A relaxing week

This is our third time at the resort. The beach has been greatly improved since our first visit 6 years ago. What used to be the downside of the hotel is now it’s best attraction. The food was typical Cuban fare. The waitstaff were attentive at the buffet, snack bar and the creole a la cart. Our family booked two rooms as we are a family of five with small children. We only used one room as the bathroom in one of the rooms was not working properly. The manager called us after our third n [... read more]ight to offer us an upgrade as they noticed we were only using one room. We were moved to building 2 on the ground floor just steps away from the beach and diamond beach bar. The family suit upgrade was an unexpected and very thoughtful gesture on the part of the hotel. The shows were more guest participation and we noticed many shows we were used to were missing. Regardless the Michael Jackson show was still on and still really good. The guest participation shows were pretty funny and got people engaged. Overall we had a great time and would go back a fourth time if we are able to get the same family suit again. We’ve been spoiled.

Top best beach in Caribbean

Our room was a Junior Suite in building six. For the most part good and comfortable with a nice garden view. PROS: Amazing beach. White soft sand with a large number of loungers and shades. Buffet was good with four grilling stations, fresh squeezed juice for breakfast. We went to the three reservation restaurants and enjoyed the Mediterranean one the best. Gardens are beautiful and are well maintained and were in bloom. Staff for the most part were happy smiling and friendly (and very hard work [... read more]ing). Pools were excellent. Bars were good but very busy. Go to the Route 66 bar after 4 pm off the main lobby. Air conditioned and not very busy. Best drinks. Entertainers and Pool activities were fun. CONS: the "bathroom" which depending on the time of day had great to no water pressure shower. Suggestion: Time your showers to off peak times or risk getting a head of shampoo with no water. "Mosquitoes" were extremely bad. Bring bug spray otherwise they WILL ruin your vacation. The spray was out in the store for the duration. Especially bad in the morning and at dusk, and to our surprise at the airport where we were swarmed in the evening. They even followed us on the plane. Nasty. The other irritant some of our fellow "guests". Rude, loud, miserable and privileged. No idea where they came from. Other Canadian travelers voiced this opinion. Worst fellow travelers I have ever met. Not the resorts fault but maybe they can add in a mandatory manners lesson with their Salsa lessons. OF NOTE, the Hola Sun representative at the hotel was effectively useless. He started the orientation 3 times with various groups as he did not identify himself and started early. He was rushed and glazed over everything. We missed out on various activities (eg. local shopping) and 1/2 hour sailing, paddleboats, kayaks because he didn't bother to mention them. The Sunwing and Air Canada reps wore uniforms and were much more professional with their clients.

Disappointed

Let me start off by saying the grounds, beach and pool were fantastic. However, accommodations, food and staff fell short. 1 of 3 beds missing bedding our entire stay along with base of bed being torn to shreds. Shower ran out of water while my wife had shampoo in hair. Buffet was extremely hot, overrun by flys and food safety sub par. Myself and Daughter still recovering from stomach issues. Air Canada rep warned us of “open” month for locals who tend to overrun buffet and take large quanti [... read more]ties of food to go... advised to go early or have little to eat. 85% of staff seemed annoyed to serve customers. (Few were fantastic) Entertainment staff seemed to be the most friendly and outgoing. Overall not experience we expected after hearing many great things about resort. We will not be returning to this resort.

Good place for vacation

We had amazing time. Staff is very friendly. Food quality in the Buffet is good. all specialized restaurant has huge opportunity for improvement. Most of the menu items were not available. we end up skipping them and going back to Buffet. Snack bar periodically run out of menu items on daily basis but will feed us something then nothing. it would be nice to have a buffet place on beach. memories in Varadero has such arrangement and was awesome. There is huge swamp on one side of the resort and [... read more] there was huge problem with excessive mosquitoes which perhaps were coming from the swamp.

Go for the beach and staff

Overall this place is great. Food is not great, but they have some good food. Pork 🤤. Beach is fantastic and staff is happy to help always. Rooms are average at best. Always staff working to clean up in the mornings. I will be going back again next summer. Friend I went with would also recommend this resort. Very close to the airport also.

