decameron Marina review Feb 11 to 18 2024 We booked this vacation through SunWing. Transport from airport to Resort: 14 people were transported by a van. The driver took the non toll road which is very windy with sharp drop offs and it was dark. The driver exceeded the speed limit, swerved around rough patches into the on coming lane with on coming traffic. At on point he put on his hoodie while driving. The passenger in the front with him advised he slow down but did not. There wer [... read more]e only two seats with seat belts and my seat had a broken back. The passenger behind me tried to hold up the seat. Check in: We paid extra for ocean view rooms but when we checked in, we were told they would not be able to accommodate but we could try the next am for a room change. Two of the couples traveling with us had asked for one king bed but were give two doubles instead. Once we were in our rooms, we realized that all except a few rooms had ocean view and the others were ocean front. We paid extra, did the rest of the quests have to pay extra. Rooms: We were told the resort is 4 years old but looked much older. Towels were thin, frayed on edges and some had holes. Some days we were only given one facecloth for two people. The rooms were clean and the air conditioning was good. The pillows were very hard, water was left daily in our rooms and if more was needed there was plenty at the front desk. The hotel is built in a U shape and the noise from the pool and bars was extremely loud. It started around 10 am and went till 10pm. Karaoke was done in the bar on the second floor nightly but could still hear noise till midnight most nights. Ear plugs were used and highly recommended if planning a vacation here. The bar had 2 open walls to the pool area allowing the noise to carry to the rooms. Buffets: There was one main buffet open for all three meals and one snack bar that opened from around 11 am to 5 pm. You could always find something to eat if you could over look the fact that pigeons were present in both buffets and were seen often sitting on the serving counters eating off the plates of food put out with out covers The staff tried hard to scare them off. The main buffet had a theme every night. Two out of the 7 nights we were there it was Mexican night. WE went to the buffet around 7 pm and usually by the time we were done there was short lineups. They said reservations were able to be made and the first night we made one but no one checked to see to see if we had one. The staff in the buffet were great and helpful. Ala carte Restaurants: We are unsure of how many there was supposed to be between Decameron’s three resorts that we were able to use. We found out that only one was open every night to serve the 3 resorts at the Los Cocos. Reservations in the description of the resorts said reservations were to be made the morning after arrival. On arrival were told that you needed to line up daily at 9am to make the reservation. Our facility which had around 160 rooms was only allowed 10 spots nightly at 8 or 8:30. We did find out that the person taking reservations at the Los Cocos resort was letting people book multiple days at one time. The 2 we were able to get were very good. Activities: There were a few pool side activities and bikes to use. The road conditions around the hotel and the traffic were not conducive to riding. Pool: There were two pools beside each other, one for the children. Due to the U shape of the hotel no sun every reaches the pool area. The pools were small and water cold. The loud noise in the area made it undesirable to sit by the Pool. We did have access to the pools at the Los Cocos and found one that was quiet and no one used. The weather was not nice while we were there. One day it rained all day with heavy rains for a few hours with high winds. Because the buffets, bar, lobby etc are all open there was really no where to go to get out of the rain, wind and cold except your room. Beach: allowed for long walks and easy walking. There was a shortage of beach chairs and if you did not geta chair before 9 am you would have to rent one from local vendors on the beach. There was a sign that said restricted access to the raised part of the beach but there were ++ people selling everything from food to trinkets on the beach and private vendors setting up tables and chairs. Area around the resort: there was a market in the area on Monday that we went to and found interesting. The market on Thursday at La Penita was not worth going to. If booking at theses hotels understand you are in a rural small town. There are a lot of souvenir shops but all are basically the same. The streets and roads are rough to walk on. This is a hotel for people that just want to lay on the beach. Would I recommend any of the Decameron resorts in Ricon---No. I think the description of the resort given by Sun Wing was not accurate.

Grand Decameron Complex Bucerias Trademark: Royal Decameron Complex

The Royal Decameron Complex is welcoming beautiful and clean. Over the years however the up grades in the rooms are needed, the lounges are old. The buffets for us are great, but the a la carts have gone downhill and trying to book a reservation is less the ideal. If you request a particular building or floor good luck when you get there because it won’t happen. You can get it changed but you will have to wait about two days. It doesn’t matter if you’ve asked due to medical issues upon arrival  [... read more]you get what you get.Saving a lounge with towel apparently has become an issue and is not allowed the last I heard which is unacceptable for those who do not abuse the time saving for their lounges for an hour. We hope to return one day but some improvements are needed before that happens.

