Enjoyable resort.

This was our 2nd time to this resort--though the 1st time was about 10 years ago. It is a smaller resort with well kept grounds, beach and pool area--a pretty place. We always found a spot either at the pool or the beach. You can walk around the resort and not have to take a shuttle! The rooms are a little older but clean & well kept. Their salads don't appeal to me but there was always steamed vegetables available and that was good enough. We really like their lobby bar--it has everything you want. You can get fancier drinks, and higher end liquers or brandies and it is all included. Nice spot to go either before or after dinner. The other thing that appealed to us is this hotel is not really far from the airport--about a 30 minute drive.

Not what we expected

The resort was ok but not what we had expected at all. For the most part we enjoyed ourselves minus a few things that will prevent us from returning and I thought that it would be useful information for you for when you recommend this resort in the future. The beach was amazing but it was often difficult to find a lounger on the beach and loungers at the pool were non existent as they were "reserved" by guests very early morning with their towels so we never had a chance to go in the pool at all the whole vacation. It is a very windy place which we did not know. It is a famous location for kite surfing due to the windiness. It was nice for not being too hot and muggy but not so nice for the waves in the ocean for swimming. We were able to go in to the water about 3 times because the rest of the time there was a red flag and no one was allowed in the water as it was not safe. I came home however with both of my legs extremely chewed up from sand fleas. I'm not talking one or two bites I'm talking hundreds of bites, my legs, ankles and feet were completely covered! Food was great so we were really happy with that!! The rooms were really clean but dated but that is pretty well the norm for Cuba so that's not a big deal. We did not have any bugs in our room so we were happy with that LOL. We paid quite a bit of money after we arrived there for an upgraded room and were rather disappointed with the "upgrade" but all in all it was ok. The customer service at the resort was fantastic for the most part with just a couple of incidents we had which were not major and not worth mentioning. The staff were all super friendly. This resort is more suited for older people that don't mind that there is not really much entertainment and the fact that the resort is made up mostly of older people and want a super quiet vacation. I really would not recommend this place to younger people because they will find themselves extremely bored as we were.

Amazing resort

Had an amazing time. The staff was Amazing and made the stay memerable ! Thank you to Ary, julienne and especially Gerald who made this stay amazing ! Would highly recommend this hotel. The beaches are a beautiful site. !!

Wonderfull resort!!

The hotel is great ,beach is nice... Staff are friendly.. Evening event everyday..elegance club is way better compare to regular.. Just pay little more ( like $50 more) it will save you alot and it will give you 1 wine and a smooth rum you will ever drink..plus towel for beach include you will not get it in the club house anymore... Lots of sports.. Drink all you can.. Try to get room # 1230 it is the best room.. No problem at all.. And one tip bring mosquito repelant lotion is better than spray [... read more] trust me.. Food is ordinary.. Your not in 1st class country.. But aleast its decent.. Bring your own cup to bring your cocktail anyware.. No elavetor so old people ask for ground floor ..

Amazing vacation

The hotel is great with nice views wherever you are, and the people are simply amazing, all the employees are amazing and helpful, they were a very important part of the memorable vacation. First time ever that was kind of said to go back home. Will definitely go back!!!

Amazing time in Cuba the Melia was perfect

We upgraded to a bungalow and really enjoyed the privacy. The staff are soooooo friendly and eager to please and the resort itself was beautiful. We like it so much that we tried to extend our stay for another week but we were unable to arrange flights.

Tropical paradise with the right ambience

The resort was the right choice in relation to enjoying a relaxing and enjoyable holiday. The staff were very friendly and outgoing. We enjoyed the food and the beach was an amazing sight everyday with the turquoise water and palm trees.

Gorgeous resort

Great service, food and rooms. The lobby bar and terrace had some exceptional servers. Entertainment was the best I've seen in a resort down there. The magician and the guitar man were astounding. Nice beach. The only problem we had was finding chairs. Beach chairs and bar chairs were not too plentiful. Anything busy and people were standing. All in all though, 4 plus a bit, thumbs up....would enjoy coming back!

Great beach resort

This was our fifth time at the resort. Great staff , good food, lots of variety. The fresh cook stations are the way to go, with two sea food stations, one with chicken, lamb, pork and beef. Made to order pizza and a pasta station with 2 -3 varieties of pasta and sauces. Salad and desert bars plus a full hot buffet. There are four restaurants, and snack bars at the pool bar and the beach bar. There are many daily activities to get involved in if that's your thing. For us the beach is what keeps us coming back, soft white sand gently sloping and protected by a barrier reef a couple miles off shore. There is a long wharf that runs out about 200 metres into the water. There is good fishing early in the morning and again in the evening from the wharf. During the day snorkeling around the wharf is great with a wide variety of fish. In the early evening there is entertainment in the lobby or on the patio just off the lobby bar at around 9 pm there is a full stage show at the out door theater, with a different theme each night. The rooms are a bit dated but are kept spotless by the staff. The rooms are being upgraded bit by bit. There is a full children's program for families. Great place for people from all walks of life. Good value for the money.

Great resort

The food was really good,no problems finding something we liked. The beaches were really nice. Seagrass out a ways but provided for interesting snorkelling. The staff were great and the rooms well maintained. We will return to this resort.

A good place

The beach was beautiful! pool was great! Room was okay, but no one spends any time in there anyways. I am there for the beach. Thr staff was nice. We went for my three year old son and had a blast. Food on par for Cuba.

Amaizing resort and people

Resort was in a very good shape access to everything and all activities was easy. Everything was great. People are very easy to talk to asking for help was easy to gey s response. Overall resort is in a very good shape beach is awsome a servise was great.
