Hotel Bella Costa: Tired but Livable

The resort has been around for a few years & needs some upkeep. If you are just going for a week it's manageable. The A/C dripped on the floor, some lights didn't work & the beds were poor. The hotel seemed to be understaffed and, to quote another guest, "the hardest all-inclusive to get drunk at in Cuba", referring to the very slow bar service. The al-la-carte meals didn't really resemble the nationalities they were supposed to represent, in particular the Japanese food. The layout of the food  [... read more]in both buffet style restaurants was not conducive to people getting food quickly - line-ups blocking dishes, dishes behind doors only accessible by one person at a time, etc. At the end you get what you pay for and the quality was mostly inline with what was paid. A few simple changes at the hotel and it would easily be much better.

Hotel Bella Costa: Good resort

Grounds such as flower beds were not done.. Entrance and lounges were very nice. Dining had lots of variety. Fruit quality was poor.Staff was attentive ,freindly, well dressed. Good variety of entertainment. Rooms were clean but old.

Breezes Bahamas: Great value resort

Lots to do. Good beach, solid food. Room are clean. Everything is compact. Staff was courteous. Not the poshest resort. But great value for the money; compared to other resorts in the Bahamas. Located away from the busy cruise ship area for some peace, but a quick taxi or bus ride to the downtown markets and restaurants. Stay away from this resort during March Break unless you want to party! Excursions were reasonable and easily accessible.

Breezes Bahamas: Loved it

We just returned from 4 days at the breezes and we had an amazing time ! The beach was unreal , the staff were fantastic and the food was amazing ! The pools were very nice as well , lots of chairs and lots of games during the day. In the evening the outdoor hot tub was really nice too. We were lucky enough to see a sea turtle at our beach! All in all it was an amazing trip ! We loved , loved the resort and will be back.

Breezes Bahamas: Great Value

Even though it is an older property it is still a nice getaway. The grounds are beautiful, the rooms are clean and you cannot beat the beach. The food at the garden of Eden is excellent and the buffet has a nice variety. Great value for the money and I will return for another stay.

Breezes Bahamas: Amazing Resort

The staff was very polite and attentive. Food was super good. Rooms and amenities were very clean. The beach was excellent. I would recommend this resort to my friends and family. Would like to visit again. Five stars.

Hotel Bella Costa: Resort needs improvement

The hotel location is great however the hotel needs some major renovations. Looking old and worn. Beach was beautiful and the hotel staff were very friendly and welcoming. Thank you to Osmaira who looked after our room. We loved the towel figures. The restaurant food needs a great deal of improvement. There was no jams jellies for breakfast. No coffee or tea for dinner.

We booked Breezes Bahamas through trip central.ca. Our agent; Tammy Beamish was awesome! Very helpful throughout the entire booking process. The resort itself was also very good. Great room. Great food, staff & services. The beach was HUGE & right there! Highly recommend!

Jewel Runaway Bay Resort: Great for kids

The resort was beautiful and staff was very friendly! This is a great resort for families with small children. The food was good although the options were limited especially in the buffet. Beach was nice but not very deep. Entertainment was good but ended very early so there wasn't much to do past 10:00 pm. Water park was amazing!

Hotel Bella Costa: Great resort

The food was great. The room was clean. Beach was beautiful. Since this was my friend's 7th return visit back to the same resort - they should return to previous policy of extra perks for returning guests: golf passes, etc. More chairs needed in the outside lobby area.

Hotel Bella Costa: A good resort for the money

This is a small resort which I liked.A short distance to the beach, dinning rooms, lobby, 3-4 min.each. The resort is old, adequately maintained. Friendly staff, mostly. It consists of 3-4 stories main building and a few villas. My accommodation was in the villa, a very nice room, AC not very efficient, could not regulate, very noisy,the lock to the patio door,( a ground floor) broken, not repaired, plumbing worked. The beach is great, weather was excellent the whole week, one can survive a few inconveniences. It was worth the money.

Breezes Bahamas: Amazing Trip

It seemed that our vacation was starting off with a two hour delay of our flight which we ended up arriving at the hotel at 12:30 am. We were tired so decided to just turn in for the night. The room was clean fresh and newly renovated and also a beach view which we had requested and pleasantly surprised we got. What an amazing experience. Staff were all super friendly. We were a bit hesitant about going in Feb cause we were told that it would be a bit cool but weather was very nice and hot. Would we go back. That is a definite yes. Thank you O' Neil for helping us book the Breezes. I would rate this hotel a solid 4 star if not better..

