Amazing Resort! Wonderful vacation.

The beaches are beautiful and well looked after. The service is exceptional. The staff are so friendly and helpful. Villas are clean and comfortable. Our fifth time visiting Brisas and we are already planning our next trip.

Overall a Good Resort

Went with a group of 16. Check in was quick, but we were given a ground floor room in the bungalows and since we had booked back in August of last year and our only request was any floor BUT the ground ( I have a REAL phobia about bugs)and we are repeat guests,( 6-7 times) we were quite surprised and a little disappointed that desk staff didn't even try to accommodate us. We had to go to the other side of the resort to the hotel and speak to customer relations who immediately got us another room [... read more] on the third floor within minutes :) Overall the resort is starting to look a bit more aged. They were working on a few areas and you could tell that there has been some work that has been done. The staff has changed a lot. There were more young employees than ever before and although they were nice, it just doesn't feel the same. There was not the same " happy" atmosphere as in the past. It just seemed like the " family " feeling and upbeat feel of the resort is gone... Witch is unfortunate. Don't get me wrong, we totally enjoyed our vacation!! Just didn't have the same feel.

Fantastic Resort

I love this place. I was at the same resort last year and had such a good time, that my husband and I decided to go back again this year and take the whole family. It is child-friendly, so my grand daughters had a blast. Everyone was really pleased with their rooms (very clean and the maid service daily). We discovered that many people have been to this resort for the past 10 years, 12 yrs, 16 years, they just keep coming back year after year. The dining area was very organized and clean and the food was really good (and this is Cuba, so a lot of people warned me the food was so-so, but we all thought it was pretty good.) The grounds were clean and well kept, there was some work (construction) being done, but it wasn't noisy or inconvenient for anyone. The front desk people were friendly & courteous. I mean seriously, who could complain at an all-inclusive resort where the drinks and the food are available 24-7? The only complaint I have is that we only went for a week. Next time, it will be longer!!!!

Fantastic holiday

Brisas was great as usual happy to see much upgrading being completed. many staff are gone and lots of new faces Villas need some sprucing up painting and work needs to be completed. Staff were fairly quick at rectifying any issues. Buffet was good always something to eat NO mashed potatoes though many times we had baked that was unusual. The Cubans still have terrible beef but lots of choices of fish, pork and chicken Our 14th time here and was very good as usual

Beautiful resort

All the staff are very nice and helpful. Food is pretty basic things it just tasted a little different but still was good! When we arrived, our room was not correct. It was too late at night for anyone to help us switch rooms so we slept there for the night but in the morning we got it all figured out and the new room was beautiful and quite spacious! Entertainment at this resort is always good to watch and there's always something going on activity wise so it's never a dull moment

Really good resort

I really liked how clean it was, I felt safe and everyone was very friendly. One of the grounds keepers saw me struggling with my luggage and helped me with it without me asking or anything. It was very much appreciated. The lifeguard at the pool educated me on sea urchins and I saw him making little hummingbirds for the young children which I though was just great. The doors did not work, and they were rationing out toilet paper. There was no paper towel to dry your hands on. Not a very good last impression of Cuba.

Lovely Resort

We went end of March, no student spring breaks. We stayed in the Villa part of this resort. It was fairly quiet, very clean, very friendly staff, good food. The beach was not crowded, and clean. We could not get over the number of people who are repeat customers to this resort. Many visitors had a good rapport with the staff. We had an excellent holiday and happy to say no complaints!

Comfortable setting feels like a home away from home

The grounds are beautifully kept, they were repainting the exterior of the building while we were there. There are several things that need updating ie: new mattresses, mine was very uncomfortable and the plumbing in the bathrooms need to be updated. The food in the large dining room was upgraded from last year and I enjoyed everything I chose to eat. Plenty of choice and the last couple of days they presentation of the food was awesome. Hotel Review

The hotel was nice, the rooms could use some upgrades especially the washrooms. It looked like there was either black mold or dirt on the ceiling in the bathroom in our room. You can't drink their tap water, so you need bottled water. Only one is provided upon arrival in your room, after that you must either go to the bar to get it filled or pay for more bottles. The water in the Dominican last year was provided for free. Also there is no stocked fridge in your room.

Well maintained resort.

This was our second time to Brisas Guardalavaca and is very good for the money. The room was a good size with a king sized bed, small bar fridge, 1.5L bottle of water which could be refilled at any bar, two lawn chairs on the balcony to enjoy the ocean view and the nightly entertainment. Furniture was in good shape. The bottom floor rooms have been renovated with a walk-in shower, chesterfield and upgraded furniture. I expect the rest of the rooms will be up-graded too. The food was good i [... read more]n the buffet and very good in all six of the alacarte restaurants. The gardens are well kept with dead stuff removed from the shrubs and trees. The beach was always kept clean Our travel agent, Tammy Beamish had arranged for wheelchairs for us at each end of the flight which took some of the anxiety away for my wife as she isn't fond of airports. A very enjoyable holiday!

