Friendly Fun Vallarta: A great home base to explore Puerto Vallarta

We really enjoyed our stay at Friendly Fun Vallarta. The general vibe of the place is quite relaxed and pleasant, perfect to rest and recharge away from the Canadian winter. It is very conveniently located on the beach within a 40 minute walk to the Malacon and a 20 minute walk to the Port. The public areas were clean and bright, staff were very courteous and efficient. Beds were comfortable with great pillows. Good pressure and lots of hot water in the shower. There were, however, a few things that were mildly inconvenient. First, in a room with 2 queen sized beds, there was only one bedside table between the two, while my husband and I each had glasses, phones, books, and other accessories that would have been much more convenient if they were located on tables on each side of the bed. We also ended up leaving our suitcases lying open on the second bed as there were no drawers, cabinets or places to put our clothing in the room other than on the coat hangers in the closet. We also found it odd that there were both a table and a desk in the room but only a single chair despite the occupancy of the room being up to 4 adults. These things aside, we had a wonderful week exploring the city and enjoying perfect weather and would not hesitate to plan a return visit to Friendly Fun Vallarta for another stay in the future.

Grand Decameron Complex Bucerias Trademark: Our Home away from home

Another great 2 week vacation at the Grand Decameron (formally the Royal Decameron Complex in Mexico). Friendly, knowledgeable staff, great weather, good selection of food, beautiful grounds, beach and ocean views. Thank you, we cannot wait to get back for our 19th visit.

NYX Hotel Cancun: Lovely Resort

We booked a Master Suite to get a glass railing on our balcony and are glad we did. The hoterl is lovely and well kept. Maintenance crews are always working to keep things ship shape. The location is great being close to the Isla Mall. The staff are very friendly always ready to help. The cleaning lady was the best, always having our room cleaned and made up while we were down for breakfast. The food is amazing, especially the Italian and Japanese restaurants. The only issue I had was at the spa [... read more] where I tried their Thermal cycling treatment which consists of a warm rain shower, a steam room and a cold shower. The problem was, the steam room runs at over 200 F so after a couple of minutes, I felt unwell and came close to passing out. I guess the other thing to note is the large amount of stairs in the hotel that you have to navigate to get anywhere you are going. Fine for the younger crowd but not so good when you are 70! But all in all, we loved our stay....in spite of the storm that kept us off the beach for our entire week, but that isn't the fault of the hotel.

Grand Palladium Colonial: the grande paladium colonial resort was a huge resort which was part of 3 different resorts in one

the grounds were well maintained, the staff were very friendly it covered vast amounts of land which took long walks to cover the whole area the thai ala cart restaurant and the steak house were excellant the main buffett becalme sort of same food being served after a while breakfasts were great the beds in our room should be changed as they were creaking and well worn we were placed on the fourth floor of villa 4 as there was an error in bed assignments for 3 adults the main pool wa fan [... read more]tastic and the beach was great for long walks

Royalton Splash Riviera Cancun: Meh

Clean resort, nice grounds, great water park, lots of entertainment. Food sub par and guest services/amenities were over promised and under delivered. They say they have cribs (and they do) but they can’t guarantee them. Our stroller was damaged by the airline and we needed to rent a stroller. Guest services gave ZERO information on rental options and did not have any insight to support us. Since it was last minute I couldn’t find any rentals online and I couldn’t get one delivered from wal mart [... read more]. My in-laws were diamond club and had a butler. They asked the butler for help and the butler literally arranged with their external pharmacy right away for us to have a rental stroller and it was delivered within the hour. This type of perk should NOT be reserved for diamond club in my opinion. This was a total turn off.

Luna Palace: Resort was grea

The resort was great!! The transportation not so great! On our way to resort from airport.. bus broke down (battery problems) we ended up walking to the resort.. it was ok.. it was about three blocks away.. going home.. I was told I’d be picked up at resort for the airport.. last minute.. (while I was waiting outside for pick up) lady from front desk came and told me to take a taxi.. which it cost me 500 pesos.. I was not happy about that!! Arnold carrita!

