Grand Sirenis Punta Cana Resort: Worst Grand Sirenis resort

We went to 3 Grand Sirenis resort this year. Cuba, Mexico and Punta Cana. This was by far the worst resort we have been in the past 20 years. Everything from rooms, lobby to pool to restaurants. Rooms were dirty even with tips every day. There was a water leak and took very long time for someone to come fix. When asked if we could switch rooms it wasn't an option, used towels everyday cause it stilp leaked. The service is extremely poor and rude for most. Often the staff don't greet, always loo [... read more]k unhappy, makes it unapproachable for others. Mostly the front lobby bar is the worst. Most times were served old beer. Pool bar is slow service cannot keep up with the demand. They serve adults and ignore the teens and younger children when wanting to order non alcoholic drinks. Not a family friendly resort. Waterpark is not well maintained, most people, adults and kids complained about getting cuts or scrapes going down the slides. Lack of entertainment. A la carts is ok and buffet is same everyday. One night at one of their restaurants we were first in line (group of 10 with young children) told to wait so they can clean up the tables to accommodate out large group which was fine but the next two groups were also a group of 10 and 6 were seated before us. The staff gathered to put other tables to accommodate those two groups first while still leaving the non clean table unattended that was meant for us. When mentioned they said we still have to wait till they come to clean it to sit us at it. On top of that we waited for over 2 hours for our food, when asked why it was taking too long they replied due to the other large groups orders. While others were ordering their drinks, we ordered food first instead knowing our kids were hungry. The kids hamburgers, hot dog and pizza were last brought out last by then kids were sleeping. All the time waited the orders were even wrong. Next restaurant was served molded bun and tried to tell us it was a vegetable bun and compared it to the poppy seed bun which look nothing like the green fuzzy mold on the bun. They picked it off and asked if we still wanted it or get a new one. That was ridiculous. Our kids were traumatized by it and didn't want to eat anything with buns, often afraid something is wrong with the food being served. There's a time frame when buffets are closed so two snack bars and a takeout pizza place are open but most of the time they were also closed leaving people hungry and upset. If you didn't pack snacks, you'd starve till dinner is open. I would definitely not recommend this resort to anyone.

Occidental Punta Cana: Beautiful beach

Everything was amazing - sea, beach, pool, friendly staff, perfect service, everything neat and clean. Nature is charming! We spent lot of time on the beach, sea waves were magical, we couldn't get out of the water! Availability and versatility of food and beverages were impressive. Overall atmosphere - very relaxing and friendly!

