Amazing resort

Good condition, check in was fast and easy, rooms are clean and comfortable, food is great, lots of variety, the a la cartes were delicious, very nice beach and lots of beach chairs, the shows are very good and fun to watch, and the staff is very friendly and helpful, I will come back to this hotel.

Good Resort

The resort does not look as nice as the pictures show. It’s an older looking resort. The food is pretty good for Cuba, the buffet had quite a variety. I found a few things I liked and had it everyday. The snack bar next to the pool is good, you can get a burger and fries or sandwich and fries. The daily entertainment isn’t the best, I definitely preferred the live music over the dancing shows. The ocean is absolutely amazing, very clear. There are free water activities like canoeing included [... read more]. They have a gym with three treadmills, a couple of bikes, and weights section. However, I didn’t like how the gym was only open from 7am-7pm. The walk to the beach isn’t that long and there’s usually a shuttle service. The beach and pool chairs are not very comfortable. The staff were very nice, always making you feel welcome and starting conversation. Overall, for a Cuba resort I think it’s great, I would definitely come back.

Beautiful resort

The grounds were well kept. Pools were clean,(but cool). Need more public washrooms. The restaurants were clean and the a la carts were fantastic, really good food. Breakfast not so great too many sausage choices 5 at least. The omelets were good At the bars they kept running out of mint for mojitos Cuba makes the best mojitos. They need a better menu for mixed drinks. The beach was clean and when you walked into the water out to your waist you can still see your feet. Good resort but a bit far

My experience at Melia Marina was good! Travelled many times and been to lost of Melia resort all around the world and knew a little bit what to expect. Wasn't happy with my room on my first day and after speaking with the lady at the front desk she gave me a new room. Overall it's a good hotel!

Very good resort

We enjoyed this comfortable, clean, friendly resort. We didn’t enjoy all of the a la carte restaurants, food was often overlooked but we were pleased with everything else. The bar staff was very friendly and remembered who you were and what you liked. The rooms were clean and comfortable.

Nice Hotel Not Great Resort

Rooms were nice, relatively clean. Food was the worst that we have had in Cuba. We have been to Cuba many times before and have never had this bad food at a supposed 5 Star resort. There was no variety and very few choices to eat. The Ala cartes were Ok but not great. If you like entertainment at night you will be lacking as they have no stage so they have a show at floor level so only a few can see well. They ran out of liquor a few times for the drinks, once there was no mint for a Mohito, once they ran out of white wine. Also at dinner they ran out of milk for the coffee, no orange juice only mango and papaya juices for dinner. The service was very slow at the buffet restaurant, we were usually half done our meal by the time they came to offer drinks. Very little in the way of activities unless you want to learn Spanish or dance. When we were looking at the pictures when deciding to book, they had pics of bowling and pool tables, you should know that they ARE NOT part of the resort and you have to pay for use. The food was better at the pool restaurant then the buffet as they served sandwiches, pizza, hot dogs and burgers although they ran out of some items and didn't always have ketchup. If your looking for a hotel to stay at it is passable but as a resort I would not go back.

Great resort!

Food was really good for Cuba, European plan has the option of all-inclusive day passes which is nice. Staff was very nice. The promenade was very nice in the evenings. The circus show was amazing! We would certainly go back. A good choice if you don't necessarily want to just sit on the beach and drink.

Very good resort

This is an amazingly beautiful resort. Public washrooms are clean and always have toilet paper. Public areas also all very clean. Unfortunately the service is hit and miss. Although for the most part it is very good. The buffet is not desirable. Breakfast is the best. The grill at the beach is also very good; hint get the chicken. Pools are fantastic and so is the beach.

Good hotel and trip

the food and services is good. but the door is always blocked and cannot open. please fix this issue asap. teh beach is not clean. The hotel should hire someone to clean the beach. one day, the water heating machine was broken and the outside spa is very cold.

Will never return

We were disappointed in the food, the service and the level of care we received. The rooms were filthy and everything was in need of repair. Even the beach was in need of some TLC, broken cabanas, beach covered in seaweed and staff standing around chatting.

Amazing Resort

I booked the marina view room and it was spectacular the bathroom opened up into the room so you could see the ocean view from the bathtub! The service was also great, I really enjoyed my stay here. The quality of food at the restaurants was better than the buffet and delicious :)

OK resort

A little rough around the edges. Rooms were mouldy smelling. Nothing was fully clean, even in the restaurant - dirty cutlery, lipstick marks on napkins, dust on shelves etc. Pool was nice. Food was not great

Not a 5 star

This hotel is not a 5-star hotel at all. They kept running out of food. They would have a variety of options on the menu we go order 1 hour into serving breakfast or lunch they have already run out. All pork no considerations for nonpork eaters. If you are young DO NOT STAY HERE. My husband and I are mid 30's and were bored out of our minds. Nothing to do. They have an on-site disco but drinks are not included not to mention the disco is dead due to the clientele for the hotel are all over [... read more] 50 to 60 years old. My husband and I are newlyweds requested for an upgrade when we booked they did nothing special but give us a bottle of cheap champagne which they serve as with the all-inclusive package drinks.Entertainment was horrible nothing special same old thing evening dancing lessons under the lobby bar which again was always dead. Waste of money never again.

