Barcelo Ixtapa: Affordable but dated

This was our fourth trip to Mexico, first visit to Ixtapa and Zihuatenejo, but out 2nd time at a Barcelo property. Property - 3/5 The resort is quite dated. Bathrooms and balconies are tiny, paint needs updating (not a big job) and all the upholstery in the restaurants needs replacing. Pools are nice, not very cold, and of course you have to play the towel game or you'll never find a spot around the pool. Staff - 4/5 The majority of the staff were pleasant, attentive and helpful but som [... read more]e of the buffet staff completely ignored you if you didn't have a gold bracelet. Alexis at the lobby bar was awesome! Food - 3/5 There was lots of food at the buffets, but not all of it was presented well or looked particularly appealing. Great breakfast buffets with both Mexican and American choices, the lunch buffets, not so much and most "American" choices were overcooked or cold, but you could get a burger if that was your thing. The a la carte restaurant choices were terrible. They either weren't open, or they speed-dined you in and out. You need to book at 9am which means you can't leave early for anything if you want to book one. Beverages - 3/5 Both the available red and white wines were barely palpable, and if you didn't ask for your hard liquor or beer by name, you got the cheap or watered down versions. Never once got a decent margarita from the bar! We did the sunset cruise and it was excellent, highly recommend, and the beach is amazing!! It is a great location with the shopping 'centre' of Ixtapa just a short walk away, and a taxi to the Zihua pier was only 160 pesos. We had a good week, but won't stay at this Barcelo property again.

Bahia Principe Escape Sian Ka'an: Good resort.

The hotel needs some updating. Lots of paint peeling in the bathrooms and the shower in our room needed to be updated. The biggest problem we had was the slow service in the hotel. This is not a five star hotel. I would rate as a 4 star.

Bahia Principe Explore Akumal: Great Staff at this resort

The rooms are a bit dated if you get the junior suite, but they do the trick. Good for sleeping and getting ready for the day. The food was great. You will not go hungry here. The service staff were amazing. Always attentive. Don’t fall for the privilege club sales pitch. Unless you have tens of thousands to spend to be a member and want to waste your time in the sun being hounded. Say no thank you and move on. Great pools. Always can find a spot. Massages in the spa were amazing.

Barcelo Maya Riviera: We loved this resort!

Rooms were beautiful. hotel is very modern not the fun tropical vibe of the other barcelo resorts. We enjoyed being able to walk through all 6 resorts and trying some of the other restaurants. Being in the adult only was nice - quieter dining, beach and pool weren't as busy. Food was fantastic. Pools. Beach and gardens were beautiful. Would 100% recommend this resort and would return in the future. .

Riu Tequila: Riu Tequila: Still Awesome

This resort to me is still truly awesome. Location is excellent, heavily secure gated community in the heart of Playacar. The facilities are showing a little of its experience. but all in all I believe it adds character and ambience of a well-established resort. STAFF is still biggest asset. They are so friendly, polite, helpful and aid in helping you feel comfortable, secure and happy. Beach is a very short walk away or shuttle service is offered. 150 pesos gets you taxi service to the famous 5th avenue, Music and entertainment is still very colorful and energetic. Very very easy place to relax and unwind or to dance and party. I shall return!!!

Catalonia Grand Costa Mujeres: Excellent Resot

Beautiful resort. Beach is excellent. Food and drinks were excellent. Service all over the resort was excellent. Really enjoyed the lattes at the coffee shop each morning. The resort has a little bit of everything. Had a great, relaxing stay.

Dreams Riviera Cancun: NOT A 5 STAR!!

Staff was fantastic, grounds very well kept, FOOD WAS LACKING, BUFFET WAS HORRIBLE. Alcohol selection was good to very good, but not exceptional. Would hesitate to visit another Dreams property since The Hyatt has become involved. Just not deserving of a 5 star rating.

Iberostar Selection Cancun: Great vacation

Nice hotel Clean hotel . Room was very clean food was ok beach you could not walk or swim due to coral and rocks Drink selection could be better Great staff very helpful I have been three times I will not be back due to the poor upkeep of hotel . Very dated

Hyatt Zilara Riviera Maya: Incredible!