Royalton CHIC Punta Cana: Bad hotel, would not recommend

Infrastructure Infrastructure is very deficient. Parts of the hotel flood with just 10 minutes of rain, and it even rains in parts of the lobby despite being indoors. You’d think that with how common tropical storms are, any hotel in Punta Cana could handle a little rain, but this one certainly can’t. You’ll also find exposed dangling cables and power outlets on the walls or at the beach right next to the chairs. Imagine stepping on one of those with wet feet? The reception and Wi-Fi a [... read more]t the doctor’s office are really poor. If you need to contact your insurance, you may have to borrow a phone and go outside. And if the doctor’s computer doesn’t have Wi-Fi, she won’t get any emails from your insurance company, and may not be able to provide covered treatment. And the “IT” people are clueless, I had to fix the Wi-Fi myself so the doctor could operate her account -.- Services and housekeeping Housekeeping is very inconsistent. Sometimes they leave no towels. Other times they don’t change or even shake the sheets (so if you had sand in them, you’ll still have it after housekeeping). Other times they don’t refill the minibar, so you have no water. Other times they don’t take the trash out. Other times they don’t replace the used glasses. So on and so forth. And if you ask the front desk, concierge, room service, or anyone else to fix anything, they’ll give you a commitment that it’ll get done right away, but it’ll actually never happen unless you ask several times. The safe wasn’t even working when we checked into the room, which makes me think they don’t do a basic check before welcoming their guests. And by the end, our room phone stopped working. The hotel doesn’t offer any transportation of their own. They work with a third party taxi company, and you can’t bill the cost to your room. The pricing is very inconsistent, we asked different staff members and they gave us drastically different prices for the same trip, so until you have them call a taxi and ask the driver yourself, you’ll never really know. Food and drinks The buffet is pretty good. It’s available for breakfast, lunch and dinner, and it has an abundance of different items: fresh fruit, smoked salmon, seafood and red meats cooked on demand on the spot, pretty decent pizza, a variety of desserts, many kinds of bread and bagels, a comprehensive salad station, honey on the honeycomb, etc. etc. etc. Without a doubt the best place to eat in the hotel. The honorable mention is the 24-hour room service, which has quite a few dishes and they are pretty decent. The restaurants are not very good. They seem to have very few items that are actually respectable, while the rest are pretty mediocre. We didn’t try Cloud 9 (it was 150 USD per person, I doubt this hotel can offer anything worth that much), but we tried all the others which were included. The drinks are also a big miss. Beer is never cold. Most cocktails are either overly sweet, watery, or just have a weird artificial taste. There are only a few decent ones, like the mojitos. Even the water can taste weird depending on where you order it. Entertainment There’s not really much to do at the hotel. There are a few sporadic activities like aqua gym or dance lessons. For non group activities, there’s a tennis court, but only one tennis racket available, so if you didn’t bring your own you can forget about playing. There’s a basketball court and a fitness center, but we didn’t try them. Other than that, there’s a spa, two pool tables and an air hockey table, all with very hefty prices. The night shows were ok and the club was mostly just empty playing very American music. Beach Aside from the infrastructure problems, the beach is ok. It doesn’t have a lot of sitting, but it was never full anyway, we could always find sitting with both shade and sunshine. They have a little tractor that clears up the seaweed regularly, so the sand stays mostly uncontaminated.

Bahia Principe Escape Aquamarine: Great time at the resort!

My girlfriend and I spent just about a week at the Bahia Principe Aquamarine along with her parents and I must say that we were quite pleased with our overall experience at the resort. The pool is set-up quite nicely where you can find areas where you can relax a little more, but also you can find a spot near the Pool Bar where things get a little more animated (in a fun way!). Speaking of Pool, the Entertainment was a fun time! The entertainment team definitely had all the energy to put on a  [... read more]show with their various games to keep people engaged (sometimes I did feel like the games were dragging on for too long?) but a real fun time in general. The Bar Staff for the most part are not the friendliest I will say. I would often find myself thinking if I said something wrong or if I am being annoying somehow? Perhaps I could have tipped them more so I can get better responses? The Lobby Bar is beautiful and a great hangout spot in the evening if you want to stay close to your hotel room and still want to be entertained. Sports Bar is definitely a fun highlight of our trip. It can get pretty rowdy in the evening which was unexpected! Great pub food, and just a great late night spot to have a few extra drinks before bed. Aquamarine's location makes it a 10 min walk to the beach which is super manageable and accessible. The beach is stunning. I would recommend a morning start at the Beach and then cool off by the pool in the afternoon. The buffet was surprisingly really good! We booked many A la Carte restaurants throughout the week, but we'd often find ourselves going back to the buffet as the service is so quick and the food was delicious! Do not underestimate the buffer. 9/10 recommend to anyone!

Temptation Miches Resort 21 Plus: worst resort i’ve ever stayed at

no one was there, the food was horrible and the resort was over an hour and a half from the airport, the entertainment was subpar at best and the rooms were disgusting and had bugs everywhere. ended up changing hotels to majestic colonial and had the best experience of my life, other than getting charged an additional $1700 to switch resorts

Hyatt Vivid Punta Cana: Beautiful resort!

The resort is well designated; room: clean, stocked, everything worked well, nice sheets and towels; landscaping: impeccable; pools: welcoming; beach: combed of seaweed each morning; restaurants and coffee shop: great variety; food: good quality; drinks: mixology perfect; service: incredible. My only complaint is the Club Family pool was gross, it isn't filtering properly. I would recommend upgrading to CLUB, a few extra amenities available, nice touch.

