Hotel Villa Cuba: Amazing Resort

This resort is clean, the public bathrooms always had toilet paper and soap to wash your hands. Our room was nice and we loved the location of the resort. It is close to downtown and within walking distance for us (15 minutes). The staff were very helpful and always happy. The restaurants were clean and operated on time. The A La Carte restaurants were some of the best we have been to before. The beach was kept clean and there were always shade to be had. Hotel Villa Cuba: Fantastic Trip

The resort was absolutely beautiful, was extremely clean all things considering. If you are okay with ants and things like that the villa is definitely the way to go. If you are not a fan then the hotel would be the spot for you. The staff is extremely funny and very upbeat definitely made the trip much more enjoyable. All around great trip at a great resort surrounded by great people.

Starfish Cayo Guillermo: good resort

If you are traveling on a budget this is a good resort. Very quiet and it almost feels like a private beach. Resort is clean. If you are looking to party or meet young people this is not the place to be. The staff was friendly for the most part. Be prepared that food will not be of high quality.

Roc Barlovento: Awesome resort

I loved everything about my stay the food was good, the staff was helpful and the beer was cold Can’t wait for next time Cuban people are so nice and know how to party I have no complaints at all See you next time

Club Kawama: Love this place!

Wonderful staff! Hotel tries to go above and beyond and offer extras like beach parties, returner dinner, awesome shows and entertainment! Daily snack bar is so good...especially late at night:) Best part is everything is right on the beach!

Starfish Cayo Guillermo: Amazing Beach

The beach was great. One of the best spots for swimming and watching the Kite Surfers. The food was not the greatest, and I basically had to get into an argument with one of the maids to get her to give me a freakin roll of toilet paper. Other than that the staff was SO awesome. Very friendly. The landscapers do an amazing job and work so hard. The tennis courts are falling apart and there was no beach volleyball so that was a bit disappointing. Hotel Villa Cuba: Commit a crime in Cuba to get better room conditions in prison than this place

My wife and I stayed at Be Live Experience Varadero (Villa Cuba) for five days between April 13 - 18. We arrived with moderate expectations but sadly disappointed even further throughout our stay. We already started rating this place the moment we stepped off our bus, beginning at 3.5 but it all went downhill from there to the point that we were looking for flights to go home on our third day, and our rating of this place dropped as low as below Zero (0) to minus -3.5, sadly, TripAdvisor has [... read more] no settings for that. If you are considering to stay at this place, this resort should pay YOU. Building and Structure - Rating 1*: The moment we pulled up, you can tell this place is extremely dated. Understandably, in Cuba, dated is fine, but neglected is another matter. Cracks, leaks, uneven floors, missing tiles, name it, you'll see it. Staff and Service - 2*: Some were decent, some were indifferent, and some were just disrespectful. Everyone (except for that ONE old guy at the Coffee Bar, he was very nice) behind the counter from the front desk to the bar were unfriendly, unapproachable, and gave us the impression that we were inconveniencing them. The ladies behind the front desk counter are constantly socializing with each other. They would continuously speak to each other in Spanish WHILE serving us. I once stood at the snack bar by the pool hoping to order some food, and the server behind the counter did not even acknowledge my presence. The server could see me clearly in front of him, and no word of a lie, he just outright ignored me but served the guy that came up behind me. Room and Accommodation 1*: Upon arrival, we paid for an upgraded room, which was located in the main building close to the Coffee Bar. We were shocked by the state of our room. The panel ceiling was falling down in the bathroom, I fixed one of the tiles that came off the side of the tub, the air conditioning had a very strong mold scent. Understandably, that accommodations in tropical climates demand that the A/C be running constantly, however, the strong scent of mold was unbearable that my wife's allergies began to make her sick. If you like feeling springs in your mattress, this is the room for you. There was also this constant leak coming from the ceiling that made a pond on the bathroom floor. Cleanliness 0*: This place is not clean. We had to buy and bring our own soap because the bathrooms in the common areas such as the one near the buffet restaurant, by the pool bar, and the lobby either had one tiny bar of soap that we had to search for or no soap at all. Food 1*: Expect the same thing served at lunch to be the same thing served at dinner. The food was bad, as expected but this is not what you come to Cuba for. Oily croutons are offered as a late night snack by the snack bar. Beach - 4.5*: The beach was nice. This was the only redeeming quality about this resort. Plenty of lounge chairs. There are spots where there's loud music and some spots are quieter. OVERALL: We're thankful we did excursions over three days so we did not have to stay at the resort the whole time. We would recommend staying somewhere else and avoid this resort.

Club Kawama: We feel at home at this resort!

We have been to Club Kawama many times in the past 41 years. The staff are friendly and helpful. The grounds are beautiful, with lots of mature trees. The beach is amazing. The buildings are old, which we consider part of the charm. The food is good and plentiful.

Club Kawama: My Home Kawama

As always I enjoyed my vacation with Kawama. I found the staff to be outstanding, polite and they are beautiful. This is my 4th time to Kawama and I absolutely love going there. I went to the returners dinner and was so amazed that Leida remembered everyone and stories about all. I will return again next year as always. Starfish Cayo Largo: Beautiful Location, Great Staff, Great Food!

