Riu Ocho Rios: Wonderful resort!

We went for a nice relaxing vacation and that is what we had. The beach was wonderful and there was no shortage of chairs. The resort is very large and spread out. Food was good, not outstanding, but good. Rooms were very clean and comfortable. Staff were amazing! Always pleasant and welcoming. Would recommend!

Riu Reggae: Great time

Had a great time here. The weather wasn't stellar, however I met lots of interesting people. It's popular with the English. Some of the food was really good. i. e. Jerk chicken on the beach. The à la cartes had some element of buffet in it. Salad bar, desert... The resort is on the smaller side. Close to the airport. The entertainment was hit and miss. I was shortchanged on my trip due to my flight being canceled and missing out on three nights. I hope some sort of compensation is to follow.

Riu Ocho Rios: Ok resort

Great room, small beach with no palapas. No chairs available after 10am on the beach. No drink service on the beach. Lots of people, not a lot of space. Lots of people smoking everywhere (cigarettes and other herbs…) Service with a smile was a rarety… Food was good but no scramble eggs pass 9am and buffet is small for the amount of people at the time at the resort. Restaurants were good and portion very generous. Drinks were good with lots of options but wait at the bars is too long (all of them [... read more]!) Riu Caribe Cancun: Acceptable Vacation

I paid more for this resort than I did for my vacation in Sept 2025 staying at a villa. In most resorts the restaurants are a dining experience but here the restaurants are buffet with a served entree. I didn't have eat at Kulinarium because they gave me a pager and told me that it would be a 15 min wait but when I came back 30 min later to see what was going on, the restaurant was all set up and empty. The bad part was I proceeded to the buffet and it was closed so I had to settle for a sandw [... read more]ich at the sports bar. I don't think the buffet lives up to RIU standards. I would categorize it to be weak. The rooms seemed to have been renovated and very nice. As a single traveler I paid a $500 surcharge and was given a room that overlooked a back alley with a Taxi waiting zone. I didn't complain or ask to be moved. Room service was very thorough. I didn't find the pool bar staff to be overly friendly until they were tipped. I must say in general I didn't see a lot of tipping. I DO TIP!!. The Lobby Bar & Sports Bar were very friendly and efficient, popcorn & peanuts a great touch. I didn't experience any problem for a lounge chair and I didn't come out before 8:30am. The stretch of beach is only the width of the resort. I like to walk past many resorts. Property is in good condition. Check in and out was good. I wasn't to impressed that on departure, I wasn't allowed to take my duffle bag on wheels into the buffet because it was considered a carry-on. but inflated back packs were allowed. I've been travelling twice a year to Mexico for 35 years and never experienced this.

Riu Flamingos: Better than expected

Overall the newly reno’d hotel met or exceeded my expectations. There was no issue finding seating around the pools with both sunny and shaded areas available. Sadly the beach chairs had zero shade as they, apparently, cut down all the trees. Entertainment was decent, with a good live band at times. Food at the buffet was fine although they need a few lessons in how to carve a roast rather than hack it to bits. The Asian a la carte was just more buffet but the others were fine. Our room was in a [... read more] brand new building so everything worked perfectly. Would I go back? Probably not as it was located well away from anything- 5km to main Nuevo Vallarta and 12km to PV itself.

Riu Palace Aruba: Great stay in Aruba

We recently stayed at the Riu Palace in Aruba and overall had a very enjoyable experience. We were in the newly renovated building, and the room was absolutely stunning — modern, spacious, and beautifully designed. Because one of the resort’s buildings was closed for remodeling, the property felt relaxed and never overly crowded, which we really appreciated. The beach area is one of the highlights — wide, pristine, and perfect for long walks. The location is also fantastic, with plenty of restaurants and shops just a few minutes’ walk away. We also walked to Eagle Beach, which also has beautiful views. While the resort itself was lovely, the food at the à la carte restaurants was somewhat underwhelming and a bit bland for our taste. By the end of our trip, we found ourselves sticking mostly to the buffet, which had more consistent options. That said, the staff were excellent — always friendly, attentive, and eager to help, which really added to our overall stay.

Riu Flamingos: Nice surprise!

