Barcelo Bavaro Palace: A great time

We returned to the hotel and had a wonderful vacation at a. It could use a little TIC as it is starting to show its age, but aren't we all. We didn't get to all the Al carte restaurant however the ones we did eat at were fine. The staff as always was wpnderful. I just wish the staff had better English. Then again I should learn spanish

Allegro Cozumel: Allegro Cozumel

Grounds excellent, food good. Room assignment poor due to close proximity to theater with its loud reverbating noise nightly. Service excellent from staff. Transportation to Hotel excellent and also to the airport.

Palma Real: Can't complain for the price

Since the Barcelo group took over in Dec-Jan. they are making an effort for improvement. The food is as good as before but repeatative. Still not enough beach chairs. Only 2 a la carte restaurants and they really need improvement on the menu, the buffet is a better choice.

Palma Real: In one year went extremely down hill!

Hello, my partner and I recently stayed at the Barcelo Allegeo Palma Real in Varadero, Cuba and I have to say that we were very disappointed. When I had first received the email that Barcelo Allegro had bought the Palma Real I was quite excited, as I have stayed at a Barcelo in Punta Cana and various times at the one in Puerto Plata and was expecting great things but I was sadly disappointed. The rooms had been dated but always clean and well maintained. Not this year. Although the regular cleaning crew did the best they could with what they had to work with it appears that more staff should be added to keep up with long term maintenance, not only in the rooms and buildings but the pools as well. There is mold in bathroom and on the furniture, holes in walls and ceilings, Stained towels, sheets, pillows, broken furniture and glass on decks, there is no theme night for meals just the same boring meals night after night (we ate supper off the resort after the 3rd night for the rest of the week), the staff are still happy and fun, the guest elevators in either building don't work, the pools have a green scum around the bottom edge of each pool, the quiet pool is falling apart and I was there in 2009 when it was closed and redone, the entertainment in the evenings is dull and boring and needs to be changed because no one goes, there is no longer beer in bldg lobbies, now guest pay $ 20 for towel rental that gets returned at the end instead of a towel card, while we were there staff did a room inventory in our room and did not close the room door, the pool cleaner only pours chlorine but doesn't clean pool, there are holes and broken tiles in all the lobbies that people could get injured on. We do not consider ourselves picky people, as we expect water shortages or cold water at certain times and don't need robes in our rooms but this trip was bad and unsanitary. I used to recommend this resort but won't anymore and will not be going back ourselves. I have pictures to prove I am not exaggerating.

Occidental Punta Cana: nice resort

hotel well maintained staff very friendly little bit of a line up at bars but not too bad food was quite good,always found something to eat beach does not have a lot of shade but wanted sun anyway room was renovated so very comfortable would go again

Occidental Caribe: Occidental caribe

Hotel was very clean , staff at the bar stations at the best of time was friendly and quick to serve drink . Speaciality restaurants were ok but the japenese was our favourite, the buffet was horrible and the food was not what we expected compared the the occidental we stayed at in Aruba . Definitely will not be my first choice again . You need more shaded area by the pool which was very clean

Occidental Tucancun: Superbe stay

Amazing the staff was the best rooms were clean the waitresses were one of the best I have seen polite smiling and attentive thank you very much we have just good comments unfortunately it was very windy the entertainment was Special

Barcelo Solymar: Had a great time!

The hotel was clean and as two women travelling alone, we felt very safe both on and off the resort. The common bathrooms were always very clean and well stocked. The a la carte restaurants that we went to (Spanish and seafood) were both excellent. We were pleasantly surprised to receive an extra a la carte dinner as repeat guests of the hotel (this was our second year). We met lots of the other guests and all of the staff were lovely. Barcelo Bavaro Palace: Always a great place

Place is well kept grounds look great, nice pool areas, food is good I am meat and potatoes so I was happy but lots of different foods. Beds were good a few little things like sticky taps, paper holder broken never fixed they just keep putting paper without reporting but going back again before end of the year

Barcelo Bavaro Palace: Great vacations

Everything was ok, the dining options were excellent, the facilities as well. We had a great experience. I recognize the high quality of the service, but also that there were no personal interaction. I felt I was one of hundreds, thousands of visitors, a number. Thats why I will not probably go back. Also the prices during March are too high. The check in for our return flight was very unpleasant, the waiting was too much. We arrived at 11.10 and it was 12.40 and we weren't even passed migra [... read more]tion. Too much stress , the flight was at 1.30 pm, but it was delayed.

Palma Real: great resort

I was pleasantly surprised by the hotel. Although a 3 star it was clean and the grounds were well maitainted and most everything worked. The staff were always helpful. The location was fantastic. The food was not the strong point but there were many choises.

