Amazing resort!!

We had an amazing week with this resort. The friendly outgoing staff make you feel so welcome. They were super helpful and always greeted you with a smile. Some make you feel like family. There were some many forms of entertainment daily and nightly. The grounds are beautiful and the views are stunning. A wonderful buffet of so many foods. The choices were plenty. We loved our stay and plan on returning!!

Quaint, newer resort

This resort was fairly new so rooms were clean, fresh and well maintained. The resort itself was compact which was a major factor in our choice since my mother has mobility issues. The buffet was very repetitive and somewhat disappointing. I have been to many resorts in Cuba and the food here was by far the worst. Their process for a la carte restaurants was first come, first served so you had to line up with no guarentee to get in. You could then reserve a later time. Did not like this pr [... read more]ocess, however, the food was much better than the buffet. ( we ate our dinners in a la carte 6 of our 7 nights) The beach was a major disappointment!!! Had to walk to either side of resort to access two beaches. One side had the beach bar, the other had the beach snack bar.... Bank was under construction 2nd day into vacation and they didn't accommodate vacationers otherwise to access exchanging money. Unfortunately the workers are the ones that suffer. The workers were amazing. Friendly, helpful and extremely outgoing. Their entertainment was very good. The dancers put on great shows. Loved them! Love Veradero and will be back again. This was our first time to this particular resort and I cant see myself going back. I'd much prefer to stay a little further down the beach

Fun stay

Great atmosphere, awesome and friendly staff - overall an enjoyable stay - my family and I had a great week with my daughters wedding at the resort - also enjoyed the beach with the children. The excursions were enjoyed by all.

Cubans are looking ONLY after tips

I asked a room in a quite area and not at first level. I received a room at the first level and facing swimming pool. Second day I tipped the person and I've got a good room. Guys at the beach give sheers only for tips. I'm fed up with this.

I would not return

Here is what I wrote on Tripadvisor: Stayed November 19-22, 2018 I have been to Cuba over 10 times before and have always had an excellent time. I have never felt compelled to write a review about a resort until now. This resort is described as the 2nd newest resort in Varadero, at a 4+ rating. The decor is nice and most of the resort does appear to be new and clean. Upon check-in, we were told that we were being placed in a Privilege room but without any of the privileges (that wa [... read more]s fine since we did not pay for that upgrade… yet). We did not receive any additional information about the resort, Varadero or other. The only map of the resort was a tiny credit-card sized paper. The room itself did not provide any additional information either. Nothing on any services offered at the hotel, entertainment schedules, things to do at the beach/pool - nothing! Our room was within the main lobby and had a beautiful ocean view, directly above the infinity pool. As I mentioned before, the room was clean and modern looking. Within the mini bar fridge, only a cola and a sprite was included. When asked to have a couple beers added to the fridge, we were told this was not possible. We went to the buffet on our first morning to have breakfast. We were so disappointed with the lack of selection in food that we went straight to the lobby to upgrade to the Privilege package (which included access to better restaurants). A few examples of our disappointment of the buffet included the omelettes - the only ingredients available were ham, cheese and corn. The fresh fruit was not good. There also weren’t any condiments available for the toast. No croissants or other options for bread. The size of the lobby is quite small considering the size of the resort and was very crowded. At this point of the vacation, we decided to upgrade to the Privilege section. This upgrade included ‘perks’ like top-brand drinks in a Privilege bar, late checkout, priority to book a la carte restaurants among a few other things. Privilege service does not yet grant you any perks on the beach. Having upgraded to the Privilege section, we were expecting a slightly better level of service. That did not happen. We left the Privilege restaurant without food one day because our food took so long to get there (25+ mins). Apart from one server in the Privilege lounge (Dannys), the service was not great. We did not get served while sitting outside of the lounge, we had to go inside to find a server. It felt as though the Privilege program was so new that it wasn’t fully set up yet. There is no distinct ‘privileges’ when upgrading to this service yet. Having done some research about this resort, we knew that the beach was not going to be spectacular, however we were still disappointed. The layout of the resort is long and set upon a cliff. On either side of the cliffs, are the two beaches available at Vista Azul. We did not spend any time at the smaller beach since it was packed and had no room left any time we wanted to go. We spent a couple of days at the ‘large’ beach. The beach may appear ‘large’ in photos but the Vista Azul resort is only entitled to approximately â…“ of the beach. The remainder of the beach is empty but Azul occupants are crammed into their tiny section. The resort did include water sports which was nice. Activities included kayaks, hobie cats and a paddle boat. Although the resort is new, the beach chairs are not. The material sagged and most of them were covered in mould stains. It was difficult to find help in the morning to get the chairs set up. Another important thing to note was that there is no towel exchange service. We had to keep the same wet towels our entire stay there. The infinity pool is definitely one of the pros of this resort. It is stunning and provides a beautiful backdrop of the ocean. The only negative is that this pool is supposed to be ‘adults only’ however children were constantly swimming in this pool. That rule is definitely not enforced. The main lobby is aesthetically pleasing but there are bright lights well into the late evening. I would suggest getting a few dimmers to set a better mood. Also, the chairs on the outdoor balcony of the lobby look very cool and modern but are extremely uncomfortable. They are only about 6 inches off the floor so it is very difficult to get in and out of them. We went to one of the entertainment shows - Michael Jackson night. The show began 15 minutes late and was not very good. We did not return any other night. Fair warning to anyone staying above the theatre (building 8), the music is extremely loud and can be heard until late in the evening. No peace and quiet in those rooms. One last thing to note, when exchanging money, the resort did not have any $1 coins/bills for 3 days while we were there. This made tipping very difficult. Even paying for something like a wifi card, the staff could not provide you with any change. I know this review comes across as negative. I am only trying to paint an honest picture of my stay there. I love Cuba and will continue to go back every year. I will not return to this resort.

