The room was very nice, the beach had a lot of algea. The food was not too good, everybody told me to go to Mexico because the food was so much better than Cuba, it was not the case. The 3 buffet were OK. ...the a la carte restaurants were " fusion style " none of them were just Mexican....we were extremely disappointed. We will go back to Mexico for sure but never again in Cancun it is just way to americanised for us....

Riu Cancun: Very good Resort
The resort is right on an excellent beach. The sand is white and clean. The staff is very friendly. We were always greeted with a smile. The pools are clean. Souvenir shopping is right across the street. Only draw back is low water pressure and constantly changing temperature in the shower. It would change from cold to scalding hot.

Grand Oasis Cancun: Truly the Entertainment Resort!
There is lots to do at the Grand Oasis in Cancun! On one side, you can listen to music, party, and enjoy a more crowded area with tons of entertainment. On the other, you can relax quietly on the beach on their beach beds and listen to the crashing waves of the ocean. There are not many resorts that offer this contrast, and it is truly appreciated.
There are tons of shows and always entertainers roaming around the grounds. The view in the beach front room we had was breathtaking, the rooms co[... read more]uld be bigger but it was bearable. Staff was wonderful, very informative and friendly.
The beach beds at the Sian Ka'an Beach Club was a wonderful experience. You must wake up early to get one as they are first come first serve. However, you do get service directly to your cabana (food and drinks) which is much appreciated when you are trying to experience paradise.
There are plenty of different buffets and restaurants that you can choose from. I highly suggest Maki Taco and Careyes!

Grand Oasis Cancun: Something for Everyone!
I stayed at the Grand Oasis Cancun for 7 nights between Jan. 26 and Feb. 2nd. I found the staff to be very accommodating. For a large resort, we found that the wait times for food/drinks was very reasonable ie. 5-10min max. The pool area was also good letting you pick between loud music and contests down to a quiet pool that even had a swim up bar! My only issue was the room/balcony was quiet tiny and dated. I got over that quickly as the rest of the resort made up for it.

