Wonderful relaxing week.

Hot 30 degree weather and lots of humidity made for bad hair days but good excuses to lay around the pool, read and people watch. We mostly hung out at the pool by the kids pool as the other one was too warm! Missing my morning cappuccinos in the lobby this week... delicious. The Coba and Tulum beaches though... sooo much seaweed. They work hard to gather, pile and haul away but we didn't go in the water at all. Pretty foul smelling too. Akumel's beach looked clear but we never got down the [... read more]re. We did however have a ocean-view massage at Tulum which was awesome. Buffets were okay... a bit repetitious as usual. Italian and French ala cartes were kinda meh... Mikado at our teppanyaki table was awesome. Try the tapioca dessert there. Lots of music entertainment in and outside of the lobby at Coba kept us entertained after dinner. Watched the magic show one night which was pretty good. Room was nice and cool with a slightly leaky toilet but fridge was refilled daily with our 2 water and 2 beer.

Amazing resort!!

Beautiful resort. Room looked exactly as showed online. Food was amazing. Staff were all pleasant! Photographer " Santos" in tulum location was very friendly and professional. Provided my family with beautiful photos of our experiences.

Amazing spot!

I loved the resort. Staff very friendly, lots of things to do, the only thing I do not like is the people that bug you every time you walk by them to buy time shares, we were even warned about theses people by the west jet employees not to bother with them! And unfortunately the beach was covered with seaweed, after the 3rd day but was a beautiful for the 1st few days! Can’t argue with Mother Nature!

Friendly and amazing

This is our second visit to Grand Bahia Principe Coba..the resort was just as friendly and accommodating as I remember. The food in the a la carte restaurants were fabulous. The buffets were surprisingly better than what I remembered! Rooms were incredibly clean. My only disappointment this year was the beach, we had about 3 days of good swimming then the seaweed invaded the entire shoreline. Not at the fault of the resort because they did incredible work at trying to keep it away, but the waves [... read more] were so big and relentless. This resort also has sooo much to do, a casino, lots of shopping, and nightlife.

Very nice resort

Place was beautiful kept very clean. Food was average lots to choose from some thing for everyone . Our favorite worker was gab ! Such a friendly guy and awesome dancer ..would love to go back one day :)

Great Spot

This was my second time at the Bahia Principe Coba and I wasn’t disappointed. Great weather and even better staff. We always feel welcome when we go. Great place to take your family. Only issue we had was the air conditioning didn’t work in two of our rooms and they couldn’t fix it. It took them 3 days to finally move us to a new room.

Nice Resort

The resort was very large, well maintained with lots of staff. Grounds where gorgeous and pools where great. At times felt the buffet for dinner felt it was the same. The ocean front was not good because of all the weeds but not the fault of the resort. They had lots of people manually taking away the weeds but could never keep up to it.

Wonderful first experience in Mexico

Our stay at the resort was excellent! All of the workers are very friendly and helpful. Best way to get around is by passenger shuttle rather than taxi because it is MUCH cheaper. They are parked on the side of the highway right outside of the resort. Strongly recommend staying away from excursions and planning things out on your own to save a lot of money. Not bad.. not the best

Hi folks.... I contemplated weather or not to write any review because it feels lousy to have anything bad to say about travelling to a great tropical destination and complaining... Then I remembered we work hard to get a vacation and we pay for it, it should be great so If I was signing up to do it again I had to ask myself if I would be back to Grand Bahia Pricipe Coba the short answers no.. the reason is service.... and lack of it FYI check in time is 3pm >>> Remember this if yo [... read more]u plan on arriving early.. upon checking in you are welcome to stand around with your bags for 2 hrs while you wait to unpack.. welcome ! If you are on your way to Bahia Coba don't worry your going to have a good time if your there for a good time.. We are a happy bunch and it takes a lot to spoil a day but there were a couple of bumps. - unfortunatly our trusting nature worked against us in the room security.. We hid the key to the safe in a lousy easily accessible spot, easily accessible for anyone looking for it that is...... that cost 90$ U.S. and a bit of a day 2 bummer but ... hey don't blame the hotel for an individuals actions, We have stayed at hotels where you just don't have to watch out like that.... also in Mexico - the main dining area (not the premium lounge buffet breakfast/lunch) service is absent.. you get a well set table and thats it your on your own.. once your done feel free to blend into the flow of people and like it never happened, just go do something else like try to find that drink you were hoping to have with dinner.. it seems the staff are inundated with trying to stay ontop of the ever changing crowd, its all they can do to make up the tables before theres more tables to clear and its forever like this.. the stuff like drink orders and clearing plates or communication are not a part of dining here.. That was lousy. I don't fault the individuals rather lay blame on the hotel for the number of staff tasked to compete with the volume of guests.. - The pools ---- have life guards that circle like hawks making sure kids don't run .. or jump .. or go 2 at a time down the slides... they are on the whistle all day... Honestly this place is sucking the fun out of swimming especially with kids.. loosen up .. we are only here for a good time the lack of service mixed with the pool rules had us feeling as if we were stuck at some lousy camp.... just a buzz kill..... theres good stuff here too::: the grounds are generally clean well kept and beautiful. They do a good job down at the beach with the seaweed.. The food is really yummy... our kids 7 and 4 spent a few hours in the kids club and the staff there are angels.. awesome .. fun and great. it was nice, gave us a chance to have a mom n dad lunch and joke about the service.. Honestly its otherworldly to be in that environment where waiters can just look right thru you and not respond.. just take it as it comes .... I mean the attitude, the drinks aren't coming :) seriously this place makes you feel like its a bad day at the office.. your in a floral T shirt trying to vacation amongst an army of super hard working people struggling thru the day... I can't chill here how about coming back to your room .. everybody sun soaked and pooped can't wait to cool off 4-5 pm the rooms going to be clean right.. nope ... heres an inside tip for parents looking to come here.. We paid 245.00CAD for a family suite upgrade... when reading online it looks like its a great value with a bunch of stuff.. rooms are exactly the same as regular suites, it means your villa is closest to the kids water park.. thats it... nice we only go to 4+ star hotels.. looking for tropical paradise is one thing but feeling welcome for a week is really important to us too... thats not here in the fall we are headed back to the Mayan, Karisma resorts lay waste to any other resorts we have been to hands down.. we travel as a family .. Sensatori and the Fives are bliss.. If you end up here make the best of it... a bad day the the golf course is better then a good day at the office ! Ciao

