Occidental at Xcaret Destination: Bad food

Had diarrhea every day. Food was bland and nothing special. We ate at every restaurant. Salt water pools were great. There really isn't a beach as it is man made. We attended a wedding and unfortunately the meal was served in a private room which was exposed to the outside and it was very hot and humid.

Barcelo Bavaro Palace: Amazing family vacation

The resort was everything we could have asked for and more The room was amazing and so was the view. Quick transport from the airport and easy check in. Highly recommended for families. Food was great as were the a la cart restaurants. Beach spectacular. If you prefer a quieter section of the beach request rooms in the 1100 to 1400 section away from the lobby.

Barcelo Maya Colonial: nice resort

Very nice resort. Beautiful grounds with beautiful beaches. Food was excellent. Service was good except at the pool bar where we were ignored but solved that by leaving the pool to go the the bar just behind the pool bar where the service was much better. Coffee bar was excellent for coffee and service.

Occidental Caribe: Nice Resort

Clean grounds, lobby, restaurants and bars. Rooms were nice for a 4 star, everything worked well ! Maid service daily was great and most staff very friendly. No pushy time-share folks like Palladium and Hard Rock that we visited in 2017. As much as the dune buggy (Polaris Rzr's) look exciting, they are a bigger rip-off than previous times as you spend more time stopping at 'family vendors' than you actually do any driving. Barcelo Maya Beach Resort: amazing resort

Barcelo Solymar: Gong Show

We arrived to be told at 2am that they had no room for us and had no offer of alternate accomodations. Then they came up with one room and a king bed to two male occupants which was not acceptable. After providing some alternate options that staff put us in the adjacent hotel in a handicap room for the first night. The next day we were moved but it took away time from our holidays to move. After this the room service was missed on one day and required follow up each day after for the room to  [... read more]be made up. The hotel also had laundry service problems and did not have full linens for the room so we had no change of sheets and a small towel for the bathroom which were not changed until the last few days of the trip. The hotel had no beach towels for the week until the second last day so what we had had to be used regardless of the condition at the end of the week. We have been at this hotel last May and service is definitely declined in many areas. There was of course staff that were exemplary but they were overshadowed by the issues we dealt with. Food was limited in options compared to our last visit but acceptable for Cuba.

Barcelo Bavaro Palace: Beautiful Resort!

This resort is huge so expect to do plenty of walking. There is a train for your convenience. The grounds are very nice and the workers are constantly working to keep the grounds looking lovely. The beach is amazing!! No problem getting lounge chairs but not much shade. There is an adults only pool, kiddies pool and two other large family pools. At times lounge chairs are hard to find. Lots of pool bars, regular bars and even a coffee bar. A la carte restaurants were very nice and meals de [... read more]licious. Even at the buffets there was always a variety of foods so you always found something to your liking. There was also a sports bar which was open 24 hrs. Staff was very friendly but very few spoke English. Entertainment at the theatre was typical for a resort but it didn't start until 10 o'clock. The casino was also a fun place! The only negative about resort is check in isn't until three or later and wifi is not free. Wifi in casino is limited.

Barcelo Solymar: It was okay!

We stayed at Barcelona Solymar. The hotel was pretty clean for the most part. The rooms were pretty standard for Cuba. The people working there were fairly friendly. One thing I find is you do not go to Cuba for the food, the food isn’t very good. The food at our resort was the best food I’ve had in Cuba this time around! The beach was a fair walk from the resort, 2-3 mins! The beaches are clean and absolutely beautiful. The one problem I had was the bars that served liqour were all closed b [... read more]y 12am... so if you didn’t drink beer you were kind of out of luck! The distance from the airport to the resort we were at wasn’t that long, 45 mins or so! Going into town was the best part, The Beatles Club is ALWAYS a good time, and the drinks are cheap. I also love the old cars that they have for Taxis, a nice touch. The Water pressure in the rooms are very poor, and the tv didn’t work when we got to our resort, the sliding door was also in need of repair, it was very hard to open and close. We also had a room Overlooking a new resort that they were doing construction on, so we got woken up to pounding and shouting every morning we were there, when we asked for another room they had said the resort was COMPLETELY booked, which didn’t make sense because there wasn’t that many people there... Other than that, id definitely go back to Cuba.

Occidental Cozumel: A Fine Resort

We chose this resort, partly because we had been there 2-years ago. (We've also been to COZUMEL six times to other resorts there) Since the last time, there has been a substantial overhaul, due, partially to the hotel becoming part of the BARCELO group. Anyway, we enjoyed our stay

Allegro Cozumel: Best ever resort

This resort was a tropical paradise with beautiful lush grounds maintained to the highest standard.. we never saw any garbage bins overflowing all lights on walkways and buildings were working and romantics in its lighting . The staff was always parked in public areas ( bathrooms) pools cleaning non stop! The pools were immaculate and a choice of three .. adult fun pool with a swim up bar and the pool staff kept us entertained and having fun all day .. waiters to serve your every drink!! There w [... read more]as a quiet pool for those lazy days where you just could read and have a nap!! There was also a kids water park that had a life guard and you could spend hours playing with your kids beautifully kept and lots of fun!! The food was very good great choices and lots of it alway hot and fresh and a staff that waited on you hand and foot !! The bars were well stocked and the sports bar had premium liquor!! The a la carte restaurants were a 10!! The food and service to die for especially the Asian !! Maid service was prompt and every day we had a new towel animal!! They did a fantastic job of stocking our fridge and the rooms and balconies were spotless every day.. each room had its own balcony hammock a wonderful touch.. all in all for the price we paid we had a lovely time not to menu the beach snorkeling scuba diving and other water activities.. I recommend a special coffee at the beach and catch the most beautiful sunset I’ve ever seen!! I traveled there with 13 family members two of them children and we all had a great time made some lovely memories I give the allegro a 10... and would go again !!

