VH Gran Ventana Beach Resort: Great Resort

The grounds and Public area at Gran Ventana were well kept on a daily basic. We enjoyed the room, which was cleaned daily and the fridge stocked daily, yes daily. Drinking water was always available when needed. The Dining was well laid out and the food was good and always had choices. Well enjoyed by us both, we will return. PS the Nightly shows was so much fun as well.

Sunscape Puerto Plata: Great resort!

Stayed at Sunscape in May 2018 with my 26 year old daughter. Well laid out resort easy walking distance to pool, restaurants and beach. 20 minutes from airport. Room check in not till 3 but they store your luggage, so pack your bathing suit and sunscreen in your carry on and start enjoying your vacation as soon as you are there. Buffet restaurant had lots of food choices and the 4 a la cartes were excellent and unlimited to return. Service was excellent. Beach is public so be prepared to have many locals coming up to you trying to sell you things. Only negative - our building #11 was noisy. mainly it was just the partiers coming back from the disco and continuing the party in their rooms or families returning late evening after the show and their kids running and screaming throughout the open concept hallways that was the problem. When you are on vacation, you don’t always consider your actions and how they affect others. Several people we met moved to another building and were very happy with their relocation. We stayed because we were happy with our room location on the 3rd floor and we happened to have wifi in our room. I would definitely go back to this resort. Not sure how or who determines hotel ratings but I think it is definitely 4/4+.

VH Gran Ventana Beach Resort: Peeps working there phenomenal

Everything done to perfection. Staff care, well spoken, very helpful. Beach good, resort size big enough to be spacious yet cozy to be intimate. Food good. Pool/s good. If need to have one balancing thing, could be more umbrellas around the pool.

Iberostar Waves Costa Dorada: Great Resort

This resort is small but has everything you need. Food is great, pool is nice, and the rooms are comfortable, although they could be cleaner. Please note that during the slow season (spring-summer months), they accept locals on the weekends, which makes it very busy and loud. We found it particularly inconvenient because we were there with kids, and the pool was less accessible to us during those days. Otherwise, good resort.

VH Gran Ventana Beach Resort: Nice even resort

We returned home again from the Gran Ventana this has been our 9th time there.We were celebrating our 32 anniversary and my husbands birthday. We were upgraded to a junior suite with ocean view received a fruit basket and a bottle of rum. Our room is always clean and the maids very pleasant and friendly, most we have come to know over the years and still see many of the same faces every time we return. They buffet provides a variety of foods always something to choose from. Ala carts are good and have changed it up abit always for the better.The beach is clean lots of new lounger this year and was much needed.All the same vender on the beach greeting us everyday very friendly or not. The only thing that really needs improvement is the nightly entertainment, still the same old same old, we usually opt out to spend time with friends we've met there in the past or new aquaintances every year we meet some wonderful people, some we keep in touch with. The staff at the front desk are very friendly and obliging always willing to accommodate. We have been here many times and would come back in a heart beat. Our travel adviser Carrol Webber is amazing as well we have booked other trip through her and she is beyond helpful giving info and getting info and with other trips always there when we called even with some pretty lame questions, she's the best

First I want to start with the good things.The hotel as amazing regarding shows, entertainment, service and food in the a la carte restaurants.Next the bad follows.The a la carte not booking policy is a totally wrong idea, from 4 restaurants 2 are closed every day and the waiting time to get a table is 1 hour or more.So, go the buffet where the choices are not many, same food everyday.Now the front desk reception staff. The day before leaving, I called again, this time they never came. The water is not being fit for taking a shower, when you try to mix cold and hot it comes like every second burning then switches to freezing.One of the 2 showers located close to beach area had the faucet valve not working properly and nobody did something to fix it all 7 days I've stayed there.When I went to the reception to talk to them, the staff there were taking calls, or even going to back room, not speaking with me, left me waiting for minutes with no answers.When I' ve called in Canada the last day, they tried to overbill me even I had the watch set for how many minutes I used.More hen that, they excused they do not have change for a 10 $ US bill, I had to go outside of the hotel to buy something, some real beer what they never have. Finally, I saw a lady waitress dropping a fork on the floor when she was preparing the tables.Naturally, she took it from the dirty floor and put it back on the table.No cleaning. no germs, no bacteria.The hotel manager was never available, every time when I asked for him, he was taking lunch or dinner, very busy person.The beach area reserved is the size of a volley field.From the 5 bars they advertised on the website they have only 2.This hotel is rated 4.5 stars, I would not give them even 3.Good luck for everybody going there!

Iberostar Waves Costa Dorada: Wonderful Getaway!

Just returned from a week at the Iberostar (for the 5th time!) and it was excellent as always. Cannot say enough about the amazing staff here. We are also spoiled as members to have a cart to whisk us from one end of the resort to the other, our favorite drivers Samuel and Johan deliver us safely and quickly to any point on the resort that we wish to go. In the lobby Yunior, our muscle man is always ready to take those heavy packages (filled with organic chocolate from the Del Oro chocolate factory just up the road from here) to help us to our room. Our hats are tipped to alllllll of the amazing kitchen/cooking/serving staff. The food is endless, the variety is overwhelming and the flavors have never left us disappointed. These people work hard and serve up some of the yummiest cuisine that keeps us coming back for more. To round out the day and make every moment memorable the entertainment staff is never far away with a high five, crazy game or bang on dance moves. You will see Justin Bieber, WiFi, Blondie, Maria and countless others from the beach to the pool and everywhere in-between waiting to provide you with fun and laughter in the sun. Last but not least, easily overlooked are the grounds keepers and the cleaning staff. These people put in their fair share of hours each day keeping things looking fabulous and always greet you with a smile and a kind word. If you have not been here it may be time!

