Media Luna Resort: It was PERFECT!

To be honest some enjoy the "busy-ness" of large chain resorts and that is fine I guess if there is enough room, but that was NOT what we were looking for. Media Luna is absolutely beautiful and gives you the feel of having the amenities, but also the aspect of some solitude as well. A vacation for me is to relax, not be caught up in lines and fighting for position to get a chair down near the water every morning and then have to put up with loud obnoxious idiots getting drunk and stupid. The room (cabana) was comfortable and cozy also allowing you have a sense of privacy instead of having people in rooms next to you... this was nice as well. The diving staff were cool and helpful each time we went to rent gear and the water is absolutely spectacular for diving and snorkeling! With the way the world is these days in North America to be able to see water so clean is refreshing to say the vary least. Only note I can make that may be considered a downside may be the food. I am not picky and I had done my homework to understand the food would not be 5 star .. that turned out to be true, but you can find a couple things and stick with them :-) Overall, I would rather go back winning something free for this review than to go to Mexico ... that should tell you something about my overall rating of Media Luna!

Media Luna Resort: Hidden Gem

First off let me start off by saying that the people who work at this resort really care about what they're doing and go out of their way to make sure you're having an amazing vacation. Our Cabana was clean, huge bathroom, large deck with a hammock, two beds/closets, tv and you can control the air conditioning. We took Kayaks out and staff would go out with you if you didn't feel comfortable going out alone. Amazing snorkeling and we hear from new friends that we met there that there was even more amazing diving! The food was good and the buffet had something for everyone. The only three downsides to this resort were the alcohol (beer and wine was pretty terrible although the pina coladas were great lol) and the bar was only open until 11 so if you're looking for a crazy party resort this is not it (we were looking for a more relaxing vibe and we definitely found it with media luna) as well as the one a la carte that you get was not that great of food or selection. That being said, we went ziplining through the resort at a place called pirates of the Caribbean ziplining (AMAZING) 300 feet above the jungle with the view of the sea. We also rented a car through the resort and drove through the island of roatan to West end and West Bay (highly recommend doing this we were able to see and meet some pretty cool people and eat amazing local food) as well as we cabbed into town through the resort and went for supper at Romeos', AMAZING seafood place on the water 15 minutes from the resort. All in all we had an amazing time at Media Luna. We were treated well by everyone and were able to get the relaxing/exploration trip we were looking for. A big shout out to Kelly on the entertainment team who definitely made our trip for us, going out of his way to make sure he knew everyone and make sure everyone was happy. Media Luna Resort: Amazing snorkeling

It was a very quiet resort. Highly recommended for snorkeler and divers. Snorkeling right at the resort. The food was a little bit repetitive, but tasted good. The beach is short and narrow, so would not recommend for people looking for nice long sandy beach.

Palma Real: Great as a secure base for exploring the area

I chose his resort to be my secure base for exploring the area on my first time visit to Honduras while traveling solo. The hotel is conveniently located close to all the day trips and excursions offered in the area except for Ruins of Copan. The resort and the area felt safe. There is securiy personnel on site, I requested a safe in the room and got it; the door and balcony had secure locks. It seems that safety of guests is a high priority for the hotel management. I took five excursions and I loved my experience. The resort is reasonably close to hiking trips at Pico Bonito Natural park, River rafting, Cacao lagoon, canope (zip-line) and hot springs, and Cayo Cochinos snorkeling trip. Average price of the tours is 75 USD per person, but many require minimum number of participants which can be tricky in low season especially if you travel solo. Two of the trips I organized myself, as I can speak Spanish, and I just used the transportation provided by the hotel which added extra level of comfort and security to my adventures. The excursion personnel at the hotel were helpful and the hotel drivers reliable. With a price of CAD $1,090 all inclusive (plus the excursions) that i got as a last minute deal I hardly could wish for anything to be better. My 'supersaver' room had an ocean view, hammoc on the balcony, TV with about 80 channels - most in Spanish though, air conditioning, comfortable bed, and plenty of hot water. Wifi was spotty and limited during the dinner high-demand time but Ok at other times. The food was OK although no luxury and the coffee in the buffet was decent for my high standard. Overall, for me the choice of the hotel worked perfectly fine for the mix of security, civilization, comfort, and proximity to nature and availability of activities nearby. However, if the main thing you want during yor vacations is to stay on a nice beach and have some luxury or if you are a 'foody' this place may not be your best choice, especially if you have to pay much higher price than I did. I would recommend this resort to active travelers who want to try a new destination without spending a fortune and who don't get disappointed by the beach that is neither idyllic blue water nor white sand. Overall, I loved my trip and hope you will enjoy yours too!