Great Vacation

Three girls traveled to Brisas for a week and we had a fabulous time. Thoroughly enjoyed the horseback riding with Juan Carlos through the local village and to the bat cave. We walked off the resort everyday and felt safe and was always greeted with friendly hellos by the locals. Beach was beautiful and clean. We will return

Wonderful Vacation

Three of us girls just got back from a fabulous week. The local people and staff were all great, friendly and welcoming. We went for daily walks off the resort and were greeted by the friendly locals and always felt safe. The resort is very clean with a beautiful wide beach. We will be returning.

Beautiful People, Beautiful Resort

Stayed in a mini villa suite, comfortable King bed, clean, plenty of hot water and pressure, coffee maker and fridge with a beautiful ocean view in Building 5 room 5206 very sweet maid who created wonderful towel art everyday. Beach was very wide and had no problem finding a spot even in the afternoon, met some wonderful locals and would recommend horseback riding with Juan Carlos who has stables across the road from the Villa lobby as well as his son Jose for a carriage ride and off resort dinn [... read more]er at La Maison (awesome food, view and service). Will be returning for sure!

Love this spot

This was my second trip to brisas. I had a great vacation . The hotel, food, beach, and grounds are exactly what I am looking for. The entertainment crew are the best of any resort I have been to. The entertainment itself is fun and just enough.. I will not hesitate to go again.

Awesome place!

The beach here is absolutely amazing! Hotel is clean and the food is good. I kept.hearing Cuba has bad food but this place was awesome. If you keep in mind you are in Cuba and keep your expectations there, you can't get good old Alberta beef but it was very nice. Friendly people, older crowd at this place. Would go back for sure!

Status Quo and then some!

We've been going to the Brisas for many years. More recently I read a few reviews indicating that things had gone down hill. After much deliberation we decided to book a week. The hotel is 20 plus years old and certainly it does require updating. The beds are typical "cuban fair". More recently I stayed at a 4.5 star and the beds were no better. Hard. The hotel rooms do smell musty and lingering odour of smokers from years past exist. We had an upgrade to ocean front however the nightly/daily [... read more] poolside entertainment was too much to handle and we moved to the quieter villa's. The resort is very well appointed and far more user friendly than the other hotel I referred to earlier. If you have mobility issues then the hotel is best for you. It has elevators, unlike the other hotel in Santa Maria. The villas are also showing their age but the rooms are cleaned fairly well so if you aren't upset by older amenities then you will be fine. The television channel selection is VERY minimal. The pools are clean. The bathrooms generally have soap, unlike the other hotel I was at, and the cleanliness was really exceptional. Staff are super nice and all work very hard. The buffet breakfast is very good. Lunch was hit and miss. Snack bar/ice cream/churros kiosks super! The hotel has worked very hard to increase their star rating however in all fairness I think they need to update the rooms to really deserve such. The al a carte options are very good. Ultimately I am really glad we went back. I wouldn't hesitate to go again. I think we need to remember it is Cuba and at times their standards don't match ours. If you can over look a few things you are sure to have a good time. The staff really do their best to help you out with any issue you may have. Our air conditioning didn't work in the villa and the guy never did come back to fix it but we didn't let that ruin our vacation.

As usual Brisas doesn't disappoint. Weather was spectacular. Staff wonderful I did feel they didn't have as much entertainment each nite. Food good as usual. Need new beds though or maybe we are spoiled

Love the resort

Can't say enough about the resort. Unfortunately my experience wasn't what I had planned. I have been to this resort many times. I booked back in October and stated that I was a returning guest and requested 5th floor Oceanview with king bed but somehow my request never got to the hotel. So i was stuck in the 3rd floor with 2 double beds and the hotel didn't know I was a returning guest which means I did not enjoy the privlages that come with being a returning guest. Friends booked last minute.  [... read more]Their travel agent requested a 5th floor Oceanview room. Guess what, they got their request yet I did not although I had booked 5 months in advance. Terribly disappointed. I even had my daughter book her upcoming trip to this hotel thriugh trip central. Thankfully I was able to talk to the hotel during my fiasco so that she will not go through the same treatment I did. Hopefully she will get her request and be treated as the returning guest that she deserves. The hotel assured me everything will be good for her.

Villa Experience

We had a large spacious room in Villa #9 which is central to the grounds.Enjoyed the patio mornings to watch tennis players or catch the rising sun. It was also close to the beach and main hotel. The room was clean and everything worked. Happy to have hot water ! Our maid service was excellent.The villa bar and pool area are very relaxing and quieter than the main pool area near the hotel.