My husband, two friends and I just returned from 7 days at this resort. For my husband and I, it was our first time staying at an all inclusive resort, but our friends had been to multiple in the past, just to give some context! We had an incredible time and can't wait to go back! Pro's: - Rooms are stunning and very comfortable - Food in general was of excellent quality. Water is warm and the swells were not too big when we were there - We loved the entertainment! Especially the silent disco, the "rock show", and the newlywed game. The entertainment team are hilarious and take time to remember you! - The pool and pool bar were so great. An excellent vibe, not too much of a party atmosphere but also not too quiet and boring. The pool was the perfect temperature. - Lots of loungers, we never struggled to find 4 together even later in the morning - Room service was awesome, they definitely read the "comments" and made sure you got what you wanted - The staff were friendly and knowledgeable, and made you feel very much like you were a special guest. I also witnessed lots of laughing and banter between staff, and they were very strict on their shift ending times which makes me think they are treated very well, which was important to my group and part of the reason why I had never been to an all inclusive - The coffee shop was awesome and a really nice touch - The rooms were kept spotlessly clean by housekeeping - Check in was smooth and fast, as was check out Cons: - I am vegan, and although there were definitely more vegan options than I expected, there was still very little. Some restaurants had absolutely zero options. Most places did make me something special though. - There are technically only 4 restaurants for dinner, and they aren't all open at the same time. Over the busier weekend period, this meant we were waiting for a long time to eat. This was a bit of an issue for me, the vegan, as I couldn't just grab snacks from the coffee shop - You can not eat on your balcony at all. This is not the resorts fault, this is because you get absolutely surrounded by very brave large birds!! It's cool if you like wildlife, but somewhat unsettling! - Our friends were in room 406 and they had absolutely no view. As in, they were looking at a wall. Their room was also very noisy. Our room, 247, was great and actually had a view of the sea without paying the extra price! - The moment you check in, a very nice and not very pushy person (genuinely!) approaches you about going to "not a timeshare" presentation the next day, in exchange for lots of vouchers. We did not go, but we talked to someone who did and they said that the "not timeshare" was absolutely ridiculously expensive ($450k USD!!!) and they were kept for much longer than the 1.5hrs promised. - The liquor was definitely watered down. Even brand name did not look or taste the same which was unfortunate. The cocktails are good for the most part, but they don't live up to expectations due to the weak liquor. It definitely affects the taste. If you are someone who enjoys cocktail bars, these will be a let down. Overall, we had a fantastic time and it served exactly the purpose we wanted: it was relaxing and super fun, and we met really amazing people. The size of the resort was such a huge plus as it really felt personal. I will definitely be returning!

Catalonia Royal Tulum: Lovely Resort

The best features of this resort are the beautiful beach and friendly staff! It's a quiet resort set in the jungle with lots of wildlife to enjoy. The resort is very clean and well maintained. Beloved is the best restaurant with good food - our favourite was the skirt steak. However, Beloved has a leisurely pace so not the place to go if you are in a hurry. The privilege deluxe room was nice and the bathroom has great counter space. However the water pressure in the shower is low and hot water was not consistently available in our room. Also the air conditioning in our room seemed inadequate.The indoor restaurants were also quite warm. Our biggest concern was the lack of hot water to shower. I think there is also room for improvement with food.

Sensira Resort and Spa: Overall good stay

Great things about this resort .. easy to navigate , clean rooms , fun activities for kids , staff working very hard ,beautiful view from room that I didn’t pay extra for , food was over all good , close to airport , tea house wonderful coffee and ice cream Negatives: pools could have been warmed more ( not sure if it was the time of year /cooler snap), could have been more people cleaning plates and dishes around pool, only hot tub on adults side, seaweed issue /smaller beach

