Villa Lindamar: Lovely place

53 small bungalows set in a beautiful seaside setting. Breakfast and lunch was served out side, dinner in the main dining room. The sea was very active during our stay except for one glorious day that allowed for swimming. We took advantage of the free shuttle to Sirena Beach, calm water, very worthwhile. Excellent staff, we felt very well taken care of and hope to return next year

Melia Cayo Coco: Great Resort

We returned to the Melia Cayo Coco for second time and enjoyed it thoroughly. A small resort, only 250 rooms, adults only, and mostly Canadians. The staff were amazing and the food plentiful. A little windy this trip, so more time spent at the pool than the beach. They are undergoing renovations and can’t wait to see the end result. Hopefully, next April.

Vila Gale Cayo Paredon: Great Place to Try

Pros: Close to airport, approx 35 minute bus ride. Beach was beautiful and the best part of our stay. Never a problem finding loungers. Our room was in a great location, overlooking the main pool. We avoided it as much as we could. Through no fault of the workers, they had to deal with drink and food shortages. There was no shortage of mint for mojitos but they had no soda water or lime juice, so they used green lime drink mix. It was drinkable, but definitely not a Cuban mojito. Not a complaint necessarily just an observation. Overall, we would absolutely return but would really like to see improvements to the buffet temperature

Valentin Cayo Cruz: What an utterly gorgeous resort, peaceful, fantastic beach.

This was my first Cuban trip to anywhere but Varadero (which I also loved). The bus trip from the Cayo Coco airport is an hour, which is not bad. It was the massive inifinity pool that sold me in the advert for the Valentin hotel itself. That pool and the ocean in the background charmed me every day several times a day. Several of the staff at the resort really stood out with their customer service and ready smile - Bruglio (spelled wrong but he'll know who I mean) and Yulia (name is wrong but s [... read more]he'll know who I mean) were fantastic on the lobby bar. The beach is a combination of coral rock and white sand the texture of flour, probably effected by persistent strong winds that come in from the ocean and can make the temperature feel much cooler than it is. The coral rock is home to several species, including a large crab we found and (probably hundreds in total) several iguanas. Valentin Cayo Cruz is the closest resort to the coral rock where these creatures live, and people walked from miles up the beach every morning hoping to catch a glimpse, so it was a treat to have it right at our disposal. The open lobby is massive and beautiful with glossy white tile floors and tons of seating. Dining was what it normally is in Cuba - tomatoes, cucumbers, cabbage, lots of rice and beans, cooked mixed vegetables with a tangy sauce (quite good), sweet potato (green - again very good), "pumpkin" (squash - also great, for those of us who appreciate fresh vegetables), fresh fish, mussels, shrimp on the griddle (or everything omelets cooked to order at breakfast), and lots of roasted chicken legs and pork. Not a ton of deep fried stuff, which I also appreciated for a vacation, but some people...you know. :) Rooms were neat and tidy and had recently been renovated in a modern style. We had a ground floor room which gave us our own walk out patio looking onto a big field full of tropical plants that separates the hotel from the ocean - like a lovely private back yard. Overall, I was completely charmed by this resort and will definitely go back.

Royalton Hicacos Resort and Spa: Highly overrated resort!

It is difficult to find what should be first topic to discuss. In general, to assign star rating, several factors should be considered and compared across travel industry, including at least Cuba, Dominican Republic and Mexico (most common destinations for Canadians). No excuse should be given for embargo, political reasons/government, etc. As such, I would give to Royalton Hicacos 3 star rating at the best. Our room was in is quite area with a small pool nearby and over our stay only once water was added to the pool and it was cleaned once at the same time. There is no water circulation at all. Mattresses and pillows are very dirty, perhaps from the time the resort was built. Towels and bath robes were with untreated stain spots and room service was irregular. There is lack of everything-food, beverages, even ice from time to time. Food is especially limited to chopped salads (cabbage, zucchini, tomatoes), proteins-chicken drumsticks as the best option, some grilled chicken breast strips, pork and simple fish. Our return flight by Sunwing was delayed and rerouted through Punta Cana (shortage of fuel and defects with aircraft) and we arrived to Toronto almost 24 hours behind the schedule. In Punta Cana, Sunwing arranged our rest (only a few hours but thanks for that) in Paradisus Grand Cana resort and this resort was huge contrast with Royalton providing impression what 5 star resort is about. Everything was exceptional and I will not think a second to recommend this resort. Lots negative can be said about Royalton for exception of the beach. I summary, when Tour Operators provide information about destinations/resorts including star rating, it would be good to arrange a tour for their staff to have better verified information on resort conditions and service.

Grand Aston Cayo Paredon Beach Resort: We will be back next year!

Hotel was good. Not a lot of water pressure in the shower and strange shower set up and we asked for a remote for theTV twice and never did get one all week. Also, a flat sheet on bed would be nice. Other than that, pretty good

Memories Jibacoa: Great resort !!!

