Disappointed

We booked our first time 14 days and was expecting to be in a 5 star. The food was not a 5 star and the resort is too big for the amount of staff. They are understaffed. The cleanliness is not the greatest but must say our room was always done and cleaned. Our room was too far from the beach and no trolleys on site.

Great hotel

Really enjoyed our girls’ week at the RIU República. Our room was in a building very close to the main pools and restaurants, so it was very easy to get around. The property is well maintained, the staff excellent, and the food very good. Can’t say I like the system used to get into an a la cart restaurant, but most resorts seem to struggle with this. Amazing resort

Just returned from 7day stay. Awesome Holliday excellent accommodation,food and services enjoyed every minute. Staff was very curtious and unimposing. Grounds are big and well kept from pools to gardens, there is something for everyone.Would definitely go again.

Really good resort great for adults

very clean rooms, beautiful grounds & beach areas, friendly staff. Food not outstanding but acceptable. Entertainment such as pools parties, etc bar service really good. no shortage of things to do both on site and other riu location

GREAT RESORT

Hotel was great food was great like that WiFi was everywhere on the resort big plus in my books found night shows wasn't a 5 star maybe 3 star in my books. Pools where well maintained and services was great. Was a bit disappoints on our room had a smell to it like sewage at times. And our sheets were damp had to air out the room every day

Amazing resort !

Beautiful area and beach with lots of big pools! Love the staff and food was good! Lots of options, great for all ages! Because the resort is so big and spaced out, you can pick the crowd you want to be around! “Starlin” at the buffet for a waiter was amazing and “Hanearo” at the Latin pool bar was so great!!! Would definitely recommend to go, and we would for sure return!!

Enjoyed our stay

The resort is beautiful. It has very large, and there are many options as to which pool and atmosphere you prefer. There were all ages who went to this resort. Rooms were nice and clean with lots of space. Hotel staff when checking in were super helpful with accommodating our large group and moving rooms we could all be close to one another. Transportation to and from resort to airport was great!

Good Time

Overall good resort. This was my second vacation here. The service improved greatly. Good selection of alcohol, friendly staff. I found housekeeping was not quite up to par. The steak house was disappointing, great buffet selection, Jerk chicken very good. They need to improve on the beef entrees.

Great Adult Resort

First time visitor to Rui Republica and hopefully not the last one, wife and I had a fabulous time at the resort and the weather was fantastic the hole week which helped the stay. The resort is well kept and clean throughout ,grounds are in great shape and the cleaning service in room were very good had no issues kept clean and liquor dispenser and fridge stacked daily . Restaurants were unbelievable lots to choose from and no need to make reservations other then the stake house had two seati [... read more]ng 7:30 and 8:30 first come basics other then that they all were buffet style, lots of food to chose from you wont go hungry. pools; they are plenty pool for everyone and the beach was fabulous lots of chairs and plenty shades for those who want to take a nap. Bars are everywhere you wont go thirsty lol !!! bring your own mug to save time but if you lazy they are guys servicing pool areas so you don't even have to get up for drinks. Resort is big if you are in the front its easier to get to activates and if in the back little walking required but plenty activities their also to keep you busy.

Riu Repulica

I must say that the Riu chain in Punta Cana is my Favorite . They always do a great job Thanks. I had a wonderful time everything was very well organized and local. Cabs are friendly and priced well. They will wait and not over charge. I am going to go back...

Very smoky Resort.

Thecastles Feb 2, 14:47 EST I recently stayed at the Riu Republica in the Domincan Repbulic. Very nice resort. But there were a large number of smokers, and no place to go if you were a non-smoker. Good food, service, staff, nice beach. But there were a tremendous amount of smokers. Smoking was encouraged everywhere. There are ashtrays in the lobbies, bars and even in the theatre. I did see some non-smoking areas in 2 bars, but since they were surrounded by smokers, what was the point? Th [... read more]ere was smoking all over the theatre. As a result, we did not see any shows, due to the number of people vaping, and smoking cigarettes and cigars. We tried sitting in the last row outside the theatre, but it too was very smoky. Even the large buffet had a smoking section outside. In short, there was no place to go to if you were a non-smoker. Bars, lobbies, pool area, beach, theatre were full of smoke. We retreated to our room. But since the buildings are not smoke free, guests smoked on their balconies, and of course, the smoke drifted towards us. This might seem petty, but I had an operation for lung cancer a few years ago, so I don't want to be exposed to smoke. My friend quit smoking a year ago,l and was also repulsed by the amount of smoke. I guess we are too used to non-smoking public places in Canada. I think Sunwing should be aware of this and warn future clients.