Bahia Principe Grand Bavaro: Amazing resort

Bahia Principe is amazing resort, but don't use West Jet . We had worse transfer from airport PUJ to Bahia Principe . They could not resolve it during half hour ping pong me from one reprehensive to another, even I show them my printed booked documents. at the end one of them said , I done it specially , I was teaching you how you must talk with me. For next my visit , I will use different air fare company like Air Canada , Transat , and will try avoid West Jet . Wyndham Alltra Punta Cana: Beautiful Resort

The grounds are well maintained, the staff is very friendly & helpful, the beach is beautiful, the pool area is great. The Club experience was excellent. It’s an older resort and the rooms need some maintenance.

Caribe Deluxe Princess: Very good resort!

Our family and friends stayed at Caribe and Tropical Princess between Nov 2nd-9nd and we had a great time. The rooms were clean and spacious, the entire resort was recently renovated and looked great, the A la Carte restaurants were very good, the buffet was a bit repetitive but not bad, the ice cream/coffee shop was a great added value, the beach and chair layout was sufficient and the water was great (we all love some waves and how clear of seaweeds they kept it) the groundds were kept very [... read more] tidy and having the flamingos, peacocks, ducks, etc walking arounf made it extremely relaxing. I would warn people to a couple things: 1. Extremely persistent and overwhelming pressure at times from the "time share" reps in the pink shirts. They hound you down on your way to the rooms from breakfast, chase you down to the beach/pool and don't take no for an answer. Wish management could try to control this. Other vendors along the beach are present but continue walking if you just say or nod No! 2. It seems that on weekends the place is innundated by locals who many have no etiquette or manners around the buffet/restaurants and bar areas by cutting in line not caring and at times mocking other guests (non-locals) with some staff. ( if you speak/understand spanish this is easy to pick up). Perhaps cutting the number of locals on wkds would alleviate much of the displeasure heard from other guests from Canada, US, Germany, and other European Countries. But overall, a wonderful week and I would recommend the Caribe Princess Deluxe!

Grand Sirenis Punta Cana Resort: 3.5 star at most

Pros The staff work hard at keeping the resort clean. The bar tenders try to move quickly. Entertainment team are the same crew from day time activities to nightly shows, and remain energetic. Beach was clean. Stephanie the wedding planner is amazing and will meet your expectations. Cons The mini bar in the room was only stocked twice in a week. The pool table and basketball court are unusable.

Hyatt Vivid Punta Cana: Amazing Resort

Layout of this resort is great! Easy to get to the pools and restaurants. All staff were smiling and super friendly. Very clean rooms, grounds and restaurants. Food presentations in the buffet was exceptional. Highly recommend.

Bahia Principe Escape Ambar: Very nice resort

We came back to this resort for the second time, because of all the resorts we've been to, this is our favorite. The rooms are large and clean. Nice bathroom. The workers keep the room stocked with supplies and the fridge stocked as well.

Ocean El Faro: Avoid Ocean el Faro

The service at this resort was terrible…. Rooms were barely cleaned… Mini bar and coffee not stocked… When requesting more beer in the mini bar (only allotted 2 per day) told I had to pay for it some all inclusive that is… I was walked in on in my room twice after the mini bar was stocked and the room cleaned so not necessary for anyone to be entering my room. Bar service was very slow everywhere and orders forgotten numerous times.

Royalton CHIC Punta Cana: Diamond club snub

This hotel was fine.The food was good. The staff are diamond club snobby. So ridiculous they will not let you sit on the outdoor patio at buffet unless your diamond club. Total BS it’s the only buffet and it is so hot on the upper level. Due to this I would not consider returning. The beach is small and water rough.

Paradisus Palma Real Golf and Spa Resort: Beautiful but...

