Memories Cayo Largo: Wonderful time - great memories

Best resort in Cuba! Staff, food and beach are all amazing. Great break before Christmas. The beach washed out a bit due to high waves and weather, but sunny and hot (just the way it should be). No need to say more...

Memories Cayo Largo: Relaxed vacation

Hotel Sol Cayo Largo was a very good place for us - not much for people looking for noisy parties, but best place for us. Rooms are simple but clean; rooms service was good, they provide only a bottle o f water daily, no beer or soft drinks but we didn’t need these anyway. The grounds are well maintained, the beech is not at its best just in front, but the beach restaurant Ranchon that works as buffet at lunch was with the best combination of view, good food and good service. Definitely the crowd was more mature, not many young people but to some of us this was a plus. People were a good mix of Canadians, Italians, German....overall a week we will remember with very warm feelings and most likely will be back

Villa Natura: Good hotel price/quality

This is a basic hotel. Very clean, rooms are ok and the view of the ocean is a nice thing. Restaurants are just Ok, not many row vegetables and not many ingredients used for cooking. But they have acceptable variety. The snack bar is nice, cappuccino, espresso and Irish coffees are great! The restaurant where you can eat lunch and dinner has nice sea food. The transportation to the Sirena and Paradise beaches sh [... read more]ould normally be included, but they are charging for it. Luckily the Eden hotel next to Iguana has a beach, nice and empty. Terrible biting insects in the evening.Personnel very accimodating and nice. Entertainment team and barmans are really great.

Memories Cayo Largo: Rooms had better days...

Sol appartements are looking great from the outside, but... After a late evening check in that lasted for an hour, we were assigned room 1011. We walked to it at about 10PM, the resort looking in good condition under the electric lights. We opened the door and walked in, quickly realizing that the AC had'nt been turned on prior to our arrival. Managing to turn a grim light on, we sadly noticed the poor condition of the furniture that had been painted in white a few times already but in dire [... read more] need for an other coat. All the light shades must have been dating from the resort's original days, badly yellowed and looking dirty. The patio for was almost unopable, having been forced with something from the inside. Wouldn’t lock as well, as the lock was broken. The bathroom was OK, discounting the fact that the plumbing in the bath was all loose and sticking out from the wall. The beds mattresses had seen better days also... We managed to turn the AC on, quickly noticing a strong rumble that couldn’t be fixed. Oh well... The property itself was in quite good condition. The pieces of meat that were served at the evening buffet were really good but as for most Cuba outfit, selection was scarce. The worst ceartainly the morning buffet, where fruits were almost non existant, except for pineapples and and some orange pieces that were somewhat covered by fruit flies. Hum... No yogurt and bad coffee. All in all, we certainly were disappointed by the Sol, knowing that it's the most expensive resort in Cayo Largo. The Pelicano gardens certainly were not in as good condition, but everything else was better for a much cheaper price. Melià, you have some serious work to do there....

Starfish Cayo Largo: Close to the beach

This was our first time visiting the Pelicano Hotel it was ok, with one good size pool although the liner was ripped in many spots and is in need of replacing. We would have enjoyed having music playing throughout the hotel grounds as it was quiet for large portion of the day including around the pool. The dining facility was disappointing they scaled back to approx 25% capacity with limited food selection. Regardless of the time of year selection should still be there for paying customers.  [... read more] The beach was nice and close to the hotel however the customers from the Sol hotel the next resort down populated a large majority of the Pelicano beachfront so getting a chair was very challenging unless you were prepared to wake up at 4:30am and walk down to get a chair... which we did each morning. The beach staff worked hard to keep it looking good each day (seaweed, garbage removal) however the majority of the Palapas were not set up all week... until you paid for them to be set up. The entertainment was good each meal live music you cannot get better that. I will say the staff was amazing, friendly and funny!

Villa Natura: Love it!

Nice hotel - excellent deal for the buck. Have been there 3 times and enjoyed each one. Except last time (October 2018) there was almost no beach at the resort. A bit on the left - towards Pelicano. The rest was as usual - good, clean rooms with running water and AC. Excellent service, reasonable food.

