Well maintained and run especially considering how slow it was. The animation team did a great job getting people involved in an off season environment Amazing beach 🏖️ and pool area Always enough poolside or beach chairs.

Viva Azteca by Wyndham: Nice Resort *3.5*

This is a 3.5 stars resort. Don't get me wrong, it was a nice place but missing the little extra to make it 4 stars. On the plus side: Hotel was super clean, staff friendly and helpfull. It is a quiet resort with limited activities. Always a place at pool or beach. We had access to Viva Wyndham Maya, which was very nice. On the down side, bad music at the pool provided by the staff, always the same music, no seafood at all. Food was a bit dissapointive for Mexico, we usually eat very well  [... read more]in Mexico, but not this time. We had seaweed the first three days of our stay. The other days it was beautiful. Workers work very hard to clean the beach everyday.

Viva V Samana by Wyndham: Everything we’d hoped

Firstly, we’re an easily pleased couple, within reason; and the price all in for this trip was so right it set the bar low — we were hopeful but not expecting greatness. Our aims were to disconnect, and to relax and be active in equal measures, and that’s exactly what we did. The place was pretty quiet, which we loved; and no kids of course….!!! Our room was so close / closest to the beach relative to others, with a partial ocean view from the balcony. Location was well worth the m [... read more]inor maintenance issues. -comfortable king-sized bed - coffee maker with coffee, and mini fridge with pop, beer and water (both not always stocked in spite of tipping, maybe would need to ask) -big bathroom and shower (water temp not great, limited opportunity in the evening for a hot shower with pressure; bathroom door didn’t latch; one light flickered until dead on the second day). -housekeeping very friendly and pleasant, just not consistent with small things (missing coffee cups, face towels, teaspoons and creamer for coffee etc) Food was delicious and highly varied at the main buffet on most days, we either really loved a given dish or didn’t like. -no need for restaurant reservations, but be sure to get in early on busier days (weds to sat) -Fusion restaurant was super delicious, went twice (the salmon..!!) -desserts were mostly a miss, but surprisingly great ice cream and delicious fresh fruit - ate and drank everything (except tap water) without hesitation, no significant issues - room service not recommended… - drinks from the ‘hip’ bar were worlds better than beach bar drinks, but pretty inconsistent at both. branded liquors available at both - some drinks like daiquiri, pina colada (so good), mamajuana not on the menu but could order Staff throughout the resort were very pleasant, everyone in general seemed relaxed and happy. -late-night check-in was easy and friendly, allowed guests to eat first and check-in after -bar and restaurant staff were mostly lovely and otherwise seemed neutral -virtually no salespeople except for one pushy attempt at timeshare selling -animation team were awesome Beach and pool were serene. - not a white-sand beach and didn’t expect that, but the water was clear and beautiful. some seaweed on some days but nothing unexpected there for us…it’s a beach. -good waves on most days for body-boarding or kayaking in and out - shoreline made for a beautiful and lengthy walk in either direction with some nice surprises along the way -no pool bar, again a plus for us. meant the pool was usually quiet in the day with guests lounging around or swimming. clean, spacious, relaxing. Gym was OK, great they have it and very useable but could do with updated or better maintained equipment. Activities were fun!! -again, animation team were above and beyond — daytime engagement was varied and fun, and nightly entertainment was exceptional almost every night. -Archery got competitive in a great way -Snorkelling a no-go, nothing to see, though there were excursions available. -We would not again take an excursion involving ‘bacardi’ or cayo island. No wifi except in the room as far as we cared to check. Limited access worked in our favour. Friendly and adorable stray cats and a couple of dogs visited frequently…and we could not have been happier for it. We’d go back for certain, especially if booking through TripCentral.

Viva Heavens by Wyndham: Alright

The food was pretty good though not all restaurants are open each night. Getting water or towels in the room is a nightmare. I tried getting a bandaid at night and they said come back in the morning… when I was bleeding then. Some of the staff are rude but some are great. Pool and beach are nice. Had ants in the room. It’s very loud at night

Viva V Samana by Wyndham: Very strong 3.5

The rooms were clean and bed comfortable. Food at the specialty restaurants were very good especially at the Fusion. I would recommend the cream of pistachio soup and grilled salmon. Unfortunately, the food especially at the Buffet gets cold quickly and the variety is limited. However, you will not starve. The fried chicken at the Mediterranean for lunch is comparable to KFC. Very good. The staff are hard working and pleasant. As well, the animation team is very active to keep you entertained.  [... read more]Beautiful beach that you can walk for miles. The AC in the Fusion and Seafood restaurants could be improved. It gets very warm. I would also recommend that a dedicated computer and printer be available to assist visitors in completing their Exit Visas 72 hours prior leaving the resort.

