Sunscape Resort in Curacao.

We stayed at the Sunscape Resort the 1st week of Sept. This resort was lovely. We had an ocean front room, that was well appointed with, a mini frig (stocked w/ soda, & beer.) Flat screen tv, in room safe (no extra charge) Iron, plenty of drawers, shelves large closet and a nice washroom, w/ a few toiletries, a big shower stall & always hot water.Maids did a wonderful job each day. Many pools mostly small in size but w/ great views of the ocean, swim up bar at the main pool & the others hav [... read more]e bars close by. The ocean was amazing, crystal clear & plenty of shade. A little rocky to enter in spots but easy to navigate where to enter. There is a break wall a few yrds. out, it makes for calm waters & nice snorkeling The buffet food was pretty good, we liked breakfast & lunch here especially. Some days we found the service ( refilling water & drinks) to be a bit slow but, hey your on vacation. All the a la carte restaurants were very good we tried them all & enjoyed them all, here the service was great. All restaurants are open air either on the ocean or have ocean views and the Italian has indoor seating w/ ac as well as outdoor tables..Heavenly to sit under the stars with the site & sounds of the ocean. The whole resort was clean the staff friendly .We enjoyed the island of Curacao as well. We would recommend The Sunscape Resort Curacao..Go & enjoy.

Great vacation

the Hotel staff were friendly and helpful, rooms were clean and comfortable, grounds were well kept. We stayed in the Royal Tower and even though it was not an ocean view room, the balcony was large and the view from the right side showed ocean. House keeping was good, however we had requested a blanket on the bed and two coffee mugs (only one in the room when we arrived) we never did receive them and after a couple of days we stopped getting the coffee tray filled. Restaurants were O K, was a  [... read more]little disappointed with the evening buffet choices, however we did eat mostly at the bluewater grill, and was very satisfied with their meals. The morning coffee was good at the Cafe and they always had fruit and snacks available, Bar at the pool was great and the staff there always friendly. I would go back to this hotel again. Loved the way the pool area was set up and the entertainment staff and performers were great. Would be nice if they had some more shade on the pool deck.

PERFECT PLACE FOR US!

My husband and I decided "on the spur of the moment" to take the Air Canada Vacation Ottawa-Curacao at the beginning of June 2016. At a great price. The main reason we went was to Scuba Dive; we know that Ocean Encounters is located on the property and that they run a great Dive Centre. We dove 2-3 times every day. We did not use many of the services/utilities offered by the resort apart from having our meals at the main Restaurant - with one exception. The food was varied and very good. [... read more] We particularly enjoyed that we could individually order the pasta and omelettes from the different "stations". The staff was very friendly and helpful - we enjoyed meeting many of them and speaking with them. The room as large and very clean; again the room service was very good. We enjoyed some of the entertainment at night. Specifically we loved to listen to Anthony Michael, the saxophone player. We love his music and his singing. In our opinion he is "an Island Treasure"

Got more than paid for

Very well kept and clean resort. Excellent theme restaurants, including fillet mignon in the Bar and Grill. Brand name liquors in the lobby bar. The strongest point of this hotel are well trained, polite, and attentive staff. Some minor issues eg. missing/broken tiles in the main pool.

The best place to stay in Curacao

This was our first time on such a small island and it was amazing. The resort is beautiful, rooms were clean, food was great and plentiful, tons of activities for kids and adults. Rented car and explored the island very safe and main city was incredible.

Beautiful island, excellent resort!

We travelled as a family of 4 (children ages 8 and 10) and stayed in the Sun Club area. Truly enjoyed the Sunscape experience. Great beach and snorkeling, excellent food and some of the best drinks we've experienced at an all-inclusive.

Great snorkeling

The snorkeling is great at this resort. You feel like you are in a fishbowl. The resort is well maintained but is older so minor room issues are normal. Management will address any of your concerns without question. that was refreshing. The beach is good, water is clear and the beach chairs are plentiful. The food was great at all of the restaurants. We had a large group so food was delivered a little sporadic but the staff were always pleasant. They could use more sitting areas in the evening a [... read more]round the lobby bar. They were always full with no available seating. Nightly entertainment was better than most resorts as they had small bands/duo's every night. I would not hesitate to return and only caution people who like the big marble palaces that keep springing up throughout the Caribbean. This is an older resort and a little smaller which I prefer as you tend to meet more people.

