A wonderful place

in a nut shell i did not really have any complaints about the resort altho it wass my first time going to a resort i felt as tho it wass an amazing experience as the staff were awesomely friendly and willing to help you when they could but also had there own personality to show they are real people not robots the bartenders were able to keep up with the demand when over whelmed with orders and the maids circled the buildings every day to restock your room then the activitys were amazing and staf [... read more]f were willing to join in on some of the games so that we were able to participate in them. now that i got that out of the way there is one thing that comes to mind if you do not have there app or check there activity bored you will miss out on a lot of the games and even then you have to have some form of watch or record of time as the pool and other activitys will help you lose track of time easily

3rd visit and still as good

The grounds are wonderfully kept, the gardeners are to be highly praised they have their work cut out for them when some guests just don`t care where they throw there rubbish. Reception are very helpful. Food once again was very good, something for even the pickiest of people. Rooms though dated are spotlessly clean. Amazing time

the hotel was great . it was very clean and it was amazing that our room was cleaned everyday . very tropical feeling . the view from our ocean view room was fantastic . food was really good as well . the staff was very friendly all around

Great Resort

This resort is small but has everything you need. Food is great, pool is nice, and the rooms are comfortable, although they could be cleaner. Please note that during the slow season (spring-summer months), they accept locals on the weekends, which makes it very busy and loud. We found it particularly inconvenient because we were there with kids, and the pool was less accessible to us during those days. Otherwise, good resort.

Wonderful Getaway!

Just returned from a week at the Iberostar (for the 5th time!) and it was excellent as always. Cannot say enough about the amazing staff here. We are also spoiled as members to have a cart to whisk us from one end of the resort to the other, our favorite drivers Samuel and Johan deliver us safely and quickly to any point on the resort that we wish to go. In the lobby Yunior, our muscle man is always ready to take those heavy packages (filled with organic chocolate from the Del Oro chocolate factory just up the road from here) to help us to our room. Our hats are tipped to alllllll of the amazing kitchen/cooking/serving staff. The food is endless, the variety is overwhelming and the flavors have never left us disappointed. These people work hard and serve up some of the yummiest cuisine that keeps us coming back for more. To round out the day and make every moment memorable the entertainment staff is never far away with a high five, crazy game or bang on dance moves. You will see Justin Bieber, WiFi, Blondie, Maria and countless others from the beach to the pool and everywhere in-between waiting to provide you with fun and laughter in the sun. Last but not least, easily overlooked are the grounds keepers and the cleaning staff. These people put in their fair share of hours each day keeping things looking fabulous and always greet you with a smile and a kind word. If you have not been here it may be time!

Think twice if you are looking for a 4 star or better

Based decision on reviews. Resort is run down and service is hit or miss. Food was not great, cooks very accomodating, working with what they have.Some genuinely great staff, many walk around looking miserable. As a woman I found many of the male staff to be unfamiliar with respectful interaction with women, other female guests noticed this also. Weather was great. Punta cana is much better.

Paradise

My husband and I stayed at the Iberostar Costa Dorada between April 27 to May 04 2018. Everything about this resort exceed our expectations. The grounds were very clean and well maintained. The food was delicious (lunch was my favourite meal time) Most of the staff was very friendly. They always said “hola” when we walked by. We only spent an hour at the beach. Overall we had an amazing vacation and will most likely be going back to the Iberostar and booking through Trip Central again.

Family friendly

This resort was absolutely Stunning . Everything was clean tidy and maintained . grounds were very well kept as well as pool area .food was great all the way around . And staff went above and beyond .

Amazing Resort

The hotel was excellent, clean, the staff were friendly and very helpful, anything you needed or wanted to know, they were there. The rooms were very clean. The entertainment was excellent, beach was very nice, food was so good. I would highly recommend this resort

Wonderful Vacation!

This was our 3rd time to this resort. We love it! It felt like our home away from home. So many of the staff we have met before rememered us. They all made us feel special. The food is very good and plentiful. No tummy troubles! The resort is older and in need of some updates. But our rooms were adequate and clean. Our maid Felicia did a wonderful job! Not live up to expectations

The check-in was not good, we didn't get an explanation of the services, restaurants, bars locations or meal times. The room was a bit of a let down with many items in need of repair. On the bright side the food was good and the staff were polite and efficient, always attending to your needs. The gardens were kept in good order and with the ponds and fountains made the grounds picturest. The beach was well kept and the lunchtime BBQs were good. First time and will not be our last!