First time to this amazing resort.

My husband & I were very impressed with the resort. Everything was well looked after by the staff & grounds people. The staff at La Altagracia & the bar La Guira were awesome. Always happy to see you, willing to help in any way & make you feel comfortable. The beach was great & we didn't feel that we had to "fight" for a lounge.

Nice Resort

Nice resort but overbooked all the time causing frustration for customers having to be moved to other resorts, this is the second year for this, not acceptable! We requested close to beach as possible, we were returning guests bringing friends, placed us as far from the beach as possible, at least we didn’t have to move to other hotels like a lot of guests, wedding party of 30 people that arrived were split up in several hotels due to overbooking!

Great resort

We loved the rui ! Food was great, lots of choices. The bars are fast! No extra long lines The beach is nice,but the chairs re really crammed together and no easy way to get around, as palalpas are very close together and no clear isles, also have planted many small palms with this area. Red flag is usually out, but this did not deter many.. also a hundred yd trek through loose sand, if you have mobility issues this would be a hard trek Jerk hut on beach is good for snacks, burgers and hot do [... read more]gs, chicken is fantastic If you are a NON smoker, this resort is NOT for you! Smoking everywhere, lobby, bars, beach and all walkways. Riu does not discourage non smoking, as there are very few areas non smoking.. we had to leave the theatre, as it was really smoky, half enclosed but mostly outside. I would Not recommend this hotel to my non smoking friends

RIU REPUBLICA

We really like this hotel, that is why we returned to this hotel for second time in two years. We love the environment, the room, dining room, the pool, the entertainment, especially the beach is close the hotel. We really love the beach with strong wave to play with.

Awesome trip

We enjoyed everything right from check in to check out! The resort although very large is set up well with lots of pools,restaurants and bars! It was great that you could find chairs all throughout the day! We enjoyed the steak house as well as the Italian restaurant , buffets were both excellent as well! The entertainment both during the day around the pools and evening shows was standard ! We really enjoyed the drink service around the pools!

Great Resort!

Great resort with a wide range of age groups!. Many pools, great beach and fun nightly entertainment. we found the food to be just adequate with lots of repetition of the same foods in most of the restaurants. The snack bar foods were very sub standard for a Riu and this should be looked at to improve as there is very little to eat later in the evening. There were many other pools to enjoy so this was not an issue for us. Beach is very crowded so get there early to get a spot. beach area was well maintained and patrolled so not too many vendors bugging you all day.

Very Good Resort

check in was fast and front end staff friendly and helpful. The room was as we requested with no hitches. The housekeeping staff were friendly and catered quickly to any needs. The grounds are well kept as well as the beach front. Plenty of beach chairs available and bar service rounds were frequent. The two buffets on site were clean and variety of food tasty and catered, I would say, to every ones taste. The nightly entertainment was good and the daily activities were varied. The facilities of the related RIU's were included, but not within a reasonable walking distance.. .

Had a Fantastic Time!!!!

We had a great time at the Riu Republica. It had a great vibe and energy. The staff were friendly and helpful. The food was amazing as usual for a Dominican resort. It is quite a large resort so there is lots to do. We did have a wait for the restaurants each night which ranged from 15-50 mins but they handle it nicely with pagers so you can wait in the lounge with a drink. Overall i would highly recommend it to anyone looking for a relaxing week.

Awesome holiday location

This was a great experience! Our room overlooked the street and it was very quiet. Staff was very attentive and hard working. It is a large resort, but easy to get around. I loved all the restaurants because of the different themes. The 2 buffets offered so much variety as well. There were so many pools and bars, it was impressive. If you were hungry after the restaurants closed, there was food at the centrally located sportsbar. This was truly a vacation place where I let go of my stress. Very high prices and very pushy vendors. I liked the shop on the resort because it had a variety of everything and nobody was pushy. There were many activities like bingo, dancing classes, foam party, water slides, beach party, and other fun things. The shows were impressive as well. The staff do a great job encouraging guests to have fun. I will be very happy to visit this resort again.