GR Solaris Caribe Adults Only: Beautiful

I have returned to the GR several times to meet up with friends and enjoy a vacation. My husband and I found the GR on our first vacation several years back and have been coming back to meet up with friends and to enjoy. He has long past sense but I keep coming back for the memories. The hotel itself is beautiful the staff I cannot say enough about them. They are wonderful. There’s nothing I do not like about the GR. Platinum Yucatan Princess: Another lovely stay!

Our family has stayed at this hotel a few times now and we come back for many reasons. We enjoy the elevated experience and food in the buffets and the a la carte restaurants. The nice aspect of this resort is that you don't have any limits to how often you eat at the restaurants or have to wait in lines to book a reservation. The staff are lovely and overly helpful. The bars are well stocked and efficient. The beach is not as nice as we have enjoyed elsewhere due to the size and the rocky cond [... read more]itions, but it is still enjoyable for beach lovers. The concierge, front desk and valets are outstanding. We had assistance when needed for my Mom and her walker and people were consistently accommodating. Sadly the weather was very unseasonably cold, rainy and overcast for our trip. So the only complaint is that we are disappointed there are no English speaking movie stations on the TVs. There are 4 English stations, 2 of them are news stations and the other two are CBS and NBC with local programming from Florida and other places. There needs to be something done to add in English movie channels like other hotels have available. We spent a lot of time in the room due to weather and that would have been helpful. Grateful for the hotel helping get the same room as past trips as my senior knew the paths for ease and safety and she was much more comfortable not trying out a new location. We think this hotel is a good fit for us...just not the weather this trip!

El Dorado Casitas Royale: Excellent choice

We really enjoyed the hotel, food, and hotel grounds. This was the first time we stayed at a property where dinner was by reservation only, and we LOVED it. If you prefer buffet style, this is not the hotel for you.

Sandos Caracol Nature Resort and Water Park: Great potential, failed to deliver

Pros: the grounds and wildlife were so awesome. Fun activities and the cenote was awesome. Waterslides were great. Cons: everything else. POOR service. Long line ups for the bar and no serving staff for drinks. Usually around 10-20 people in line at any given time. A LA carte booking system is ridiculous. You have to attempt to refresh at midnight and fight over who can click the 6 open spots fastest. Impossible to get food late at night. Waiting times of 1+ hours to get the server to acknow [... read more]ledge you, and another hour to get food. He would literally just ignore you and walk away if he didn't want to serve you yet. Only one place to get food, and no room service. Hot water in our room was sporadic. We had more cold showers than warm despite "maintenance fixing it" The bar in the waterslide area was "closed"(permanently??!), so in order to get an alcoholic beverage you had to walk about 5-8 mins each way. Every single member of our party got either food poisoning or gastroenteritis. Talking to others at the resort there were a LOT of people with the same experience.

We stayed in Block No 1, Please note that these rooms need to be updated, do not expect a luxury setting or hot water very often for that, yet clean enough, but once you open up that patio door it did not take long for the room negativity to go away with the amazing views. The grounds were well kept with the bars being an arms length away. The food was actually not to bad with always something to eat no mater what time of day. To switch up you can take a walk to Bucerias where you will encounter [... read more] little cafés, restaurants and no shortage of gift shops, we actually did this walk twice and felt very safe as their are other tourist. Went also took the tour Rhythm of the night and enjoyed it. Dinner was good but one suggestion is to bring a sweater or jacket for the return boat ride.

Planet Hollywood Cancun by Royalton: Beautiful resort

Grounds were well kept. All amenities were spaced out and easily accessible. We were Star Class guests, Service at the pools and restaurants was good but the ala cart restaurants under performed in quality and experience. Daily room service was very inconsistent with standards not met. Daily follow up required to meet those standards ie: towels, fridge restocking, bathroom set up etc. Overall a very nice resort with a beautiful beach but more attention to the service in the rooms is needed.

Planet Hollywood Cancun by Royalton: Beautiful Resort

The resort it self is beautiful and clean. Unfortunately our Star class Entourage Suite was not acceptable upon our arrival. It smelled of mould and mildew and the bed was wet and it was quite a hassle to get our room changed. The Star Class front desk told us it was the humidity but our family was in 3 other rooms that did not have that issue. Our encounter with Denise at the Star class front desk was unpleasant and unsatisfactory. Our new room was perfect, no “humidity “ issues.