Jewel Runaway Bay Resort: Jewel Runaway Bay!

The hotel was ok, when we checked in they were going to put us in a room with 2 double beds when we asked for a king and 2 singles. We ended upgrading to a bigger room with butler service for $920.00 US dollars. If I would have seen the room before I paid I would never have done it as it was not a upgrade really, dated room with nothing special and the butler service was useless! Lunches at the grill were awesome and so was the pizza! Dinners were good especially at the Japanese restaurant! All in all a pretty good holiday except for paying the $920 US to upgrade which was a bit of a scam and left a bitter taste for me.

Jewel Runaway Bay Resort: Decent good for kids

Hotel is just ok. Staff was nice. Water park is great for kids. If you are travelling with kids this is the place to go. If not the. Probably not the best place. Beach is good and the food is decent too

Jewel Runaway Bay Resort: Loved This Resort!

My children and I spent a week at Jewel Runaway Bay and loved every moment! The hotel was clean, the grounds were meticulously maintained, the restaurants offered every type of food you'd want, and the staff was amazing! I can't wait to return!

Breezes Bahamas: amazing

Rooms are good food delicious beach I love it and the service are good ,location are perfect and the activities and intertaiment are very nice we had lots of fun I recommend it to everybody to come and spend vacation here

Hotel Bella Costa: Still the Best!

This is a very small and intimate resort where the staff get to know you and treat you like family. I just completed my 5th trip to Bella Costa and even though it is in need of some tender loving care, I'll go back. The hotel rooms are large, the villas are like mini condos - but many need to be updated. The beach is amazing and it is cleaned of seaweed everyday. The A la Carte restaurants are excellent, however the Japanese one does serve small portions. They have a snack bar that is open until 6:00 a.m. serving hot dogs, hamburgers, fries, and pizza. Bars have the friendliest bar tenders who will make your drink to your liking. Entertainment staff are awesome and ensure you have fun. Reception staff will go beyond to ensure you get checked in/out as quickly as possible. If you should have any problems or concerns with your accommodations, just speak to them and they will do whatever they can to make things right. Because this resort is small everything is close by: pool, beach, hotel, villa, restaurants, etc. One trip to Bella Costa is never enough!

Hotel Bella Costa: Great Time going again!

The Bella Costa staff was great and friendly. Food lots to pick from and the Special Restaurants at night were great. Must make reservations. The beaches were amazing! Did lots of traveling - Varadero markets great shopping, Catamaran great and the beach and lunch were amazing, Havana for the day was great, although too much to see in a day, got to go and stay a couple of days. Weather was great when I was there. All around a great vacation!!

Hotel Bella Costa: Great Resort

Hotel Bella Costa was very good for old. Eveñ though the resort has been around for a long time I found the hotel to have better accommodation then the newer resort in Cuba. The was a leak in the ceiling where some of my thing got wet. They changed the room fast abd gave a free massage. The beach and ocean is was clean and nice location. Beach bar was far from the beach but at least they were fast. Hotel Bella Costa: Leisure rest

This resort consists of two parts: main building and several smaller (2 storey) buildings grouped together. The main building looks a little too big and "city-like", we stayed in one of the smaller ones and the accommodation was really great: we had a two level suit - huge living with balcony and 2 bedrooms higher up. All very clean, room service VERY good, everything worked. Beach great for beach lovers: sand and shallow, sandy, gradually deepening water entrance - great for small kids. Sea life - close to nil so snorkelling non-existent (one can as well snorkel in a swimming pool), hotel staff was ferrying people with small catamarans to a small snorkelling site about 15 minutes sailing. Did not go so cannot comment but the whole layout of the ocean did not look promising for snorkelling enthusiasts. Food plenty, some good but generally I would fire their chief:) the food preparation was not imaginative, good professional chief could have done much better with the same ingredients. Menu restaurants - not recommended. Coffee absolutely ATROCIOUS in all places. If somebody goes there I recommend to ask for double expresso and then dilute with hot water:). In summary: good place for lazy days on the beach, walks to the small town of Varadero, possibly a trip to one of Cuban Cities.
