Serenade All Suites Adults Only Resort: 10 pleasant days at a nice resort July 13 -23 - travelled as a couple

Genuinely friendly staff throughout this new resort which is located approx 30 minutes from the airport . Weather was hot and steamy with maybe 10 minutes of rain for our entire stay . Rooms were comfortable with plenty of storage space and ac worked fine .No towel game here , plenty of palapas and padded loungers on the beach and poolside with towels always available and an attentive wait staff who ensured we remained properly hydrated through the day. Entertainment on the adult side was sporadic and you were obliged to move to the family side for regular shows. Would I return - yes , any hotel where a bottle of rum in the gift shop is cheaper than the sunscreen is ok by me. Not related to the hotel stay but curiously no one in arrivals or departures from the DR showed the slightest interest in the scannable qr label which we were asked to provide when entering or leaving the country

Lopesan Costa Bavaro Resort: Amazing resort

I had an amazing time the facilities were well kept and clean. AC in the room was very good. Poole were very clean. Food was okay definitely not the best but good for what it is. Breakfast and the Italian restaurant was my favourite. Beach was well kept and staff was very nice. If you do not speak Spanish there will obviously be a but of language barrier but overall great stay. Would definitely go back

Sunscape Dominicus La Romana: 4 hours check-in

After an hour drive from airport to the hotel they made us wait to check-in our room for 4 hours! it was awful! Whenever we asked the reception desk they would asked me if I need help as I was the client has jsut arrived and they telling over and over again “wait” and they go hiding into the reception rooms.. Hyatt Vivid Punta Cana: Beautiful Location, Great Service.... Food Mediocre.

I will start out by saying the resort is Beautiful and the grounds are spotless! Staff are extremely hard working and go above and beyond to make sure you are happy. Could not be happier with the way we were treated here. I will break down everything below in categories. Rooms : Rooms are pretty typical for a Caribbean room. Beautiful and clean. However they may be ageing and starting to have some issues. We had troubles with our first room. The AC didn't work, sink was clogged, toilet pa [... read more]per wall hanger was constantly falling off the wall, Phone didn't work and the front door wouldn't latch closed (security issue). After a couple days of dealing with these things we requested a room change. They promptly switched us over and the second room was much better...Also the resort seems to have a master control over the temperature you set in your room. We wanted to be 21-22 degrees. The room never got cooler then 25.5 degrees. Sometimes it would go as high as 28 degrees! This was the same in Both rooms we stayed (different buildings). So we were disappointed with this and the more we read into things it does seem the resort restricts the temperature. Also we were unaware that they do not flush toilet paper here. It is placed into a can beside the toilet... Should have been some kind of warning or notice in advance. Did not enjoy this. All that said, the rooms were nice and beds were comfortable. The cleaning staff were great. 4/5 for the rooms. Service : Excellent Service. We felt like we were being specially cared for the entire stay. Staff were attentive and Happy! 5/5 Stars for sure on Service. Food : Food was mediocre. They present the food well... But if you are a Foodie (like Me) you may be underwhelmed. The Buffet is what you would expect but has very little meat. You can go to a station and they will cook some for you but it is low quality and not plentiful. Meal portions when you dine in the restaurants are Very Small. Appetizers are literally 1-2 bites... no joke, 1-2 bites. Main course was actually tasty but also very small portions. Most resorts I have been to are better laid out and have more locations for you to grab a burger or finger foods... there was 1 hut on the beach that nobody noticed. it was hidden behind bushes. Apart from that you were waiting for the main dining halls to open. Also i have a 5 year old son... they had almost no "North American" style kids meals on the menu. Burgers, hot tugs, french fries and chicken nuggets had to be asked for as they were not on the menu anywhere. Also would have been nice to have an Ice Cream station accessible for the Kids. Never found one outside of the single machine in the buffet. 2.5/5 Stars Shopping : As always on the resort shopping is TOO EXPENSIVE. Do not buy Cigars here as you can buy 5x the amount just outside for the same price. High pressure as expected. The staff would always say "Im not here tomorrow, you have to buy today from me"... But you would stop by the next day and magically they were still at work. As a Retail Store owner i do not like this behavior. Off site shopping.. We took the shuttles provided as we wanted to do some "authentic shopping" as we were searching for souvenirs. We explained several times what we wanted and were told to take the provided shuttle at "such and such a time". They took us to a large modern mall... many of the stored were what you would see in Canada or the USA... was not worth it. There is a market a short walk up the road... but they are also jacking prices sky high and are difficult to negotiate with. It is however located beside a police station so is quite safe. Lots of clothes and trinkets available but be prepared to negotiate HARD. They tried to sell me a cheap Ball Hat for $50 usd. This would be $10-12 at most markets. Eventually he starts lowering his prices and following me around. ends up at $20 as im leaving and i still declined because i didn't like the tactics. Bought nothing here because all the shops were the same. 2.5/5 stars Fishing... We took a charter. They seem to all use a central booking service. the resort offered a package at 50-60% higher then you could get elsewhere. We paid $450 for a 4 hour tour. depending on boat expect $500-$600 if you want to troll for sport fish (marlin, Tuna, Sailfish, mahi mahi etc). Fishing was excellent however water is quite rough. The location of punta cana makes it so water will never be calm. if you ever get sea sick avoid this. 4.5/5 stars Overall experience was 3.5/5 . Pros - Staff was Excellent, Beautiful Grounds, Decent Kids program. Cons - Food was mediocre at best, Shopping is too commercialized and expensive. Should have been warned about washrooms.