Oh Cancun The Urban Oasis: OH!...NO!...bring ear plugs and ear muffs or go deaf
This is by far the noisiest hotel i have ever stayed at. i stayed from jan 26 to feb 2, 2017
Traffic:
the hotel is situated near the busiest intersection of central cancun that connects three major arterial roads. there is a constant roar of mufferless heavy trucks, buses, taxis, motorcycles...etc. there are 8 lanes of traffic directly in front of the hotel and not just passing by, but the stop and go of accelerating and then squealing brakes. traffic starts early in the morning and continue[... read more]s on to 20:00hrs plus at night. if you have a street facing room...you're toast.
The crazy hot coyote disco/sports bar/night club:
loud thumping music starts early in the evening and goes on to 23:00hrs. the bar was mostly empty the week that i was there, so they must be losing money on that venue. if you have a room near the club, be prepared to be lifted out of bed by the trumping beat. this is a basic problem if you're staying at the OH section. avoid room 25 (just beside and above the bar and facing the street), because if you get that room...you're a goner...as in gone crazy without rest...i guess that's were the name "crazy" coyote comes from.
The pool side Rave music.
i was first placed in room 25 and spent the first night there and immediately asked for a change the next day. staff was attentive and moved me to the "quiet side" facing the pool...but not so quiet. I was at first relieved to be away from the traffic and the crazy bar when moved to room 47. the morning was like an oasis of tranquility because the building and trees act like a sound barrier and the traffic becomes an acceptable dull roar, but that afternoon it all changed due to the boom boom music of the pool stage.
starting around 13:00 the racket didn't stop until 22:00...boom boom boom boom...all day long and all week long. not that there was anyone listening to the noise. the clientele was mostly older people and no one was dancing...except the two juniors who were making all the noise. it was so noisy that i would not eat at the pool side restaurants and i abandoned the hotel during the day to seek refuge at one of the sister hotels. requests to stop or lower the volume fell on deaf ears...maybe deaf because of the boom boom music.
who ever hear of a disco tech/rave concert in the middle of an oasis? well you have now and if you want to experience that, book a week here...you're guaranteed to regret it.
The rattling A/C unit:
think you can lessen the boom boom music noise by closing the patio doors? no solution there. the room will heat up quickly because of the noon day sun facing the pool side of the building. the a/c unit's bearings are worn out. the racket coming from that unit will wake the dead. and if you don't turn it on you're going to cook. that's where the "hot" part of crazy hot coyote comes from.
this was not just a issue with rooms 47 and 25 but there were workers changing/fixing the a/c units at other rooms as well. if you try to enjoy some fresh air by opening the balcony door...boom boom boom is in your room.
another issue with the a/c unit is that the water exhaust makes the balcony wet the whole time. on room 47 the water was left to flow across the balcony to the drain on the other end of the balcony, while on room 25 they tried to do something about it and there is a plastic pipe across the middle of the balcony directing the water to the drain at the opposite end. be careful not to trip.
Not all bad:
If you can handle all of that. then by all means you'll have a good holiday because the rooms themselves are modern and tastefully done. the bedding was terrific. maid service was excellent, with a nightly turn down service and little chocolates left by the staff. the decor around the hotel is zen like and inviting. the pool area is beautiful and the night lighting is very romantic. the breakfast buffet was more than acceptable and service is great. (accept getting a good tea, which is a mexico problem, so bring your own tea bags)
there's lots of security guards all over the hotel, so there no worries there. the staff is very helpful (as are all mexicans). the central location is marvelous, close to buses, shopping centers, food markets, hospitals...exploring cancun was a real adventure. i loved it.
Restaurants:
restaurants are everywhere, with all types of food, and lots close to the hotel. eating with the mexicians is almost free because of the low cost. i like mexican food, so eating at a cantina was normal. there are no skinny mexicans and i take from that the food is all good, so there's no reason for you to be hungry. if you wish to have a change in diet then there is every kind of american fast food type you can imagine.
Transportation:
public buses were 11 pesos and run late into the night. taxis will first give you gringo pricing, which mean you need to negotiate. walmart from the hotel was 30 peso, but the driver started out at 50...maybe 30 was too much. of course it's healthier to walk, but look out for the sidewalk and their broken pavement. this is caused mostly by tree roots up heaving the cement rather than age caused disrepair.
the beach bus:
the beach shuttle takes about 30 minutes and there are two choices to go to, both sister omni hotels. i found the oasis cancun the better of the two hotels. i've stayed there three times before so i knew my way around. leaving the downtown oasis at 10:30 and 12:00 and returning at 16:00, 17:30 and 18:00.
the bottom line is:
COME ON OASIS...you can do better than that! oasis has the right employee team, a good building, a central location but management has cancelled all the positives by creating the noise problems. instead of dealing with the road noise, management has added to the problem. close the crazy hot coyote, no one is coming there anyway. get rid of the pool DJ boom boom music and put on a nature music CD, you'll save money on the DJs.
I spoke to numerous managers during my stay, all to no avail. i like the oasis hotel chain, but at the OH they have a hotel that gives them a bad name. if nothing is done this hotel is headed for bankruptcy and you'll all be out of a job. too bad for the hard working employees because it's not their fault.
i would not return unless the noise issues were address and i can not recommend this hotel.

Occidental Costa Cancun: Great week at Occidental Costa Cancun! January 30-February 6, 2017.
We have nothing but goods things to say about Occidental Costa Cancun. We booked a last minute trip, so it was a super saver room which was a little scary, but we were pleasantly surprised. The room was clean, the bed was comfortable, and they restocked the mini fridge daily with Corona, Corona light, assorted soft drinks and bottled water. The cleaned the room daily and replaced the linens in the bathroom daily. There was plenty of hot water. The grounds were well kept as were the public washro[... read more]oms( cleaned several times daily). The food at the buffet was good and plentiful. The Oriental, Italian, and Mexican A La Carte restaurants were good as well ( you have to make reservations at the A La Carte restaurants so you have to been at the front desk by 7:00 am to get an early seating for dinner).
We would not hesitate to recommend Occidental Costa Cancun to our family and friends.

Grand Oasis Cancun: Everything I expected - Awesome place!
Where should I start. After reading the reviews online, I was hesitant to stay at the Grand Oasis. I would like to say do not read or believe the negative reviews because they are probably written by miserable people. This place does not disasspoint. It caters to everyone - young and old. This hotel is a compound and it has so much stuff to do all the time. The beach, entertainment, drinks, food, room, and staff we're phenomenal. I highly recommend this hotel to everyone.

All Ritmo Cancun Resort And Waterpark: Great resort for the family with kids
We vacationed with 2 kids and everything was very enjoyable. The only thing that we didn't like were the room and especially the extra beds. The mattresses were too old and uncomfortable. The room itself was clean but in need of reno. However, it didn't matter much - we still enjoyed our stay and would recommend this resort.