Beautiful resort

We stayed in one of the bungalows #1109 it was very clean and spacious. We had the privilege and the bartenders were amazing. Lala, Ruben the main bartender I forgot his name and the other young guy went far and beyond expectations. Always making sure that we were ok. The A la Carte were really good. The resort was very well kept. I would definitely recommend this resort to anyone. Pleasant surprise

I was sceptical on booking a Cuba trip as I had heard that the food and drinks were not the best. I was pleasantly surprised at the quality of both the food selection and quality as well as the beverage selection. The staff was great and very friendly. The lobby entertainment was great. If I had to pick something that was not over the top I would have to say the beach. The hotel was on a cliff and the beach was off to each side so it was a little awkward to walk far.

Disappointment for First Tima Cuba Experience

This hotel was nothing like I expected. Terrible food, rude staff, dirty bed sheets and towels. Food and alcohol were limited. Pay per use wifi. A bit of a walk to the beach from our room. Would not stay here again.

5 star hotel

Is not 5 start hotel and staff they’re not friendly if you don’t tip every day no service and food is not 5 star and people in hotel 86 percent are local people vacationing with you is okay with me but beach is the best in world

Very nice resort

This is a nice hotel, nice beach, but one is vey small but has a bar with lunch buffet that compensate. The water is magnificent as always. The room was okay and our maid Raquel was very accommodating in our demands. Mikes cafe is a most in the morning for a Mocciato or a cold ice coffee with cacao liquor. The food is okay and the best restaurant is the Italian one. Very relaxing week with adorable smiling people!!

Clean environment

The environment is quiet,clean and good services.Food at ala Carte specially in Marina is good,and fast service .Bluemoon ala carte is too slow . Buffet is good,lot of choices and very fresh and tasty shrimp. Lobster lunch is the best. Definitely the group will come back in this resort.

Amazing Resort

My husband and I visited Ocean Vista Azul. Ocean Vista Azul is a beautiful property on a cliff looking over the ocean. The everyone on the resort are super nice. We met wonderful people and enjoyed our time.The food was not bad as well. It was my first time in Cuba and we will definitely be back!

Great resort

One of my favorite resorts in Cuba. Beautiful beach, infinity pool and location of resort. (loved the cliffs) The food in the buffet was great, I was surprised because Cuba is not known for great food at resorts. The staff were friendly, helpful and very entertaining. Our room didn't have a great view but we weren't in it that often to care. The shower was leaky (floors were so wet) and the water temperature was either too hot or too cold. The conditioner in our room was not working wel [... read more]l, after the 3rd day it didn't cool to the preferred temperature and was 26 and even 28 degrees in the room at times. We asked to fix it and they did, but the problem started again after a day and we gave up. The drinks at the bars were decent but sometimes the drinks were not sweet enough or too strong or too weak, it was always different. But overall, we had a great time and would come back to this resort again and maybe get the better view room.

Good Hotel

This was a good hotel with plenty of positives Was upgraded to an ocean view ( just amazing ) food was good not the best ive had for Cuba but always found something to eat.Drinks were hit or miss ....service was good also with very little exemptions .....grounds were really well kept ..ocean was good beach was ok on the long beach but very small on the other side like 8 pallapas only..Front desk needs to smile a bit more but was effective with service.

