Hotel Sevilla: Just OK

We spent March 29 and 30th 2017 at this hotel. The room was clean, The bed was comfortable, breakfast was great. This hotel is centrally located. Did not discover the pool bar until we were checking out but had to kill a couple hours and it was beautiful in my opinion much better than the main lobby bar

Hotel Sevilla: Not impressed

We started out our vacation with a two day stay at the Sevilla, which was recommended by a travel agent that we actually didn't book with (now I know why). The hotel needs a lot of work, the rooms are nothing special, in fact quite the opposite. Dimly lit rooms, uncomfortable beds, fridge didn't work, small bugs on the bathroom floor which resembled tiny ants, and the elevators were constantly broke down. Overall staying in Havana is a money grab. You need to be very careful and remember there's people are good cons. They will try shuffling you into shotti bars to overcharge you for drinks and cigars that you have no intention of buying or crappy little eateries with old men serenading you, and everyone is looking for a tip. If you make eye contact with someone they think you should tip them (or so it seems). Finished off our vacation with a stay at the 5 star Iberostar Varadero. Also not impressed considering the cost and the service, not to mention the crap entertainment. Will not return. Mexico or Jamaica bound again.

Villa Bacuranao: Good Value

This was a smaller older hotel but very clean and they were constantly working on the grounds. Pool area was great with very comfortable loungers and there were always some available. Snack bar had a decent menu. Breakfast was good but would advise bring your own pepper and some margarine or butter if you want as did not see that at all. Said beach front but no sand area connected to the hotel. However the public beach was just 1/4 of a block walk and very nice. Easy access to get back and f [... read more]orth from Havana. Was very safe and would even stay again at this resort by myself.

Hotel Atlantico: Hotel Atlantico - Habana

It's the fifth time at this place. Main feature is location, location, location and reliable shuttle - bus to the city. The best of the area hotels ( Arenal - Tropicaca ). Very good for Staff attention, beach, pool and resting. Food and facilities better than average. Not prepared to fit old seniors or with disabilities.

Hotel Deauville: Good value, great location

Hotel was what we expected for the price - knew was not 4 or 5 star so no surprises or disappointments. The location was superb, could walk to Old Havana, many restaurants, bars. We were able to change our room so could have a balcony which was more important than the updated bathroom on the upper floor. We were on the 10th floor overlooking an amazing view of the Malecon and fascinating rooftops. Staff was friendly and helpful. We had a great holiday.

Saint John's Vedado: Extreme Value for Money

The hotel is in the very heart of Vedado. Most significant tourist sites are easily walkable. There is an excellent restaurant up the street turn left and on the corner of the next block called The Toke. Behind The Toke, maybe 60 feet back is a Cuban takeout where you can have a delicious pizza and crème Brûlée served in an empty recycled beer can for 25 cents. There are bank machines on the street to the left half a block back or three blocks back to get currency conversion just past the i [... read more]ce cream parlor. There is a small deep pool at the top of the hotel but a really good pool at Hotel Vedado which you have access to. The property is safe and secure. Elevators can be a pain because they are not always available 24/7, say 23/7. Staff have little spoken English. You can buy computer cards. 192.168.187.186 is the sign off web. WiFi is not available at Hotel St. John so you have to walk a few feet to the Hotel Vedado, sister hotel, where cards are sold at the front desk. You can buy water directly across the street. If there is something wrong with your room? Tell the front desk and it will be quickly fixed. Cuba is Cuba. If you are expecting the Four Seasons (downscaled) stay at the Nacionale or Hotel Capri. and pay three times as much. The area is very secure with Police everywhere. The Police will never ever bother a tourist. This is a very honest review in terms of value for money. A three star hotel in North America it is not.

Marazul Hotel: Basic with great staff

This is a two star all inclusive so it's not for everyone. My son and I have been staying here for 8 years. The staff are great, beach nice, food basic. Close to Havana for exploring that amazing city.

Hotel Sevilla: Great location

This hotel was in a perfect location to see old Havana, next to Revolution Museum. We thought it was a nice hotel except for a little ant infestation in our kids bathroom on top of their sink. They did not offer to do any reimbursements but they did come up and spray. We stayed here 3 nights. I would probably stay somewhere else next time. But would still consider because of the location staying again.

Hotel Atlantico: Never go there again no recommended

Room okay, no hot water at times, food same for almost all meals, not much flavor, tablecloths had mold on them, not impressed, very little Engl7sh spoken by hotel employees, unable to get much information unless spoke to other Canadians. Had to get coffee from bar after breakfast and put in small plastic glasses, stupidest thing ever. Drinks in small plastic glasses and unless asked for good rum, was served crap. Came across two women who worked in the bar quite disrespectable. One excellent [... read more] would let me have cup and saucer for coffee to take out to seating area in hall. Chairs in bedrooms horrible, no cushioning left in cushions. Outside bar metal lattice type chairs, no cushions. All beach chairs put out were cracked. Not a hotel l would reccommend, more of a 1/2 to 1 1/2 star hotel. Maid for room was pleasant and good but mold on bathroom tile and no plug so one could take a bath if preferred. The service to and from hotel good except taxi driver could not speak English. They had a school band from M8ntreal and Toronto come and play for one hour each on differen5 evenings, they were excellent.

Hotel Roc Presidente: Very Good Hotel

The room was great. We were able to shut off the air conditioner and open the windows. The bath towels may be at a premium because the laundry has to be completed before everyone gets towels. Breakfast was an OK buffet style. Do not eat dinner at the hotel.

