Brisas Guardalavaca: Lovely resort

We stayed at the Brisas in Feb 2018, 4 Adults and 2 kids. This would have been our second time at Brisas Check In: We checked in at the Villa lobby. 3 couples in front of us and it took over an hour to get checked in, not sure what the hold up was. Once it was our turn the lady was very nice and accommodating. She ensured that we got ground level for the Kids and close to Grandma and Grandpa's room. Rooms: We stayed in the Villa, room 1707. Two queen size beds which were pretty comfortable [... read more] and a crib was provided for the Baby. Pillows were horrible and we were short one however, when we called guest services they got our maid to deliver one the next day. Our maid did a great job of keeping our room clean and was very friendly. It did take a complaint to guest services in order for us to get a new fridge since the first one we had did not work. Meals: The FOOD WAS AMAZING and MUCH BETTER THEN LAST YEAR!!!! However, the Server's were not as friendly and helpful. (They did have some students helping out, they were not the problem they were fantastic) There were many times that we had to get our own fork or napkins. I was very disappointed by this. The restaurant by the Villa, we eat breakfast here every morning, the tables were never cleaned and our coffee was never top up unless asked. Loved the stir fry station, pasta, and the grill Pool\Accomidations: Pools are beautiful and very clean. Great staff around the pool areas and very helpful and friendly. LOVES THE WATER SHOW A MUST SEE. Thank you Brisas had a great vacation!

Club Amigo Atlantico Guardalavaca: Amazing people!

Club Amigo has the wonderful staff , we feel very welcomed there. All employees are friendly always a smiles , great beach, beautifully kept grounds, very safe, always something good to eat and drinks. We never had any issues at all with our room, food or drinks. We stay in villa section, view from balcony was amazing, Maria our housekeeper is wonderful person. Thank you all for a beautiful vacation!

Playa Pesquero: Great experience!

This resort is a wonderful resort...from the people, food, and beaches. Thoroughly enjoy it each and every time. This is my seventh year in a row. Service gets a little better each and every time as I have built bonds with the people. Tipping also helps get wonderful service!

Aston Costa Verde Beach Resort: Great resort

The staff and grounds at this resort were great, friendly staff and clean grounds with beautiful beach , what more could you ask for. The hotel itself is in need of some repairs, and is currently working on new ownership. This was evident in a couple of areas as they did run out of a few items while we were there, French fries, hotdogs, bread(once), etc. Still a very enjoyable vacation. I would be very excited to see what changes happen with new ownership.

Aston Costa Verde Beach Resort: Fantastic resort

The staff is amazing , our favorite was Sunny she was the first to greet us at the bar when we arrived. I am sure that the group of 11 drove her crazy but she h ad a smile the whole time. The resort is very nice but a bit dated and in need if some repair. We had also found out that the resort was in transition of new owners while we were there , which may explain why they ran out of things during our visit. Playa Pesquero: Nice resort

I loved it. I stayed there with my mom for a week in Feb. 2018. Good service friendly staff nice location and beach. Food not so different needs more variety. Overal liked it and will go there again.

Playa Pesquero: Enjoyed our vacation

Very friendly staff, good food, great wine, large variety of restaurants, beautiful beach, clean large pool. No problem getting chairs on beach or around pool. Large resort but good layout with constant transportTion available. Great value for the price.

Don Lino Hotel: Sick employees should stay home

No Internet. Bottled water is not free. New bungalows (2 story quads) have fridge no safe, the opposite for ocean bungalows .Mold and disrepair in stone bungalows. Scorpions, tree frogs and variety of insects in room. Very windy resort. Lots of coral and not great for swimming. Half hour walk to another beach.Very few beach chairs and most were broken. Good variety of fresh fruit and vegetables in buffet but most days difficult to find clean table and had to search for clean cutlery,plates an [... read more]d glasses. Poor to no table service for beer or wine. One small pool. Free use of bicycles. Live entertainment nightly. Bartender was very sick one day and coughing over all the cups and glasses. Same night husband got very sick with four days in bed. Three types of meds. Spoke to manager that staff should be wearing masks or go home when they are sick.Short hours on snack bar with not much variety.

