Awesome Trip

We stayed 14 days at Club Amigo Aguas Azules from March 31st - April 14! We had a wonderful time. We stayed in a bungalow that was clean and spacious. The grounds were beautiful, the beach was amazing and the food was very good. The staff was absolutely awesome, Rocky, Ismaray, Yunier, the bar staff the grounds keepers, the front desk crew, every staff person we encountered were friendly and happy all the time! We had a wonderful time at Aguas Azules!!!

Great resort - poor management

Not my first Cuba trip but maybe my last. The experience was so off-putting that I must stay away for a while. The resort itself is quite nice though it is dilaptated to an extent. I didn't really mind that things were worn or old or somewhat broken. What got me was that the staff seem unphased by the years of dirt that clings to everything - walls, floors, tables, chairs, banisters - (you get my drift). The majority of the staff came off as the laziest, dirtiest staff I've encountered at any re [... read more]sort in the caribeans. There is no reason for the resort to be that dirty. NO EXCUSE. It does not take a lot of money to clean - just a good work ethic. I'm beside myself with frustration at what could be a really great resort if only the staff cared more for it. FOR EXAMPLE: we asked the waiter if he could clean our table, so he grabbed a dirty napkin from a dirty table to wipe down ours!! GROSS. At the beach we watched a security guard pick up garbage and cigarette butts only to throw them in the bushes while the garbage was only a foot away?? A glass table was broken on my first night there and a fellow patron swept the glass into a small pile to help the cleaning staff. 6 nights later, the pile of glass was still at the same spot. NOT ACCEPTABLE. I'm a northerner, so fancy is not important, and I can sleep in a tent in the middle of the bush and portage my canoe to a lake so I can fish to eat, but to be immersed in human dirt was tough.

Great experience!

The hotel and the surrounding grounds (caves and ecological reserve) and beach were comfortable, clean, and accommodating. The beach area was a perfect area to relax, tan, and swim. The hotel staff were courteous and helpful. The proximity to the city of Varadero, other resorts, the caves and ecological reserve was close and conveniently accessible.

Good

Everything was good. Nice landscaping. Good nightly programs. Excellent beach. Food was excellent. Beach was nice and long so it was great to have long walks on the beach. The rooms were just ok. The bed was excellent because it was king size.

Awesome beach!!

The beach was definitely the best part of this vacation. Just beautiful!! Enjoyed the activities at the beach (kayaking, catamaran trip with snorkelling, paddle boats) . The pools at the resort were also very nice. We liked our bungalow room, which was large enough for 4 people. Great service from all staff at the hotel.

Good Value - Beautiful Beach

This resort was a good value for what we paid. The food was good and as expected for Cuba. Bungalow was very spacious and located close to the beach. Palapas were plentiful and we had no issues at all with the AC. Water temperature was not the greatest, seemed to take a long time for it to heat up to luke warm. Other than that we enjoyed our stay.

Some very good and not so good

the trees and flowering plants are of great variety and very mature very scenic the beach is very nice although i couldnt walk far in bare feet wihout getting those small burdocks stuck in my foot the staff is friendly and the beer is cold the food is poor even for cuban standards the only chicken at the buffet all week was the bony part of the back no breasts or thighs

Beautiful Beach!!!

Overall we had a good vacation, but i will never return to this resort and i cannot recommend it to my friends. The hotel rooms reminded me of a communist hospital and it was totally worth it to pay extra and upgrade to the bungalow. The food was ok, in a sense that i was able to find fresh fruits at all times. The buffet smelled pretty bad, the tablecloths were dirty, not inviting at all (i was never excited about meal times). My expectations regarding the beach were exceeded but everything else was underwhelming.

Not too bad

I liked the resort, our room was great. Had lots of hot water and the maid was awesome..everything about the resort was great except for the buffet..didn't like eating same food everytnite. The staff were really great, made our stay very fun.

Nice resort but hotel in bad need of repairs

the hotel is very out dated but for the price we paid it was ok the food was good no better or worse than we have had in our last 8 trips to cuba.the service from all the staff was exalant the room was cleaned very good every day all in all we had a very good vacation.one bad thing was on our trip home my wifes suitecase was opened and her 300 dollar sunglasses were stolen

