Gran Muthu Almirante Beach Resort: amazing resort

resort was great good good plenty of it drinks good weather no rain only thing more shade at pools and they were cold need to be heated room was awesome very comfortable bed lots of hot water every day just had a great holiday

Sol Rio de Luna y Mares: Great things: customer service, cleanliness, rooms, beach/snorkeling, coffees.

Barely passable: alcohol drinks (many ingredients are missing, never seen at the resort mojitos or conchancharas, for example; “orange juice” that is used for mimosas makes them undrinkable). Beer, gin/tonic, wines were always available though. Barely passable: food. Exactly one meat type available (chicken, sometimes pork) and one fish type (mackerel). Fruits - most days papaya, sometimes banana or guava. That’s it for fruits! Never seen oranges, grapefruits, mangoes, pineapples etc. The egg [... read more] situation was good, no shortages and that is a big plus. No bacon at all though. One edible ham, the other one looking like a flavoured carton box fibers is inedible, little wieners the same, but finer carton fibers :). One time there was no bread. Side dishes: sweet potato, two types of rice always there, sometimes potato, sauteed chard/vegetables, beans. They also have a special station that makes fried rice with vegetables. Salad ingredients are mostly good: tomato, cucumber, swiss chard, lettuce, sweet peppers, onion, cabbage. Watch out sometimes for not very fresh tomatoes though. Catchup, olive oil, sweets, ice cream are always available. Waiters/waitresses are very attentive and friendly. Beach loungers guys are treating distribution of loungers like their private enterprise. It becomes annoying if you come to the beach the second time in early afternoon and they make sure there are no loungers available so they can collect tips again. They should lay off a bit. There were constant scheduled blackouts outside the resort, but the resort itself didn’t experience it except for a couple of surges that didn’t affect anything. Entertainment was mediocre except the daytime Cuban band that plays on Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays. They’re awesome! There is a new thing: they bring returning customers from all the nearby resorts to a special dinner at Plaza Pesquero (it’s not on Pesquero beach, it’s literally a plaza away from the resorts). They even had mojitos there! A couple of bands were playing, food/drinks were ok. Overall I wouldn’t go there a second time. Basically you are taken away for the whole evening and buses return to the resort closer to 10pm. I’m not sure why they do this, maybe due to a lack of entertainment options on the resorts? The returning guest dinner at the resort was just a failure. We were redirected from La Pinta beach restaurant to the snack back and there was nothing special about the dinner except the wait and the mosquitoes :) We were trying to get a paid lobster dinner but to no avail. It looks like you can buy a lobster dinner only outside the resorts now. Similarly, the situation with cigars is almost dire: SRLM shops had very limited selection of single cigars for sale, Almirante doesn’t sell cigars at all(!) and the specialized cigar shop next to Almirante had a couple of types only. Clientele: about 30% Germans, 30% Quebecois, 20% Cubans, 10% Ontarians, 10% Canadian Eastern Europeans. Overall I would still recommend this resort if you can handle limited and repetitive food/drinks.

Playa Pesquero: Fantastic Resort!!!!!

We have been to this resort at least 8 times, from the moment you arrive at this hotel the service is excellent the staff are beyond helpful. The beach is stunning . No problems with black outs food or drinks shortages we had everything we needed what a pleasant stay. Janet at trip central is amazing to deal with could not be more helpful .

Brisas Guardalavaca: love it

I had a fantastic stay! The room was spotless, the staff were incredibly friendly, and the spa services. We loved everything!; I highly recommend for its cozy rooms, friendly staff, serene atmosphere and customer service. A big thumbs up!

Playa Costa Verde: Not great

The grounds were kept up. But the rooms were gross. Dirty floors. Bugs under the bed, bath room window didn’t close letting in mosquitos , geekos and cockroaches. Had a very long week with hardly any sleep. Was very happy to go home. I won’t return to that resort EVER!

Paradisus Rio De Oro: Another Amazing Trip to PRDO

This was our 7th time to Paradisus Rio De Oro and, as usual, it was amazing. What sets this resort apart from most in Cuba is the fact it is an adult only, quiet resort with phenomenal staff. Very friendly and helpful. They treat you like family here. Staff like Yamlet (Jami) make you feel like you are part of the resort. The resort was highly unoccupied during our stay. I was happy as you never had to wait for anything. At times it felt like the resort was just for you, but I felt bad for the s [... read more]taff. There is a "Royal" section to the resort but we have never stayed there. Many people who do stay in that section generally come to the main section to eat and play as they find it VERY quiet there. We stayed in a Junior Suite. Sure, the rooms are a bit outdated but they are spacious and kept very clean. The bathrooms in this section have all been updated over the last 4-5 years. There is a safe, small bar fridge that is stocked daily, and we had a king size bed that was very comfortable. The grounds are kept immaculate here and everything is sufficiently lighted at night. Because occupancy was so low, a couple of the a la carte restaurants were closed for a few days but there was sufficient food and a good variety at the main buffet, and it is good! If you go hungry here, you are far too picky. No, the food is not like you would get in Jamaica, Mexico, Turks, etc but it is good. We didn't notice any food shortages and for those concerned about power outages ... there were none. PRDO is absolutely one of our favorite places to stay in the Caribbean and we cannot wait to go back next year!