Memories Cayo Largo: Nice looking and comfortable resort

The grounds were well kept. The buildings are old but clean. The personnel were very friendly and helpful. The food was very good. The beach was very well kept. It was like a dream come true to walk on such white sandy beach. The Playa Serena 10 minutes away was breathtaking with pristine waters.

Memories Cayo Largo: 5th time - Great vacation as always

Sol is an old but clean resort. The grounds are well kept. A lot of renovations were done, and a lot as still to be done. The food is always Cuba, you don’t go to Cuba for it you go for the sea! That being said you wont starve you can always find something, pizza and pasta often do the trick. Also the fish at the international restaurant on premises. Memories Cayo Largo: Beautiful resort with great and friendly service. However, be aware!

The grounds are beautiful and varied. Service is in every way prompt and courteous. Food is appetizing and varied. You can even have bubbly wine in the morning with your breakfast :-) The rooms are large and clean. Many, on the second floor, have view on the sea even though they are not "rooms with sea view". However, many rooms provide a limited view, ie. give out on other bungalows... On the negative side, water is not always available on the grounds. It seems the desalinization plant c [... read more]an't keep up with the number of the hotels on the island. Water was cut off periodically, although even the hotel manager denies it. I talked with many repeaters who confirmed the fact. After a while, we found out that water was available at around 5AM to 10 or 11AM, then it was cut off till 5PM when it was available again till around 10 or 11PM, then cut off again till 5AM... We were very unlucky this year because we had heavy rain for over a week. Matters were made worse by the fact water was seeping in our second floor bedroom along one of the walls. I had to use our towels to keep water out of the central part of the bedroom so we would not slip while going to the bathroom (then when we did, we could not flush the toilet for lack of water...). We where offered to change room. Lots of people on second floors had the same problem, so we couldn't take the risk of repacking and unpacking again to find ourselves in a similar situation elsewhere. Luckily, before our first week was over, the lady next door reached the end of her vacation. We made arrangements with the office to change rooms. We were able to expedite matters by moving our belongings using the front veranda. Finally, to our dismay, while we were waiting for the signal to enter the "outdoor cafeteria", when we saw a person spraying the tables with a solution to kill flies. Of course, the tables were already set with cutlery and glasses... people didn't understand our concerns... When I underlined the fact to Public Relations, I was told that this matter would be corrected. I'm not sure it was corrected the proper way. A doubt lingered... Of course we wouldn't see this anymore.It would be done sooner... The spraying at night was common on the grounds...

Villa Natura: Parfait petit hôtel, je recommande!

Un parfait petit hôtel, sans flafla inutiles. Le restaurant, le bar, la piste de danse, le snack bar ainsi que la piscine, tout est au même endroit, à proximité des chambres. Les bungalows de bois sont plus éloignés, alors en basse saison, ça fait un peu plus loin à marcher. Le buffet du restaurant propose un choix très restreint de mets mais tous sont très bons (meilleurs qu'au Sol). Sérieusement, la nourriture est vraiment très bonne, même si elle est très simple. De fruits frai [... read more]s tous les jours (ananas, papayes, melon d'eau et parfois des mangues). L'animation manque un peu d'enthousiasme mais l'essentiel est là. Je vous suggère de payer le supplément pour prendre une chambre avec vue, car ces chambres-là sont vraiment très proches de la mer. Le personnel est courtois, sans être vraiment chaleureux, mais ça va. Soyez prévenu du nudisme à la plage qui borde l'hôtel. Certains peuvent être choqués. Pour la distance de l'aéroport, la vue sur la mer, la qualité de la nourriture, la proximité à l'intérieur de l'hôtel, et surtout le prix (700$) je le recommande à 100%. Si vous voulez quelque chose de luxueux et luxurieux, je vous recommandé de payer plus cher et d'aller au Sol. N'oubliez pas d'apporter chasse-moustiques (on en a eu seulement le dernier soir), tapette à mouches et parapluie/puncho.

Starfish Cayo Largo: Peace and quiet

We love this resort since it is peaceful and quiet. This is what we need. The only negative aspect is that even though the hotel has been sold in the last year or so, there doesn't seem to be any renovation going on. The hotel is dated and in need of a fresh coat of paint all over. I wish there will be renovations done do this resort in order to continue attracting people and be safe. Pool also needs major repairs.