Viva Heavens by Wyndham: sad visit

This is the 6th time I've been to this resort , I've never paid more than $950. for a room on my own. this time $1,609. and shared . The resort changed, food quality dropped and the portion size is was smaller. They kept running out wine as they limited the amount they supplied each restaurant. They outsourced the entertainment not as good. As it's going to be a family resort in June I'll no longer be going to Viva Wyndham V Heaven again

Viva Azteca is a nice small resort. The staff was great rooms were decent, great beach and close to shops. The only down fall is the food. I have been on many all inclusive resorts and am not a picky eater. The food was horrible and I would say close to half the guests were sick due to the food. The only difference was hand sanitizer was available around all the food areas.

Viva V Samana by Wyndham: Nice Resort....But

The beach was definitely a 10. Beach towels were always available. Water sports activities were perfect. The grounds were beautiful and well kept throughout. The buffet was usually always good. Fusion was the best restaurant of the three. The other two restaurants could use improvements on the menu. The service staff were mostly friendly and courteous. In general, the bar service staff were not friendly and spoke Spanish amongst themselves. Their attitudes could definitely use improvement. Our ground level Vibe room had a musty odour and was very damp. The shower leaked onto the floor in front of the vanity. After being relocated to another room, it was somewhat better but the room was still damp. Our bed sheets never felt dry and our clothes, towels were always damp. The room's air conditioner, although it did operate, never seemed to be able to remove the humidity, and when we turned the fan from low to medium or high speed, it was a very loud and vibrated, so we had no choice but to leave it on the low setting. The sliding door did not lock (nor did the first room's door). The in-room espresso coffee maker did not work. After having told the hotel about it twice, they replaced it with another machine that also did not work. At that point, we just gave up on it. Room towels were hit and miss. Some days we would get one wash cloth (instead of two) and other days none. The shower floor towel was also hit and miss. The beds, including pillows and sheets, need major improvement. We never had a good night's sleep. Lastly, the Vibe Members Club is rediculous. Guests who purchased it told us it was a money grab and offered little benefit. It made us feel underpriviledged every time we went to the bar and saw the handful of bottles that we were not allowed to order, or the special seating section at the buffet. In closing, we would love to return to this resort, but not until we hear reviews that significant improvements have been made.

Viva Heavens by Wyndham: Met my expectations

I didn't expect much of this resort post COVID, as I knew the draw was the golf course literally across the street. The food was OK and the location is fine but the amenities need updating. Very loud air conditioner and a safe that didn't work did not help with my experience. The staff were OK, but none really stood out.

Viva Tangerine by Wyndham: Great time with the entertainment crew

The rooms were lacking some modern conveniences such as a mini-bar but we did not spend too much time in the room. The entertainment crew worked very hard at keeping everyone entertained and engaged. Daily activities included water polo, darts, dancing classes and far too many to list... they kept us busy. The Beach is well kept and watching the kite surfing was an amazing new experience for us. The food caters to an American crowd but was very good and always lots of variety and fresh fruits and veggies. The Chef was always overseeing the food and ensuring it met high standards, we surely appreciated this. There are many activities to enjoy both on and off the resort including horse back riding and a variety of water sports, The beach always has a nice breeze which keeps people cool but makes it difficult for some activities such as snorkeling. Overall we had an excellent vacation at this resort and can not stress enough to remember the entertainers and security guards with tips and gifts from home as they do not always get remembered for the hard work and safe environment they provide in paradise.

Viva Heavens by Wyndham: Intimate Resort

I picked this resort for our silver anniversary trip because of the price and number of good reviews. However, all of the negative reviews you read are unfortunately true. Their cab sav vino tinto was delicious and at 8.5% alc/vol, you can drink loads. The ala cartes were quite satisfactory. I would recommend the salmon at the Blend. We had to use the medical facilities at the mall and Dr. Guisman was very accommodating and thorough and totally helped us navigate travel insurance. We we're told that somebody would clean the bugs out of our light fixtures and that we would be moved to a different room 3 days into our trip, but it never happened and we just let it go. I think the best way to get service is to talk to your airline rep whether it is Sunwing or Air Canada or Transat to get results. Tip to those of you who drink lots of water , get it from the gym . Loved the one man band nightly entertainment. This was our first trip to the Puerto Plata area so really can't compare to other resorts there.