Occidental at Xcaret Destination: Excellent experience

My husband and I just came back from a week at the Occidental XCaret in Mexico and we loved just about everything about it. The staff was very attentive, polite and went out of their way to accommodate us whether it was in the restaurants, beach, front desk or even the cleaning crew. The food was tasty and plenty at the buffet and we only ate at 3 specialty restaurants which were good (steak house, sea food and Italian) but overall was a very nice experience. The thing that stood out the mos [... read more]t about the Hotel was the excellent cleanliness all over: the pathways, the pool area, the hotel inside and grounds. There were people constantly sweeping, washing or painting the different areas of the hotel to keep it spotless. We were in awe of the amount of trees, plants, greenery that surrounded the hotel which meant that a lot of animals were present on the grounds all the time. These little creatures (monkeys, parrots, exotic birds, salamanders, iguanas, were always around but did not bother us. They also had white tail deer, tapirs, and larger animals inside enclosures for clients to admire. We ever have had such good service at a hotel since we have started to travel 35 years ago. The only negative part of the trip was the beach. It was far from the hotel and had lots of sargassum (seaweed) which is unfortunately not the Hotel's fault but due to the warm weather currents and storms in the Caribbean sea. This is not a hotel for people with mobility issues because of it's large size.

Barcelo Bavaro Palace: Awesome Time!

Hotel was great! This was my third time staying at this resort; first time on the Palace side. Although a lot busier than the Adult Only section, it was still great. From the room, to the service, food, hospitality, entertainment, I loved it! :) I always recommend this resort to others because you really can't go wrong! GREAT WORK BARCELO!

Allegro Cozumel: Not well organized

We booked this resort at least 4 months before March Break. We booked a room for our elderly mother's to share, requesting two double beds. They gave them a KING to share. When we opened the door, there was water from the AC unit, dripping/pouring down through the pot lights over the vanity sink onto the counter and the ceramic floor, making the floor very dangerous for slipping. The floor of the walk in shower slopped away from the drain, pooling the water by the far end near the door, again on [... read more] ceramic tile, making it very slippery, and very dangerous for our mothers. They took 4 nights to finally get them into another room. The beach, pool, food, etc were all fine. General staff were very friendly and its a good resort. Beach was great.

Barcelo Bavaro Palace: Beautiful resort.

This was our third time at the Barcelo Bavaro Palace. The food was very good. The beach is so beautiful. Lots of activities for the whole family. There's also a water park with a wave pool. A Casino that is open 24 hours. Bowling alley for the whole family and Sports Bar that is also open 24 hours. The people that work there are all very helpful and polight. Allegro Cozumel: Great resort and wonderful couples vacation

This is a very nice, eco-conscious resort that is not as fancy as some others however it offered everything we wanted and more. We did not find it dated, just more simple in decor and style such as thatched roofs on the villas and simple but modern and clean rooms. We were very happy with the food, there was lots to choose from and plenty of it. If you are picky then you may feel limited in your choices at times but if you enjoy trying new things (like grilled cactus and mole poblano) then there [... read more] are lots of options. The beach was fantastic, we purposely chose Cozumel because of the snorkeling and we were not disappointed! Crystal clear waters and we saw small sting rays, a huge starfish and lots of fish right off the beach. On a snorkeling excursion we went on we saw sea turtles, many many fish and even a tiny shark hanging out by the reef. We did not use the gym, spa or go to much evening entertainment but we saw a cirque-de-soleil style show and a concert. One thing you should know if you visit here is that the hotel staff will try to sell time shares to you by telling you there is a free welcome package or gift of some kind. Nothing is free and if you buy into this you will be given a presentation about time shares. A simple no-thanks will suffice though and no one bothered us after that. This would be a great resort for families but my husband and I (ages 25 and 26 no kids) had a great time. Value for the money was awesome.

Barcelo Bavaro Palace: Biutifiul vacations

This is our fourth time to going to this hotel.Staff , food , friendliness and very clean rooms are always good. The weather is always nice if we are there.Beach clean and is a lots of beds to use.Sport activity amazing.

Barcelo Karmina: Great resort

We arrived March14 stayed for 7 days,this resort is beautiful, very clean,staff are very friendly,happy to assist you for any of your concerns.(we had none).if you want to do some shopping better to bring pesos ,as some stores would not accept other currency... Other than that all was fantastic.

Barcelo Bavaro Palace: My Favorite Place to Be!!!

I have stayed here over 3 times and I love it here. The selection of food and cleanliness is wonderful. The scenery and pool area is lovely. The rooms are very modern. I would recommend this hotel to anyone.
