Great resort

The resort was amazing Christmas Eve the decorations and food was great The staff where very attentive Pools and pool area great but not much of a beach Cuban night great shows Best service in Lobby bar by The staff I would definitely go back

Love Gran Muthu Imperial

We very much enjoyed our stay. The staff are outstanding and committed to giving guests the best experience they can. The hotel itself is very new and the rooms are lovely and the grounds are beautiful and very well maintained. The swimming pools are also gorgeous and the beach is excellent too with lots of loungers and palapas. The food was the best we've had at an all inclusive in Cuba by far. Evening entertainment was very professional and the live music was outstanding. Once day was "C [... read more]uban Day" and they put on a spectacular event with traditional food, drink and entertainment. We also did a "romantic dinner" which was very nice. The spa was gorgeous and we enjoyed a massage there and they also have sauna and hot tub for clients to use. My only suggestions for improvement would be for the animation staff to not use microphones - super annoying. Also, being able to charge spa and gift shop purchases to the room would make things easier. We really like this hotel and look forward to returning.

Absolutely Beautiful!

I absolutely loved this resort. It was a 40 minute bus ride to the resort that was breathtaking to see. The resort itself is new and clean and had a great atmosphere! The rooms and the views were breathtaking, the pools were great but sometimes a little chilly but to be honest, just dunk right away and you’re good to go! The food was decent. The beach was stunning in terms of water colour, sand, but like others have mentioned, you definitely need water shoes but I did not find this a problem. Sometimes the seaweed would be overpowering on the beach but nothing too drastic so I thoroughly enjoyed my time there! The shows are typical shows but Friday is Cuban day and that was amazing! The entertainment during the day and the crew were phenomenal and always trying to get you having fun or relaxing with stretching, it was a lovely experience! Lots of chairs and cabana beds, never had to reserve which was a big plus! Last but not least, the Cuban people were absolutely beautiful! Had an excellent pre-Xmas stay, treated immaculately by all, service and entertainments made this resort a definite return destination for adults only all inclusive, not over crowded enough space to have quiet time, easy shuttle to local activities, super clean, great food, professional staff!!!

Place exceeded expectations

Just have to start with had a fantastic time at the Gran Muthu Imperial. The place is very clean and nicely laid out. Not a very large resort which I like. We stayed in building 9 room 9109. Second floor. Ocean view. Absolutely beautiful water. Large king bed. Bar fridge always stocked with a couple of pops, beer and a large bottle of water. The maid service was exceptional. Nice Imperial muthu hamburger with fries always hit the spot. Grounds are well kept and clean. 3 pools on 3 levels to satisfy anyone's swimming appetite. The bottom infinity pool overlooks the ocean. Never have to worry about chairs or cabanas. Plenty for everyone. The front lobby bar makes excellent espresso for an after dinner coffee and there's always some form of entertainment. Either a singer, piano or flute at the lobby. Nightly entertainment is good. The buffet is not overly large but has enough to fulfill anyone's palette. Fridays is Cuba day. Place is adorned with palm leaves and flags. The staff is dressed up and they start spit roasting a pig for dinner. The entire staff we met were excellent. Professional, courteous and eager to please. Have to give a special thanks to the gentleman I believe is the manager of the place. I would see him in the morning helping staff at the buffet afternoon planning outside things with other staff and evening looking in on the A la carte's. The guy was a machine. Drinks were very good. Bartenders were good at what they did. The Spanish coffee was a hit down there with many vacationers. The beach is located beside building 4. A 5 minute walk from building 9. Nice Sandy beach. A bit rocky near the beach bar but a little further down and no problem. Playa Pilar is a 5CUC cab ride away. He'll drop you of and pick you up when you want. Just ask the front desk to call the taxi. Playa Pilar is an amazing bit of beach that needs to be seen. What else can I say? Special thanks to Jennifer our travel rep that got us what we wanted. Great vacation

Had wonderful time and would highly recommend. Weather was great, accommodations awesome and staff really made a difference. Was expecting food to be an issue but was great. Plus pools were excellent and went to beach too which was lovely. Would love to come back and enjoy.

Amazing resort

we had a great time at this resort. The entertainment team were fun, they kept us involved in activities & shows. All the staff were very pleasant, we would go back to this adults only resort. made friends there as well.

A Disappointing Let Down for a “Five Star” Resort

The biggest disappointment was the fact that the beach was extremely filthy, not only was the beach covered with seaweed but was also littered with trash. Ruining the beach experience and in extension the vacation. The staff did nothing to clean the beach, garbage remained on the shore for several consecutive days. As for the room; the bathroom was not adequately maintained. Throughout our stay, hair remained in the shower drain for the entire duration. However, the ocean view was great and coffee was very good at the bar. Bar staff were also friendly and very nice. In addition, the pool was adequate and pool staff were also friendly.

Beautiful resort!