Would never go back

Where do I begin, The resort ran out of Ice, Cups and food. The A La Cart restaurants were impossible to get into , we had to argue for over an hour to get reservations and when we did they split our group of 6 to 2 tables of 4 and 2. When we arrived for our reservation in 1 of the A La Cart Restaurants and asked if the 2 tables could be close together the staff was very rude. 2 if the restaurants the air conditioning was not working it was barely bearable. My son is Type one Diabetic and I had to ask every day to have water in the room. We were 3 in our room and would only leave 2 small bottles of water. The misquotes were so horrible we could not stay outside at night at all. Tried to sit out to have a drink while waiting for our diner reservation at 8:30 PM and could not sit out side to wait. When I asked to speak to the Manager over the issues with the reservations waited for 30 mins and was given the reservations as I mentioned above for 2 table split up. The manager never spoke to me. The menus were provided had many items on that that we were told they did not have. The buffet ran out of food and you could clearly see preferential treatment for different colored bracelets. For some reason the Green Bracelets had preferred service in all aspects of the resort. This was our first trip to Cuba and after this will be our last.

Fabulous beach

Best beach I have ever been to and I have been to many. Friendly staff, clean rooms and fabulous weather. You can't ask for more. Often people complain about the food but if they want gourmet Cuba is not for them. You can have gourmet at home. We never went hungry and if you are not too finicky you will always find something to your taste. If you go for the beach, all the cuban beaches are paradise. You eill never be disappointed.

Second Stay

We traveled in a group of seven people (incl 2 seniors and 2 kids) the week of July 29th. The overall experience was good. We kind of knew what to expect of the resort as this was our second stay (1st in April of 2018)... this time however, there were few hiccups. The bad: - no beach towels in the room - got 3 out of 4 after the third request (if you run into any issues, go straight to the front desk, phone requests get ignored). - cockroach in a bathroom in one of our rooms welcomed us on th [... read more]e first day. Got rid of it by ourselves, but left light on 24/7 in a bathroom as apparently they like to come out when it's dark. - no hot or even warm water for the first two days, after that no problem whatsoever. - big problem with ants! in the bathroom and room. Our cleaning lady had to put a blanket one day on the floor and then back on the bed as we had plenty of then in the blanket and bed. Once again, had to take care of things by ourselves. - in general staff in the resort is very friendly and accommodating. Unfortunately, I can not say same about our cleaning lady or the staff at the front desk. Someone put them on the job as a punishment, can't think of any other explanation. - flies in the buffet! not sure if there is anything that could be done about it though...? - no flour (bread, pancakes, pizza) on the resort for 4 out of 7 days of our stay. Not exactly a resort issue I guess, thought I would mention as this might be an issue for some. The GOOD: - BEACH! This beach is everything we travel to Cuba for. 3rd time to Cayo Coco, 2nd in this resort. Would go back again just for the beach :) - very good night entertainment / shows. Can't say much about pool staff as we spend minimum time there and only in the evening. - pool was clean - no problem with AC in our rooms - food and drinks were fine - interestingly, male waitresses were awesome, 90% of female waitresses apparently did not like their jobs. Sorry ladies. The resort definitely needs some improvement in management but overall great vacation. Solid 4*

Amazing resort

The beach was amazing. The food was very good with a lot of variety. The room service was disappointing, they did not change the sheet for 5 days. The costumer service did not care for any complain, called them three times because the tv wasn't working, and they ignored me.

Relaxing week!

The beach was the best part about this resort. The food was better than expected. The grounds were really nice. The service was lacking at times. Particularly from the front desk. At times they did not seem to do much when you had an issue with your room etc. Overall love Cuba and the people

Fantastic getaway

If you are looking for a place to relax, enjoy warm Cuban hospitality and a stunning beach, gentle waves and sea breeze, this is it. A short transfer to the resort from the airport means your holiday starts quickly after you arrive. Rooms are spacious and the AC works well, which is welcome after spending time in the brilliant Cuban sunshine. Food is adequate. You won’t go hungry but there is not a lot of variety. The shows we attended in the evening were really well done - the performers are very talented. We will be back!

Most amazing beach and water

Memories Flamenco was a great experience for our family of 6 adults. There ere some minor issues with power outages but other than that, everything was great. Food was good, rooms were clean, most of the staff were awesome and the beach and water was spectacular. Will definitely consider returning again.

Bad experience.

When we arrived to the hotel we were told that we got nice room. What we saw in this room was shocking and disgusting. The room was horrible. There was mould on the ceiling and walls. The floor was dirty and sticky. The bathroom condition was also unacceptable. There was mould on the shower curtain, dirty bath, and dirty tabs. The smell of the mold in the room was unendurable! After our complaining they transfer us to another room. It was much better but a lot of things didn`t work. The toile [... read more]t wouldn`t flush and my husband had to fix it, the plug in the bathroom beside the mirror was broken and I couldn`t use my hairdryer. We report it few times but it never got fixed. The cleanliness of this hotel is very, very poor. No drinks and water in the fridge. Got it just 2 times after complaining. Most of the waiters in the buffet is slow and sad, you have to wait for everything. Average food. We only liked the food and service in the snack bar. The beach is amazing!