Barcelo Huatulco: Nice Resort

The resort is a small resort which was fine for us but if you want a large resort with lots of activities this is not the resort for you. The location is amazing and the weather was unbelievable with no rain for the whole vacation but very hot. The resort was super clean with the staff always cleaning or fixing something to maintain the surroundings. The food was ok but nothing spectacular. Buffets were basically the same thing every day and the a la cart restaurants were good if you could get i [... read more]n. One HUGE CON is you have to line up every morning for 9am to reserve an a la cart restaurant for that day only and if you are not at the front of the line you probably won't get one. There are 4 restaurants and they would rotate to only have 2-3 open each night. If you signed up for premium you could book your week all at once. Which we did try to do but when we arrived they wanted $290 US extra for premium. The person beside me was offered $245 which I said we wanted too. He went for approval and came back saying the manager said its now $300. We told them forget it and then the next day which is one day less when reserving a restaurant she tried to up grade us and wanted $310. For such a large chain I was disgusted how this was handled. I work in the sales industry and if I did this to my customers I wouldn't have any. The staff were very friendly and always helpful. Went to town one afternoon which is very safe. The beach is nice but is not flat and has a huge incline which makes very hard to walk. The ocean was usually rough so if you are a ocean person which we weren't, it would not the best for swimming.

Occidental Costa Cancun: Wonderful Vacation!

We had a fabulous stay at the costa cancun. It is a small resort, so all the staff gets to know you well. The staff is amazing, especially the recreation staff and the restaurant servers! The food was very good, and a great variety. The resort is kept very clean and well maintained. This is the only resort we have ever been to where we could find lounge chairs available any time of day at the pool or beach, they are very plentiful! This resort has very good use of space and everything is within  [... read more]a short distance. Also excellent if you are going on excursions, because right around the corner from the buffet restaurant is the port of take off for all sorts of fun things, like the ferry to Isla Mujeres, Pirate ships, dance and party boats, jet ski. The beach is a bit small but other than that this was a great resort and we enjoyed our week very much!

Barcelo Maya Grand Resort: Excellent resort!

This was our second trip to an all inclusive in the Riveria Maya and although we really enjoyed the first resort, we liked the Barcelo Maya Grand resort even better. The resort is really 5 hotels in one with multiple pools, 3 buffets, 3 theatres, about 5 ala carte restaurants, a mall area with bowling alley, shopping and miniature golf. Everything is connected by pathways and easily accessible on foot. Very long, beautiful beach area!

Grounds well maintained. Hotel also well maintained and kept quite clean. Excellent food at all restaurants. Attentive and respectful staff. Good customer service area and client focused. Offshore boat traffic somewhat irritating. Great beach.

Occidental Papagayo: Great all adult resort

The food was excellent as was the staff. The grounds make you feel like you are in Paradise . Was quite pleased that trip central sent out numbers in case there were issues. Peace of mind. Great trip.

Occidental Punta Cana: Nicely kept!

Nicely kept! The accidental was a very lovely four star resort. The grounds were kept up very nicely. This is a nice size resort not too much walking to get to where you want to go. The beaches are gorgeous! We had the best Ala cart meal we’ve ever had at an all-inclusive at the steakhouse ! Definitely a family resort as there were lots of small children but this did not cause a problem we did not have any air conditioning in the first room we were assigned to and it took two days for u [... read more]s to be moved but once we were that room is fabulous !

Barcelo Huatulco: Great resort and affordable.

The hotel itself is well maintained and well equipped, very clean. The maids, wait staff, front desk, bartenders, everyone, were very pleasant and professional. On the down side, the Adults Only Pool ( teenagers to adults ), seemed to be a handful for Lifeguards and Security to enforce these Rules. Seemed to be less A la' Carte this year, if you wanted it one must get up early to get a reservation, even then if you could get one was questionable, otherwise it was all buffet. Barcelo Bavaro Palace: Luxurious Resort

The resort was amazing. Super spacious resort, room cleanliness, food quality and restaurant options you got it all and much more. The super long beach was spectacular. I was concerned that it would be crowded or too busy since the resort could accommodate so many people, but I was so surprised that this was not the case. I think I preferred the huge resort, giving you so many options, different bar locations or seating areas where you can be in an areas with very little people. Barcelo Huatulco: Did Not Disappoint

Second time to this resort. Had a great Time. Staff excellent. Rooms very nice and very comfy beds. Grounds and buildings well maintained and clean. Restaurants could be a little better - very slow service. Spanish and Italian excellent. Everyone advised against the Japanese, so didn't try it but overall experience was good - will definitely be back!

Allegro Playacar: Absolutely incredible vacation

I cannot say enough about this resort!! The rooms were all kept the staff was fantastic! The resort was fulnyet still never Waite din line. The staff knew our names without having to tip excessively even though they deserved it. The beach is absolutely top notch. Who cares if there is not a dozen al la cate restaurants. The buffet has tonnes of variety throughout the week and was very tasty. If you are hesitating on this resort...DON’T Bike it. You won’t be disappointed.