Disappointing resort

Check-in was long with no order of clients waiting at counter. The grounds for the hotel were very large and unsafe to walk by yourself in the evening, although there was security a the beach during the night. The food was very dissatisfying. No pasta bar, although their was pasta on the buffet, but the sauce was similar to tomato juice. Only one breakfast station with very long lineups. French toast appeared to be deep fried and syrup was red coloured water. Pork was edible, although the chicke [... read more]n was not fully cooked. Salads were not available, although lettuce was used to decorate some serving plates. Coffee came out of a machine, but I brought my own. There was a freshly squeezed orange juice machine. Room was satisfactory with a balcony and view of ocean in the distance, but towels were scares and although washed, appeared dirty. The bed only had a sheet and very thin cover. No blankets. We had to run after those, as we had to for towels and toilet paper. No coffee machine in room and no bureau in main living area. TV was very old and remote did not work. Hair drying was very ancient with little power. Toilet paper was a high commodity and some bathrooms on the resort did not have toilet seats. Elevator only in main Lobby area and if you were on the 3rd floor you had to take the stairs. No activity during the day, as advertised, only music at one pool and some in the main Lobby, which was pleasant. The hotel would not take a credit card or bank card and only dealt in cash currency. This was a big problem as one had to take a bus to town to a bank and wait 30 minutes in line.

Terrible - requested a change immediately

Hotel was empty, workers everywhere and under construction front desk couldn't be bothered to help us and the buffet was dirty and very little choice we didn't expect much from a 3star but this was terrible

Poor resort

Bungalow was good. But we did not have hot water the all week that we were there. We did a complaint but Nothing was done. When we arrive au the resort at 12:00pm the bungalow was not ready we havé the room at 5:00pm..for the food same food all week and cold. not enough désert for everyone. So for me Cuba is finish.

The hotel and grounds for age are very good,

Very good location. Hotel very clean and very well looked after. Grounds are spectacular and very, very well looked after. Entertainment little too laud. Food ok. Front desk people very efficient and helpful. Restaurants staff ? The food ? A la carts restaurants service great, but food bad.

Not a 3 star, should be downgraded to a 2 star

First, would like to say that I'm not a fussy eater or traveller and that I've been to Club Amigo Aguas Azules 5 years ago. I've been to other 3 star and 4.5 resorts in Cuba, Varadero and Holguin. Now this particular resort (Jan 17-Jan 31 stay) should be downgraded to a 2 star until improvements are made i.e. food is really poor & cleanliness i.e. flies, numerous cats (they should cull the heard) & chickens all over the place. Stayed in Bu [... read more]ngalow A2507 not hot water for 5 days, finally got moved to B2507, but then no hot water for 2 last days of my 14 day vacation. Bungalows are nice, but should bring ear plugs until animation & disco close. Staff are trying but management needs to check up on complaints quickly & fix them ASAP or accommodate guests in the meantime. Happy they are painting but paint is the least of my worries, good return on my vacation investment for 2 adults at the price I paid is what I expect. If these things bother you then I recommend you go to a four star. Final note all staff & animation were great & doing their very best. Hola to Diane front desk & thanks for moving us, Elizabeth maid for both rooms, even brought us extra pillows without being asked (now that is making amends for the lack of hot water which is not her fault, Diami buffet server, & Adel animation. I'm forgetting many other amazing peoples' names like all the garderners, pool cleaners, maintenance, bartenders, note that not one staff member was unpleasant and for that they get a 4 star rating.

Great resort

No hot water for showers. Delicious warm bread at the dinner buffet. Beautiful beach. Friendly staff Close to airport Good value for money. Excellent entertainment. Far to walk to dining room depending what room you are in.

Awsome resort!

What can I say about the joy that this resort gave me? ,, The food , the ocean and the people made for an amazing well deserved week off, Clean rooms, excellent service, The staff were very warm and welcoming,, would highly recommend to the first trip traveller,, don't forget your bubba!

Food was good

Bungalow room was nice, food was good (for Cuba), wait staff, maids were great. Towels in room were small however beach towels were great. Grounds could've been cleaned better/quicker. Always plastic glasses laying around, some broken glass. No seats on the beach toilets and always carry your own Kleenex no matter where you go - off or on property. Cuba on a budget , not the Hilton !

Third time there stayed in bungalows. Same food , no hot water , beach is still the best feature. This hotel would be great if they would update and do some routine maintenance . Next time will pay a little more for newer hotel as this one was built in 1977.One toaster in the whole resort @ the buffet doesn't work . Tried to rent mopeds 5 days in row but never open so had to take dd bus or cabs.

A great Holiday

The 2 Week Trip was fantastic. The Bungalow we stayed in exceeded our expectations. The service was great. A suggestion would be a little more information on the amenities ie A La Cartes, Towel exchange etc. The staff was friendly at this resort. The food service could improve some we had to wait sometimes for cutlery and other essentials. Suggested maybe different meal times or 2 servers working during lunch and dinner, The location was perfect. The beaches were outstanding and close to the hot [... read more]el.
