Would not return!

Grounds are nice, room okay, although we paid extra for ocean view, had to stand firm at check in as they did not want to give us what we paid for. The clerk did give us ocean view, but with two beds, which is not ideal for married couple. We took it as he said that was the only room he had, but we knew that was not true. I would not go back for several reasons, the food was terrible, the service "so so", in a week we did not have sheets changed on bed, no fresh towels one day, bar fridge not st [... read more]ocked daily with water, public washrooms disgusting. Lots of bugs and the hotel sends the truck out to spray while people are walking to the buffet and resort is busy with people all around. Had to cover your nose and mouth while the truck went by the pathway. Terrible food and lots of people fell ill. Beach nice but weather sucked...cant blame hotel for that but we only had 2 days of sunshine. It all added up to this, would not go back to Cuba or that hotel.You know the clothes that you bring to help out..well if you see them in the gift shop, you really should think twice about bringing things they turn around and sell. Tip money only.

Amazing beach!!

We went to this place with so so expectation. First day is a bit disapoointing as we have to change room due to issue with door, food in the first day is not the best (cold food etc) but as the day goes on we learned that its just best to get seafood from the grill and its been great as the day goes on. Because of the excellent beach and great weather that week (except for 1 rainy day) all in all its been a great week with my family in one of the best beach!

Love Cuba

My third trip, my brothers first. Disappointed because he didn't see the real Cuba like I did in Hogain. Resort was like a movie set built for tourists. We got sick while there. Disappointed to hear Sunwing new about sickness and still offered trips. The people are wonderful. Food and service good. People great. Would recommend hotel but also excursions to see the real world. (After possibility of sickness cleared up)

Nice Resort

The hotel was nice, rooms were nice, clean and spacious, phones did not work so could not call for shuttles or room service if wanted. Weather was great and beach was beautiful. Grounds were kept up and pools were nice and clean. Staff were really nice and friendly. Toilets in public areas left a bit to be desired as there were no seats on some of them. Food was ok, not the best but was ok. Entertainment was not that great. Also sport bar and grill right by our room was closed during our stay so [... read more] had a 20 minute walk to get something to eat. Im sure it would have been more enjoyable if everything was open and everything working. I would probably try this hotel again once more just to see if things had improved because it was a nice spot.

Ok if you get a low price

This is a good place to go to but only if you get a really good price. The beach is sensational and the pools are nice. For everything else it's average. Overall, the resort is understaff so it affects the service. The food is just ok and the variety at the buffet is poor. A lot of the times, the activities that are sceduled at the beach or at the pool dont even take place (and animators dont even show up to let you know...) The rooms are outdated but clean.

Great resort with a little improvement

Memories has so much potential to be a great resort. The rooms, common areas, pools and beach were all very clean and the staff are very friendly and helpful but I found that it could use some overall management improvements. We seemed to have to wait for every meal as they were never open on time. This meant that everyone would barge in at the same time and be rushing around for food and often, there would not be any of what you wanted by the time you got to it. It seems that there were five songs on repeat the whole week I was there. Overall, I would rate this a 3 star by regular standards but definitely a 4 star by Cuban standards.

Amazing Beach!!

The beach is beyond amazing -- the sand is like talcum powder. Each time we experienced challenges with the resort, we reminded ourselves of how fortunate we were to have such a fabulous beach. The grounds are well-kept. The public washrooms are not great - smelly; some have toilet seats missing and/or no paper towels. Accommodations are dated and some are in poor repair -- however, the cleaning staff were awesome, as the rooms were always clean. The food - our family of 8 thought the food was o [... read more]k; better than expected given what friends and family had warned. The way the food is prepared and stored did result in 4 of our family members to have tummy issues. Medication to relieve the diarrhea was required when we returned home. This can be expected when travelling to all-inclusives. Service was hit and miss -- the staff in the buffets were excellent; staff at the front desk and some bars were dismissive. All in all, we had an amazing time and for our adult children who had never been to an all-inclusive, they didn't have nearly the harsh critique as my hubby and I do.

Great family vacation spot

it was clean and everyone had smile on their face all the time. felt good to be there. food was good. there was something for everyone. rooms were cleaned every day. nightly entertainment theater was great. will go back forsure.

Great resort

Well maintained grounds pool public washrooms hotel staff attentive and friendly. any small issues we had which were few were rectified immediately. Nightly shows need work. We would most definitely return

Amazing beach!

The beach was breathtaking!.The taichi was very god.Entertainment was.excelllent!The rooms were impressive.Rooms were very clean!.Staff was helpful.The hobbycats rides were good quality fun time!.Chairs were plenty at the beach.Hotel was extremely clean!Cooks were very polite and talented.Waiters were so kind and eager to serve us promptly.

Great time, great people, great resort.

This is the second time at Memories Paraiso Azul resort. I had a great time, the beach was unreal. Everyone that worked at the resort were amazing could not have asked for anything more. The excursions were fun. We'll be going back again

Good time!