Great trip

Plenty of activities to do during the day, plenty of options on the grounds, great snorkeling right off the beach, great food at the buffet and all four a la carte options. The seafood a la carte was the best atmosphere. The room was very clean and kept up. They had poor service at the Italian a la carte the night we went, but not sure if it was just a bad night or typical (and by bad service, I mean they were slow and inattentive - not rude or anything more severe). The beach isn't ideal for swimming due to a rocky patch - but there are some sandy spots too (I didn't care about swimming other than to snorkel which was great).

Great Resort!

Best snorkeling right in front of hotel. Hotel is very clean, staff super friendly. Food was really good too. Beautiful sunsets and great scuba diving. Nightly entertainment was fun, especially sax player, fire show and carribean parade night. Great time, would return to this resort.

Relaxing Vacation

Friendly staff, well kept grounds, average food for an all inclusive and fun activities should you choose to join in. I recommend upgrading to the Sun Club for a private pool and beach in addition to a bar and coffee area. They could improve their housekeeping consistency. We enjoyed a great vacation at Sunscape.

Absolutely the BEST

The hotel itself was beautiful and top of the line clean. The staff were the best that my wife and I have ever encountered on any vacation we have ever been on (2-3 per year). The pools were cleaned daily and there was never a problem getting a chair or towels. The island was the safest we have ever encountered as well. We actually took a 30 minute walk one day and had island people saying good morning to us as we walked...wow what a change. My wife's ending comment to the trip was "this was the best and most relaxing vacation we have ever had." and that was enough for me to rate this a six out of a possible five stars.

Not amazing for us

We were booked for a week, and decided at the last minute to Upgrade from a deluxe garden room to a Sunscape Club ocean front room. This made all the difference.They say there are all kinds of extra benefits with the Sunscape club, which in truth doesn't amount to much, but that room is awesome, with a 120 degree view of the ocean. Do not bother with their 'restaurants" - Japanese, Oceania, Italian- the service is not great, there are long waits, and the food is simply awful. The place to go is their big central buffet where there is a huge variety with some indigenous dishes as well. I simply cannot fathom why they don't offer a no holds barred Caribbean gourmet restaurant. Wouldn't that make sense? Go with the flow - go Caribbean! Also, regarding the rooms - it would make sense to install at least one towel bar! You are not allowed to put towels on the balcony - so where do you put them? Well this is not the only resort with this issue, just a general complaint. The sea water is crystal clear and comfortably warm, and although it doesn't look like it, there are plenty of colourful fish right within the protected area. You never need to worry about undertow here. On the downside, there is no such thing as a long walk on the beach. All the beaches are small. Weather was steady around 30C every day and no rain. The resort itself is noisy and busy with probably over 400 guests. The entertainment didn't suit us except for a few of the musicians. Lots of yelling, thumping music and line dancing. If you like a quiet retreat this is NOT the place for you! The noise easily drifted to our room so we had to close the balcony door. Service was generally excellent. The employees are friendly and helpful. Service in the restaurants is not so good. We went into town one day, which was a nice break. We also took a tour of the island which was excellent. It was far too hot to hike the national park. The Aquarium was wonderful, just a 10 min walk from the resort. We didn't try any of the town restaurants but if we'd stayed two weeks we would have. There are dozens. To sum it up, Sunscape is a great holiday if you want lots of noise, activity, and fun for the kids. Find another place if you are looking for a quiet retreat. Get the best room you can afford - ocean front is the best.

Great vacation

Weather was perfect. The rooms are clean and spacious. The food was good, lots of selection. Hospitality was great everyone very friendly. Great beach and pool. Great snorkling. Lots to do in the area.

SUNSCAPE CURACAO WISH I WAS STILL THERE.

From the start to finish the hotel staff, food, amenities were awesome. The weather could not have been better and we enjoyed all the restuarants and never waited more then 15 minutes for a table. Our room had a ocean view and the sunsets were spectacular. Can't wait to return.