My wife and I returned to 'Pelicano' April 2019 after a 4 year absence. trips to Cuba 17-18 over last 8 years With many fond memories of the hotel and the beauty of Cayo Largo we were excited to come back to a resort that somehow, instantly feels like home. Less that 10 minutes from airport!! Many of the rooms are updated inside and out, the beds and pillows were comfortable. The housekeeping staff are simply outstanding. Many will double shift, to help others, some will perform double duties, but all are only concerned with your satisfaction and happiness. The beach is gorgeous,( some of the best in the world on that little island) the sand is powder like, and like many in the Caribbean will have some days with seaweed coming ashore, the staff work tirelessly to try to keep ahead of it but they are fighting Mother Nature and we know who wins! The beach at Pelicano has not suffered as much erosion as some of the other resorts but they natural small bays for water access mostly free of seaweed. The food is much improved and consistent, in fact was some of the best I have had anywhere in Cuba for taste, and presentation. The Rancheon beach bar is a favorite for lunch for fresh grilled meats and seafood, get there early to enjoy. Remember you are on an island so food assortment may be limited. So think about how you want to eat at each meal. You do not need to stack your plate with EVERY item on the board. I could not find any food I had any issue with. Buffet and "Carte's' were outstanding. Service was above expectations and indeed a nice surprise. Please take some time and visit the Marina and take in the Turtle Sanctuary ( please Donate and\or bring turtle food from home ) and the Cigar Museum, cap this little tour with a cold one and small pizza at the little cantina. Meet the staff of the hotels here on Wednesday nights for some music, dancing, etc. A great Natural location. Yes... Natural, nudity is acceptable so get over yourself before you go... After the first 10 minutes you will have acclimatized and will just enjoy ALL of this islands scenery. We will be back soon!!! Thanks to all staff and management for an outstanding vacation.

Roc Barlovento: Great Vacation

From check in to check out we had no problems . This adults only resort is walking distance to everything, the bus is right outside the front door. Our room was nice , comfortable bed, clean, everything worked. The food was very tasteful, hot and a great selection . The staff are all very helpful, they work hard to make your stay everything you hope for. The beach is perfect and made for swimming and walking. Starfish Cayo Largo: Fantastic beach

Another great vacation at Pelicano. Our room was on the second floor as requested with king bed; the maid service was good, our room was kept very clean and we had plenty of fresh towels. We had hot water consistently. Food was good, selection sometimes limited. The only downside was the lack of adequate palapas on the beach which causes issues. The beach is why we go but when there are not enough palapas it's a problem

Roc Barlovento: Quiet, well run Resort

Spent a lovely relaxing week at the Barlovento. This well run, small Adult-only Resort is within the town of Varadero itself, so it is easy to walk around, visit local cafes or the Artisan Market. This is not one of the "Party Resorts" so you can rest undisturbed or take a short taxi ride to Calle 62, Beatles Bar area if you do want to dance & Party. Roc Barlovento: Adults only resort

We stay in this resort from March 30- April 6/ 2019. Resort is small but very cosy. We brought our bikes with us, cost us $30 per bike. My husband did bike to Havana with Cuban cyclist. Food: I am vegan so I had limited choices at breakfast. I don’t eat dairy, meat or eggs. My breakfast was dry oat meal with hot water and fruits, lunch and dinner had lots of varieties for me. Location: This hotel is located at calle 12, bank is at calle 32, best exchange rate can $1=0.72 CUC. Beach: We are beach people so we stay there , lots of chairs , beach and water gorgeous. The only think I didn’t like is that lots of Smokers. Room: simple clean, in our hot water pressure was low, I would recommend to stay on main floor. Our flight was at midnight and we have to leave our room at noon. We put our language in language room and spend all day at the beach, reception will give you a room on main floor to shower and change so you do not have to pay extra 25 CUC to keep your room. Location of this hotel is perfect if you like to walk and explore Varadero. In this hotel average age group is 50 years old. Lots of Canadians and Europeans - no Russians and no disco. Over all nice cosy 3.5 star hotel

The beach is beautiful food in restaurants amazing, you can find food from every country Rooms are good only maids do not maintain properly live Cuban music during lunch every day yoga on the beach service at the bar and restaurants are beautiful with plenty of chaise beautiful umbrellas I think I'll go again :)

We were really happy in this beach and we were having fun with the people and the stuff were nice and helpful. The food was very clean and good. I recommed people to go to this this place and relax their mind.

Starfish Cayo Largo: Beautiful beach

This was our 3rd vacation at Hotel Pelicano and for the most part we were satisfied. The beach was as beautiful as ever and was raked and the seaweed buried daily. As long as you marked your lounge chairs early in the morning you were guaranteed to get a spot if not they were few and far between. Chairs at the pool seemed easier to reserve but not always was there an extra umbrella to keep you out of the sun. The food was good, no one went hungry! The Ranchero restaurant on the beach was the best for lunch and for a special sunset dinner we couldn't have been better taken care of by Yanni. He is truly a class act. The pool was clean and the activities fun. The shower temperature was hot and the air conditioning worked. The dance/entertainment staff were always friendly and helpful. Our air Transat rep Jose was excellent and booked us in on the sunset Cruise which was a lot of fun and I would highly recommend. Now for the things that we thought needed improvement , The pizza bar although good wasn't as good as it was before, the crust being more like a pita than pizza crust. Communication with the lobby staff was again difficult. There was one young girl who shouldn't be dealing with the public at all and unlike most hotel staff seemed disinterested in her job. We arrived on a Friday night, on Saturday I spoke to the lobby staff to ask for a different hairdryer because the one supplied didnt work. After 3 attempts throughout the week I finally gave up. All in all we had a wonderful trip and will certainly go back.

Club Kawama: Home away from home

Once again a fabulous time at Club Kawama. From the staff to the food to the beach to the entertainment to my single residence cabin on the beach, it was an absolutely fantastic week. My only regret was I didn't stay longer. Can't wait to go back.