The resort in itself is lovely....typical of all the down south hotels and Cuban style. ROOMS: The mattress was awful. I had to put a thick blanket under the sheet to give me a little fluff under my hip. The rooms were clean and simple. Umbrella and iron in room. I usually bring a couple of dryer sheets just to remove any smells the room may have. FOOD: we always found something to eat, lots of cold salads. We made sure we had a bog breakfast. The A la cartes were a little bit better but service was SOOOOO SLOW, and they kept saying that they were busy and this was their OFF SEASON - we were there Oct 23-Nov 1, 9 days! BEACH: THE MOST BEAUTIFUL BEACH I HAVE EVER SEEN!!! Water was clear and shades of blue, sands were white and soft. Get the blue chairs on the beach, they're softer than the plastic white ones, OUCH!! Armando at the bar closer to the Diamond club (but not the Diamond Club bar) was AMAZING!!! We tipped him everyday we were there and he kept bringing us drinks throughout the day and played our music on the speakers! Thanks ARMANDO!!! ENTERTAINMENT: MJ show was great. We were there over Halloween and a Scary Haunted show was scheduled, but last minute it was changed and we watched some Romantic show, BOOOOO! Typical, it was something to do after dinner and before going to the disco. DISCO: There is one disco that is about a 5minute walk from the hotel through the resort pass to the market. 5 pesos to get in and it includes 2 drinks. We were there about 5 or 6 of the 9 nights just to do something. Made friends with the entertainment staff from Memories and StarFish so we were well entertained. They played all our requests and we had a good time, though it got quite tiring by the 5th time we went. WEATHER: We lucked out BIG TIME!! It was showing clouds and some scattered showers before we left but the weather network kept changing.....we had 9 FULL DAYS OF SUN!!! NO RAIN!!! It was AMAZING and made up for all the poor food, and mattress issues I had. I wouldn't go back but I had a good time.

Nice place but run down

Place was pretty run down definitely needs a major face lift only the one side was open would like to have been over on the Azul side. Pool was super clean, the ocean was pristine, the food was great the service was exceptional .the downfall side the women's Pool bathroom was little to be desired never any toilet tissue or hand tissue NEVER EVERYDAY. Did not have any Pool Towels for days. Not sure what Diamond Club included did not get anything special and they seemed to never have any Premium d [... read more]rinks. Price was the factor for a quick getaway in the sun and relaxation.

Relaxed setting.

The room was dated buy clean, staff were friendly and helpful, food was repetitious and of average quality but we never left hungry. The Mediterranean restaurant was awesome. The beach was absolutely beautiful. Would recommend this resort if looking for average accommodations at low prices. Had a relaxing week.

Second time to this resort,,,,, enjoyed it greatly,,, you don't go to Cuba for the food,, you go for the people,, beach,, and let me tell you there is no other beach that can compare ,,, been to Cuba , Mexico , Dominican ,,, and will go to memories again ,,, so don't hesitate go go go

Great for the money

best foods ive had in ten trips to cuba ,id go back there again .friendly staff even late at night when ppl are being dumb.clean rooms, well looked after grounds .great beach ,good entertainment lots of wild life if you look for it .

Great beach

Beautiful beach, one of the best I've seen so far ;) food average for Cuba, people very friendly;) front desk not so helpful when call down to ask a question they would not answer the phone. Had to ask daily to have the fridge restocked. The pool party with the bubbles was great fun. And the market just up the walkway was great.

Nice beach

The resort was pretty clean but the food not so good rooms were average but have to say they didn't change our coffee cups all week and coffee machine not working in my or my sisters room washrooms on resort had toilet paper 10 percent of the time and ask for more they said sorry none left

Resort was beautiful

The grounds were lovely. The rooms were nice & maintained. Dining was nice too, lots to choose from. Staff were wonderful, very helpful & friendly. The only thing I really was disappointed in was the public washrooms, many times there was no toilet paper.

Lovelier the second time around!!!

We just came back from this resort on Oct 10, 2015 for a week of fun filled memories... We came back to this resort after 5 years and was completely satisfied with the improvements of the services and entertainments. Food was great for us. No complained at all. So many choices if you are a kinda picky person. We enjoyed seafood specially the grilled fish at the restaurant closed to the beach. We also enjoyed Panini sandwiches station by the beach. We booked 4 a-la-carte's dinner to minimized the [... read more] portion of food we eat everyday...LOL! We arrived on a Sat morning and was pleasantly happy to see the atmosphere of the lobby. It's very clean and well-kept. It was a quick check-in. Very organized as they already prepared the envelopes with wrist bands and room passes for every guest. It was the quickest check-in we ever had in vacationing to South. We noticed that weekends are the best entertainments at night. We loved the fact that there's so much to see and watch before and after the nightly shows... There's band playing outdoor and it was just across the lobby. So even if you're lounging at the lobby, you will still hear the music playing and see people dancing. The weather was amazing. Sunshine for seven days. It did rained for two days, but only at night and didn't last for long. No jelly fish this time of the year compared to when we we're in Cuba this June. There's always something going on at the beach. Lively music, games, dancing, yoga and aqua fit classes. We we're at the adult section of the resort and enjoyed peacefulness of our room on the second floor with partly garden and ocean view. I emailed the resort ahead of time and was happy to be accomodated. I find tipping and giving little items as a gift makes them more nicer and provides you with their best services....Not that we're saying it's a must to tip, but we felt the workers in the resort deserved a little reward in returned for their hard work.