Well priced for what we got. Good beaches and pools. Buffets ok Rooms good. Staff good and cheerful. Evenings entertainment also good Super location close to town. Friendly attentive staff. Very colourful and authentic location. Went on a few tours which were well represented

The main problem with this hotel is that you cannot request a certain room location in advance, even if you have been a guest at the hotel many many times. It doesn't seem fair. We for example only use the adult pool area. That is where we want to stay. But we have to argue and fight for that after we arrive. We eventually got into Block 5, which is what we wanted, but it took over a day and we lost a day of our vacation. Grand Decameron Complex Bucerias Trademark: We were at the resort for 4 years consecutively 9 years ago and it definitely is not as upbeat as before. No welcoming when off the buss, some activities discontinued, and a disaster to reserve an al acarte dining. and

Grounds - not bad Public Areas - not bad Rooms - need attention. Wall plug ins are so loose that they don't always stay. Lamp shades are tattered. Dresser drawers fall if pulled out too far and the some handles to pull out the drawer are attached with wire. Dining - Buffets are good, but one doesn't want to do that every night for 2 weeks. It is next to impossible to make reservations unless you can be in the lobby EARLY and are super fast on your cell phone. There needs to be more areas [... read more] available for internet access and a person able to make reservations for at least 3 times per week (as other all inclusives do).

Grand Decameron Panama: Winter Girls Getaway

Do some research and look at reviews before travelling to this resort. Very large resort with elevation, so lots of stairs to access the upper level. There are shuttles , but you may have to wait. Close to small airport of Rio Hato which was great. It is a small airport so there is no duty free or shops. Wifi, stocked fridge, safe included with upgrade. Also able to preselect your à la carte restaurants on the Monday, or line up and reserve every 2 days. Discount golf at Mantarrya Golf course for the golfers. The course was very nice and part of our group played several rounds. The resort grounds are well maintained with gardens, figurines, wall murals on buildings. Clean resort. Beautiful long beach for walks. Our rooms were dated, but clean, old fashion key door lock. Limited drawer space, but a few shelves in closet. A couple of days we had to ask for towels or water, but otherwise no issues. The food was good, we all survived, there is a variety of options both with the buffet and a la cartes. Some langage barrier with staff but for the most part we were understood or asked for someone who spoke English. The most problem was booking a la carte restaurants, as the hostess had limited English. The staff were pleasant and all hard working. The dining room staff at the buffet some of the busiest with the turnover of guests and tables. The biggest issue for me was the “reserving” of beach/ pool chairs. I am an early riser and most mornings I would go to the pool (adult plus and Pacifico) at 5:30 and chairs were reserved with towels but there was no one around. I would grab a spot and stay and read the news and watch the sunrise. By 6 am, most of the chairs were taken, but no one sitting in them sometimes until afternoon. Some guests also reserved shade and sun chairs by the pool as well as beach spots, therefore taking up spots in 3 different areas. So either the resort needs to add some chairs or monitor the non use of reserved spots.! Pool chairs and tables were also removed from the pool area to bring to the beach! Our group did not participate in any activities/evening shows as they all took place in the main section of the resort. The plus section did not have any animation team present. Lobby 3 had live music a couple of nights, but there is limited seating in the lounge, so standing may be required Our vacation overlapped with Panama’s Carnival, so it was busy over the weekend, with families and boisterous guests and large groups. I would recommend the resort to others if they are willing to do a bit of walking and climbing. The weather was spectacular, over 30C most days, not a drop of rain. Could not ask for more. I would return to Panama but likely look for a smaller resort

Grand Decameron Cornwall Beach: Our 7 days of nonsense.

The grounds were beautiful…sunsets stunning. Food ok, no variety and if you didn’t make the first sitting you were out of luck We moved rooms twice after waiting way past check in …so room….mediocre…no way of getting a spare pillow…after multiple people asking ….3 pillows for two people. Next…no hot water most of the time. Finally we learned that if you run it a half hr it will be Luke warm. The Ala Cartes…line up the day of to get seats 36 only can go. 12 people per sitting. 3 sittings…Had t [... read more]o take second sitting because there were 4 of us…really, smaller tables then first seating…we were fourth in line to book so not because we came late. Anyway, dinner at the ala Cart…I ordered shrimp and scallop linguine….I got shrimp only…salad bar was cleared in the first sitting and no refill. No coffee makers, 6:30 it’s supposed to be out downstairs but was late many days. Had an issue with the fan in out room. Terribly noisy. Nothing done about it…our friends had no safe in their room as the inner mechanisms were missing. Beach towels. Bleach stained thread bare if you could get one. Also ran out of some alcohol…not sure why…There was more but reliving it makes me sad for our money gone.

