Riu Republica: Great resort

Great food, great service. However we booked this resort for couple reasons which are: adults only, beach and hot tubs. Before booking we checked out the website. Once we arrived, we found out the hot tubs were out of service for the week or more.

Riu Republica: Great holiday

The Resort was very clean and well maintained. The staff was fantastic. Very friendly and accommodating. Our room was very well appointed. The cleaning staff was friendly and did a great job. The buffets were plentiful and offered many different options. My only complaint was that all of the specialty restaurants except one seemed to have buffets as well. I would have preferred table service for dinner. That was our only complaint other than that this resort was amazing.

Riu Negril: Riu Nigril Jamiaca

A good 3.5 star resort. Could easily be a 4.5 star with some small changes. Good staff rooms are very clean. Supposed to be non smoking but not enforced at all, so butts are everywhere. The beach is beautiful but muddy as you walk out further in the water. The Riu Palace is a butter choice.

Riu Palace Antillas: Best Vacation ever!

This hotel has everything you could want and more! Beautiful facility, amazing staff, wonderful pool and grounds! The beach is amazing and great to visit somewhere that has sites to see. The rooms are a little outdated but in great shape, just need more updated decor. Great selection of food in the buffet. We did not use the a l carte restaurants as buffet was good for us. We will definately return if we get the opportunity again.

Riu Palace Antillas: Rui Palace Antillas is awesome

Our room was 527. in hindsite I would pick a room higher up to get a better view. the 5th floor was the first floor with rooms on it. When we got our room we found that the safe didn't work (wouldn't lock) and the patio door didn't lock and the thermostat kept reverting to 17 degrees even after you changed it to 20 degrees. So we called the front desk and they did send someone right way (within 20 min) and he fixed the safe. The rooms were nice and clean and the staff did a great job of fixing up the room each day. the grounds were lovely and the staff very friendly and helpful. We enjoyed watching the iguana scurrying on the grass. I would say that the grounds and lobby of the Rui Palace Aruba next door were more glamourous than ours but both were really nice. The location on the beach was perfect. the beach sand is beautiful and white and not hot on your feet. There is a walking path down the beach at the edge of the resorts so it is nice for checking out all the other resorts.The Rui end of the beach is less crowded than the other end of the beach which we really liked. Yes, it Is very windy in Aruba but it didn't distract us from having a great time (and kept us cool) The beach area always had areas to lounge and the staff would pull out loungers and put them wherever you wanted. Very courteous. The pool areas were awesome as well. Even though people would reserve there loungers with towels there were always spots available. there was entertainment by the pool and music during most of the day. There are 4 a la carte restaurants at the resort at opened at 6:30. You could line up prior to that if you wanted to get in for the first seating. We chose to go down at 6:35 pick up a beeper for the second seating. The food at the a la carts was very good (tasty) The buffet restaurant was way better than I expected. The food was really great and the selection was wonderful. there was an omlet station in the morning and at dinner time it was usually a stirfry station, lots of salad stations and a variety of foods for different tastes. All fantastic. Over all would give the food and A+. There was entertainment each evening at the resort but I have to admit that we didn't go see any of it (too tired at the end of the day) We booked 2 excursions with our Sunwing rep. A catamaran snorkel trip and a UTV excursion across the island. Both were excellent and worth the money in my opinion. We really enjoyed our time at Rui Palace and would recommend to others.

Riu Palace Costa Rica: Very clean Nice resort with good food and services. Not impressed with evening entertainment repeat same people dancing every day

I liked out room. Very clean hotel. Food was good Layout good but a washroom closer to the pools would be nice. Not the best beach but acceptable. Had a number of swims in ocean. Pools were great. I would go again if I could find a way to get there where I didn't have to use Sunwing to get there. The flight was not as described when booked. A extra stop on the way down and due to a fuel stop that was required in Winnipeg we has 3 stops to get home. Ended up getting home much later than planned.

Riu Republica: Very nice

The food from the buffets to the restaurants was excellent with lots of choice. The Asian restaurant was our favorite. The drinks were absent of any liquor unless you specifically asked for it to be added which we found odd. Our room was fine and in a quiet wing of the resort

Riu Guanacaste: Awesome Stay

We had a fabulous time at the Riu Guanacaste. It's location was perfect for getting to many of the out trips. The hotel was clean the food was excellent and I have nothing to complain about the hotel. I would have liked an aquafit class. There was stretching but no pool fitness that I knew of. We ran into a couple who had stayed there six times they love it so much. Fantastic holiday

Riu Guanacaste: OK rating for resort

Nice to be so close to the Ocean. Best meal I had was off resort at the Monkey Bar. The a la carte restaurants were disappointing and found the feature meals at the main buffet better. Overall, grounds were well kept and clean. Received better service at 5 star in Mexico.

Riu Emerald Bay: Riu Emerald Bay-great beach resort

The grounds and and beach were immaculate. The staff was very friendly and accommodating. There was construction noise but the resort was large enough to find a quiet spot for the day. The night shows were entertaining and the staff knew what they were doing. The food was always warm and ready with lots of variety. My take away is, I would return to this resort. It met my expectations and was happy with my accommodations.

