Amazing Experience

The resort was very clean and very welcoming. It was nice to sit by the pool and relax or to take advantage of the variety of planned activities if we wanted to participate. The dining was great offering a variety of ethnic foods. It was unfortunate wine was not available however other beverages were available. I would definitely recommend the resort and I will be returning. Ps. met some great people. New friendships.

Mixed Review

The staff is great. The property is excellent. Our building had no hot water for two days, our friends in another building had no hot water for two weeks. The buffet and a la carte restaurants had no wine. The food at the buffet was fine except for the beef and pork. The only a la carte restaurants that were good were the Cuban and the Japanese. We were here 3 years ago and thought that we would try it again as it was great the last time.

Disappointimg Trip

Their a lack of hot water, and food appeared to be recycled and rather tasteless in the main cafeteria. The same food was served in both restaurants and steak not properly trimmed and no steak knives. There was not the same varieties of liquor or food that was present in previous stay. Had to pay for 2hr delay checkout on 9PM flight. The staff, with the exception of the room maid, were not as friendly as on previous stay. Beautiful resort but needs some work

Lovely resort but showing a bit of wear and tear, videos and pics are misleading. They showed the royal section which is only available if you book it, otherwise you are on the crowded side of the resort. Room was clean and chambermaid was lovely and always greeted us with a smile. The room was musty when we turned on the AC. The bathroom fan was broken. The beach is gorgeous, no aquatic life so don’t bother with your snorkeling gear, but don’t forget bug spray and wear it at all times, as the resort doesn’t appear to fog or spray. So stay off the grass as the bugs hide out there. This is my 10th time to Cuba so I am not new at this but I have never seen bug bites like this in my entire life. I enjoyed the entertainment and had a great time at the piano bar for karaoke the lovely lady who plays the piano and sings is great, so were the guests that sang. The food was alright, no complaints, it’s Cuba not Mexico. Occasionally the odd bar would run out of things like tonic water etc so they need to refine their supply chains. The 24 hour had no food one night, how does that happen? All in all the weather was good, most of the staff we encountered were kind and helpful, but varadero is just different compared to guardalavca where we have been in the past. I spoke to other Guests who had been there previously and noted that things have gone down quite a bit. If they fixed everything up along with supply issues maybe fixed all the facilities and make use of all the empty hot tubs around the resort it could go up a star rating but it’s definitely not 5 perhaps 3.5 star The royal section is lovely and so are the pools but I wouldn’t pay what I paid To return. If you get a good deal then go, but make sure your room is what you paid for, my friend had to switch 4 times because things just didn’t work or were broken.

Not a 5 star.

First let me say this, the staff for the most part are wonderful. Now onto the not so goods. Our first room from the moment we entered smelled like mold. Not musty, not mildew but mold. Signs of it were throughout the main room and bathroom. Spent one night in that only to be awoken by what one would think was an earthquake. Umm no, our bed broke! Went to front desk and spent a few hours sorting that ordeal out. Finally ended up in a room with 2 twin bed which we pushed together for the  [... read more]remainder of our stay. The grounds were not maintained as well as they should've been. The hot tubs weren't working. One had water in it for who knows how long. Ran out of towels for our rooms and got some the following day. Having been now to what I was expecting to be a 5 star top notch resort, I'm saddened to report it is not. I sincerely hope they correct this and regain their status. If you expect 3.5 to 4 then you'll be satisfied. I feel we paid too much for what we received.