Bahia Principe Grand San Juan: Beautiful resort

The grounds were beautiful it was very clean and everything was emaculate ,they were very quick to help in every request . The entertainment during the day could have been a little more upbeat and a little more interaction with the guests . The nightly entertainment was a little to repetitive always the same music for the kids show and the adult shows could have been more elaborate and entertaining the beach party was cancelled and then had an audience interaction show that wasn't very good . The pools needed more attention to the cleaning procedures ,often seen very dirty looking so went to the ocean . All in all was a great holiday just didn't enjoy the long bus ride to the resort .

VH Gran Ventana Beach Resort: Fun in the Sun with Hot Wife

Loved the service at the buffet. Andres, Denny and Rosa are the best servers we have ever had. Beach is nicer than any of the nearby resorts. Beautiful grounds. The food at the buffet and al a carts was very good.

VH Gran Ventana Beach Resort: Great Vacation, Fun Staff, great food

A well maintained place, with friendly staff, you need to have a dinner at the Octopus for the Salmon. The only down side was the wind ( May 8 to May 15) picking up around noon and making the beach very un-usable. Snorkeling can be done literally 20 feet's away from the beach

VH Gran Ventana Beach Resort: The best resort

This was our seventh stay at the Gran Ventana. It is a very well managed resort. The staff are all amazing and make you feel welcome. You are recognized as returning guests. It is super clean, the rooms are spacious, the food and drinks are delicious. There are three excellent a la cartes restaurants. The beach is beautiful. We can't wait to go back again!

Lifestyle Tropical Beach Resort: Had a great time with a few exceptions

We found the resort great we were there for two weeks ,our room was a bit dated , but only slept in it. We spent 95 percent of our time on the beach. Bartender jorjie at the tropical beach bar made the best Lubumba drinks . The Casablanca buffet was the best. Food was always fresh . They had a few special dinner nights that were great the VIP pool party one night , but the welcome party is a must. The real downfalls were the Internet only free at the beach area, the closing of the beac [... read more]h at 6 pm, and the constant pushy time share guys. They learned quick to not bug us again. Oh the entertainment was just ok . And the night snack place was not so great. But all in all we met great people ,shared many drinks and dinners with them . I would return at any time

Iberostar Waves Costa Dorada: Think twice if you are looking for a 4 star or better

Based decision on reviews. Resort is run down and service is hit or miss. Food was not great, cooks very accomodating, working with what they have.Some genuinely great staff, many walk around looking miserable. As a woman I found many of the male staff to be unfamiliar with respectful interaction with women, other female guests noticed this also. Weather was great. Punta cana is much better.

Marien Puerto Plata Hotel: Great place to vacation

Be-Live Is a very friendly place to vacation the people that work there are very nice and friendly I will recommend to all To go and have a good time the food in very nice and the pool is great in all 10+ Will see you next year

Blue Bay Villas Doradas: Excellent

My husband and I just return from Blue Bay Villas Dorados and we loved the resort . Resort was small well landscaped and very clean and the people who are working there were very kind and pleasant and helpful in any situation. Food was excellent and plenty of variety in a lovely setting restaurant. My husband and I definitely will return and recommend this resort for any age group.

Viva Heavens by Wyndham: not worth it

My room the bathroom shower backed up everyday with no help from the staff. There was never hot water in the shower. The was terrible. The staff was rude and looked down on you and would not help you when you asked for help or had a need., They gift shop everything in it was over priced like 15.00 american for two bags of chips. Would never go back there again . I was bored within two days there

The resort was clean and the rooms were huge. The entertainment staff work there butts off from 10 am to 2am. The pool was small and they only had two bars one by the pool and one by the ocean so there was always a line up. The staff looked down on you if you weren't handing them money all the time. Some [... read more]times the maids didnt lave leave two towels and two face clothes. Sometimes there was just one of each left which did work out well with two people in a room. The pool towels were in huge supply, I don't think they wash they I think they just kept putting them in the dryer never smelled cleaned every time. The all you can eat buffet was the same thing everytime. The food didn't taste that great at all. Everything in the kitchen tasted over cooked or tasted like crap. the resort never had much to do there at all. just beach or the pool. You were always being asked by sales people selling message hair braids or necklaces like crazy.

Puerto Plata Village: Exactly what I expected.

After staying in Puerto plata, sosua and cabarete 17 times I can honestly say this resort was exactly what I expected. It is a 3 star so did not expect all the frills of a 4 or 5 star. The staff was friendly and helpful. The good was ok but not top of the line. We never starved. The beach buffet had the best food. I read reviews of people complaining about locals on the resort but hey, it's there island so let them enjoy it. I did however pick the wrong weekend to start vacation as it was about  [... read more]day weekend. And it was packed with locals. So it was very busy. We met lots of nice people while there. The rooms were clean as were the grounds. And of course there were plenty of drinks. The mall is close by to walk to and shop or eat at. All in all it was a good trip.

VH Gran Ventana Beach Resort: Our Second Home

This was our 4th trip to the VH Gran Ventana. The people, food and service is amazing!!!! We have found our home away from home!!!! The beach could use a few more sun huts. We will be back!!!!!