Wonderful clean newer resort No beach area- but beaches 5 minute walk to the right or left Friendly staff Great games and entertainment Adult only so peaceful Poutine- fantastic! Lots of seating inside and out to sit and relax. Great mojitos!

Our first vacation in Cuba

Good: hotel is very clean and well kept. Daily room cleaning. Entertainment staff are trying their effort to do fun activities despite the fact that hotel was a bit empty. Bar at the lobby was the best - Morning Bartender, dark skinned guy, shaved head guy (sorry i forgot his name) was very polite, professional and his drinks are on point! Bad: FOOD! Food and food! I have never spitted out so much food my entire life. Eating their beef is like chewing a rubber. Everything was bland. Seafood w [... read more]as not fresh. Sometimes it seems like food is not edible. International restaurant - we had stomach ache after our dinner. Chinese restaurant - i chewed their sweet and sour pork and had to spit it out after. Breakfast: it seems like they simmer or boil their bacon. Only good thing i ate was their bread. First time to be hungry while on a vacation. I get the part that Cuba is a communist country and they have their own ways of doing things but if you’re main source of income is from tourist especially Canada at least try to cater on north american food. Customer service: hit and miss! Its not consistent, night front desk ladies will give you an attitude if you ask them questions. Overall rating: 6 out of 10. Would I recommend it? For first timers in Cuba like me... no. unless you dont care about the food. Save your hard earned money and visit Mexico or DR instead

Great resort

The people make this resort from the welcome desk all the bars and restaurants all family now this was our second time and booked our third for February already. The grounds are well kept rooms are clean the pools are very clean

Gran Muthu Imperial

In general, we were very satisfied with our stay. The room was very comfortable, the pools were very good, the recreation staff were excellent, service was very good. We had no issues with cleanliness or the staff. The food at the buffet tended to be the same every day, but managed to hit all the food groups and we certainly did not starve. Our only hiccup occurred during checkout. We charged an inexpensive bottle of wine to our room. We wanted to settle our account with our credit card. The  [... read more]concierge tried to put the transaction through on our VISA card, which we had used successfully in the hotel a few times during the week. The concierge said the transaction was not going through and that there must be something wrong with the card because their system was operating perfectly well all morning. So, we tried two other credit cards and got the same results. In order to settle our account, we were forced to convert canadian funds into CUC. And so, we did. When we got to the Cayo Coco Airport, we made purchases using our VISA card, successfully. When we got home, I contacted VISA to inquire if/why they had denied the transaction at the hotel. VISA said there is no record of the transaction and there was absolutely nothing wrong with our card or our account. The insult came 3 days later when I noticed the charge for the bottle of wine showed up on my VISA statement. I contacted VISA to investigate and cancelled our current card numbers.

Great stay

The hotel is beautiful, rooms clean and modern...no real beach on the property but the adjoining hotel has a nice one....food was okay. Great week of relaxation with amazing staff. Would go back and stay here again!

Beautiful, modern, luxurious!

This resort was exactly what I was looking for. Modern and airy with a cozy feel, the beautiful lobby filled with comfy lounge chairs and soft lighting was a wonderful place to relax in the evening while the excellent hotel staff took care of every whim. Trully deserving of its five star rating!

Very nice resort

The beach was pretty good. The food was delicious but repetitive. The staff was the best part. rooms were nice and clean. Not everything was open but it is still very new. Very very close to Pilar beach. Really enjoyed the visit.

No better place in Cuba!

There aren’t even words to express what a great time we had. The staff are amazing! They are so appreciative of all the guests and are so welcoming. The rooms are clean and big. We went low season so not a lot of food but we enjoyed every meal. The pools are clean. The beach is rocky in some spots but still beautiful. There are drinks brought right to you on the beach. The lobby bar is a nice place to hang out in the evening. Drinks are great. Snack bar is 24 hours. Food and drinks [... read more] are great at the Snack Bar. We will definitely be back. This was our second time.

Highly recommend

Pilar beach is a 5 peso taxi ride round trip away. 100% worth checking out. As is always a concern the food wasn’t the best but the staff went over and above to make sure they served the best they have. Very nice experience overall

We had a wonderful time.

The hotel is exceptionally clean and the friendly staff are amazing. Lots of foods to choose from. A variety of on going activities. Pools are beautiful. The nightly entertainment was great and the performers are very talented people. Being that it is the off season the resort was only half full. We had so much space and attention.

Great resort!!

Great hotel. Pools were awesome looking, I do wish the beach was better but hopefully it will be improved in the future. Had a lot of fun at the sports bar and did a greta excursion to Pilar beach. Would definitely return to this hotel.

Grand imperial mathu

The resort was very good. Rooms very large and clean. Staff was very friendly and helpful. Pool was large and very clean. Twenty four hour bars and food. Common areas and bathrooms very clean. Negative part. There was no beach. Food choices very limited. Kind of juices limited. No orange apple or tomato juice