Viva V Samana by Wyndham: No shade!

There were 8 umbrella’s & 6 cove like structures around the pool area which housed about 125 lounge chairs so you can imagine it was a bit of a blood bath to get shade. Most of the staff were quite delightful especially those in the entertainment field running activities. One waitress actually rolled her eyes at me at the table when I asked for more wine which I found unacceptable! Rude! Sand fleas were a real issue here, many guests had to see the doctor. So many resorts I have visited in the past had umbrella’s mounted to the side of the pool so no matter what time of the day it was you weren’t melting.

Viva V Samana by Wyndham: Nice Resort

Small, clean, well landscaped resort with good food and beautiful beach. The activity crew provide activities to keep you busy daily. Rooms are clean and well appointed. Everything works but TV , if so inclined, has virtually no english channels with sound. Viva room with large deck and plunge pool was great. Water fairly cool but spoiled us for any future visits. Would not go any other way.

Viva Heavens by Wyndham: Good Value for Money

Overall, my partner and I both felt that the resort was good value for the cost. The grounds were well-kept, rooms were clean, and food was tasty! With that said, it is definitely not a 5* and there were several things that could be improved... Our main qualm was that the evenings are extremely loud due to the disco/partying. Viva Wyndham Dominicus Beach: Viva Whyndam Dominicus Holidays

We wore pick up at Punta Cana by a driver,brought us to the hotel.We changed our room 3 times,finally they give us a nice room,in mean times lost couple day by the times everything was over.Also they hotel gave us the fobes to open the door,and we had to change the fobes 3 times.Over all essential that bad.The rest was good,I will be back next year again.We wore there eleven times.Coming home the Sunwing rappresentant told me the pick up is at 7.20 a.m. the bus show up at 9.00 a.m. The plane was [... read more] late 3 hours.We should arrive at 4.00 p.m. we arrive in Toronto at 8.00 p.m.

Viva Heavens by Wyndham: Beautiful resort

First time for us going to Puerto Plata...we were really impressed with how clean the hotel and the grounds were...we enjoyed the walk on the path that took us to the ocean it looked like a little Amazon river...the food was great, room was nice and big, dining room was great...people were very friendly...overall everything was great .

Viva Dominicus Palace by Wyndham: Great place the "Palace"

We spent a week at this resort and I would recommend it to anybody, because you can have almost everything you need with a possibility to have access to the sister resort, the Beaches too. Services are good The food is great The rooms are clean The beach and the sea are amazing The only negative thing was the loud music near the beach, if you are middle aged or senior.

Viva Heavens by Wyndham: Excellent Adults only resort!

First time at a small resort and we loved it. The staff were outstanding, from the front desk, to servers, to entertainment staff to security. The food was excellent in all the restaurants, could have been hotter but still not worth a complaint. Viva Heavens by Wyndham: Nice intimate resort

This is a smaller resort which we had not experienced before. It was nice to really get to know the staff as well as the guests. If you struck up a conversation with someone you were sure to see them again several times. We really enjoyed that. The staff provided excellent customer service. An example of this is that I asked fr an espresso martini and asked the staff if it would be possible to have a martini glass. You have to understand that because the main bar is beside the pool they don't us [... read more]ually serve drinks in glass , much less a martini glass. The staff too the time to go find a martini glass and for the entire two weeks we were there when I requested an espresso martini they took the time to find the martini glass for me. Housekeeping did great job of cleaning our room and ensuring we had clean towels. The variety of a la carte restaurants was great and my only complaint is that the food at the restaurants was not very warm. The service was good but the Mexican restaurant is so busy it could use more staff. The entertainment staff are great and Lucco was especially great to listen to every evening on the pool deck. His knowledge of music is astounding, and he lead a great volley ball game every day at the beach. The vendors at the beach are simply trying to make a living and once we said no gracias they did not bother us. Check in was quick and seamless as was checkout. We enjoyed the resort and because its changing to a family resort we wont return. I love kids but not on my vacation LOL. We were quite happy with our choice of resorts.