Good value, amazing staff

Staff were amazingly friendly. Rooms were clean. Food was good, a la carte restaurants were very good. beach was nice, could actually swim in the warm ocean with comfort, staff cleaned the seaweed from the beach if needed, well done. plenty of sun shade areas at the beach.

Beautiful Resort!

Really nice hotel! Excellent food, spacious and beautiful rooms, big bed, lots of pillows, clean, excellent pool view from our balcony, jets in the bathtub! Beautifully kept gardens, lots of wild life around without disturbing the people, beautiful beach, excellent restaurants and food, we only ate at 3 of the many the hotel has and all of them were excellent. The Mediterranean, the Tortuga, etc. Lots of areas to relax, nice shows, live music, kids entertainment. Couldn’t ask for a better plac [... read more]e!

Very Happy with this resort

Just returned from a 7 day vacation at this resort. We have been to the Grand Bahia Principe in Dominican Punta Cana and really liked it so thought we would try the one in Mexico. Although this resort is very large it is very well kept the grounds were clean and tidy. The people working here were very pleasant and always willing to try and please. We upgraded to the Royal Golden and it is well worth the extra money. The separate lounge with wifi and a bar was small but always had space to  [... read more]sit and was very close to our room, which was very central to everything food and pools. The beach was a long distance away but the tram system took you there whenever you wanted to go. Food was very good in the buffet and the a la cartes. Was a bit hard to get a decent time for supper at 2 of the 4 a la cartes we went to which was disappointing since we booked as soon as we checked in but again there are a lot of people in this resort. The room was clean and organized we used our safe with a lock which was supplied by the royal golden check in and everything was safe and sound beginning to end. Sports bar was good even streamed the Leaf game for us since there were so many Canadians at the resort. The pools were very well looked after, they were busy and sometimes hard to get a shade seat but we usually found one eventually. I would highly recommend this resort for a family vacation.

Good value!

Flight was good.Took 4,5 hours from YVR to Cancun and THREE hours from Cancun to Coba. Shame on WestJest for such transfer! If we knew, we'd rather take a taxi.Beach was cleaned on daily basis.Thanks!

Beautiful Resort - Bahia Principe Coba

This was our first time in Mexico and first time staying at a Bahia Principe resort hotel. Service - Service was excellent but staff are very busy and few of them which means it can take a while to get a drink. However, if you walked up to the bars...you were served very quickly. Same with buffet. I read a lot of previous comments about "rude or unhappy staff". What I witnessed was hard working & tired staff. NOT rude. Staff were just as friendly if you tipped then if you didn't...unlike some [... read more] places we have been. Food - Awesome. From buffets to A la cartes… lots of variety, fresh and well cooked Beach - we weren't overly impressed with the beach. The Seaweed was very bad (not a resort issue) which meant we spent most of the time around the pools. Rooms - very clean Public Bathrooms - immaculate!!! Pools - Pool chairs with shade were hard to come by. Had to get up early to get one. Pools themselves were well kept and clean. Gym - Busy in the mornings. Good equipment. Friendly staff. Grounds - Well kept, groomed and beautiful. Getting around: This is one of 4 resorts together. Walking to and from for those who don't like to walk or mobility challenged, would be happy to know there is shuttle service available. Walking around resort could be done in about 15-20 min. Shuttle to the beach as it is quite a distance away. Check in / Check out - Smooth & quick Overall: Besides the beach (mainly the seaweed issue), were we very pleased with this resort. We would definitely return to this resort or any Bahia Principe resort.