Decent Resort

The resort was visually a 5 star. However, service lacked during our visit due to a convention being there at the same time, resulting in the hotel being at capacity. Normally the service would be adequate as all employees were observed to be working very hard to keep up with the pase. There were some stains on the bedroom walls and towels but simply asking politely solved these concerns. The food was nothing to complain about and for the most part was edible. The only negative would be the 5 minute walk from the lobby. But hey! Your in Cuba! Enjoy your outdoors time! The Marina side of the resort is great to look at but not very active. We had met a couple that was staying in the apartments on the far side of the Marina and they had to walk to the resort everyday for EVERYTHING, such as food, drinks, and entertainment, and then back to the apartments when they needed something. Mind you it’s approximately a 5 - 10 minute walk which can be aggravating if you have to do it multiple times a day. One piece of advise is to avoid the apartment side of the resort. Over all this was a great vacation and we enjoyed it very much. I would not go again simply because i want to experience other resorts in other destinations.

Excellent resort

The pool area is fantastic, the lobby is excellent an place to chill out after a full day of pool/beach entertainment. The night shows were also great, a different presentation for everyone. The service was excellent , the staff seem to care about the guests' needs.

Very clean resort

All was good the resort was very clean. Most of the staff did not seem to know what was going on. We couldn't find one evening show which was disappointing. The food was horrible. Staff need to practice proper hand washing procedures. The flight home was delayed 9 hours with no explanation. Overall the trip was relaxing and it was good quality time with my daughter.

Good resort

Staffs are very nice, rooms are comfortable. Nice beach and Swimming pool... Two things you may need to be considered. 1. Public washroom ( located on the mainfloor) need to be well maintained. 2. Food aren't as good as expected... most of the time same food for lunch and dinner.... not too many varieties.

I would go again tomorrow!

We thoroughly enjoyed our stay at this resort. I have very complaints about anything. The only thing I would pass on to the hotel there is that they didn't make it clear about their policy on the beach towels. We did not know that we needed to return our beach towels to our rooms at the end of each day. We had a couple go missing on us and the hotel tried to blame us for this and initially they would not replace them. After much discussion, they eventually did, and the issue was resolved. One [... read more] other thing, do not rely on the lifeguards at the beach. He seemed more interested in selling me cigars or tours to Havana than watching the water. In fact, I think I even caught him napping! Not good, especially if you have young ones with you (which a lot of people did). Despite the warnings we got ahead of time that the food in Cuba was poor, our experience was the opposite. The food was just fine and the service in the a la carte restaurants was superb. We upgraded to "The Level" and it was well worth the extra money. It was very hot when we were there and we were glad that we were able to go up to the exclusive Level restaurant to use the wifi or play a game of cards instead of the hot and humid lobby. You could also get food and drinks there 24 hours a day. The hot dogs were amazing! The staff there were very friendly, and they managed to usually overcome the language barrier just fine. The beach was beautiful and it was such a treat to eat at the beachside restaurant and enjoy the view while eating. It was spectacular. I really would go again tomorrow.

Very Nice Resort - Great beach and Staff!!

I went on vacation alone with my 14-month old son and I cannot tell you how great, helpful and kind all of the staff were. The beach - as always at this part of the peninsula is amazing. This time around the water was very clean and calm. The hotel and room were decent. For it being fairly new I feel like more upkeep is needed to retain the 5 star rating. Another thing that was a little annoying is the lack of quicker access for someone with a stroller but all in all it was a great and relax [... read more]ing vacation. I have been to Cuba many times before and I can tell you that the food was decent - there were things that were amazing and others that were at par. The only thing that I really didn't like was the lack of clean towels available for the exchange at the pool house. Definitely would recommend this hotel to others.

Beautiful Boutique Style Resort

The Melia Marina combines tropical sophistication with a relaxed , warm atmosphere. The Marina with picture perfect yachts adds an additional pleasure to the beauty of the resort. Laze about by the pool on a lounge chair or covered cabana and enjoy participating in , or just watching the activities, listening to Cuban music, or eating and drinking at the restaurant (open 24 hours) or pool bar. Drinks are fabulous and bar tenders cater to your every whim. The YHi spa is simply amazing, and you don't want to miss it. Bring along a little extra money to take advantage of a massage, rooftop jacuzzi and pool, steam baths, sauna or facial treatments. The gym opens at 7 each morning. Enjoy the treadmill, stationary bike .weights or stair climber as you gaze at the pool. The front lobby/foyer and bar area is fabulous. Bartenders and servers are attentive, friendly and at your service. Many restaurants are available for a la carte dining (French, Italian, Seafood, Asian and Spanish). The main buffet serves meals 3 times a day and is a delight if you enjoy a variety of vegetables, pasta, pizza, salads, fish, dessert and fruit. Nightly entertainment can be found in the lobby bar beginning at 6:00 p.m. followed by a 9:30 p.m. show outdoors. This resort is best for families ( children aged 6 and up), couples and retired people. The bus ride/transfer from the hotel is approximately 50 minutes. Bring cash to change your money to convertible pesos at the lobby bank which is open daily. You can purchase wifi cards in the lobby ( 3 pesos for one hour) but connecting to the wifi can be challenging during busy hours (evenings are the most difficult to obtain connection). Excursions to Havana, Jeep Safari and other activities can be arranged at the front desk. A physician is onsite daily for medical needs. A safe and lovely escape from daily life will be felt if you choose the Melia Marina.
