Nice Resort

The Resort is a little tired and could use a little face lift in the rooms exp: paint is all it needs The Ladies did a great job in keeping our rooms neat and clean Thank You The food I really cannot tell you as I only ate 1 night then got really sick Do not know from what Again the resort is nice but laid out as to almost do a mini marathon to get any were Would I go again? Yes Because of the price and the people and give it a fair trial

Excellent snorkeling!

Good food (as in Cuba). Decent accommodations. Very well maintained grounds. Make sure you bring one roll of toilet paper from home as it might not be replenished on time... Bring water shoes (some rocks as you enter the water). Excellent snorkeling right off the beach.

Ok Resort

Service is good- the stuff is very responsive and friendly . Beach near resort is crappy : green murky water , lots of stones and sharp corals , ocean smells like a toilet ,but if you walk 300 meters you get much better sandy beach. If you come with kids , expect a lot of nasty smokers all around who smoks non stop - the beach should be devided by smokers and non smokers . The food is the worst : Breakfast - Lunch and Diner Are almost the SAME EVERY DAY. Nothing taste good - they need an improvement They reuse the food from breakfast to lunch and from lunch to dinner . The different restaurants that you reserve separatly are not good - same food from the regular buffet but from a previous day. They try to ful you with food : Lobster bisque is actually just cream soup , scallops are not scallops , squid is not squid , crab is not crab - so horrible tasting food ... The only positive food we had was at one of the restaurant where they actually did serve a real Lobster - but the only for plus people . There is a poor choice of fruits or vegetables . DONT DRINK TUB WATER!: we got poisoned by the water they gave us because they put ice there from tub water and they always lie to you that they didn't ! -- if it smells like MOLD - Don't drink it !!! Watch they pure it right from the battle !!! The rooms are nice but dated . Mattresses are not good - uncomfortable ! We enjoyed every night life piano . The look of the resort is nice and well groomed . We would not come back to this resort . We would 3 star it .

Reurning Guest LOVE IT

I travel alone a feel safe at this resort. The staff is very friendly and helpful. Love the Alacart restaurants, beach and VIP pool. I was a little disappointed with the condition of the rooms, could use some fresh paint.

Blau Costa Verde

I have not been to Cuba before, so my views must be considered accordingly... Also, Blau Costa Verde was in transition to being sold to another owner. Regardless, room was okay as a 4 star hotel but food was less than expected. Beach was also not so great; first 10 feet into the ocean was rocky at the bottom along the coast line. Staff did not speak English; few and far in between did. Staff was supportive.

Great resort

The staff and grounds at this resort were great, friendly staff and clean grounds with beautiful beach , what more could you ask for. The hotel itself is in need of some repairs, and is currently working on new ownership. This was evident in a couple of areas as they did run out of a few items while we were there, French fries, hotdogs, bread(once), etc. Still a very enjoyable vacation. I would be very excited to see what changes happen with new ownership.

Fantastic resort

The staff is amazing , our favorite was Sunny she was the first to greet us at the bar when we arrived. I am sure that the group of 11 drove her crazy but she h ad a smile the whole time. The resort is very nice but a bit dated and in need if some repair. We had also found out that the resort was in transition of new owners while we were there , which may explain why they ran out of things during our visit. Loved it again!

This was my second time to this resort and would gladly return. The older section is showing some wear and tear but the plus section was great. We were surprised by the lack of crowds which caused some restaurants to be closed but other than that all was excellent! The staff are great and very helpful. Loved the VIP bar! Would recommend to anyone for an economical and pleasant all inclusive!