Another wonderful visit

This was our 10th trip to Cuba and our 5th visit to the Paradisus Princesa Del Mar. We have another wonderful vacation. The weather was fantastic and we had a lovely ocean view in the building we had requested. It was wonderful to see old friends, such as Liuba, Diane and Luisa who served us during breakfast and lunch. We enjoyed catching up with Yusmila in the piano bar and we had 2 incredible meals cooked by Evelio at the Sakura Japanese Restaurant (one was the teppanyaki style and the other w [... read more]as a personal sushi dinner for the two of us). He has served us every visit and he puts on a great show with delicious food. We ate at several a la carte restaurants and some were better than the others. We enjoyed the Japanese, French and Cuban. The buffet offers a large selection so you will never go hungry! The only disappointment was the lack of wine. We could buy wine at the restaurants but there was no house wine available. We did not like that we had to pay at an all-inclusive but this was a small detail. Our room was always clean, and one night we did not have clean towels, as they had not been delivered, however as soon as they arrived the house keeper brought them to our room. The staff at the resort is incredible. They are always smiling and ready to assist you. You will never have to wait long for any service. The resort is clean and the beach is really nice. We never had an issue finding a great spot on the beach. This was our first time in February as we normally go in April. There was more sea grass than normal but it never bothered anyone. My husband and I always recommend this resort for a relaxing adult’s only experience. We look forward to our next trip to this resort.

Beautiful grounds & beach

The resort grounds are lovely and so is the beach. However, service ranged from the very good, such as that of our hotel maid, to the very bad. For example, we complained 3 times to get water to our room, reassured each time, but getting water only after the third complaint. Food was hit and miss. For example I ordered a beef loin steak at the Bsmboo restaurant that was tougher than shoe leather. I couldn't cut it with a knife and was impossible to chew. The same applies to the buffet. Imagine, red wine available at the Japanese restaurant, with excellent service and food, but not at the Italian one, with mediocre service and unappetizing food to boot. The air conditioning in our room was so bad that clothes in our closet were damp to the touch. We essentially got cold air but no moisture removal. In general, we found many staff motivated, friendly and accommodating, while others were just putting in time.

Letdown bigtime

Was very disappointed,no wine,no vodka,room very tire,refrigerator did not work,towels and room musty,no coffee in room for days,tv beyond old,key in door had to be changed twice,only a 3 star,staff was fair if you could get their attention,check in took about an hour,would not recommend.

Very nice resort

Very well looked after, very clean, except for the beach was covered in seaweed. The people were very friendly and accommodating for the most part except at check in, took 2 hours for them to check us in. They weren't organized at first. The shows were good, restaurants were excellent. Got a private tour to Havana which was awesome. Had a very nice time. They were short on food though. The only other problem was no hot water for the first 5 days.

Nice resort

The resort was in great shape visually. The ala carts were great. The hilltop restaurant was very nice. The miramar was amazing. The service was just okay. The entertainment was just okay. Running out of food and wine is absolutely not acceptable. This is an all inclusive I should not have to buy wine. We should have been told. The owners do not care and think of as many excuses as possible.

Outstanding grounds

Paradisus Princess Del Mar has an outstanding grounds layout; everything is in located close by with many amenities. The pool is amazing and the beach incredible. A lot of beach chairs—not crowded together. Food is Cuban style; variety was good, prepared to your taste. Something for everyone. Staff is friendly who had to deal with customer complaints regarding NO WINE DURING MEALS (even at a la carte).! For a 5-star...not ideal considering the price paid. Hit and miss with restaurants [... read more] around resort so was it was management or an embargo(?). Yet wine was available for purchase. Mosquitos or small biting bugs everywhere...bug spray didn’t help in mid February. No French fries in this adult resort. Overall weather was awesome; great coffee; delightful week with our group of 8.

Paradisus was indeed Paradise

The resort itself was absolutely gorgeous - picturesque. The photos provided online are indeed a true reflection of the actual grounds. Resort was very clean, very pretty. The food was great :) The room was clean and staff were so very friendly. Nightly shows/entertainment were spectacular. Tours/excursions were fantastic!

First visit to Cuba

Very nice resort when new , much repair needed, only 2 jacuzzi’s in the entire resort working, shower broke on day 3 never repaired. Lacking some food items like butter, orange juice, limes at times but likely the same everywhere. Staff very nice and friendly, rooms are clean, limited supplies like towels, frig supplies in room never refilled. Would not come back to this resort without trying others first.