Henry Morgan Resort: Good resort

This was a nice hotel. The staff was attentive and helpful. The bed was as hard as a brick! The food was ok. The location is perfect, there are tons of beach chairs. We had a great time and would definitely return.

Henry Morgan Resort: Improving

The hotel is slowly upgrading which is good. New features would be the wine bar and the beach bar. The food is still very plain and lacking in variety. The staff is unbelievable and makes u forget the rest. George should be the manager of the entire property. He is the best in customer service I have ever seen.

Infinity Bay Spa and Beach Resort: Fantastic

Beach to die for. Staff was incredible. Food was good except for the rancid butter on first buffet, be careful still of what you eat on hot vacations. 7 days of 36-39 degree days, diving well organized but busy on cruise ship days. Great place for snorkelers as the reef is close and active. If you`re a diver do the shark dive. Not sure if it was the week we were there or if it is normal but night noise was bad with parties.

Parrot Tree Beach Resort: Relaxation at its best!

If your looking for a quiet vacation of relaxation this is the place. Excursions, rental cars, taxi's, on resort snorkeling and dive adventures are all available without the hustle and bustle of a busy resort. There is no reserving of beach or pool chairs, at the most there would be 10 people at the pool. The resort and the rooms are beautiful. The staff are very friendly and helpful. I wouldn't recommend this resort to families. There isn't much for kids to do, no kids club or shows etc for the [... read more]m. The only negatives we would say is the food at the Palapa Restaurant wasn't great. We fed a lot of our meals to the resort cats. We were told that the female cook was great but only worked in the morning. They provide a shuttle for $5 person to the grocery store which is great. Friends we made went to Cal's just outside the resort and said it was amazing food and atmosphere. The other negative is the sand fleas but that's everywhere on the island. Bring lots of Off.

the staff was great the rooms are basic but very clean the food was good there is only a few problems with this resort no coffee in morning till 7 and only in buffet the alcohol is served from 11 till 11 have a beach bar that is not included in all inclusive the beach is beautiful and lots to do

very good but should have a pool bar rooms were very nice.people were very friendly and helpful.grounds very beautiful and cleaN.THE WATER WAS VERY BLUE AND GREEN AND CLEAR.food was good and drinks are also good.

Henry Morgan Resort: Great little resort

Perfect size. Food was good, not great, but lots of restaurants along the beach for variety. Friendly staff. Great snorkelling off the beach and through the associated dive shop. Will consider coming back

Henry Morgan Resort: Great spot!

Different than your typical all-inclusive! Right in all of the action, with a beautiful beach. A little rustic so don't expect anything fancy! Amazing snorkeling right off the beach with lots of restaurants and activities nearby!

Media Luna Resort: First Impressions were not great but .......

Oue First impressions were not great, the resort is a little tired but really grows on you after a day or two The joke was it is the first "almost all-inclusive" we have been too. Totally a place to go if you just want to relax, sleep and read books in a very beautiful tropical setting :).. Just don't have your expectations too high and you will have a wonderful time. As well the coffee in this shop is way way better then the buffet and is $1.00 a cup so would suggest that your first stop in the morning. The beach is not very big but you can snorkel right from shore which is very nice(bring but spray as the sand fleas are very hungry) , not sure if this would be a good place to bring young children as there isn't very much to do at all for them. Two smaller type pools but that is about it. Only one choice of beer (not local beer either) most of the time but it was always nice a cold. the rest you have to pay $3.00 extra for. The rooms are tired and for the most part clean and some sewage smell that required you to keep your bathroom door shut at all times but we had Ocean front with a lovely patio and hammock so the view and the sound of the waves crashing on the rocks made up for the room:) The cobble stone walk ways throughout the resorts although very pretty might be a challenge if you have mobility issues and for sure ladies leave your heals at home!! This is not a dressy place at all totally casual so no dressing up for dinner required (which is a buffet every night from 6:30-8:30) Over all it was a lovely relaxing time which was just what we were looking for.

La Ensenada Beach Resort: Enjoyed time here.