Memories Cayo Largo: Excellent Resort (for Cuba)

Hotel grounds and rooms were all well maintained. When problems were encountered, they were addressed quickly. One could always find something to eat, though it wasn't always hot when it was a hot dish nor cold when it was a cold dish. Flies and cats and birds were a problem in the open-air restaurants, which is most of them. Staff was friendly and, in most cases, very eager to accommodate any need.

Starfish Cayo Largo: Great Time

This was our 12th time to Pelicano so that says a lot in itself. The beach is still beautiful and the Ranchon Restaurant beside it still has the great and friendly staff to take care of us. There were some issues with supply problems but nothing we haven't seen before. We go there for the tranquility, beautiful beach and friendly people. The island is supplied by boat so when there is a shortage of something just adapt and enjoy the spot. We have already booked our next trip. John & Sylvie

Good for what you pay for. J ai bien aime cet endroit pour ma premiere visite a cuba. Beau resort pour personnes aimant le naturisme et la tranquilité sans enfants. 1035$ pour 2 semaines de sejours difficile de trouver un deal de la sorte.

This was our 9th time in Cuba and 3rd time in Cayo Largo. We just want to go back! We are very happy that we waited till the spring to visit Villa Iguana. The hotel was not too busy so we dined à la carte several evenings. This is the best food we've eaten in Cuba. Thank you to their wonderful staff. They were exceptional! We booked standard room and love to hear and see the ocean all the time. It's hard to find something bad when you are in paradise... The only complain are the mo [... read more]squitoes on our last night at the Rancheon but we loved our meal so we stayed till the end! The desert were very good and the bread was homemade. Gracias!

Starfish Cayo Largo: A little piece of heaven

It has been 6 years since we have been to this resort and we forgot how relaxed it is there. The people are exceptional, beach is amazing, food is good. Although the rooms are clean, the hotel definitely needs updating and reno's. The hotel was full and There are many repeat guests and with proper improvements would only improve tourism in Cuba. We come from ND and this paradise island is one of Cuba's best secrets.

Villa Natura: I had a wonderful time , was small and friendly .

I have always admired the Cuban ways . This hotel is 10mins from the airport . The landscape is people friendly , I had a main floor room by the pool and it was large and clean . Food was tipical, always something to eat even if your fussy. I have always said there is more food at each meal then I have at my home in Muskoka. Nothing to be complaining about . I enjoyed the staff , the layout, the entertainment , Jessica is lovely . Also met a young lady named Lachi who by the way is a dance teacher to young Cuban dancers Interested is keeping the culture alive . She cleans to help her familia . The beach was incredible , you need to be a good swimmer as it can be a little rough when the wind is up. Not to far away on the island there are two more beaches , calm and most beautiful . The names are Pariscio and Serinas. There is a marine close by as well. Some shops , a restaurant, catamaran, fishing boats, and dive centre . Weekends you’ll find night time entertainment in the square . I really enjoy this small friendly island . It’s easy to go for a walk , flat , no hills, lots of room to roam from one hotel to the next . Pizza , hot dogs , fries at the bar , and a kick butt margrarita. If you like small and friendly and sandy beaches this place is a good choice . And the price is right early spring when we have all had enough of the snow !

I guess it all depends on what you expect. This was my second trip and I had no surprises. Same great and very friendly staff and cozy/convenient setup of the grounds. The only thing I did not like, was lack of umbrellas for the amount of guests at the beach. May be due to the fact that the beach was just "coming back" and they did not have a chance to make enough of them.. Generally speaking food is quite basic, but you will not be hungry and I was surprised to get shrimps, turkey and some deli [... read more]cious pork one night. Make sure to book your a-la carte. Grounds are clean and taken good care of. You can now get wireless internet at the main lobby and by the swimming pool. Due to all the above, plus some great people I met there (Paul, Amber, Greg, Vera - thank you!) - I had a blast. Will come back again (if my wife let me :)) Please do not forget to tip the staff - they are working so hard and make way less than we do here in Canada!

Villa Iguana is a clean, well organized resort, that spreads along the beaches of Cayo Largo. Stretches of white sand separates the moving colours of torqoi and deep blue waters from the long, wavering palm leaves and the green tropical foliage.
