Amazing

We found this hotel to be our new favourite in Cuba. Incredible beach, with plenty of palapas to get shade. Did not need to be up at the crack of dawn to reserve as there were enough for everyone. Small pool, but who goes to a beach resort to sit by a pool? Food was some of the best we have eaten in Cuba. We found all the staff to be top notch.

Amazing resort.

Best resort I have been to in Cayo Coco cuba. Will definitely return. Been going to Cuba for 17 years and I can honestly say this is a five star resort. The food the service the staff best In Cayo Coco cuba. It was the perfect vacation from beginning to end thank you Melia Cayo Coco. Even though this is an older resort and the rooms are a bit dated, they are comfortable and very clean. Good for cuba!

Service, staff attitude, food, and cleanliness of the rooms and facilities are excellent. Would go again. And here is the rest of my required 200 characters....why does this review forum make me do this? Shame on tripbcentral.

Best resort in Cayo Coco

Very close to the airport, food is great, lots of variety. Beautiful beach, good service . Rooms are clean, little older but well maintained. Night activities are great and the pool is well maintained also.The staffs were all accommodating and and most of them speak English very well so communication is not a problem.

Amazing resort!

Resort was fantastic all-around. Excellent service. Excellent food. Very well maintained grounds. Beautiful beach. The rooms we had were spacious and clean, although we did hear from other travellers that their experience was not the same. However, when they raised their concerns to staff, they were moved promptly.

Beautiful and relaxing atmosphere

Stayed at resort May 4-11. Perfect weather all week. Beach is amazingly beautiful. Food at the buffet was excellent. Fresh meats and fish are cooked at your request with a good variety every night. All waiters and cooks were friendly. Overall, service across the resort was excellent. Rooms are dated but very clean. Only small drawback was the inconsistency of mixed drinks at the bars. Some bartenders were excellent, others looked like they rather be home. It pays to tip, be friendly and c [... read more]hat up bartenders to get the drinks made to your liking. Resort is small and compact so you can walk easily to all areas. Would definitely return to the Melia.

Great visit

We just returned yesterday from Melia Cayo Coco (1st visit) Upon arriving the frontdesk staff were great, Check-in was super quick. We upgraded to the Lagoon Room when we booked the trip- We wouldn't do that again. The lagoon or sewage smell was horrible. Everyday leaving from our room to go anywhere we had to walk down the walkway where it smelt like a backlog of bathroom sewage. The room itself was nice, The only reason we would not book that room again was for the smell. Lunch Buffet- We didn't care for the lunch buffet at near the pool- We would usually order lunch at the restaurant on the ocean. Dinner Buffet- We really enjoyed the dinner buffet by the pool. Great food and great selection. The Pool- We used the pool once. We were really disappointed to see signs everywhere saying people aren't allowed to hold chairs but 80% of the chairs being held by towels, So because we were following the rules and not coming out at 8am to put towels down we were out of luck and didn't get a chair. The staff were great, Very accommodating. The drinks were really good! We ate at the International and Cuban restaurants and they were both great. Only thing i forgot to do was use bug spray before going to the Cuban restaurant as its right on the ocean and the mosquitoes are pretty bad (but that was totally our fault). I did find a lot of favoritism at this hotel. The returning guests always had there drinks refilled in a timely matter and there were quite a few times we felt like we had to flag people down or just go up and order ourselves. This is a very quiet resort so if that's what your in search for then this is the place to go! We were in room 2222 on the lagoon so super close to everything

Perfect for us!

The things we loved about this resort include the people, beach, size, food, just about everything. If you are looking for a quiet, fun, welcoming where you are treated like family, this is it. This was our sixth trip to Cuba and ranks as our best vacation yet. Bonus....only 15 minutes from the airport!

3rd visit to Melia Cayo Coco

A big thank you to Jennifer Brown at Trip Central for booking our vacation. She is very professional, answered all our questions and made it easy for us to relax knowing everything was taken care of. Lovely, quiet resort with staff who go above and beyond to give an exceptional experience. The beach is phenomenal. Very short bus ride from the airport. Melia Cayo Coco

It was good to get back to the resort although our flight was 3 hours late. Arrival time about 1:00 at night.It was very quiet with only a couple of people milling around. Being a return guest we did a room request which we did not receive. It was very clean but the bathroom needs an update. Daily maid service was great. She always did a great job. Can not remember her name but she was very, very nice. Did not get our rum for being return and not given an invitation for returning guest get toge [... read more]ther. After 4 days I did mention it to the front desk and it was rectified. A little to late. The hotel was as good as we remembered. Grounds were kept great and the greenery is coming back to life. Staff does remember you and hugs and double kiss was given. Food as always was amazing. 9 out of 10. If you want a place to relax Melia is the place to go to. The ocean was calm, blue and warm.Like a bath. Pool was great. Still needs work. A new manager Barnard- always around and keeping a close eye on things. Got rid of the dogs and trying to get rid of the cats. One poor little thing (tame as anything) up in the pool area keeps getting attacked by the cats from the beach. That is a sad thing to see. Entertainment is fantastic. It is a new dance troupe and you can tell they enjoy there work. All in all good holiday 8out of10.

Truly a dream vacation!