Melia Cohiba: Sadly in need of TLC

The Melia Cohiba is an example of fine modern architecture in Havana. This glass and stone structure was beautifully designed and constructed. Sadly, the building is not maintained to its original beauty. The smog of Havana is evident on the blackened stonework all around the building. Exterior steel in the pool area is in dire need of painting. The pool area, also beautiful in design, is detracted by the lounges that are uncomfortable and in need of of relacement as well as the view  [... read more]of 2 adjacent buildings both crumbling and ugly. I found most of the staff to be very good, with two exceptions. The concierges were excellent and the doormen were inept. That said, 4 stars to this hotel

Hotel Caribbean: Many improvements

I like this place. My wife and I have stayed here a few times and appreciate the central location. This time we had a recently renovated room on the fifth floor with a large window looking out on the Prado that allowed me watch Habana come to life in the morning. Improvements include a flat screen TV , bathroom with more shelf space and lots of warm enough water, an almost silent air conditioner and very comfy beds. Our camereras Barbarita and Neri kept our room in immaculate condition. The bre [... read more]akfast was sufficient with lots of fruit, toast and eggs and the wait staff were very congenial, same with the front desk and security. This is a small hotel and that seems to make it more interactive which allowed us to improve our Spanish. We will be returning autumn.

Marazul Hotel: Tropicoco

Good resort had a good visit Food was not to good, but plenty of it. Too much chicken and pork Staff very friendly and helpful Beach nice and close. Weather was good throughout 115 open bar was always open for coffee and beer Too many cats and dogs barking at night~~!!

Comodoro: Disappointed

We did not get the bungalow that we reserved and paid for (they were sold out). We ended up in the main building in a room where the TV didn't work, it had two single beds in rough shape, the toilet worked sometimes, the bathroom counter was cracked and the room badly needed refurbishing. The grounds were being worked on and we were ejected from the courtyard because there were workers. There's no pool and the ocean access was unuseable. Not recommended. Villa Bacuranao: Great Value! Perfectly Comfortable, Safe and Easy!

Great Location, 13km to Havana and close to the small vibrant town of Wanabo. Some rooms are fantastic and some rooms are less desirable (noisier or less lovely views) but all rooms were clean and safe with functioning locks, opening/closing windows, and clean comfortable beds ;) Many rooms had fridges and we had hot water available every day! Staff was polite and helpful but sometimes overwhelmed. Pool area offered decent snacks and drinks and kept the music at reasonable levels. Breakfast was  [... read more]acceptable with omelettes and fruit available. Other Buffet meals were not as good and I wouldn't recommend going all inclusive with this resort. There are restaurants close by that offer better meals. There is a small store by the beach area that offers cheaper beer/rum and water. We hauled water from Havana for two days before discovering the store! Haha! Bus A40 takes you between Wanabo/The Resort/Havana for .25CUC and is safe and easy. Bus T3 stops at reception between 11am and 6pm and will take bicycles, tourists, special needs passengers for 5CUC with return included. The A40 could be very crowded and things like strollers/bikes/Wheelchairs would be really challenging on that bus. This was a great resort for those who would like to sight-see and venture out for meals. It would be a little dull if one was to stay put at the resort but I'm not a seeker of relaxation. Marazul Hotel: Friendly

Staff and waiters friendly . Some are extra nice . Food is okay and good enough for me but not a 4 or 5 star quality. Good place if alone because lots of travelers are single and easy to make friends,Easy bus to Havana where the city is alive and friendly and the old cars are wonderful to watch.

Marazul Hotel: It's Fine-You Get What You Pay For

If you keep in mind what you paid for your stay at Tropicoco, it is great. I travel as a single male with low expectations. I need a clean set of sheets and towels and I am happy. And the Trop delivered this-and more. The meals were decent: standard bulk food of rice, pasta, potatoes etc. The staff were friendly and courteous, especially if you were to them. There were sometimes difficulties with power outages, elevators not working, limited availabilty of certain beverages etc. This is Cuba. [... read more]..it's kind of to be expected. All of this said...the location in great, as there is a good beach right across the street. And the free daily shuttle into Havana is very convenient. As is the proximity of the city itself. Bottom line: if you just want a decent place to hang your hat while you enjoy adventures in Cuba, Tropicoco is for you. If you are a couple on a romantic get away, or have high standards of hotel stays, are a picky eater etc. it may not be. I personally enjoyed it and would/will return.

Blau Arenal Habana Beach: Simple Resort

Ground , pool and access to the beach was very nice, The food is very simple and not a lot of salads and fruit..fish and pasta was ok..not much after that..breakfast was good....(nothing great ) Rooms are a good size, AC worked ok, no heat... Little to no activities or nightly shows, music around pool very loud all day and up to about midnight... Shuttle to Havana is free, but it was booked even before we arrived.. Bus stop is about a 20 minute walk up the highway.. A lot cabs in Cuba, Hav [... read more]ana, $25 each way.. Lot of good history in Havana and was well worth the visit..next time We would stay in Havana and bus it to a beach... Alinclusive resort but you have to pay $25 to fill your bar fridge ??? They wash the room floors daily, sheets never, towels never.... This could be a good little resort, I would rate it 2 star....

Hotel Plaza: Stately Hotel-great location

Central Grand Hotel in its day, as all hotels are in Havana. The lobby is nice and the rooms are a good size, however very old and not updated since it was built in the early part of 1900's.Very clean, but old lumpy bed, linoleum stained and cracked. Staff both maids and lobby staff were amazing and very helpful. Located beside central park and close to most tourist monuments and buildings.

Hotel Atlantico: Atlantico hotel

I've been to the Atlantico maybe 12 times. Nothing much changed except this time there was no beach, just rocks. Disappointing. Food is terrible still. They serve the same buffet for Lunch and Supper. Staff are very nice. Weather was beautiful. Room ok. The price was right