Paradisus Rio De Oro: 2nd visit to the Paradisus in Holguin!

We returned to the Paradisus in Holguin for the 2nd time and we continue to 'rave' about the resort! The resort offers everything that is important to us - delicious food at the several restaurants/buffet, wonderful service by the staff in each dining area, the rooms are very comfortable, and the pool, beach are lovely! We met up with friends who also returned, and truly enjoyed their company in this gorgeous resort! Brisas Guardalavaca: A Great Friendly Resort.

Grounds are kept up immaculately, some of the rooms are older , but all really clean and they keep working on upgrades constantly. I have ALOT of food allergies and still find good food to eat. This time there was a shortage of fruit and veggies that were wiped out by tropical storm and potatoes had rot I am sure from all the rain they have had this year. Beach is gorgeous and pools are really clean. All the staff except maybe one or two, I would say are SOOOOO friendly and caring. They go out of their way, to make you happy , and at home. Entertainment from what I saw was good, but really I like the older animation teams they used to have from back in the day. They mingled with all the people around the resort and talked to you all the time. Not just when there were scheduled things going on. Our one server Jareesta from the Cuban restaurant, offered to bring me vegetables and sweet potatoes out of her garden, as she grew things they didn't have on the resort , that she knew I could eat. The management , and PR make sure things are all set up for me, and always upgrade me to a great room for my mobility needs.

Club Amigo Atlantico Guardalavaca: Been to this resort 5 times and I will still go back .They are always doing improvements and there always is something to do walk to the town flea market go for dinner to the left of the beach amd over look the beautiful ocean .And best of all the Cuban poeple are so nice and its very safe in this country .

Grounds rooms and staff are all good if your looking for which areas to stay Villas would be first bungalows ocean view tropicaland last is harden view .You can upgrade but seems to be getting harder every year unless its off time .Safes and fridge come in some rooms but most you need to pay 20 canadain gets you safe for a week frigde is 1 pesco a day .

Playa Pesquero: Amazing time

We had an amazing time. It was the first big trip with my 6 year old and we loved every minute. There is a good variety of food and the locals are so nice and inviting. My son was never bored, we spent every day by the pool and had a blast. We can't wait to go back.

Club Amigo Atlantico Guardalavaca: Great Value for Money!

My partner and I recently stayed for 2 weeks at Club Amigo Atlantico. Overall we had a really good time at a bargain price. To simplify my comments, I will list them in two sections - Positives and Negatives: POSITIVES: - Sunwing were extremely well organized and the in flight service excellent - Trip Central were outstanding in their helpful suggestions. The web site is so easy to navigate and full of useful information about the resort (s). - I must agree with all other reviews regarding [... read more] the location. The beach is excellent and you can actually enjoy a view of the ocean while relaxing next to the pool. A short walk away is 'Pirates Cove' - a sheltered cove with a calm sea; and definitely recommended if you wish to get away from the music and other noise around the main pool. - The staff were very helpful and friendly. - Bearing in mind what is available on this island and what we paid for the trip, the food was good. Much of the same at the buffet, but it was OK. Terrible coffee!!. The a la carte restaurants made a nice change.The food was nothing special, but the wines served were much better than the buffet house wine. - Evening activities were good. We particularly enjoyed the water ballet and the "light and dark show." - Good piano music in the lounge, but please, please, please get that piano tuned! - We had a 'seaview room' although we could not see much of the sea due to the tall trees outside our window. The room was clean and spacious (but see below). Our maid ( Mary Lou?) was charming and so attentive to all our needs. NEGATIVES -The resort is huge and we managed to get lost a few times. What didn't help was that the maps on the walls were seriously outdated and misleading. We tried to find the clinic once but gave up as we were so confused. We missed some shows at the beginning as we thought they would be at the main stage near the main building. (makes sense doesn't it?), However, they were at another location, about 10 minutes walk away. This was a pain, particularly when it was pouring with rain, which it did often at night. The good news was that, if you waited long enough, you could get a ride on a hotel golf cart. - Despite the many no smoking signs, people were smoking everywhere. You could not get away from the 'second hand smoke.' There is an urgent need for some designated non smoking areas which are monitored by hotel staff. - Our room had no drawers in which to put your clothes. Not even a small chest of drawers. Nothing! We left our clothes in our suitcases. There was some hanging space and we made the best of that. - We expected to find a fridge in the room. However, there was simply an empty space under the TV, where the fridge should have been. We phoned reception and a fridge was promptly delivered to our room. Nothing was mentioned about an extra fee. Imagine our surprise when we checked out, when the manager at reception insisted that we pay an extra $20.00 for the fridge. We tried our best to point out that this was unfair and unacceptable. However, the manager was adamant because the charge was "in the computer'. So, we paid the $20.00 under protest. - The steps into the main pool were totally inadequate; in fact dangerous because they were small, slippery and had no rail to hang on to. An accident waiting to happen. - No wheelchair access to the pool and beach from the hotel.!! SUMMARY Certainly worth 3.5 stars and many of the problems can be fixed at a low cost. We had a great holiday and may return one day.