Ocean El Faro: Beautiful plao

The hotel is almost clean, the attitude of the staff is very good, the hospitality is very good, the food is very repetitive and the variety of food is low, the drinks and cocktails are excellent, the water in the pool is not clean and the water is dark most of the days and there is a lot of hair inside, good Wi-Fi. The goods in the store inside the hotel were expensive, the restaurants inside the hotel were extremely poor, and the hotel programs were very poor. Ocean El Faro: Beautiful plao

The hotel is almost clean, the staff's attitude is very good, the hospitality is very good, the food was very repetitive, the drinks and cocktails are excellent, the pool water is not very clean, good Wi-Fi, the store items inside the hotel are expensive, the restaurants inside the hotel are extremely poor.

JOIA Bavaro by Iberostar: Perfect from Start to finish.

The resort was well maintained, the room was nice and clean.The food and drinks were fantastic. The service from the staff was friendly, fast and easy going. Would highly recommend staying at this adult only resort.

Sunscape Coco Punta Cana: Sunscape Coco

Hotel grounds clean. Plenty of places to eat at, but there are line ups. Also the gift shop and the Airport only accepts American currency. Not Canadian.There is a private part to this Hotel for Sunscape members only, and pool area as well. We were told after we went in. There isn’t any gate or fence preventing you from entering from your room.

VH Gran Ventana Beach Resort: Great vacation

This resort was great. Perfect for families. We thought pool area, beach, food, drinks were all great. We did get the upgrade and thought it was well worth it for us. Rooms were good a little small for 4 but still kept clean and very comfortable. Entertainment was good as well. We really enjoyed it here and would recommend. Thank you all who made our vacation great!!!

Bahia Principe Explore La Romana: OK RESORT

Overall was an ok vacation but pricey for what you get in my opinion. The food was only ok. Buffet was packed, line ups etc. Same food everyday. The low end liquor was horrible. Pop was flat, juice wasn’t juice was tang. Massive cockroaches in the room. And not sure if this was weather related but the beach water was brown. Couldn’t see the bottom of the ocean and I got stung by jellyfish ?. Ouch Tried to make the best of it as we were there a family wedding but don’t go in July way too hot ? [... read more] was over 40 everyday with the humidex. Pool was packed and very noisy! Very crowded at the resort. Over an hour drive from airport.

Serenade Punta Cana Beach and Spa Resort: Amazing resort

Food was excellent which was not expected but was very well received. The entire resort is clean and the staff all are nice. First time travelling and this has set my expectations high. Most staff knew how to speak English. The resort had great facilities and things to do up until late night. Rooms (luxury master suite) was fantastic.