Bahia Principe Explore Tulum: Amazing resort

My review of the resort is a little long, When i booked this resort, I started to read reviews on different sites and at times made me concerned but did not change as I remember that so many people complain about almost everything. So at the airport it was about 45 minutes to get through immigration and 45 for luggage. We then went and looked for Canada Transfer(highly recommend) and off we went. DO NOT look at the weather forecast as it can change every 20 minutes, yes we had cloud, rain and tons of sun and the wind was storng most days. The main pool was our to go area 1st few days but then we stayed in the area but went to the pool above the main and was quiet but you could still here the music which was nice. The entertainment staff(Erick, Alejandro) make it so fun for all guest of all ages and are a huge asset to this resort. The beach was very nice and I would say if you want water shoes use them but I found you will be just fine if you don't have them, also very little seaweed most days, the last 2 days there it was bad due to the very strong winds but they are cleaning before the sun is up and do the best they can. The food was good, we did 3 al a cartes, 1st was mikado and the food was just okay but the chef was a 10/10 forgot his name. 2nd was tequila and i was not a fan but my wife said 10/10 and 3rd was Don Pablo and would give it a 10/10 and staff were very good. The buffet Yukatan was good, had so much choice and never ran out of food like some people have said in reviews. We had Edwin almost every meal we had there and he makes it even better as he treats you like his own family. We did the bracelet upgrade for use of all resorts and I would say if you need it do or just book Akumal to start with, I was giving a deal but did not use it enough as we had more than enough stuff to do at Tulum. Also the animals are everywhere but makes the trip to see them and never felt on safe as they leave you alone and you leave them alone. So to end this review off, is this a 5* resort no, but I would give a huge 4* and if you are on the fence ignore everything you read and go as you will regret not going as this was our 1st time in Mexico and would come back for sure to this resort. Bahia Principe Explore Coba: Love tripcentral.ca and how they organize their site

I really appreciate 'tripcentral'. It was easy to select a trip and hotel because of how they lay out their data. I'll never use another site. We were also assigned an agent Jim O'Neill that we personally worked with. He was fantastic and guided us every step of the way and also provided us additional information. Hotel was the best experience I ever had. The food was incredible and everything else!

Valentin Imperial Riviera Maya: Beautiful place!

Gorgeous resort with natural setting. Food is next level 10/10 Service is 10/10 Love the cafe…I mean I really miss having a cup of coffee there in the morning! The beach is beautiful, sometimes rocky but I recommend water shoes which I did have. Overall, a great experience!

Krystal Grand Puerto Vallarta: 1 week at Krystal Puerto Vallarta

relatively small resort. easy to get around as we travelled with people who had mobility issues.We hadgreat views from our oceanfront rooms on the 8th floor. The food was pretty good on the buffet,and we enjoyed the specialty restaurants. The staff was amazing, hard working and friendly. The only problem we encountered was the lack of lounge chairs poolside.

Grand Sirenis Riviera Maya: Back to Back

Grounds - excellent, beach..excellent, room..excellent, food choice..excellent, room cleaning ...excellent, transportation to resort was preferred because it was a large 40 passenger bus which is a very safe method, transportation to airport was a small van which is not preferred as it not as safe. Will book again but since it will probably be the third time in a row we are not receiving a benefit for this...anything trip central can do for us?

Playa Mazatlan: Nice vacation

Check in was smooth, Room was very clean with a great view of the ocean. Food was decent. A la cartes were really good. Ocean was chilly to swim but lovely to walk. Always easy to find seating. Pools sucked. Bands playing on beach were nasty on the Saturday but otherwise tolerable. Met lots of super nice people from US and Canada. Henry the beach vendor was a terrific and very friendly guy who remembered everyone.

Decameron Isla Coral: First time to Guayabitos

We stayed at Isla Coral Jan22-29,2025 The hotel is a little dated but clean. The buffet was good some mornings they were out of eggs by 9am. The lobby bartender Jorge was amazing and very knowledgeable about the area and resort. Carmen in the buffet was very friendly and spoke pretty good English The entertainment was lacking The pool was extremely cold and only got sunshine a few hours in the morning. Valentin Imperial Riviera Maya: Amazing resort, it won’t disappoint

Beautiful lush grounds, top notch liquor, food and service. Rooms have been updated as well as restaurants. Beautiful clean beach but some rocky spots so not appropriate for swimming. Entertainment in evening was awesome from shows to live music in the courtyard. Average age of clientele is 40-70. Dress code enforced at restaurants. Staff go above and beyond to make you feel at home ! You can find a quiet spot or be a part of the action!

Royal Hideaway Playacar: Wonderful relaxing stay!

This small resort was recommended to us by our Tripcentral Agent, Jenn Black, and we were so glad she did! We are not folks that normally enjoy an all inclusive vacation. However, we needed a quick break from Nova Scotia and this one ticked all the boxes. It was a great vacation, relaxing, good food, quiet with a pleasing stretch of beach to enjoy a good book and go for a swim.