NYX Hotel Cancun: Amazing beach/resort
Suites were very nice, balcony overlooking pool and ocean. Beautiful, best part of day on balcony with coffee👌. A small band in the lounge daily for entertainment. Staff awesome, Vania on front desk, jimmy bellboy and wait staff. Very clean. We counted 33 steps from lounge to pool etc. Minutes from mall indoor market, very big. Never had to fight for chair lots. Great place to go not too big. A little quieter!🌴ðŸ·

Grand Oasis Cancun: Grand Oasis
The resort was pretty much exactly what we were expecting for our honeymoon. Beautiful grounds, huge variety for bars and restaurants, but lacking in customer service. Not exactly "all inclusive". We upgraded when we arrived so that we could experience the entire resort, and not be limited to certain restaurants.

Excellence Playa Mujeres: Very nice resort
This is our third visit to EPM in the last 6 years and we were not disappointed. The grounds, pools, rooms, restaurants and bars are really 5 star. The beach seemed improved this visit likely due to the fact that another resort was built just north of it. They groom the beach regularly and you can tell. All the staff are very friendly. Being only a short 20 minutes to the Cancun Airport makes it excellent as well.

Crown Paradise Club Cancun: Good Family Trip - Some Highs and Lows
We planned a trip for a family of 10 (3 families). We picked this one knowing it was not top of the line - but, not a lousy resort either.
We arrived at noon and not a long line for the check in process. They had one of the three rooms ready. We had asked for the rooms to be in a row. They put two in a row and one far down the other side the building. It was frustrating that WE had to suggest a solution where all they had to do was research and see a spot opening up next to my family (3rd ro[... read more]om) on the Saturday. So we asked to schedule the move. The move was done and a slight hassle - however, not taking it away from the trip. however, the attitude of the front desk I found very unhappy to be there. I lost a pair of sandals and shirt - they did not seem to care and did a poor job of checking lost and found.
Both rooms we had were great and on the other side facing the broken down hurricane destroyed resort which was quieter and we had no issues.
Petra for the first 2 days and Guatelupe for the last 5 were the best part of the resort. The cleaning aspect was perfect and the towel animals my kids loved. They always were smiling and we appreciated them the most of our stay.
I found it a little frustrating the towel process. You are given 4 cards to cash in for towels. The whole process to stress about not losing your towels to avoid a fee is a little distracting from the leisure of the vacation. As well you need to go down at 630am to book chairs or by 8am your out of luck. Another area of stress for your "stress-less" vacation.
The pools were all cold except the adults only which is an issue for many. It was not the fact they were cold - they were un-swimmable. What resort has pools that you cannot enjoy. This was a MAJOR turn off. The ocean was warmer and did most of our swimming there. The ocean is awesome and beach fantastic. We did try the adult pool and that was cold - however, by 1-2pm the side mini pools were very warm and enjoyed those.
I found some of the bartenders crabby and unhappy. Some were ok - however, most were a little edgy which was surprising.
Props to Luiz in the towel centre - he was always happy and very nice to deal with.
Restaurants the family experienced all of them and they are better than buffet. Major love for the crab cakes in Wayne's boot and the Cannelloni with seafood in the Fisherman place.
The kids club was great - my kids did not have a lot of love during the day. However, appreciated the evening programs from 7-9 where they camp out, do a Disney night, etc and they even took them to the evening show - quite a nice treat for the adults to have some time. Waterpark is great in kids club - just again ICE COLD.
The resort we felt was poorly laid out as they had numerous areas that were empty and could have been utilized for something. However, we played a little basketball and tennis - no complaints here. Should have them both closer together though.
The food is pointless to review because everyone has different tastes and to each their own. I will say the food was good - not great in the buffet. Weird taste to the juices, milk and some foods. So I drank pop most of the time and water. A lot of empty areas in the buffet as well which did not make sense. However, on the plus side the taco, crepe and pasta stations were always the family favourites and kept coming back for more.
The funniest thing is bacon was sometimes out and sometimes not - we had to ask the chef (for the secret stash of bacon). We joked about a bacon shortage lol.
Gym I used daily and have no complaints. They did have some machines down for the whole week. Come on guys letting a resort not fix something for over a week - that is a reflection in the strong negative side.
Overall the family had a good time. We cannot complain and despite some of the negatives - I still rated this a 4/5
Suggestions that will never be addressed:
- heat at least one of the MAIN pools to a better temperature
- change the whole towel system and chair booking process
- move the basketball and tennis closer together
- make sure the front reception is staffed with more positive people
- incorporate the wristband with being able to open the room door
This is a dated resort and it does show it. However, still a good choice and only if they would implement a few things - I would consider going back. There are more options out there and more experiences to have. So they did not do enough to bring me back to this resort. However, as long as you keep your expectations relaxed you will have a great time.
OH PS.... The Ice Cream in the buffet is awesome!!!!