Such a cute little quaint resort!!! Food really not that bad and it was our first trip to Cuba. The a la carte restaurant 'The Gourmet' must be hands down the best resort restaurant I've ever been to and I've been to Punta Cana and Mexico. The salmon there was top notch and smoked salmon very yummy. The seating at the beach area was amazing, the lady walking (darn, forget her name!) that was walking around getting our drinks was awesome and so friendly! Room was great, no bugs, great balcony, AC was awesome, but unfortunately bathroom started leaking so they had us move to another room with a newer AC but it was much louder so I was missing our original room. The food in the buffets was just okay but nothing to complain about, one won't leave hungry. The ice cream is fabulous, the chocolate one is so rich, we made sure to have some everyday. We did a day trip to Havana to see old Havana and new Havana, it was definitely worth renting a classic car and taking 6 hours to do this. See Jenny at the Diamond Club and she'll set you up with the driver Givran and the tour guide Giselle. My God did she ever know her Cuban history, we learned so many interesting things and the ride was so smooth and enjoyable and they had AC in it whereas I heard other cars, the drivers weren't putting it on for their guests, not sure why. All in all, a fantastic trip and I would actually go back! :) The ocean was not inviting though unfortunately, too much slimy seaweed and rocks so we never went in. But I enjoyed the one pool at least, a nice adult resort. : )

Hotel Roc Casa del Mar: Beautiful Resort only 8 years old

This resort is huge and quite beautiful. The grounds are very well maintained and the staff are amazing. Special shout out to Manuel and Julio for making us feel so welcome. The beach is breathtaking, we had so much fun playing in the waves. The food was great, no shortages that we were aware of :) Although large, this resort is in desperate need of more guests, it was very quiet while we were there so the a la cartes were closed as well as some of the other advertised amenities. If you are looking for a very quiet beautiful place this may be the perfect spot for you.

Melia Cayo Coco: Excellent Resort and Amazing Staff

Rooms are dated but renovations are to start in July. Grounds are well maintained. The beach is fantastic. There is no shortage of food. All employees are really welcoming. It feels like home away from home.

Playa Pesquero: Excellent service

Love playa pesquero, went for a week, stayed in the premium hotel adults only, excellent service fantastic food, i couldn’t ask for more my second time at Premium, beautiful beaches nice and clean, pool super clean, staff always so happy and willing to please you. Thanks for beautiful week

Memories Flamenco Beach Resort: Excellent resort

After reading negative reviews I was worried. The food was the best I’ve had in Cuba in many years. Resort was clean, rooms were clean although dated. The pool was fantastic and beach breathtaking. I never wanted for anything all week. Would return again in the future.

Valentin Perla Blanca: Awful!

I have been to this resort in 2016 and 2018, on my return end of April 2024 it was a huge surprise how run down the resort is. First off, we new there may be shortages, but not the amount we received (no toilet paper most time, same food breakfast, lunch and dinner, nothing to drink other than coke, rum usually only had dark, whisky and juice - that’s it - half the time they didn’t have enough water to give you). The customer service was absolutely horrible! We make the best out of the t [... read more]rip and understood the shortages, but when going off resort to others they had everything that this resort said there are shortages. We booked a late check out and upon going to our room on the last day, they said we didn’t. Front reception didn’t want to give the keys back and said we had to pay per hour, even though we were told we would have no charge due to my third time returning. After speaking with customer service, she automatically was yelling at me when I was explaining what we were told by the other representative and said that would never be said. And expected me to tell her the other representative name and what she looked like. Front reception said customer service didn’t tell them and that’s our job to do that. Lastly, when we finally checked out after having to rush to pack up our things (thinking we had late check out) they cut our access to the wifi and said sorry your checked out (we still have 3.5 hours before the bus was going to pick us up). The pool with swim up pool bar was yellow, and no sheets were ever changed the entire we we were there, half the time we didn’t have any shower towels either. Much more has happened and more to be said, but ultimately this resort needs to shut down, absolutely awful!

Tryp Cayo Coco: Great week at the tryp

Was at the tryp 30 till may 7th was my 40 time there the staff are so caring and helpfull no shortage s in food or drinks my room was good clean everyday and of course the best beach lots of chairs I would recommend this resort 15 minutes from the airport to thankyou to all staff see you soon

Everything was great. Go with a positive attitude and appreciate the awesome beach, staff. Did not notice any shortages in food etc that we saw on other posts. Looking to go back next year. We felt very safe at this resort with no shortage of staff willing to help you . Just by the amount of return guests will tell you they are doing something right .We will defiantly be looking to book this Resort again

Melia Cayo Santa Maria: Hotdogs get your hotdogs

Beach and pool excellent. Very relaxing, never felt crowded at either beach or pool as resort was not too busy. Service was very friendly and for the most part prompt. Room are dated but clean. Nightly entertainment is good, but repetitive. The food Oh the food. It was by far the worst part of the trip. Unless you love hotdog. Hotdogs are serve with EVERYTHING!!!

Grand Aston Varadero Beach Resort: Beautiful New Resort

The hotel is beautiful. Rooms are very nice, beds comfortable. Our room was facing the highway traffic was quite loud in the mornings. Our friends were upgraded to oceanview and it was spectacular. Buffet and a la cartes were very good. I understand what to expect from Cuba in regards to food and this was the best I have had while visiting this beautiful country. Melia Varadero: Beautiful Resort

We absolutely love Melia Varadero. We were there 20 years ago and the updates at the hotel were stunning. The beach is beautiful and the staff work so hard making sure the resort and grounds are kept beautiful. Staff always friendly and helpful. They worked so hard at making Cuban Fun Day a great day.Definitely will be making this a yearly trip to the Melia.

This resort is truly number1 in our hearts and never disappoints. This was our 9th visit to this resort and we were thrilled as always. No shortage of food or drink. Property maintenance it meticulous. Clean, fresh and beautiful. The staff are exceptional and bend over backwards to ensure you are happy. That is everyone from waiters to managers to the gardeners. Hotel Playa Paraiso: Fabulous vacation

We had an amazing time at this resort the week of April 28. Our flight with air transat was fantastic and we thoroughly enjoyed the experience. We have travelled to Cayo coco numerous times but never to this resort, but we will be back. There were no shortages to speak of.. we had lots of drinks to choose from, tons of selection at the buffet and amazing experiences at all of the a la cartes.