Sanctuary at Grand Memories Holguin: A great resort

Hotel was spotless.. staff good.. rooms spacious and beautiful.. ground beautiful, beach was nice very natural and food for cuba was OK.. lots of a la Cartes, butler service was an added worth while touch that we never had before.. thry went above for our anniversary, decorating room and they had a bottle of wine in our room and had booked us a special dinner for that nite. Iberostar Coral Holguin: Third visit to Iberostar Coral Holquin

As a solo traveler this resort is a home away from home. The resort is beautiful, clean, comfortable and important to me, safe and welcoming. The staff are kind, caring and welcome you as family, you are family. There are fun events to attend, great excursions and activities at the pool. Speaking of the pool...it is the best, add in Carlos and there is nothing better. The butler staff would put the finest in the world to shame. I will go back every chance I get!!!!!

Sanctuary at Grand Memories Holguin: Santuary at Grand Memories

Will this us our third time spending our vacation at the Santuary . Our first trip was in 2023 and we just loved this resort! From the lobby of this resort to the restaurants , santuary bar. Playa Pesquero: Relaxing and comfortable

The hotel is beautiful, clean and well maintained. the staff are attentive to details and ready for any request. The food could be better for a 4 and half stars. The morning and evening piano music adds a classy touch to the comfortable atmosphere.

Playa Costa Verde: Wonderful Holiday

The resort is clean all over and all washrooms are well kept, including the one on the beach.' We had plenty of assorted food, in the buffet and snack bar.We always found something different each night. Can`t praise the staff enough, they are wonderful.! Playa Costa Verde: Grounds are beautiful.

The resort is lush and appealing. The groundskeepers do a wonderful job. Our room was quite comfortable and nice, everything worked as it should and the maid service was great. The beach area itself had lots of seating but quite narrow. Quite sandy and comfortable to walk on. The ‘wading’ area however is a different story. It is essentially coral covered with sand and hard on the feet. The pool is a large, free flowing shape that is really quite appealing with lots of seating available. It ha [... read more]s a convenient swim up bar and the bartender there , Jesus, is a great guy. Unfortunately the entertainment staff like to turn the volume up to 11 and pump out Cuban disco all day. I, along with several other guests actually went over and tuned it down (or off!) on several occasions. I’m sure we all would have enjoyed ourselves more if the volume was much lower and not blasting all day. We only tried two of the a la carte restaurants, the Italian and the Japanese. The Italian was good and the Japanese was sensational. I strongly recommend that if you do go to Playa Costa Verde you book the Japanese restaurant. The meals in the buffet were limited (it’s Cuba after all) but you won’t go hungry. For the first three days there was no bread or bread products (rolls, etc) available. The check in was painless, the staff were all quite friendly and for the price it was a reasonable deal.

Brisas Guardalavaca: Beautiful Resort

This is our 5th time staying at this resort. We usually stay in the villas but this time we decided to stay in the hotel section. We were pleasantly surprised. Rooms were spacious. Nice water view with balcony. Keep in mind this resort celebrated 30 years and some things need to be fixed but over all it was nice. Now for the people that say that the hotel section is noisy sure during the day there is lots of things going on. Music, activities. At night usually by 11 o’clockit is quiet. If you pr [... read more]efer tranquility maybe stay in the villa section. Now for the food , let me remind you that you are in Cuba buuttt you will not go hungry. They had eggs, omelettes, meat, fruits etc.Supper there was always chicken, lamb, pork. Pasta and stir fry, deserts and chocolate ice cream. At the snack bar pizza, sandwiches and hamburgers. They had plenty of red and white wine, cola , juice and alcohol. Overall it was great. Yes we would go again because the staff is amazing and they work really hard to make you feel welcome and appreciated.

Gran Muthu Almirante Beach Resort: The Best that Cuba can offer!!!

Second time for us in last 2 years and we love everything about it! From the beaches, sand, to restaurants and rooms. Just the best stay for R&R. Love the entertainment as well. You have to meet Danilo who does the stretching and dance classes on the beach and I have to say he is such a dear soul that motivates everyone to get up and move

Playa Pesquero: Beautiful resort

We enjoyed very much our stay. The beach is magnificent, turquoise waters, soft sand, plenty of shade. The swimming pools from very shallow to decent depth. We had upgraded to Luxury and it was totally worth it: we had a gorgeous swimming pool just for our section, right beside the entertainment at the big pool. Food was good, we had pancakes, eggs with vegetables, mussels, fish, amazing coffee. The staff was excellent: they always had a smile and were very efficient. The music at the swimming pool was very good and not too loud and at the Luxury section we had our bartender who brought us drinks and was very efficient. We didn't see the time go by and one week was too short. We are going to return and bring more friends! Thank you to all the amazing and warm people!

Paradisus Rio De Oro: A hidden gem

I recently came back from one week vocation in Holguín Cuba at Paradisus Rio di Oro. By far this was the best resort in Cuba not only for the beautiful surroundings and the beach but especially for the excellent service and the amazing people who made every single moment memorable. Thank you for making this trip unique and unforgettable. I can’t thank you enough and looking forward to come back soon.

this resort overall nice,,,,,service can be poor,,,,,,food sucks same everyday,,,cold,,,no hot water in some rooms,,,,no AC,,,,repotred no one came,,main lobby far away,,,,,24hr. bar hit miss for food,,,,when he felt like cooking it,,,gave you awful looks....no pop,,,,no vodka,,,sparkling water for mix,,,,,still a beautiful spot,,,,just got to bring your own food---snacks it is cuba,,,,