My wife and I have never been to this resort and here is our unbiased review. We were at the resort the last 2 weeks in Jan 2024. We had a great time at the resort, but we probably would not be returning again. Nothing major happened, but a bunch of "could be better" items just added up. The grounds were nice and kept up. Getting around the resort was fairly easy and not crowded at all. Pools near our Block 6 were not crowded, and were fairly quiet. Nice music coming from the bar a [... read more]rea at Block 6 and was not obnoxious and was a good nice atmosphere. Staff was ok, and friendly. I'm sure that we never took advantage of all the amenities that the resort offered, but then again we didn't hear of any either other than what was playing at the Auditorium and when. A bunch of positives are the buffet, which was actually really good and we commented many times that the buffet food was good and lots of variety. On the most part, food was usually fresh and warm, but as all buffets, it usually gets cold by the time you get back to your table. Tables and lineups were not too long depending on the time you went - usually at a min at buffet. The nightly shows were really great and we caught most of them. Hats off to the master of ceremonies and the crew of dancers - they were very good!! Some of the "could be better" items.. The rooms are basic. My wife and I are not "high maintenance" and not "world travers" and are basic normal appreciative people. We originally were sent to building 2, but complained about the fruit type flies and oldness smelling of the room and asked to be moved. We then went to building 6, which was much more modern. Again, the small things add up, but in our building 6 room, there was a missing lamp shade, receptacles were extremely worn out (for chargers), all dresser drawers were not able to pull out/broken and a small fridge would have been a nice touch - but nothing fancy. The bed was so hard that we went to Walmart and bought a foam to put under sheets. We asked for thinner pillows but never got any , they were made more for long neck type individuals. The doors between the next room, if you had a large family and you could open them to be connected, were paper thin and you could hear virtually everything in the adjoining room. The noise from the rooms below and the room on the other side were fairly quiet. The sun lounges were solid white plastic and looked really nice, but were extremely uncomfortable on the back and butt. They were SO much better after we bought floating air mattresses to put on the lounges to make them comfortable - big tip for future people!!. Lounges around the pools and beach were usually "taken" fairly early in the morning, and i mean early - at the beach, they were "taken" before 8am. Pretty typical for a resort, but it is frustrating to see lounges taken with towels, but not used for the day, again, pretty typical for any resort. The restaurant reservation system is a joke to be honest. You have to register the "morning of" and you have to register online. With 4 restaurants and 600+ rooms, reservations are hard to get. The major frustrating problem is getting on to the WIFI, at 8am, and registering with 599 other rooms at the same time. By 8;10 am there are no other options left but buffet. If you are not "techy" on your phone, the buffet will be your go to. The 4 restaurants were different, but ok. The Italian was by far the best one for us. Again, we would not go back to this resort, One also had to take a cab or ubur anywhere outside the resort. No shuttle service, or bus for any excursions either, I personally think the resort is rated higher than it is on line.

Grand Decameron Panama: Fantastic Holliday

Little bit dated and very little consideration for handicapped persons, that being said the hotel was kept very clean the staff were always very friendly and we were treated very well. Perhaps some evening entertainment for adults might be good. ( other than Karioki)

Royal Decameron Clean, lovely beach, good food, good drinks great service, pools are really nice, excellent choice. Bucerias is a nice funky town to be in with lots of options for shopping, art, food and music