Good resort.

The beach was very nice, however if you want a long beach to walk on this is not it. There is not enough shade on the beach or pool area. The sun is intense, thank goodness for the trade winds. The food was average, the a la carte restaurants were really good one night not so much on another. The rooms were renovated three years ago, however do not look like it. The service was on and off. There is lots of room for improvement which apparently they are working on. The Sun Club is not worth it. T [... read more]he rooms are identical to the one I was in and even smaller, your romantic dinner is a few feet away from the rest of us. The so called $200.00 bonuses we did not use due to limitations, $60.00 towards dinner on the beach which was $150.00, four $10.00 coupons towards wine at $30.00 a bottle and $100.00 at the spa but only $40.00 at a time towards services priced at $125.00 or over. This was an average resort which we all feel we paid to much for $2076.00 per person the week of Feb. 21-28/16 (travelled with another couple and met one there). We made the best of things and enjoyed our week thanks to great friends.

Disappointing Stay.

My husband and I started off this vacation with high expectations. We had heard wonderful things about Curacao, and the Sunscape Resort. We have travel extensively and generally only consider ourselves particular about food. The highlights of the trip included the terrific weather daily and a number of great staff at the resort. This resort provided a less than average food experience. The buffet is small with limited selection each day, and sadly the options available are mediocre at best (wit [... read more]h the exception of the abundance of Dutch cheeses on the buffet at each meal, which was a saving grace). The a la carte restaurants also provided a less than enjoyable experience. I understand the intent of a no reservation policy, however, this led to long waits for the restaurants or early lines for an early sitting. Neither option is really ideal. Once inside the restaurants the wait for average food was long. We did not have a single remarkable meal all week. The Grill menu include a good filet, which I would recommend, and a less than decent chicken dish with a canned mushroom sauce of some sort... not good. The most enjoyable meal was the beach bbq lunch which we enjoyed from our beach chairs. We did enjoy the Asian restaurant, however, this experience is very dependent on the person working the grill table you are assigned too. All in all, the food experience alone will guarantee that we do not return to this resort. The other most disappointing issue was the evening entertainment. Less than average, limited options, ends early etc. However, the most challenging piece of this is the lack of seating in the common area "core" of the resort where entertainment is held. More than one night we found ourselves missing the entertainment because there were not enough seats in any of the common areas including the Core Zone, Cafe or lobby bar. Frustrating. Sadly this resort did not live up to its billing. We will not be returning or recommending this experience t others.

Great Resort

If you like small resorts, this one was very nice and clean. Staff was always friendly and food was great. A La Carte's every night, no reservations, you can keep going to the ones you prefer. Mine was the Italian, although the Steak house was very good also. Beach is not the best, lots of rocks and can't go far, gets deep fast. It was great to go in town, lots of vendors and lots of stores to shop at. First time went with a tour guide, second trip, went by ourselves with a bunch of friends!

Good

The people were friendly and couldn't do enough for you. The food was amazing, with plenty of restaurant to go around and no reservations. Small beach but beautiful. The rooms are something else, clean but service was horrible to say the least. They would take their tip but not leave towels or soaps

Great holiday at Sunscape Resort Curacao

Just had a great one week all inclusive vacation at Sunscape. Rooms were very spacious and clean. Washrooms adequate for the amount of time we spent in the rooms, however an update could be in order. We had a ground floor suite so the Garden View patio came in useful several times. It had a slight view to the ocean. Food - lots to choose from and easy to get into restaurants. Lots of bars with friendly staff. Beach and pools were great with lots of areas to lounge for everyone. Beach was always  [... read more]clean. Only problem was the room was next to the staff lounge, so we lost a little sleep from some of the noise they would make late evening and early morning. There was always a gentle breeze at the resort so mosquitos didn't seem to be a huge issue.

Awesome views. Amazing beach.

Staff was very friendly and accommodating. The food was decent. Rooms were larger than usual and most have an ocean view due to the layout (awesome!). Loved Curacao. Entertainment was also better than usual for the Caribbean. If you get a chance to see the beach night/fire show that was amazing.