Very clean resort

Very clean and beautiful resort. Most clean room I ever I had in all my travels. Food was just ok but I’m a picky eater. Beach was good and bad. Coba beach on bad days had so much seaweed. Tulum beach on good days was awesome. Shallow- great for young children with lots of fish to look at. Most negative part of the trip- my son new stuffed animal was stolen from our room the night before departure.

Excellent resort

The resort was very clean with endless food and drink options. There are multiple resorts on the grounds. The golf cart transportation was frequent and fast. You did have to wait during peak dinner and show times for an available cart to go between resorts but that’s to be expected. Downside-the beach. The water is shallow and rocky. Not good for swimming but there’s always the pools.

Wonderful family vacation!!

Our trip at the beginning of April to Grand Bahia Principe Coba was of our favorite vacations to date. We have 2 boys (4 and 6) There is a great water park for the kids. The food was fantastic with choices for every taste and diet. (Buffet was actually better than the a la cartes in our opinion). The grounds are beautiful. It is a 5 minute shuttle ride to get to the beach which was not a nuisance..It ran often and was fun for the kids. The resort is big but not overwhelming. By the second day we had it all figured out. The only negative if I had to choose one was our room wasnt ready until 4pm on the day of check in. Enjoyed my Stay at the COBA

We stayed at the COBA from April 7-14. The reception staff were very polite and efficient. We were offered a beverage while we completed the check-in paperwork. I found that our check in process was fast. The resort grounds were well-manicured as the groundskeepers worked tirelessly to maintain that affect. There are trolleys to take you to the other complexes such as Tulum, Akumal, Sian Ka, which make up the Grand Bahia Principe. The COBA is not a “spring break” party resort, but it is a fa [... read more]mily friendly resort with the kid pools, kids club, and a life guard supervised mini water park. My 2 year old grandson just loved the water park and the slides. The rooms are typical for a resort. In the room there was a flat screen TV as well as a coffee maker, an iron & ironing board and a fridge that was stocked every day, with 2 beers, 2 large bottles of water, and various soft drinks. The daily maid service was good. The main buffet restaurant is very typical of all-inclusive resorts. The COBA does a good job appealing to an eclectic clientele with various tastes, even the pickiest eater should be able to find something to eat. Depending on your timing, if you happened to be at one of the food stations when the food trays are being refilled, you will get hot food. Otherwise, the food quickly loses it heat sitting in the trays. There are no food warming lamps in the stations to maintain the heat. The food offering can seem repetitive, so if I can make a suggestion, is that you vary your focus on your food selections. For example, select chicken, one day, meats the other etc., so you don’t get tired of eating the same thing every day. The a la carts book up quickly so I strongly suggest that you make the reservations after you have checked in, as you might not get the restaurant or time you want. There are 2 pools. A main pool where you have the animation team and activities, and a quite pool. At the main pool, they have live music around the pool area with an outdoor Mexican buffet to complement the pool bar restaurant. This year most of the animation team were all new. They are very friendly, outgoing, however, the team focused on Yoga, Jenga and stretching classes. I had to remind them not to neglect the popular, high participation rate of all age’s activities like Bocce, Horseshoe and others. There are night shows such as Circus, Michael Jackson, live music tribute bands starting at 9:00 pm that very entertaining. I would like to recognize Alba and Pilar who provided very good and friendly service at COBA main buffet, Kevin and Luna as part of the animation team, Anwar and Rodrigo from the client service management area for their assistance. In closing, even though it is an all-inclusive package, the restaurants, bar and cleaning staff work very hard. I’ve seen people being rude and treating the la cart servers disrespectfully, then leaving without tipping them. A few dollars to us will not break you, however, will be very appreciated by them as my understanding their pay isn’t very much.

Great resort

Been to this resort 5 times now and we love it. Great food at the buffet and at La Carte restaurants. Very clean rooms and good staff. The beach had weeds at times but we could always find a spot to swim in the ocean or in one of the many pools. The resort gyms are well equipped for those like us who like to train daily when on vacation. Good choice for couples, families, groups. Nice kid's water park at the COBA as well as a dolphin pool with daily shows.

Great Holiday!!

We just got back from the Grand Bahia Principe Coba and we had a great time!! It is a very large resort with lots of walking if thats what you like to do. Resort is pretty well maintained from what we saw over the week. Great resort for families that is for sure!! Food at the buffet was good and I want to say a huge thank you to Omar and Daniel our servers for breakfast and lunch all week!!!! Antonio our Air transat rep was very helpful as well. Now on the non positive side , the a la car [... read more]te restaurants were just ok, that is if you are lucky enough to get a reservation, from what I heard some people book almost a month in advance so that leaves very little left for the ones that want to book when they get there. We tried to book the don pablo at the tullum section and the earliest we could get was 9:30pm and only 1 day was available. Rooms are starting to get a bit dated but in descent shape other than the mattresses which were hard as a rock,unless you like that. In my opinion the royal package is not worth the extra money paid as you really dont get any extras!!! All in all it was a great week and will probably go back!!!
