Amazingly beautiful

This resort was beautiful. All the staff were friendly and kind and very helpful. The ground were fantastic and easy to access. Food was phenomenonally delicious. Housekeeping was wonderful and the supplies were endless. Being my first experience flying and travelling to this beautiful resort is a experience of a lifetime plus Celebrating my birthday there was a fantastic and memorable time. My favorite

All staff were extremely friendly, rooms were cleaned early, fresh towels everyday, food was excellent. I loved the French restaurant especially and my husband is always a fan of the Japanese restaurant and the entertainment they provide. The beach is my favorite place and amongst the best I've been to. I loved that everything was close such as our room was close proximity to the pool, buffet, stores and beach.

Excellent resort!!

Had great time with girlfriends.,was an amazing beach,restaurants and food were also good.Great hotel for young adults during spring break!! Only complaint long waits for drinks at bar,bartenders were not really friendly.Would return to this hotel for sure!

Barcelo, Punta Cana - Loved this resort

The resort was very, very nice. Grounds were beautiful and well kept. The resort was small and easy to walk to everything. If you were at the beach(where we spent all of our time) you could easily go back to your room to your own bathroom. The rooms in building 6 do need some updating but they were very clean. We met a couple that were staying in building 2 and their room was updated and very nice. The staff were extremely friendly in all areas of the hotel. Great resort

Not sure why people wrote bad reviews about this resort.We just returned March 25th from Barcelo Punta Cana.The resort was awesome food good and the beach was one of the best.We have traveled to Cuba and Mexico and the Dr many times.I would return here next year.The staff was great also.Some of the rooms need upgraded yes but they are working on this.It takes time to do all these rooms.Our room was cleaned each day and fridge filled.

I would go back to this hotel.

The only issue we had on this trip was with the Air Transat rep Emmanuel. We also spoke to another couple who were not our resort and they had the same compliant about their rep. Very rude...I would have to question whether or not I would fly with Air Transat again for this reason. Maybe being a rep is the worst job in DR. Great resort but don't go in March!!

The hotel and beach was beautiful. DON'T GO IN MARCH. We just wanted a relaxing holiday, but got stuck with 1000 US college spring breakers. We needed a holiday from the holiday. We barely slept as the kept everyone up at night. Getting a drink was impossible, 1/2 hour line ups at the bars.

Very clean and organized resort

The hotel and staff were great! Everything went fantastic. Great holiday. Highly recommended, rooms were very clean! Food was really good! The pools were always clean, people were friendly. Overall great trip!

Its was ok food not good employees not freindly

Food not the best, long wait at beach bar (15 min), staff not very friendly, had to ask for beverage in buffet, was told could only book resteraunts daily and find out from other travellers they booked in advance. Wont go back or suggest to anyone

Amazing resort

Everything about this resort is incredible. Great staff, the beach was impeccable, the rooms are beautiful, the grounds are imaculate.. there is really nothing to complain about when staying at the Barcelo Punta Cana!

Very nice resort!

Very large resort with 2 huge pools, beautiful beach that you can walk for miles on, excellent service by all staff, rooms are well kept with everything working and clean and most overlook the pool and ocean so view is great. Mixed drinks at the bar are horrible from a machine, they need to improve that, but the beer is good and cold so that works! I would definitely return to this resort!

Great time to be had!

The grounds are beautiful, and there are a variety of restaurants to have a la carte meals at for lunch and dinner. You will find something - food wise - that is to your liking. Rooms are comfortable, amenities were good. Only issue was the line ups at the bars - unfortunately US college reading week will cause line ups -and no designated area for free WiFi- this was disappointing, as all the resorts offer free WiFi for at least a limited time and at a designated area. Great property and layout

We walked the beach and did not find a property in the immediate area that Had as many waterfront rooms and ocean view rooms as this property. It was also very open and well laid out with a quiet pool and a more active pool with the swim up bar. You could not go hungry here however upon our return I was sick for 3 days. Can't blame the food for sure but ???? The resort could use some updating and does show its age to a degree. However,as previously mentioned all of the newer resorts in the area  [... read more]seem to string back away from the beach and you need to either walk a distance from your room or take a trolley to the beach or pool for that matter. Very few of them had oceanview rooms or oceanfront. Not at Barcelo Punta Cana. We had an oceanfront room that was awesome from a View prospective and a general feel of being on the ocean. We left the door open every night so that we could hear the surf hitting the shore. We could see the reef and boats in the ocean for miles. That's what we paid for. We can't say much about the nightly entertainment as we only went to one show. However that show was kind of lame and we left after about 20 minutes. They were showing an audience how to do salsa dancing and giving instruction. We satellite at the pool during the day. Japanese ala carte restaurant was the best and the sea food was probably the second best. I think we would go back here again but take Dukoral two weeks prior.

Good value for money

The facilities are quite nice, beautiful beach that never ends and staff friendly. Food is good, keeping in mind you are in the Caribbean. The only sacrifice from a five star resort is drink service, you have to go get it yourself, so as long as that's not a deal breaker you'll have a great time!