Won't return

there is a very small rocky beach with not enough shades. Rooms are OK.Food is just average and some staff not very nice. I WILL NOT RETURN .They not clean beach .empty cups and cigarettes buts everywere on the beach

Beautiful Resort

Recently spent a week at the rather newer resort. It is a very beautiful resort with an incredible infinity pool overlooking the ocean. The staff for the most part are awesome! Roberto at the beach bar, Yuneil at the infinity pool & the Sweetest egg girl ever... Never spent time at the pool so can not comment, but every time we walked by everyone seemed to be having a great time. Room keys were a big issue, first few days no problem, from then on it was ever other day our key cards stooped working. Very frustrating & annoying. Our last night the card died, up we go for new cards, walk back & still didn’t work. Took a good hour & then some all around to get in our room. Food: I have traveled to different area’s in Cuba for over 20 years & I have never had such disappointing food. There was an employee vacationing at this resort from a resort that I have vacationed at 3 times. I asked his opinion on the food & he agreed it was not good. Okay Resort

Rooms very clean, maid extremely helpful and pleasant. Had a hard time getting our fridge replenished even though this was part of what we paid for. Towards the end of our stay, this was rectified. Food is different-lived off fries, rice and bread but knew about the food going in. My son loved the mustard and brought some home. :) Resort is nice enough but there is something missing..... A couple of the women bartenders at the lobby bar were so miserable that my son and husband t [... read more]ried to avoid them and not go to the bar when they were working. Not good. Front desk isn't helpful with questions. We found out about things we missed on the last day. We got a good price for the resort so all was good. I would recommend this resort to others if the price was right.

Nice Resort But Needs to Be More Accommodating for Handicapped Person

Decent Resort, Lovely, clean rooms, large pool. Beach was nice but not the best I've seen. Food was good. Best part was the nightly entertainment. Dancers were amazing! Especially the Circus show. Bar staff and cleaners were very nice to my brother who is in a wheelchair. Also, the taxi driver from the airport had four men help him lift my brother (while sitting in his chair) into the back of his minivan. On our return to the airport, this same taxi driver had had a wheelchair ramp insta [... read more]lled in his van through the week. Very, very nice of him and much appreciated. Pool bar staff were extremely helpful and kind to us. However, I would definitely not return to this resort because I had requested a handicap room and they did not comply. They said they never received the request from my travel agent and that these rooms were being used by other guests. I did not see any other guests in wheelchairs the whole week. So I can only assume they gave their handicap rooms to people who didn't absolutely need them. A nice gentleman from Guest Services came to my room and saw that there was no way for my brother to access the toilet in our room. They offered me another room but the same issue existed there. They also offered to move us to another resort but my brother could not get into the car they were going to transport us in so we had to stay at this resort and not be able to use the bathroom in our room. I had to take my brother to the public bathrooms around the resort every time he required one. While I appreciate their attempts, I feel that they should have called the people in the handicap rooms and asked if someone would mind moving and giving us the room. It is not a nicety for us - it is a necessity. Or they could have put us in one of their "privilege suites" that may have had a larger toilet area.

Nice resort

Over all very good. Was surprised that they do not supply face cloths and facial tissue. Mini bar was not stocked daily. No fan to let steam out after shower. Tried 1 a la cart restaurant and it was horrible.

Excellent choice!

My husband and I visited this resort April 30 thru May 11. It was an excellent choice, highly recommended. The food was excellent, the animation was great - there are lots of activities going on a the large beach and main pool and the infinity pool has a one million bucks view. There were minor inconveniences: we needed to get up at 6:30 to grab breakfast and reserve a place in the shade at the main pool or the large beach (we were told the small beach shade was already occupied by 6:00 AM). The [... read more] resort seemed full. The shower has very hot water and you need a PhD in engineering to figure it out and get some OK water. However the resort is very clean, well maintained (probably because it's new). The tennis court is on a roof, quite inconveniently located, because the balls can get lost. We liked the gym, it was well equipped and not busy at all. The a la carte restaurants were not very good, the buffet was better. We tried them all, twice. In our opinion, Privilege is not worth the upgrade (only benefits are better drinks, an extra bath tub in the room along with a sofa instead of an armchair, and a better view, plus access to a seafood restaurant). It is a great place overall and we would come back for the food, infinity pool and animation.
