Iberostar Origin Laguna Azul: Awful ressort

Hotel is in bad shape .Advertises air conditioning in eating areas and main buffet,but none of them are functioning. No flat sheets on bed, only contour sheets. We could not get flat sheets and had to cover ourselves with musty bed covers.No bath towels available so they provided beach towels that did not smell fresh.There was no toaster in buffet area. Really awful service. I would not recommend. I dont understand how this ressort is advertised as a Top seller on your web site. Only nice  [... read more]thing is the beach.

Iberostar Selection Ensenachos: Amazing resort! Great value for the money!

The beaches are absolutely AMAZING! The resort is not new but has a certain colonial charm to it and given the circumstances the staff is doing their best to keep it in good shape. People are very friendly and willing to help. We had a very pleasant experience. There is a large variety of good foods. And drinks as much as one might dream of. And there is ice available all over the place. If you're looking for a top notch 5+ stars experience you should find another resort (and possibly pay doub [... read more]le or more), as this might not be for you. But if you're not too picky and looking for a really nice quiet place to relax and have a great vacation with stunning beaches and great people around you, this is a great resort to go to.

Iberostar Origin Laguna Azul: Definately not a 4.5 star. More like a 3 star!

This hotel has seen its hay day back 25 years ago. Chexk in: Check-in was unorganized and they gave us the wrong room and bracelets. (We paid for the VIP adults-only section and they did not give us that). We had to bring it up to them and that's when they looked us up on the computer again and noted we had the wrong room and bracelets. Staff and meals: The stay itself wasn't that bad. The staff was amazing Enrique, Dyron were the best (apart from the front reception staff) The a [... read more] la carte restaurants were pretty yummy. The buffet was boring and the food was very repetitive (to be expected in cuba). On the weekend when the locals checked in, the buffet was definately over capacity. they ran out of alot of things so if u dont eat at regular dinner time 6-7 (busiest time at the buffet) you may not get much to eat. Snack bar was non existent. We went looking for it ine one night and we were told it was the buffet after it closed, then when we went looking for it on the weekend it was the beach bar. Not sure why it changed. Maybe more people allowed them to open the actual snack bar? Biggest Minus: The main problem is that there is no security in sight. So ADULT ONLY SECTION WAS NOT ADULT ONLY. Almost every day we had kids in the VIP area swimming in our pools (sans diaper) or in our dedicated adults only restaurant. The employees tried to get then to leave but without security to enforce it, it was a lost cause. Our rooms Our rooms were pretty spacious, but completely outdated. The room was very clean when we checked in. looked like noone had slept in that room for a while. Our pillow had mold on it when we checked in, asked for a new one right away (got it next day) The resort its self had an abandoned hotel feel to it. Like they are just waiting for everything to crumble around them. Our room keys had issues all week, I literally spent more time at the reception fixing my keys than enjoying too much else. Pools: Main pool was pretty nasty (dirty) but I spent more time at the adult only pool so it didn't bother me. It was cleaner but not sure for how much longer. Unfortunately many parents had the same idea, which was very disappointing given i paid extra for adults only section. Beach: nothing like the beaches in Cuba. Very pretty an a++. Entertainment was primarily on this beach throughout the day. They are renovating so the sitting area is a bit small which wasn't a problem until the weekend when Cubans checked in. The hotel seemed very full to above capacity. Overall: Hotel is i would say in my opinion a 3 star not a 4.5. Not sure how long ago Trip central reviewed it but maybe they should go back and look again. I will never go back to this hotel again except to say hello to all the great friends we made there. I have been to.cuba many, many times and this one was the worst I have ever experienced.

The grounds are beautiful. There was a drought so the fountain features were not working and very dry landscape unfortunately. The hotel rooms were very clean. I did have a pack of hair ties taken from our room, so I would suggest locking or putting valuables and small items away. The water was shut off 3 days out of the week for 2 hours in the afternoons. It was very uncomfortable to say the least. Due to the gasoline shortage, the resort ran out of popular soft drink our second day there and had still not been replenished upon our departure. We booked an ocean view room, but it was not very nice at all. There were many trees before the ocean was nicely visible. The main beach was more than a 10 minute walk from our room and the shuttles were not running regularly due to battery issues. There were really not enough shuttles for that size of a resort. We had no body wash in our shower and never refilled. The staff was amazing and very friendly. They tried their best to work though any issues. The entertainment was ok. Not much entertainment during the days at all. I did not find the entertainment team very engaging with the guests at all. The Mediterranean and Japanese A La Carte venues were fantastic, but there needs to be more emphasis during the ride from the airport to hotel to pre-book them as soon as possible. They book out very quickly. The tours we booked were great. City and Sunset Catamaran. The cost into the city at $25 pp was a bit much. I gauge it at no more the $15-18pp would be a better deal. We were unable to check into our return flight on the WestJet app or Sunwing web page, but the check in at the Holguin airport was very fast and easy. The resort was clean, and very well maintained. We did have a lovely time regardless of any small inconveniences. I would rate it a 4 star property at most.