Great location on the grounds and just outside to BUCERIAS. All fine til going home This is the only area to write seconds on boarding plane we were told to disembark aircraft due to mechanical issues 2 hour wait. Well then it went to 6 hour wait finally a 10 hour delay. Had to bring an empty plane from Toronto to pick us up and return home Air Transat issued food vouchers not worth more than one sandwich we left at 10.:10 pm arrival Toronto 3:30am We were given a $200.00 travel cred [... read more]it hardly worth a nites stay in a hotel that was available. Others missed there rides home. I drove but had to pull over twice to stay awake. Had zero alcohol for last 48 hours and a scary ride home pulled into my driveway at 7:00am. Saturday. Waste of a next day. $200.00 hardly covers what we all had to endure. Air Transat should have put us in a room for the night and flew out the next day East enough to varify what I just wrote hoping for some further consideration for compensation from air Transat. This was our first time here! We had an ocean front room on the main floor that was super convenient with a nice patio to sit out on. Our room was close to 3 of the pools, the beach & beach front bar & nice common areas to sit around close by. It was amazing going to sleep every night listening to the waves crashing on the shore! I would have an omelet made everyday by a lovely lady. One issue was not having all of the Ala carte restaurants open every day. We only made one booking as you had to be online at 8am to get into one of the available restaurants. As it was I messed up the booking but they let us stay as they had a few empty tables. We just stuck with the buffets from that point. We had no issues getting pool chairs either, which was nice. There is some need for upgrades, & upkeep needed around the place, but for the most part everything was really good. We attended a couple of the evening shows & they were great! It's a great location to walk into Bucerias. Definitely should wear runners on the rocky roads! We enjoyed our time here!

Overall we had a great time. Our first visit to this resort was 6 years ago. Love the location-close to Sayulita and downtown PV. Staff were wonderful. Our room was clean but dark. The pot light above the toilet in our room started dripping halfway through our 10 day stay. We reported it to the front desk 3 times and it was not fixed. The food was not the best sometimes lukewarm. The bathroom at the flamingo buffet was dirty and had black mold on the ceiling. The bathroom by the main pool was st [... read more]inky and gross. Seemed like there was never enough places to sit in the evening at the bars or to watch the show at the main pool. Not sure if I would go back.

We were shocked when we entered our room. Very poor lighting, 2 lights in the room plus a pole lamp that was busted, lamp shade was destroyed and no plug for it so not sure why it was even there. One dresser that was filthy and broken. Bathroom vanity had two broken doors, no shelves, literally open to the floor. We had cold water in our room for the first four days then after many complaints to front desk and maintenance staff we had luke warm water for the rest of the week. Very uncomfortable  [... read more]for showering! There were only two receptacles in the room for phone chargers, etc. and no Wi-Fi reception in room or on balcony. The complex is very spread out and quite nice. Grounds are well maintained and staff were very pleasant. Pools are nice. Bars are nice. Buffet areas are nice and clean and people working in the buffets are very friendly. However, the food in the buffets was not the best. Food was almost always cold, there were warming trays under all the food trays but it didn't look like they used them at all. Unless you got something that was just brought out, it was cold. Even some dishes just brought out were cold, like out of the fridge cold! The wi-fi on the complex is terrible. Very poor coverage and moving from one area to another got you kicked off the wi-fi and you had to login every single time. Very frustrating. You also need the wi-fi and a phone to get a reservation at one of the a la carts. That is also a very frustrating experience. You have to login at 8:00 am, choose the date, choose the restaurant, choose for how many people (maximum of 2 people / reservation), choose a time, enter your room number and your bracelet number all in a matter of seconds because every spot is taken for every sitting in literally 90 seconds! Good luck with that! And if you want to go with another couple you both have to be at a spot with wi-fi at 8:00am and you both have to do this and hope you get in. Also with hundreds of guests on wi-fi trying to to the same thing at the same time you will most likely get kicked off the wi-fi and you will be having buffet for supper! It's a terrible system and if only two out of five or six a la carts are open you will most likely not get in. Many guests I spoke with gave up trying after the first day. The location is nice. We walked to Bucerias a couple of times, also went out for dinner in Bucerias. The resort has bicycles that you can use to go for a ride, however the bicycles are not in the best of condition.

Grand Decameron Panama: Exceptional Resort

The hotel was very large, with well kept mature grounds. Rooms were standard, but spacious. Restaurant’s and amenities were adequate, and staff were helpful. Very clean and comfortable, although a lot of walking is necessary. Not everything was wheelchair accessible….but a very nice resort.

Our 5th repeat visit, obviously we like it. Grounds are beautiful, as is the beach. Staff are amazing! Super friendly. Rooms are very basic, but clean. Buffets had fresh fruit daily, and nice salads. Resort al la Carte’s are wonderful—-but very difficult to book a reservation. Resort should look at making more spots available by opening all the al la cartes nightly, not just 2-3. Evening entertainment was enjoyable. Resort has bikes available for use, although bikes are quite dated.