Just ok

Staff very friendly tried their best. Not that clean we asked for water never got it. Man in our hotel waited 3 days for them to fix his shower.Linen and towels not clean. Long line ups for food. We understand CubaHas difficulty getting things that is not a problem for us.

Certainly not a 5* resort

beach- all varadero beach is exceptional food-because of the embargo the food is not good in regards to variety.example bacon twice in 7 days.you will always find something.oj is rare. service-from poor to very good.example fridge not stocked daily because maid said they do not have it.room is clean. shower-hand held shower only with no hot water or water pressure.not exceptable for a true 5* star resort. grounds-excellent.everything is very close together. nightly entertainment is a 3* at  [... read more]best.no Michael Jackson,no audience participation,no fire shows etc.. no small bottles of water for day trips. bank on resort open 24-7-is a bonus. not enough chairs during night shows a lot of people especially older had to stand up.poorly organized.

Don’t go

Awful food, poor service, no wine is not acceptable at an all inclusive, last day there no vodka ridiculous Will never return to Cuba employees all seemed tip hungry, I expected service. Not changing my bathroom towels the whole trip was another thing that disturbed me... I threw towels on the ground and the maid just hung up the dirty towel. The mini fridge was never stocked after asking 5 times... oh once they put 2 beers in it. Thx

Cuba a beautiful gem of a resort. A royal paradise beside the ocean

Paradisus Princessa del Mar it was our 3rd time there. Its still our favorite in all of Cuba. You can eat off the floor basically everywhere. We had the juniour Royal suite. I think it was just built. Very clean and well maintained. This time the food was excellent!! Lobster and scampi's was served 4 times in less than a week. Shrimp practically every day. All the staff was EXTREMELY polite and went out of there way to serve us. The waitresses in Mira Mar restaurant were great and anti [... read more]cipated our needs. The manager when it was busy help serve keeping all the staff up to speed. I actually gained 3 kg. Royal service is a worthwhile upgrade. Maids did their job sometimes changing the sheets 2x a day. Thank you senorita ! Next time I will try the Jeep tour. Spoke with some people and they loved it Negative: My wife got bit by a few mosquitoes and needed benadryl. But that happens every time. Paradisus princesa del mar

This hotel was advertised to us as a 5 star which was far from the truth...by the end of our week stay new guests said it was now advertised as a 4 star and I’m sure the decline will continue. No fun, freezing pool - only one accessible to regular guests, another one just for ‘royal guests’. Food was terrible, no fun, lacked entertainment - changed our sheets and TOWELS only the day before we left! ALL WEEK THEY FOLDED UP OUR DIRTY TOWELS AND REPLACED THEM! All guests said the same, place  [... read more]was crap...would’ve been okay if we got the week for like $600. Literally no entertainment, bartenders were no fun, nothing to do. Would never recommend this place don’t even want to think about it. The food you know is bad, we don’t go to Cuba for the food though so that’s whatever. Don’t book excursions through air transat either - especially not day trips to Havana. Save yourselves.

Amazing resort

So lovely and friendly staff With so pretty and peaceful environment Food was good but it could be much better They had every day and night show and entertainment that kept every body so happy and busy In general every thing was perfect

Amazing beach!

The Resort itself was lovely and mostly well-kept. The beach 20/10 - amazing. Plenty of lounge chairs and palapas - The downside: Every day, there was no hot water to shower in the late afternoon (Building 6B). They kept saying there is a mechanical issue and it was being fixed but it never was. Also, there was hot water in the morning and at night - so it was definitely an issue of incapacity - not being able to accommodate everyone who wanted a hot shower. I know 5 star in Cuba isn't eq [... read more]uivalent to a North American 5 star BUT - this was ridiculous, very disappointing and frustrating. To have access to a hot shower after the beach is not an unreasonable expectation. The quality of the food was mostly poor (except for the sea food) but that is not the fault of the hotel. I have food restrictions and MOST of the chefs tried really hard to help me make sure that I wasn't inadvertently eating anything I shouldn't/couldn't. The Miramar restaurant was a disaster - the staff were clueless re being careful about my food restrictions and it was very stressful..