Our two weeks at Melia Cayo Coco were just as we hoped starting with the great service and advice from Trip Central and Debbie Maguire. The Melia resort is a great example of how a place should be run. The grounds are so well taken care of by all the gardeners and maintenance personnel. Room service and housekeeping is at the top of its class. People were constantly cleaning, sweeping, and wiping down everything all over the resort. The buffet and a la cartes were of the best quality food-w [... read more]ise with a vast array of all kinds of dishes. The desserts and ice cream challenge a good restaurant here in Canada. The cooks and wait staff are so friendly and they really care about your stay and try to get to know you. We met some wonderful new Cuban friends among the employees. The pool is shallow but deep enough to enjoy a good swim. Bernard, the general manager, was visible morning, afternoon, and evening. He was very friendly and approachable. My wife had a couple of medical issues and the doctor on site treated her with expert care. All in all, we were very pleased with our two weeks there and we are definitely going back next year

Loved Melia Cayo Coco

Very much enjoyed our stay. Transfer from the airport was not too long - probably about 30 minutes. Check in was quick and smooth and, despite our early arrival at 12pm, our room was ready for us. The hotel was a full capacity but we rarely had to wait for anything. Food was very good (much better than expected) both at buffets and a la carte restaurants. Hotel was very clean including public areas and washrooms. Nice little touches such as fresh flowers in public areas. Both day time and  [... read more]evening entertainment were outstanding - particularly enjoyed the "White Party" and the aquatic show. Lots of live music throughout the day and evening too. The beach is gorgeous with plenty of chairs/palapas available. Staff are very friendly and accommodating. Hotel manager (Bernard) is often seen and very approachable. One of the things I liked best was the fact that the music in the public areas was pleasant and not too loud and no "overlapping" music. Grounds and landscaping were very lovely. Maid service was excellent with plenty of fresh towels daily and sheets changed upon request. We did the catamaran excursion which was a bit crowded but very enjoyable. Dive shop available at the Pullman hotel next door. Will definitely recommend and return.

Close to Jardines del Rey Airport in Cayo Cocoa

Melia Cayo Cocoa resort: nice short ride to the resort from the airport. resort is not too big and not too small. pool is nice but there is only one. rooms are nicely done and clean. maid service was excellent and friendly. reception staff always quick and friendly. I once went to the counter to have a 10 Cuban peso converted to singles and the guy already had 10 coins in his hand for me. Was disappointed on lack of fish in the beach waters as we have been to other resorts and were amazed [... read more] by the bounty of fish during snorkeling. excursions off the resort went fine. Food was typical Cuban which is good but not exceptional. No disco on the resort which is exactly what we wanted. Nice shows put on in the main reception Hall area. You don't need a bracelet for this resort which is interesting as it has neighbouring resorts on each side. No kids as the resort is adult only although you will see them on the beach from other resorts. Don't bother with the stilt houses on the lake. not much of a view and the rooms are the same and the water can smell bad sometimes although we didn't notice it. They have a 24 hour poolside bar kitchen which is great for those times between buffet openings. Beach is only 50 yards from the pool All in all we would recommend Melia Cayo Cocoa. Bring lots of sunscreen

Paradise beach and Older Clean Resort

Overall the experience was a seamless experience from the bus ride to the hotel from the airport to the last day. Food a plenty (maybe too much!!!) fresh, variety and good quality (perhaps a bit more flavor). Sun drenched days by the pool (don't forget to use the clean sauna and masseuse Jose!) followed by evening sunsets by the beach. The value of the beach/water and the food was enough for me. The activity programming included tennis, archery, dancing, spanish lessons, volleyball and yoga. If you are looking for a recharge especially in the winter months of canadian tundra. This is it. Moron is a mini-havana and worth a trip to visit. Yummy restaurants too.

We had a great experience at the Melia cayo coco food was excellent staff us fantastic loved everything about it. the recovery from the hurricane has been impressive with how well everything runs and looks

Fantastic resort

The Melia Cayo Coco is relatively small, with all amenities close to all of the rooms. The beach and water are excellent. The food at the buffet is very good, with a lot of variety. The rooms are spacious, with quiet air conditioning.

Awesome Resort

This resort was very clean. The staff could not be more friendly. The food was better then most resorts we have been to in Cuba. Spots just around the point for snorkeling. Lots of different fish to look at. This is our second time at this resort and this time we invited more friends to come with us. They told us that this was the best place they have been to in Cuba. We will be heading back at some point.

Great Place

The resort was really good. We found the staff very friendly and helpful. Food was good. The only thing about the food was there needed to be more of a verity between day to day. Different days. different array of food. Yes they had a theme food section each day but it was very small and found not enough to choose from, everything else was the same as the day before and even the same as lunch. But, what we had was good, After eating at the specialty restaurant which were good, you need to eat at [... read more] the buffet and verity would have been good. Rooms were clean but you can tell they are old and needed to be updated. Ceramic floor and bathroom tiles were chipped. Bathroom tub and tiles needed to be re-grouted, grout was chipped and dirty looking. Some walls needed to be repaired and painted was a must, but like I said it was clean. strangely enough the beds were so hard but we had the best sleep, go figure. When we booked we asked our trip central agent, Manuela to put us on the second floor but Melia did not do that, they would do it they said, but we would have to wait longer for the room and it would be much further away, so we felt that they really didn't want to do that and stayed where we were placed. The grounds, pool and beach were wonderful. The only thing there we had to laugh at the signs posted about not reserving loungers as everyone did. They would throw their towels down and left for the day. Around the pool more umbrellas was needed, but area around beach and pool were very clean and nicely keep. Again I can't say enough about the staff, everyone you passed had a hello and a smile they were so NICE! Yes we would go back there and did enjoy ourselves very much!

Great Resort!

I was impressed with the resort. The buffet was good and the a la carte restaurants were very good and had a nice variety. The grounds were well kept ...the pool and beach were fantastic. The resort staff were all incredible, lovely people. The entertainment was amazing. By far the best I have seen at an all inclusive. The rooms were really the only thing I would say needed improvement as they were quite outdated.

Grounds and buildings were well maintained. Room was spacious and clean. Staff very hospitable and pleasant. Food was good and a wide assortment. Only down side was the winter winds. Would return for sure.