We really enjoyed our stay at the newly renovated Riu Jalisco. The resort is beautifully decorated and well maintained, with employees constantly cleaning everywhere. The staff was polite, friendly and hard working. The resort lay out is simple and well thought out for the most part. However, the show/disco area is located at the centre of the resort, which means that the sound can be heard from most guest rooms until late at night, which can be a problem at times. The beach is one of the best we have seen in years. Unfortunately, there is no shade. There are lots of chairs at the beach and the pools. We appreciated not having to look for a spot early in the morning. All and all, we had a great vacation and we are looking forward to going back.

Riu Flamingos: A very nice newly renovated, all inclusive resort

The resort was very nice and on a lovely stretch of beach in the Riviera Nayarit area. It is a little far removed from main PV area where most excursions run from so be prepared to do at least 45 min or more travel time to get them. There are only 3 true ala cart restaurants, The American (which has a very limited menu), the Italian and the Steak House which were both very good. The food is all very typical "all inclusive" rate food, there is something for everyone so you won't go hungry, but it is by no means spectacular. The pools are lovely and there are always lots of loungers in the sun and shade available so you don't have to get up early and place your towels to reserve a spot, unless there is one you really want. The staff are all very friendly and the entire resort is kept very clean. The mini fridges in the rooms are supposed to be stocked every 2 days, but we had to ask anytime we needed something. There are also plenty of loungers on the beach, although not a lot of shade, since the palm trees were cut back during the renovations. We were lucky enough to be there during whale birthing time so saw lots of activity in the bay. They have paddle boards and kayaks you can borrow and go out to follow the many dolphins about. Overall a good resort for just adults and families as well.

Riu Dunamar: nice, small resort

If you’re coming to Mexico mainly for pool time and drinks, this place will suit you. But beyond the hotel itself, there’s really nowhere to walk or explore in the evenings. The beach has beautiful white sand and is very long, great for walking. Unfortunately, during our stay it was extremely windy with big waves, which made getting into the water — let alone swimming — quite difficult. There are no umbrellas on the beach, only tall palm trees, which can be an issue if you’re looking for prop [... read more]er shade. The main pool didn’t feel as large as it looks in the photos. It was quite crowded and full of kids most of the time. The room was fine — clean, with a balcony and a distant ocean view overlooking most of the hotel complex. Once the windows were closed, it was quiet enough at night. As for the restaurants, the main buffet was good, with a decent variety of food, fruits, juices, coffee, breads, cookies, and ice cream. There are about 4–5 à la carte restaurants and no reservation is required, which sounds convenient, but in practice it means waiting anywhere from 20 minutes to an hour for a table. The menus were the same throughout the week. What was supposed to be the “gourmet” restaurant ended up being the worst dining experience. Our flight home was very late, so we asked (and offered to pay) for a late checkout. Management showed no flexibility. In the evening we were told to come back in the morning to speak with the manager, who simply told us it wasn’t possible. It felt like the issue was just passed along rather than addressed. Checkout is strictly at 12:00. Overall, this was disappointing. I won’t be returning.

Riu Palace Costa Rica: Amazing Resort!

I thought the resort was great but the staff made it amazing. They were always so happy and polite and always asking if there are any issues. Friendliest staff I have ever experienced in my travels. Especially Angela who made sure we were taken care of at the pool with our drinks and her infections smile!

Riu Dunamar: Riu Dunamar

This resort has lots to offer for everyone Very Clean well maintained Great staff Good working elevators Buffet lots to choose from Le Carts never tried Seafood one though Pools very clean but could use more washrooms but Ceceila at washroom by the towels does an amazing job There's a Grill that serves Hamburg Hotdogs Fries Salsa Chips by adult pool very good but watch out for seagulls Front lobby Bar hangout at night time after Shows sometimes Good entertainment lots of Riu parties there fun G [... read more]ood music Katy on the activity team excellent Deny at the lobby Bar Michelle by the adult pool Great waterslides for all ages very clean pools Would recommend this resort

Riu Palace Macao: Great vacation

Our room at first was horrible but went to front desk told be to return at 3pm, I did and they gave me keys for another room to check it out 100 percent better and moved after the first night. Buffet was good but if not there when first open if you want hot food you need to find someone making something any hot food sitting was normally cool (microwave might have helped) overall thou great time and meet great people!