Iberostar Origin Laguna Azul: Great Resort!

Great entertainment, food and drink selections. Just no beach towels available for the whole week. Other than that, it was a great experience overall. Staff were very friendly and always greeted us wth a smile.

Iberostar Origin Laguna Azul: No water to drink for 1 day

We had worst experience for our first 48 hours of our trip. The water pipe was broken . There wasn’t any water to get bath or washroom for first day . In the second day, there wasn’t any water to drink . Yes, they just have soda water and no ice.the washroom was discussing and all the resort was smelled. My kids had a rough time. I understand that couple of resort had this problem but sunwing doesn’t want to clearly explain the situation and they kept saying the water will fixed. Iberostar Coral Holguin: Had a fun, relaxing time!

We went on a girls trip and had a wonderful time. The resort is well maintained and we had all the essentials needed. The room was very clean and welcoming. The air conditioning was a blessing, as well as the ceiling fan. It had a beautiful balcony with lounge chairs, overlooking the pool area. We were welcomed kindly at the reception area and brought to our rooms efficiently. Throughout our stay, I found the staff friendly, kind and personable. There was a wide variety of activities, lead by  [... read more]Carlos. We participated in Aquafit and Cocktail making classes by the pool. Carlos was energetic and tried to include every guest. The lifeguards at the pool were friendly and we enjoyed getting to know them, especially Frank.The staff at the restaurant were always there to make sure you were taken care of. The cooks, as well as the bar and wait staff were always friendly and accommodating. The pool was great and the beaches beautiful. We have already talked about returning and look forward to seeing the staff again. We feel like we made some wonderful friends.

Iberostar Coral Holguin: Terrific Resort in Holguin

The Coral Level Iberostar Resort was an amazing place for a relaxing holiday. The rooms were spacious and very clean. The pool and grounds were very well cared for. The beach was stunning! The staff (lifeguards, maids, event coordinator, bar-tenders, cooks, waiters, butlers) were all very friendly toward guests. In particular, Frank, the lifeguard, took the time to interact with guests and Carlos planned fun and engaging activities.

Iberostar Selection Rose Hall Suites: Awesome

All were great except on arrival I was put in block 3 and the rest of our group put in block 4 I requested a change to block 4 but was told none was available till the following day. Therefore I had to spend 1 night in block 3 lo And behold the shower door could not open I reported it they came and fixed it the next day I migrated to block 4 with the rest or our group and all was well after that

Iberostar Selection Varadero: Amazing resort and staff

Tammy from Trip Central.ca help us with the booking. The staff and resort was excellent. Amazing beach. Food was ok , restaurant we're ok too. overall. Not much variety. Flights were late. Will definitely come back .

Iberostar Coral Esmeralda: Very nice and clean resort

We had very very good time in Coral Iberostar adults only section.Hotel is very very nice.Service excellent food and room very good.We had room with swim out so it was perfect for us.Beach was so nice with turquoise ocean.I really recommend this resort.

Iberostar Origin Daiquiri: Not bad except...