Grand Decameron Complex Bucerias Trademark: Great resort! Great location!

The Grand Decameron Bucerias is a very nice resort, within walking distance of centro Bucerias. The resort is spread out with several different blocks of rooms and 6 pools. So there's lots of choice whether you want quiet or more active. The beach is wide and has lots of palapas for shade. There's also free use kayaks, which was fun for our group. There are 2 main buffets, we liked the one by the activity pool, there was a nice selection of foods to choose from. I did find that food was [... read more] never hot though, just warm, not sure if it's because the steam tables weren't turned up enough or because the lids were never closed. The staff was helpful and attentive.The other buffet had less selection I found, but the food was hot. It gets busy though, I prefer not to wait. We did a few a la cartes, the best was Mediterranean (Italian) it was awesome!! The Brazilian was good too if you like your meat! The pools were a little on the cool side, but once you're in, it's fine. The rooms are standard, beds were firm, they have mattress toppers on request, good water pressure and no shortage of hot water. AC worked really well! I found all staff were friendly and made us feel like they were happy to have us there. There was nightly shows early by the pool and then at the amphitheater at 9:30. There was guests of all walks of life, leaning more to 50+ there were families as well. We really enjoyed our stay, and would be happy to return again.

Grand Decameron Complex Bucerias Trademark: Wonderful vacation at a GREAT Resort

My wife and I had a wonderful time at the Decameron. Many options of all sorts to do and see. Huge beach, great food, friendly staff. VERY CLEAN EVERYWHERE. Nothing to complain about. I only suggest doing something about the limited beach palapas.

The Grand Decameron is a very beautiful resort well maintained! The staff is very welcoming and friendly! The food at all restaurants was well prepared! The room at Block One was very clean. Thank you to everyone!

Grand Sunset Princess: Sewage pumped into Ocean

The hotel was well staffed and the grounds maintained. There was signs of aging but being well maintained. We spent our dinners at the Ala carte restaurants all very different and delicious, very pleasant entertaining and great staff at each. the only complaint I have is enormous and beyond disgusting. The biggest reason for our vacation to an ocean front resort is to float in the ocean and swim snorkel... instead the first day we noticed nothing alive in the ocean in front of the resort and the [... read more]n swam so disgustingly close to three pipes spewing sewage into the ocean. this is happening inside a swimming area right in front of the life guard tower. I have since googled it to find other complaints. I also looked up and saved multiple drone videos showing the spew in the ocean. I have read the many excuses and can tell you that I know its sewage because we got to close. I feel completely disgusted and ripped off of an ocean front vacation as it is implied beach means swimming in the ocean.

Dreams Cozumel Cape Resort and Spa: Great Dreams Resort

Dreams Resort, waiters very friendly, always attentive about filling juice/wine glass when empty. Great food! Cleaning crew efficient services. Beach waters had sharp rocks, small shells and coral. Water shoes required to enter. Pool has an extreme drop step about 3 feet deep in the middle which may cause a fall. Be cautious of the sudden drop! Haven Riviera Cancun: Wonderful staff

The staff at this resort are wonderful and a very special thank you to Moises at the circular pool for being so kind and friendly and cheerful every day! The entertainment was also excellent with a very professional show and dinner at the dinner theatre and also a great burlesque show in Moons cabaret. The beach is nice and great for walking. The resort itself is just OK and doesn’t feel very welcoming. There is construction next door which will wake you up early if you are in building 2. Th [... read more]ey don’t seem to make an effort not to use these rooms unless needed and wait until you complain to move you even when there are quiet rooms unoccupied. The rooms are showing their wear and the towels are getting ragged. They do have beautiful balconies with spa tubs though which are very nice. The food is OK but disappointing at times and not always hot. This has not been one of our favourite resorts so unfortunately we would not return or recommend it to our friends.

Moon Palace The Grand Cancun: Great resort but VERY big

Overall, positive impression. Not sure if we would return because it was just way too big. We prefer a cozier vibe. There were shuttles and shuttle routes throughout, but it was not easy to "run back to the room" if we happened to forget something while out at dinner in the lobby area.