Riu Playa Blanca: Excellent resort

Beautiful resort, very clean grounds, food was great with a lot of variety, service was great but could be better if the staff spoke English. The staff did not speak English at all which was a bit disappointing, I asked for a glass of wine and the girl just took everything from my table. Even the entertainment staff very few spoke English. Otherwise we had a wonderful time

Riu Dunamar: Good resort

Good resort for our needs everything close pool area near, a la cartes and buffet close by great for elderly people food good ,entertainment good ,sport bar and lobby bar good service excellent cleanliness top notch .sport bar morning server pool bar server Michelle,Alex ,lobby bar Dany she was on speed dial awesome, also entertainment team Katy and others were great.

Riu Playa Blanca: Relaxing and Safe Resort

This was our 4th visit to RIU Playa Blanca. We have always requested ocean view. We requested a room change which we were able to do on our second night of a 7-night stay. We got the full ocean view after the room change. The first room was partial ocean view. When you looked out the window of the first room you do not see the ocean. Only the rooms across the other side of the U shape of the hotel. You only saw the ocean when you were on the right side of the balcony Food is always good at the b [... read more]uffets and specialty restaurants. Cocktails are amazing and you can request your favourite drink that is not on the cocktail menu. Hotel is very clean and staff very friendly. We will go back for sure! Good value for money.

Riu Flamingos: A wonderful resort

The remodelling is great. The rooms are amazing. The staff are very friendly and helpful. Just be careful around the pools they are very slippery to walk around. we saw many people slip and fall around them. We had a wonderful time there and the sunsets are amazing.

Riu Playa Blanca: Great vacation

Very pleasant and well run resort. Nice beach , guaranteed weather and warm ocean water. Polite and very friendly crew. Great food with a lot of selections. The varieties of the evening shows with professional performers.

Riu Palace Antillas: Great food, exceptional staff

Loved the grounds, always lots of loungers available, good shade everywhere. Food always great, good variety, plentiful. Loved the pot of coffee at breakfast, hot, but coffee on weak side. Staff very accommodating, keep rooms immaculately clean. Elevators breaking down daily. Are old, need to be replaced. Hallways are dirty, carpets should be replaced.

Riu Palace Jamaica: Another great Riu holiday

Another great holiday at the Riu palace Montego Bay. Nothing to complain about here.great food service and value for money. The resort is spotless and the staff can’t do enough for you. Would recommend this resort and will return for another holiday.

Riu Latino: Just ok!

Booking with Trip Central was smooth. Self serve at Ottawa airport was great. Flight - cramped seats with no padding. Please bring back Elite program Transfer to hotel was ok, no beverages offered. Check-in at hotel was ok although they did not respect the lines, one line for RiU club class, one line for guests that were already registered. People lined up wherever. ROOMS: very clean, room could use additional furniture such as desk. The fridge was well stocked. Plenty of clothes hange [... read more]rs in closet. I love the RiU application where you can request maintenance, order additional towels, blankets, pillows, drinks etc…very efficient and super quick delivery. FOOD: The restaurants were not great, the Asian restaurant is a buffet, all meats served in all restaurants are over cooked. The food is better at the buffet but if you don’t get it off the grill, the food is under a light and not always hot. The omelette/egg station offers precooked eggs and omelettes but not the greatest. They will make you a custom omelette but be prepared to wait as their priority is making large batches at a time. There is plenty of fruits and vegetables and ready made salads which were tasty. The resort does not have any outdoor terrace for dining other than Pepe’s food which serves frozen beef patties, hot dogs, fries, nachos and sometimes chicken and tacos, Nothing is really worth it here! Best to go to buffet! DRINKS: no complaints, red, white, rose wine, sangria, proseccos all good, mixed drinks, frozen margaritas, ceasars, frozen mango daiquiri, gin and tonic, beer were all good. SLIDES - did not try but they looked like a lot of fun PARTY - mostly hosted at another sister resort, transportation provided, many participated and seemed to have had a blast SPORTS BAR - open 24 hours, also best place for cappuccinos, lattes in the morning. You can also get pastries and pre made burritos and sandwiches and fresh fruits SHOP - open 7am to 11 pm, pricey but not as bad as other hotels I visited STAFF: Attentive, polite, welcoming and a great asset to the resort BEACH - lots of chairs, great for long walks, we had red flag most of our stay due to high winds POOLS: lots of chairs, the pools are close together so even if you are at a pool with no bar or activity you can still hear the action happening not far. I don’t think I will return because of the food, I always found something to eat but it was repetitious and eating at the buffet for 3 meals every day quickly becomes monotonous.