Very nice resort!!!

This resort was very clean and well maintained! I found the staff very friendly and happy!! Zoe our day server at coffee bar was amazing and so nice and efficient!!! Hat’s off to Zoe keep up the good work!!And in the same breathe the evening bartenders were a little lazy sorry to say! More fixed with cell phones and chatting then serving they need a Zoe course!! All in all food was as I expected and the beach was perfect! Thank you Memories !!! I’ll be back!!

Absolutely amazing!

Very clean/beautiful grounds/rooms. Option for smoke free. Food is amazing and staff goes above and beyond. Snack bar especially favourite for food and staff. Pools are clean, big. 11/10 for this hotel. 2nd time here and would go again!

What a let down...

I stayed at Memories Flamenco Beach from May 15-22/19. Let me preface this by saying I have been to Cayo Coco many times and stayed at many hotels, so this is just a reflection on this specific hotel & not Cayo Coco in general which is absolutely amazing. Here is my review: Pros: -nice beach, good weather -room beds were comfy, water pressure/heat decent in shower -quick check-in Cons: -diamond club is a waste of money -no waiters on beach for more than 15 mins each day, rarely asked  [... read more]you if you wanted drinks (they were supposed to be there daily 10-4) -dilapidated falling apart sun beds -unaware that Diamond Club had their own bar until 2 days before end of trip -Diamond Club concierge service in the lobby was always empty – no staff -rooms never stocked properly, missing water & beer/pop daily, requested it & had to wait hours -missing toilet paper, waited 6hrs and only given 1 roll when asked for 2 (due to sickness from the food) -towel hut was never open, never enough clean towels to exchange, had to call room service multiple times to get towels -poolside bathrooms – 6 stalls, 4 out of order and 2 that didn’t lock, always smelled bad and never stocked with toilet paper -way too many cats on resort, jumped on tables while you ate -turkey vultures circling all day -buffet food was cold, very greasy, barely refilled, no variety -made people sick throughout resort, one hallway had feces on the walls due to someone not making it to their room, we were sick 5 out of 7 days & still sick when we got home -a la carte restaurants had the same issues -drinks were poorly made -spa – booked a massage, showed up and no one was there, had to ask someone to call around & find our massage people showed up late & didn’t believe we had appointments (no record of them even though we had a receipt) -transfer from bus to airport, driver did not put all bags on bus after we stood beside him and pointed our bags out to him, had to take cab back to resort to get missed luggage ($30 cuc) -bus tour guide yelled at us (unknown name) & blamed us for luggage issue, told us we were an inconvenience & cost him money to make calls to the resort (I've never been treated that poorly by staff - not sure if he was hired by Sunwing or the resort) That is my overall point form review. I would not recommend this resort. I spoke to multiple people at this resort who shared all the same feelings. Sadly, this resort needs a major upgrade and better management. Hopefully this changes in the future. I know everyone has different experiences so hopefully others there had a better time. Once again, no reflection on Cayo Coco or Cuba in general. I love Cuba and will travel there again... just to a different resort

Great resort with beautiful beaches!

The people for the most part were great. There were a few that didn’t seem happy. You could tell it was low season and therefore the staff were tired and it seemed like we were bothering them. The resort ran out of some selected items. The either ran out of certain alcohol or certain food. Didn’t seem like they cared. I would hope that whether it was high or low season that we would get the same service. But unfortunately that was not the case. I hope to go back on high season to see if it†[... read more]™s the same. The beaches were incredible and the resort overall was clean and well taken care of. This was my second time in Cuba and it was a different experience. I look forward to trying out another resort.

Super resort

We were very happy with this resort. Have been to Cayo Coco many times. This resort was the best of them all. First time I really enjoyed the food. Location to beach perfect. Very clean and well groomed grounds. Staff wonderful. Best vacation yet. 😊

Friendly resort

Good food for the most part. Did have some variety everyday. The specialty restaurant's served somewhat the same as in the buffet except smaller portions. Nice to have a 24 hour snack bar. The room we had there was no hot water. Tv didnt work. Oatio door brojen and wouldn't close all the way so bugs got in and would not lock.