This was a last minute trip for my wife and I and the price was great. We were in a garden view room but all of the rooms have some kind of view of the ocean and not many - if any - were on the beach facing the ocean so we felt good about that. It is a very large resort, but it was not that busy during our stay. The positive in that is that there were no large crowds, and it was easy to find a beach chair and a pool chair at any time of the day. The negative is that some of the restaurants were  [... read more]closed so we had only one option for breakfast and lunch... The buffets are really hit and miss; one day the food was just horrible. The lobby bar is fantastic and so is the Teppanyaki restaurant. The Mexican restaurant was not good at all but the Caribbean and steak restaurants were okay. There is no disco and the entertainment was not great. Communication on what was open, closed, and happening on the resort is very poor so it is a figure it out on your own type of place. The staff were lovely, welcoming, and accommodating. The beginning of November offered warm water and beautiful weather but there was a lot of seaweed washed up on the beach. They tried to keep it clean but it only took minutes for more to wash up. Not that big of a deal but it does shrink the beach a little cause very murky water. It was a very relaxing holiday all in all.

Grand Bavaro Princess: Unexpected (negative) surprise

Initial impressions were all good and resort had been refreshed since we were last there about 10 years ago. The unpleasant surprise came Friday afternoon when it became excessively crowded with 'locals' who came in for the weekend at a heavily discounted rate and there to party. Two plus days of crowded, noisy, and rudeness. For those of you that say 'good opportunity to mix with local culture', I'd argue that three days of unlimited booze and food is not a good sampling of 'local culture'.  [... read more] I enjoy meeting people and exploring other cultures but don't enjoy losing a third of my vacation to a frat party environment. Put a big damper on the trip and won't return to the resort.

Dreams Royal Beach Punta Cana: Exactly what we looking for

The family and I needed some RandR and shea provided probably the best resort to support are needs. Food and beach TOP notch. Lazy river was PERFECT. 100% recommended resort and travel agent. Service at the resort was great room’s fantastic. The buffet was my family’s favourite no matter what time of day it was. Oh and the rum was delicious

Bahia Principe Escape Ambar: Perfect vacation

We just returned from Bahia Principe Luxury Ambar after 8 glorious days in Punta Cana. This resort recommendation from Veronica at Tripcentral was absolutely perfect. It is a great resort, super clean and luxurious. We had a great time and the weather was perfect each day. Highly recommend any of the Bahia resorts as they are well run and well designed. We felt safe and had all that we needed to have a good time. Their a la carte restaurants were really high quality. We could also access all the [... read more] a la carte restaurants at the connecting Bahia resorts and there is a shuttle service that runs all day and night to bring people all to the shared areas with each resort. It is a huge place and well organized and friendly staff. For our resort the beach is really close to the hotel rooms and lobby as compared to the others resorts that are part of the property. So beautiful and clean and well maintained. Rooms were exactly like the website photos and the cleaning staff were great. Very clean and well maintained resort. The food at the buffet was high quality, plentiful and varied. Great service all throughout. The water for the hotel for drinking and ice were all safe for guests and bottled. The tap water was not recommended to be consumed by non-DR residents as it can cause stomach problems. We had no issues. This part of Punta Cana was so beautiful and the beach was clean and well cared for. Great service for drinks on the beach. Also, Air Transat was fabulous to work with at the resort. Really helpful staff that helped to orient us when we arrived and the flights were great. We did one excursion that was really fun. We will definitely go back to another Bahia.

El Beso Adults Only at Ocean El Faro: Resort Review

The hotel is beautiful, especially the lobby. The food was good as well as the entertainment and the entertainment staff. mike's cafe also amazing! While I never saw a cockroach in my room I saw about 5 outside on the walkways and one on my balcony. I've never seen one at a resort before so that was unsettling. The night with vendors, and the staff trying to get you to buy timeshares along with constant emails to purchase overpriced items was too much. We go on vacation to relax, not to be  [... read more]pestered and ripped off. We also called for toilet paper and were told they had none, had to get some from another guest. For those reasons we will not return.