Don Lino Hotel: Amazing resort

Always look forward to a good time there. Meet lots of people from over the last ten years I have been going. New things to see and do in the area as well. Lots of repeat people that return each year.

Aston Costa Verde Beach Resort: Loved it again!

This was my second time to this resort and would gladly return. The older section is showing some wear and tear but the plus section was great. We were surprised by the lack of crowds which caused some restaurants to be closed but other than that all was excellent! The staff are great and very helpful. Loved the VIP bar! Would recommend to anyone for an economical and pleasant all inclusive!

Playa Pesquero: Playa Pesquero Premium - Expectations Well Met - 4.5*

Resort is only +/- 5 years old so in great condition Very quiet and low key Rooms are very large and comfortable - huge bathroom with great amenities and nice outside shower - large balcony with "daybed" All meal are A La Carte - with a very good menu and a nice wine selection - Pool snack bar is also A La Carte with an interesting menu Pool is very well set up with comfortable lounge chairs and sun protection screens Spa is accessible all week with services at a cost - well equipped gym  [... read more]facility Beach is private, some nice fish to see nearby - as pool bar is far a small beach bar would have been a nice touch All staff are courteous and accommodating The butler service was hit and miss - lack of coordination between different "service teams" - much information and services available, etc. was not provided and caused unnecessary confusion (nothing serious/major but somewhat expected at a 5 Star)

Playa Pesquero: Nice get away

Resort was nice. Large and lots of opportunity to walk off all those extra pounds! Rooms/beds were comfortable. Lots of hot water for showers. Beach was beautiful but have to get out early for a chair. Food was disappointing. Greatly lacking fresh vegetables and fruit. It all pretty much came from a can or a bag of frozen stuff. Service was not as good as I have had at other resorts but staff pleasant. 7/10

Club Amigo Atlantico Guardalavaca: Beautiful beach!

This resort is pretty much exactly what you would expect for this price point in Cuba. I highly recommend the upgrade to a Villa to make your stay more enjoyable. Staff is friendly for the most part and try their best with limited supplies. Have brekkie at the Villa 24 hour bar lunch at main resort on the beach buffet and dinner at an a la carte, they serve pretty much the same food but service is nice. Avoid the lobster, try the shrimp at the Mediterranean restaurant. Drinks are best at Pi [... read more]rate bar (12-4 on small beach), 24 hour bar(ask if they have tonic) and dessert coffee at Ashley's cafe. WiFi is best at the small utility hut just off the path from the 24 hour bar - there is a hub over the door! Keep your wifi card or buy an extra for the airport, the wifi is government supplied and the card will work there but you can't buy one there. Know what to expect for what you paid and have a great time!