VH Gran Ventana Beach Resort: Beautiful Resort with Amazing staff

The Grand Ventana is a beautiful resort, after being there, now know why so many people return here! We had the premium package added and it was best decision we made. We absolutely loved the extras that came along with this: VIP beach area, late check out, vintage lounge/bar area. The staff were so friendly and made you feel at home and like family. His service was to higher standard. Rosa at the buffet lounge was great too, so friendly and knew her guests by name or by what they prefered to drink by her 2nd time seeing them. Julissa at the Oceanview grill was amazing too. The grounds were well manicured and clean always. Loved our room, we had an oceanview on the 1st floor. Gran Ventana is an expectional place that truly makes you want to come back again and again.

Need garbage cans in the room areas, not just the bathroom & need ashtrays on the room balconys Good entertainment , Michael Jackson & the beach party were very good,,,,,,,,,,,probably would not return, but the staff was amazing, casino would be nice & a better mixture of music at the disco. Emotions by Hodelpa Puerto Plata: Disappointment at the Resirt

Stayed at Emotions in Puerto Plata and I was very disappointed with the room I was staying in. The TV didn’t have much English channels, the few that it had didn’t work properly. Wasn’t able to use the Iron to iron my clothes just kept leaking. The worst of all was waking up in the morning with my room flooded with water after rain falls. The bathroom is always wet with water dripping from the floor above me also whenever you take a shower the way how the bathroom is water running all over  [... read more]the floor because their was no shower door. To say the least I was very disappointed. I was eventually moved to another room where the door frame was coming off and the door could not lock. My son had to come and push the frame back in its space for me to be able to shut the door to go to sleep. The next day I left came back door couldn’t open, we had to call for help which came pretty quickly, which I appreciated the battery was dead in the door fob. Let’s just say I was happy to leave the resort. In the plus side I must say the staff were very friendly especially in the restaurants annd buffet.. The cleaners also were very nice just didn’t speak much English but that was fine. The worst part of my vacation was the rooms. The beach was great, the pool not very clean at times. Would I go back to Emotions? NO WAY, the rooms I stayed in were nightmares. Needs upgrade Thank you

VH Gran Ventana Beach Resort: Amazing resort

This resort was absolutely amazing. The food was great, the rooms are nice and cozy. The entertainment was truly amazing. They had salsa dance lessons, games in pool, beach activities, nightly shows. Some of them were so funny. We did some parasailing on resort as well as snorkeling. I will definitely go back again. Loved it!!

Bahia Principe Escape Ambar: Amazing resort!

This resort was so clean! Rooms were spacious and close to the beach, which wasn’t overcrowded. Many options for restaurant dining, the food was good and presented nicely. Entertainment included live bands by the pool and a beach party on our last night. What an amazing trip!

Sunscape Dominicus La Romana: Horrible!

I really hate being negative but this was the most horrible all inclusive experience I’ve ever had. The buffet is not enclosed so the food goes bad really quick. But even made fresh it was the WORST food I’ve ever had. The only fruit to be seen is watermelon, pineapple and cantaloupe. The meat was more often than not raw. The rooms are poorly maintained. My Spanish is decent however most of the staff can’t speak any English. However the big problem is that they don’t appear to have been trained on how to do their job. Politely ask for anything and it’s a crapshoot if they get around to it. Sometime you get towels when they take the dirty ones and other times you don’t. Then there’s the general customer base. If you’re European then you may fit in. North Americans, not so much. My guess is 90%+ people are from Europe. Nobody said please or thank you. Treat the staff like garbage. Smoke everywhere including buffets the theatre. Urinate in the bushes. Not the crowd I’m used to.

Pros: - Resort is well-kept and clean. Lots of pools to enjoy, water park was GREAT! Beach was beautiful and is perfect for surfing (my kids loved it)! - Lots of activities to keep everyone of all ages - busy! - Food was SO GOOD with lots of choices! One of the bedroom floor was flooded with water due to heavy rain the night before 2. There was a gecko in the master bedroom and keeps calling in the middle of the night -> hard to get good sleep (butler said he will personally handle the issue but never did) 3. Smell coming out from master bedroom ensuite can't seem to find the source 4. The sliding door which separates the toilet/shower from the bedroom, cannot be closed completely leaving little privacy - Butler was NOT helpful at all, could have handle everything we requested myself and get a faster response time.