Riu Playa Blanca: Riu Playa Blanca Panama

Riu Playa Blanca was a wonderful stay and we would definitely return. The staff were courteous, prompt and helpful. The room was kept immaculate. The grounds were well manicured. The beach was awesome....long stretch to walk.

Riu Palace Paradise Island: Nice Stay

While doing our research for this trip we found there were a lot of mixed reviews for this property. Compared to other islands we have visited, this is more like an all inclusive hotel, rather than resort. The property is small, but was very clean, (every day, all day there were people cleaning the lobby area, pool area, etc.). We found everyone at the hotel to be very friendly and the entertainment staff were great! The location is ideal, beautiful beach area- other reviews complained of peop [... read more]le constantly trying to sell them things while on the beach. Our experience was vendors just walked by and if you didn't engage with them, they kept walking- not bothersome at all. The property is right next door to the Atlantis property which is very convenient. From the Riu you can also walk into town, it took us about 40 minutes. The restaurants do not accept reservations, which allows you to go to a different restaurant each night. We never found the wait long, they give you a buzzer and by the time you have a drink at the bar, your table is ready. Overall the only small thing we noticed was the lobby bar had a damp smell. Saying that, it didn't really interfere with our trip, it was our first time to the Bahamas and we loved the location of the hotel.

Riu Guanacaste: Riu ok

The room were clean. Wish we could of had a coffee maker in the room. We had paid extra for a room with a view. Unfortunately the balcony railing was made out of cement so we had to stand up to see over it. Great weather. I will return to Costa Rica but not at this hotel.

Riu Guanacaste: Riu guanacasta

Beautiful location Isolated and quiet Clean rooms and grounds Plenty of food and good selection There was plenty of food Entertainment was like any other resort Bar service was a little slow but friendly A simple coffee machine would of been nice

Riu Flamingos: Not what i was expecting from a Riu

Booked with Sunwing and what a mistake that was. The flight delayed three hours each way, but that’s obviously not the hotels fault. The hotel it’s self is very nice looking, the grounds are very clean and well kept, and the beach is amazing. The rooms are average, what you’d expect from a four star resort. The service and food on the other hand is not. Most of the dishes are cold, greasy and sometimes under cooked. I’ve stayed at a few different Riu locations and this one by far had the [... read more] worst food. Many times during the lunch and dinner buffet you’d have to take multiple trips around the buffet to find something to eat because the selection was not great. The service is also pretty spotty. The pool bars were great (aside from no pool side waitstaff), but the Lobby/main bar was horrendous. There were always long lines to get a drink at night and only one waitress coming around to tables that didn’t take drink orders for some reason and was only collecting empty glasses and shuffling around chairs. It wasn’t the worst place I’ve ever been to but it was a disappointing experience and definitely not what I was expecting from a four star Riu.

Riu Playa Blanca: Panama

Our trip was awesome. Wonderful food, fantastic weather and clean resort. Although, I did not find the staff very friendly. I do consider myself a respectful smoker but I was not happy to find out that there was smoking only on beach. This resort did not have service on beach or at pool area.

Riu Palace Punta Cana: Average resort

Was excited coming into the hotel. Lobby was nicely decorated and airy, check-in staff was great. Disappointed in our room. Although it was spacious, cleanliness could have been better. Floor needed to be swept, bed only had one sheet (stains) and four pillows. It took 4 days and many requests before we got extra blankets. The bathroom had been recently renovated but looked rushed. Don't rely on cleaning staff, not very good. The grounds well kept, beach / pool fantastic (wake up early and reserve a chair with your towel). Buffet was good, didn't care for the a la carte Steakhouse. No entertainment unless your a child. They played kid games and videos on the stage / big screen until 930pm every night. Then a two person singing group played..no English music. It was annoying being constantly disturbed by people trying to sell their wares on the grounds. Do not take the Santo Domingo bus tour..it cost 106.00 per person and was a 13hr bus trip from hell. This was our first and last trip to the Dominican.

Riu Republica: Excellent resort, had a wonderful time.

I loved the resort had a great time, friendly people great food. Would definetly return in the near future. The rooms were clean and had a great selection of alcohol as well as a beer fridge. Very comfortable stay, had fun in and off the resort. The entertainment was excellent as well as the food.

Riu Yucatan: Good resort

Nice vacation at Riu Yucatan. Very close to Playa Del Carmen and other activities. Nice food but a bit crowdy and 'cafeteria like' eating areas. Comfortable and clean room. Very nice beach. We went there in February and the water was cold.

Riu Guanacaste: Amazing Vacation at Riu Guanacaste

This vacation was amazing... Our group ranged in age but there was something for everyone nearby. The resort staff were all friendly and helpful. There is so much to see and do...no need for lengthy drives on excursions. Diamante Park kept everyone in the family busy for an entire day for a resonable price. There were monkeys almost everywhere on and near the resort. Snorkeling was expecially exciting. Many schools of fish, Manta Rays as well as a sighting of a whale shark. Shopping exper [... read more]ience by boat taxi toTamarindo as well as a short shuttle ride to El Coco Beach was fun for all. Would return here in a heart beat!