Was there Mar 7-14/16. Resort is very clean. 10 yrs old. Very few people there when we arrived..maybe 10 for the first 3 days. Filled up to 300 by Sat. and around 40 people by Sunday evening. Food was good. Service was great. We went off the resort for snorkeling. It was ok but not many fish considering this is the 2nd largest reef in world. I wouldn't do that again. We found the excursions offered were expensive and all is US dollars which adds to the cost. The beach has a security guard with a semi automatic rifle on guard and the entrance is secured. We walked into Tela which was a 10 min walk. Town was what you would expect in a third world country. Really nothing to purchase that captured our attention. No gift items that we saw either in town or at the resort. Take bug spray and sunscreen. Bus ride from airport to resort approx. 90 mins. I would go back again. He had a wood cabin 1403..we thought we would have a washer and dryer as others commented on this. We did not have a washer or dryer in our cabin. Also cabins show kitchen and dining area...not the wood cabin that we were in. We had 2 queen beds with a wall mounted tv, balcony with 2 comfy chairs and table, bathroom with large shower, and a galley kitchen with a bar fridge, coffee maker and counter area. Our safety deposit box was broken but we forgot to mention it to the front desk. Not sure if the people before us mentioned it to the front desk or not. Strangely there are no dressers for clothes. The galley kitchen has a clothes rod and some shelves. We usually live out of our suitcases but this may bother other people. My husband does speak some Spanish and this was helpful although most people at the resort did speak some English. If you are looking for a vacation with total down time this is the place to go. We each read 1.5 books. It is the kind of get away we were looking for. If you want action and excitement would should consider somewhere else. Voltage is the same as ours so no need for travel converters. Plugs were the same as ours as well.

Mayan Princess Beach Resort: Excellent Service at Mayan Princess

We had a great time at the Mayan for two weeks in March. The room location was just steps to the pool and to the beach . The room was just what we needed and exceeded our expectations. Only complaint was there was low water pressure in shower and hot water would come and go. The service in the restaurants and bars was excellent. Never had to wait long for a drink at all. The food was good and exceeded our expectations. The beach and pool areas were clean and never had to fight for a lounger even [... read more] in cruise ship days. The Mayan is a great small resort that knows customer service.

Mayan Princess Beach Resort: Wonderful Staff

Upon arrival our room was nice and clean. Our maid made some cute décor when she changed our bedding. The ocean was amazing when it was calm and it was a beautiful clear blue. The best part of the hotel was the staff. They were all so polite and eager to help you in any way possible. I must not forget the beach guy would move your lounger to anywhere you wanted and would provide you with a personal umbrella. The hotel had all the necessities you would want. Mayan Princess Beach Resort: Great resort for divers

Great resort if you are a diver or like to snorkel, not so much so if you are not. It's a three star at best. The staff however were great, could not do enough for you. The whole island reminds me of Mexico thirty years ago. Poor roads, can't drink the tap water, hydro cuts out, terrible internet, lots of beach vendors. We were there for two weeks mid February. Rained constantly for the first week, found out that it's their rainy season. Runs till mid February, so if you go, go later. Booked an  [... read more]oceanfront, was actually tree view, oceanfront, so don't bother. Nice beach though, with great snorkeling right out front. It does get invaded with cruise ship people mid week, gets a bit insane. Lots of flies and sand flees, so bring bug spray! Also, bring lots of US cash, they all want to get paid in US currency but you can't get any from the ATM machines. You can only get Limpira when they work. The island is under developed and has a long way to go to satisfy the discerning traveler.

Media Luna Resort: Peace and serenity

Family of 4 with a 17 and 11 year old. We traveled with another family of 3. They were accommodating and the staff went out of there way to make us feel looked after. The resort was extremely relaxing, it was a great place to go and unwind. The snorkelling and diving was 1st class and the dive center employees were great. The food was good and there was a wide variety. The chicken was always good. We will be returning to this resort in the future.

Infinity Bay Spa and Beach Resort: superior service resort

This beach front property is not your average resort. You will be staying in a large (1 or 2 bedroom), very clean, well maintained condo with a fully equipped kitchen. The pool, beach and restaurant are clean, and modern. The management and staff are this resorts biggest asset. Anything you want you are encouraged to ask, we didn’t need to. Arrange a tour from the onsite agents, as they actually got us better prices for our adventures off site. Even at full capacity it did not feel crowded. The mix of owners & renters was a pleasant one, made it fell like home. No doubt we will return.

Henry Morgan Resort: Wonderful resort, staff and island!

The hotel was great! It had a nice pool area, great beach, the rooms were nice and the hammocks on the porch in the back were a favorite spot for us to go relax and enjoy a book or the sounds of jungle! The dining room was nice with a good selection of food (the chocolate croissants were amazing) and plenty of variety for beverages. The entertainment staff was also phenemonal!