Perfect Family trip!

Amazing trip. Resort was exceptionally clean, staff were very polite and prompt and the food was delicious with vast selection. I would recommend this hotel to anyone! Lots of chairs around the pool and lots of different activities to do on the hour every hour. Couldn't ask for more.

Great trip to Barcelo Punta Cana

The hotel/resort is huge but still has that cosy feeling in that the swimming pool areas are divided up into quite/kids area and an open area with a pool side buffet and bar. There are ample lounge chairs at the beach and pool areas. The room we had was very nice the couple of snags were fixed with in hours or our request. The maid service was very good and our room was kept in good order. night time entertainment in the theater was equal to anything from Las Vegas. No problem signing in or out  [... read more]and our Sunquest rep was quite helpful. The wait and Bar staff were well nice and made an effort to keep our inquires satisfied. The food was good at the main buffet with a large variety and the restaurants at night were excellent.. The only thing folks from here should note that if you use Hotmail for your internet it will not work in Dominican Republic. The WIFI is rather expensive there at a cost of 10$ a day or 49$ a week. You can buy it by the 1/2 hour for 5$. If you want to leave the compound to go to closest town cabs will cost about 15 to 25$. It is VERY pricey on the compound for suntan lotion or after-sun stuff. A bag of chips 300 grams is $7. Stuff in the local area are 30-40% cheaper in the towns. All prices are in US dollars. Dollars can be used anywhere even Canadian dollars. The clerks will change the price listed in Pesos over to US or Canadian dollars. Most off compound places are close to bank rates. The reception desk also will change currency. They have a rate chart up for several types of money. Have a bunch of one dollar bills (US $) for tipping. Leave a dollar a day for maids and then 5 or 10 $ on last day. Tip waitress or bartenders a buck or so every 5 times they serve you. Also the helpers in the dining rooms. Our Rep told us all tips go into a pot and all the workers share. There are many activities you can do so if you want you can keep busy. Overall we enjoyed our trip to Barcelo Punta Canada

The resort was good .

All and all the hotel was good. The food was just ok at the buffet though because we've been to two other Barceló hotels in the last two years in Mexico and the food was better and we expected the same however the booked restaurants were excellent. The grounds and washrooms were always kept clean and the beach was amazing . The only issue we had was that the walls of the rooms were paper thin and we could hear everything going next door .The rooms were ok . Not very big but clean. .

Fantastic resort, our best holiday vacation yet!!!

They changed our room to ocean view and pool view, it was there idea to change rooms, very impressed, the ocean was great and the pool area super clean, hard working employees, super friendly, best service ever!!! We'd go back in a minute!!

Beautiful Beach

The staff were friendly and kind. Most however did not speak/understand basic English, but they tried and were always smiling. The activities staff (Alex, Alexander, Gabriel and Warlin) were fabulous and always went the extra mile to make you feel included and remembered. The energy they portrayed was wild. They were always ready to pump up the crowd and have a great time. Evening entertainment was enjoyable at the theater and we had a great time participating in the Ideal Couple show. We booked [... read more] for the honeymoon package and were very pleased with our ocean view upgrade and extra amenities they provided us. We were disappointed that our romantic dinner on the beach became a romantic dinner beside the bar (no privacy, very loud with drunk guests all around us) as the light was out on the beach and it was very windy. It would've been nice to be a little more secluded for this type of dinner (maybe off on the chess court, since it was private and not in use at night). The beach was spectacular and very clean. Beaches at the other hotels were covered in seaweed and not cleaned. Barceló, definitely had the longest, nicest and most spacious beach, with lots of palm trees to nap under and it never felt over populated. The food was ok. Some days were better than others. My milk soured in my coffee one morning and you need to be careful of the foods that are left out in the heat at the buffets (pasta salad with mayo). Variety of foods was good. The A La Cart restaurants that we were able to experience (Japanese, Dominican, Seafood) were excellent. New Years dinner was a little chaotic at the Dominican a la cart, as they were never sure what they had or hadn't served you yet. We did spend a lot of time dodging the Coco Bongo representatives while there. They really wanted you to purchase their package and didn't like taking no for an answer. They were a little pushy when you just wanted to relax and be left alone. The pools were great! Loved the sun loungers in the quiet pool (except for the kids playing all over them, when their pool was right beside it) and the pool bar was fantastic. The bartenders were always friendly. Our room cleaner did forget to restock our fridge twice and towels (we had none for 2 days) and had to use our beach towels in the room. The resort lost power for a few hours and water. However, they had it up and running within a couple of hours and they did a great job at keeping all the guests happy. We were pleased with how they dealt with this situation (especially since it was New Year's eve). Overall, this hotel was pretty great for the price. There were some things that could change to make it even better, but we were pleased with how helpful, friendly and kind everyone was.

Perfect Resort

I plan to return for my next vacation, beautiful, can't say enough about how perfect the Excellence is. The pool is amazing, lots of restaurants and bars. Beautiful beach although the ocean is very choppy. This was not an issue as we spent most of our time at the pool.