The Blau was ok

This was our 2nd time back, we really enjoyed our first time, obviously. They were much better than any other Cuban resort we had been to., and we have been to a few... This time however, was a little lack luster. Maybe we expected too much. Small point but, we never did get our Complimentary Bottle of Rum as returning guests... Leaking roofs in the Main Lobby and Main Dining room, to me are in unacceptable. They are steel roofs. FIX them. I was not a fan of ANY of the Entertainment. it was Amatuerish at best. and in most cases TOO LOUD.The food in the banquet room was fine. It didn't really change night to night, but it is Cuba after all. You don't go there for the food. The A LA Carts were nice. Service there was good as well. Service around the Bar I felt was Slow. I had a few incidents, but that was more on individual servers, and not fair to the whole group of them. But over all it was slow. Don't expect them to come to your table. Maybe if you TIP up front.... But I don't tip in hopes of Service, I tip FOR good service. Rooms were clean, Pools good. Don't know how you can replace missing tiles in a resort opened 365 days a year, so.... Its my opinion that you don't need music every where all day, every day. Some folks even brought in a Bose speaker to the Snack bar, blasted it out over the Pool Bar speakers that were 5 feet away. It shouldn't be our job to ask them to shut it down. We were also almost in a fight with some drunk people, and still no help from Bar staff. We had to handle it on our own. My 2nd biggest concern the broken glass (from the aforementioned drunk folks). In the Snack Bar around the Pool bars... even in the VIP dining room. It didn't seem to be a Top Priority to them. Internet was better, and cheaper than last time, so that was good. You could get in in many areas of the compound, not just the Lobby. Beach was good, although I question if they were draining septic into the ocean on the edge by the towel shack. Maybe its too much to ask but, speaking better English would be nice. We been coming since the 60s, tourism is a HUGE part of their Economy. Try having a conversation with them... people keep saying, "They try hard".... its been 60 some odd years! When will they get it? Americans will surely not put up with it. that will be interesting. in closing its OK. But you come to Cuba for the price and the weather, and the absence of Americans! lol

Relaxing vacation

Had a nice relaxing week here. Resort was not too busy. All staff very nice, although felt pressure to tip frequently at bars. Bartenders simply were not as friendly if they didn’t receive a peso after every drink served. Felt we were ignored by staff at bars when they were conversing with Cuban vacationers. Food comparable to other Cuban resorts. Great that snack bar is open 24/7. Beach beautiful though was grateful that we brought our water shoes as it’s quite rocky in an out of water. Sew [... read more]age smell noted in ocean and beach area, possibly a result of the recent rains. Grounds well kept, though notably aged. We noted that clean up of broken glassware was not highly prioritized. At one point I picked up glass from the floor of the buffet patio. My husband picked up glass near the Club House bar at the beach. My father in law witnessed a glass be dropped at the snack bar one evening. The next day large remnants of it were still there. I am not sure of smoking regulations in Cuba, though there was no regard for maintaining smoke free areas for non-smokers and children.

Hotel was dated but clean!

Had a great trip even though it rained 6 out of 7 days. We stayed in the regular section, it was dated but clean. Staff was very responsive to any issues. The beds were not the comfiest but fine. Food was pretty good. Italian for lunch was our favourite! The beach was rocky but we were fine with our water shoes. Snorkeling was great although we only got do it the last day because of the weather, although the kids loved the rough ocean just as much! Would Go Again!

Terrific resort with many amenities. We stayed on the Plus side and found it to be well worth it. Pools, bars and restaurants were all very clean and the service staff were fantastic. Less than an hour from the airport, it's worth the drive. Rooms were modern and clean. VIP bar was great when looking for a few additional choices of drink... bartender was amazing! A Resort In Transition.

We stayed at this resort from November 27- December 9. We continue to return to this resort at least once a year. It has become a favourite. The Plus section is a solid 4 star. It is no longer co-managed by Blau Resorts. It is in transition and the new partner is Fiesta Americana from Mexico. There was not a large headcount when we were there. I do believe that it was because of the past hurricanes. No need to worry as Cuba is up and running as if nothing happened. There were lots of chairs an [... read more]d shade area around all of the pools and on the beach. A perfect beach for snorkelling and swimming. I would recommend the Plus section because of the newer ammenities and the digital air conditioning. There were lots of upgrades continuing on the older buildings. We will be returning. I advise to take insect repellant and an after bite lotion. Due to the heavy rains previously there were a lot of no see ums and mosquitos. It was very hot, humid and sunny during our stay.