The hotel room was more than adequate. Cleaned daily. Housekeeping staff very thorough, attentive and kind. Water pressure was fine and plenty of hot water. Pool was good, no complaints. Plenty of lounge chairs as it's slow season. Buffet was adequate/good. Chicken, beef and pork every day. Pasta was amazing. Assortment of fresh fruits and veggies. Lots of bread, no eggs at all. Biggest issue: local cubans arrived, and took over the entire resort. I observed at the snack bar, numerous times peo [... read more]ple ordering stacks of ham and cheese buns, like 10 of them. They eat 2 and throw the rest out. This goes on all day, everywhere. And you are stuck waiting 1/2 hour for a sandwich. The buffet is even worse. They race in, swarm the buffet, grab 3 or 4 plates each, stacked high with all the meat, bread, cakes, ice cream.. and then they WASTE IT ALL! ..Except for the day they are leaving. Where they take practically everything they can from the buffet. The entire grill of meat..ALL the cakes...everything...then they throw it in containers and take it with them. After waiting 45mins for them to be done, there's not much left. And it's picked over. They leave their garbage everywhere, paper cups, plates, cigarette butts, dirty diapers. I spoke with someone about this, and my understanding is management is afraid to address this because they fear retaliation.(bad reviews or loud arguments) and staff go along with it because they fear reprisal from management. It would have been an excellent vacation spot but for the 3 or 4 days of dealing with this. All the staff are tremendously friendly, warm, helpful and kind. The only other issue i had was the beach. A lot of plant matter raked up in long strips on the beach and left to rot, which stank. And the water has a lot of sea shells, and coral, which requires water shoes. However there's a much nicer beach. Playa Pillar which is a short bus ride away. I would not return to this resort until I was assured that management has found a way to address the locals.

Iberostar Waves Punta Cana: Not a 5-star

The staff were only friendly when I slipped them US cash. The staff have disdain for English-speaking people. My attempts to speak Spanish were received by mocking me. One server made fun of my son for his stutter and ignored him after that. No one showed us around on the first day. The valet just told us to use the app to orient ourselves. The app had the restaurant hours wrong. Food was great. The beach was terrible. I had a better experience at a 3-star in Mexico and Cancun. I will never go b [... read more]ack.

Iberostar Selection Ensenachos: Beautiful place and service

We stayed at Coral ensenacho adult only. Ground was beautiful with so many white butterflies everywhere, felt like we are in heaven. Villa was huge!! Bigger than my house in Toronto!! Jacuzzi in terrace with table set and loungers. 3 bathroom, 2 walk-in closet, kitchen, and 2 beautiful huge bedrooms. Food was good, enough variety, lots of drinks. Only little problem was no wifi connection inside our room. And 24 hours snack bar was very far, we have to wait for the Cart Because this resort was so big, we need more time to find all the facilities.

Iberostar Coral Esmeralda: Amazing hotel

Very nice hotel . I would recommend the hotel to anyone who wants to go to Cuba The beach is beautiful . The staff are amazing Food and drinks are great . Restaurants are great. We had a very good time. We will be back soon.

Iberostar Coral Esmeralda: Great Place To Relax!

Great hotel if looking to relax. Rooms were good but a bit run down compared to photos. Staff was amazing but food selection was not good and a lot of flies always on the food. Drink selection was okay but not as good as other resorts I’ve stayed at. Beach was a 5/5 but beach bar closed at 4 pm also No swim up pool. Would not consider this hotel a 5 star,

Iberostar Origin Playa Alameda: Nice but empty resort

The resort was a bit in need of some maintenance/updating. It seems the photos of the resort and its condition haven't been updated in a bit. The resort is nicer in photos and not many people when the 3 of us visited however, the staff were very very friendly and fun to be around, the food was better than what I was expecting based on the research I did and what people had to say on forums about resort food in Cuba. Iberostar Origin Bella Vista Varadero: Trip with Friends

The photo of the resort is deceiving beach no longer looks like the picture following a storm. Service is hit and miss. Good service in certain areas - snack bar and Star Prestige area but pool bar and lobby bar very slow and tend to ignore you most of the time while they talk. Food in buffet and al carte was often cold. Food in the Star Prestige area was good. Ran out daily of soft drinks and juices but had them the next day. Seemed like they were rationing. Room was tired and run down. T [... read more]oilet constantly ran. Nothing in the room minibar (have never seen that) and in Star Prestige they would not give you drinks to take back to your room. Acquiring fresh towels for the room and beach was difficult. They were always out early morning and nothing further available during the day. The only highlights were being with our friends and the resort put on and amazing Canada Day celebration with good food, music and entertainment and followed a few days later with a Cuban Day. If the rest of the week had been at that level my review would be different. This resort could be so much better if they addressed the above inadequacies. We had only been in Varadero three weeks before st a resort three minutes away and hsd a fabulous time - good service, beautiful room and good food and drinks. Unfortunately, we will.not return to Iberostar Origin Bella Vista.

Staff is wonderful! The food is what it is but won't starve. Had eggs everyday for breakfast. The have fruit, cheese, pasta, pizza, fish, pork, chicken, all sorts of different salads. Rooms are good. Beautiful pools and beach.