This was our first time at an Iberostar resort and we were very pleased with the food, the grounds and the service. We will ne going back to this resort in the future! The rooms were fine, the cleaners did a good job of tidying up each day (we don't go down south to spend time in our rooms anyways) The buffet and a-la-cartes were amazing! We would even consider bringing our kids back in the future, because of the kids club that the resort offers!

Great Resort

We have stayed at many resorts all over the Caribbean and Mexico and I have to say this is surely one of the nicest and best places we've stayed. It's great for families. The food was very good with lots of varieties for everyone. The grounds were fantastic and kept clean as well as the pools. One thing about the pools is that they are deep for kids that can't swim. Iberostar is the Best!!!

This resort is a bang for your buck. Manuel,my friend at the resort lobby is amazing! The food is by far the best. And ala carts are quite the experience. I thank you Gina from trip central, I will see you soon when I go to Cuba xo

Great vacation destination!!!

This resort was fantastic, I was thoroughly satisfied on all aspects of this resort. the staff were so pleasant, polite, always happy, and work so hard to ensure you have a wonderful time at this resort. Absolutely amazing resort/vacation spot!

The Iberostar Costa Dorada in Puerto Plata, Dominican Republic is a beautiful, very well-kept resort with a variety of restaurants, and buffet choices. Very friendly staff who go above and beyond to make your stay an even greater one. Rooms are clean and well-kept - always hot water and excellent water pressure in the showers. We were a group of 23 people and we all had a fabulous time. Absolutely nothing to complain about. Excellent resort

Small to mid size resort, beautiful grounds, 3 a-la cart restaurants ( Mediterranean, Japanese, Mexican ) , 30 min from airport Beach was ok , pool was big. Service was great. Orchid garden, Ample of loungers

Relaxing vacation in Puerto Plata

Pluses: 30 minute ride from the airport Quick check in (We were assigned a standard room farthest from beach but closest to the lobby) Clean Comfortable Bed and decent pillows Grounds Well Kept Beach lunchtime BBQ (we enjoyed the meat one better than the seafood one – we are from the east coast of Canada) Wi-Fi all over the resort – even on the beach sometimes Recycling initiative (no disposable cups or straws). Wine white was actually good Safe in room worked well Lots of hot water and good water pressure in the bathroom Food ‘overall’ was good Appetizers were better than the main courses in the Mediterranean & Mexican restaurants (Taco soup was good). Bottle of sparkling wine in our room for our anniversary was a nice touch. Facial tissue and toiletries were provided Clothesline to hang wet bathing suits was provided on the deck. Lots of lounge chairs available. Clock on the phone in the room with cellphone chargers attached. Dominican theme night in buffet included grilled lobster and other seafood (Thursday) Minus’s: Bathroom was a bit small and some rust was appearing around the bathtub Big Step to get into the bathtub Poor reception Cable TV and limited English channels Pushy concierge (Manuel trying to get us to attend a meeting – I call it a timeshare sell) $500 Star Rewards (We tried to use a room upgrade coupon for $140 and they asked for an additional $40 on top of it.) The difference in ocean view standard room versus other standard rooms is much less than $180 on line. We didn’t redeem any of these coupons as they all required an extra spend. No bar service on the beach – Beach bar was a bit of a walk away. We do like to walk so not a big issue. Luggage should be locked up instead of just sitting at the lobby entrance for those leaving the resort later in the day. Beach was raked only a couple of times a day and it was mostly seaweed they raked up and not necessary the garbage. There was a ‘smokers ally’ on the way to the buffet. Tableware was hit and miss – you often had to search out some for yourself. Small spoons to stir tea were rarely available. We always walked first thing in the morning and then when we went for breakfast most of the tables had been used and only partly set up again. Pool was quite deep for a family resort and for me who doesn’t swim. Lack of face clothes in our room for the first few days. Had to pay $10 per hour for late checkout. I assume if I’m late leaving that someone else is likely late arriving. Suggestions: Have someone at the beach to help find and place beach chairs. Need more communication on when stuff is happening. Perhaps a brochure in your entrance package. Courtyard is under-utilized. Need more entertainment in lobby bar before and after the theatre entertainment. Not everyone wants to go the Disco after the theatre. One night there was a lady singing and a piano player- this was very nice touch.