Ok

there was no tomato juice available in the restaurant or the lobby and other bars I wonder how they make drinks that require tomato juice. the store had limited selections and no gin for sale and no water at other times. I wonder why they did not put the hotel closer to the beach even with a rocky shoreline it would be ok. they need a path along that rocky area.

Blau Casta Verde, Cuba

We had a very good two weeks in Cuba, with a couple over cast days. The food, beach and pool was great. The Sunwing agent was great, l had one problem, l found a Scorpion in my ground floor room. I told the Sunwing agent and he had the front desk move me out of that room to a third floor room. The desk was slow at moving me. It took my whole day to get a different room. Have a good day. Great vacation

I travelled to this resort on November 11th. for 1 week. Overall the resort is nice. I recommend the Plus upgrade. Nicer rooms, more A la carte reservations, Wi fi available in rooms in some buildings. VIP bar access for a quiet drink. Water shoes a good idea if you like to swim in the ocean, but not necessary. Food rating based on it being Cuba. Lots to eat and decent quality. Room rating based on view. Most are garden view, I prefer a pool or true ocean view. Hard to get at this resort. My [... read more] bed and pillows were the best I have had compared to 6 previous visits to resorts in Cuba.

Loved it!

A wonderful resort. We stayed at the Plus side. We enjoyed the A La Carte dining especially the wonderful Lobster dinner! Everything is close by and the beach is so beautiful with clear turquoise water. A wonderful place to snorkel! We enjoyed our daily catamaran rides!

Very good resort overall!!

Really enjoyed the resort! We stayed in the plus section which was lovely! The beach was in a stunning bay but was a short walk. The beach staff were great! The pool had lots of activities to keep all busy. Loved the food! They made the best with what they had! Never went hungry. One of the best Cuba vacations I’ve had!! Would recommend and go back!

Amazing Experience!

My boyfriend and I visited the Plus section of the hotel and could not have been happier! After booking this hotel last minute with very seemingly cheap prices, we were a little worried but could not have been more pleasantly surprised with the service, entertainment, food and overall experience. All of the staff were extremely helpful and nice. We arrived October 27th. We got 4 A La Carte dinners for the week and the food was better than most restaurants in Toronto. Especially the lobster dinner. We met a bartender named Adam (Adan) working at the VIP and lobby bar and he could not have offered better service! He would always do amazing tricks while making our drinks and was genuinely interested in talking to us. My boyfriend and I are both students in our early twenties and couldn't tip as much as he deserved but he was always happy to see us and never treated us any differently. This hotel offered so much for its price and I would strongly recommend it to anyone interested in a quiet, relaxing getaway. Thank you to the Blau Costa Verde staff for making it such an enjoyable experience! I would love to return someday.

A swimmer's paradise

The Blau was going through renovations and coping with the aftermath of a hurricane. It was low season so many of the usual restaurants were closed. Food was definitely down a notch. Snacks were scarce and when we finally got bananas it was a celebration. Bread was almost exclusively 'wonderfluff." Most of the fault with the food was from trying too hard to be "fancy.".....vegetables and meat hidden under oil, sauce or gravy. Occasionally there was simply prepared fresh steamed or baked food and it was most welcome. The hotel is changing owners and there was much speculation about what that would mean. It is difficult to know how much the transition is affecting the overall quality. That said, the staff are still warm and accommodating with very few exceptions. Rooms are standard but comfy. The beach is lovely. Fish everywhere. Wonderful swimming and lots of water toys, peddle boats, etc. I will return again when things get settled with the new management. Can't help but have fond nostalgia for the place. I have been there many times. Here is hoping.
