Arrival was very smooth. Hour and half from airport which is tiring after three and half hour flight. Arrive to Grand Memories then transferred to Sanctuary section. Rooms were large and updated. Butler service was awesome. All of the staff there were wonderful. Paola the general manager was always available. Anya my maid was absolutely wonderful. My daughter was on the 3rd floor she had two amazing butlers. Yagniel and Pedro. I was on the main floor and I had two amazing butlers as well. Leon a[... read more]nd Carlos. Melisa in the buffet was always accommodating. The buffet is outdoors and the mosquitos are terrible. Bring lots of bug spray an use sunscreen as I received 2nd degree burns not paying proper attention. Would I go back? In a heartbeat. It was wonderful. The best part, as always, was the beach and the people. I have made many friends there from past trips. Janny in the Paraiso lobby bar. Rene, chicken man, cart driver and now all my new friends from the sanctuary side. Peaceful and relaxing. I will go again.

Memories Caribe Beach Resort: Disappointing
This was our fourth trip to Cuba, so we felt that we had our expectations in check. We bring extras to survive the culinary challenges and go to Cuba for the beaches and the people. Unfortunately after this experience, I don't know if I will ever return to Cuba again. The resort did not meet our expectations, and although we travelled for much less than we usually do during March break, what good is a vacation when you are counting down the days to get the hell out of there?
The food was be[... read more]yond bad. Absolutely no selection and they ran out of staples (orange juice, mangos, pineapples, gin, ice cream at the ice cream parlour, chicken, shrimp etc.) The restaurants were a constant topic among the guests as most people left during their meal. Pulling something off the buffet and writing "Cuba" in ketchup just doesn't cut it. Every person we associated with during our stay had some form of food poisoning while we were there.
The resort is misrepresented on line. The first room they put us in was absolutely disgusting! I didn't even want to sleep in it for a single night. Stains everywhere on everything, holes in linens, unbelievable. This was nothing like the rooms pictured on line. After complaints, the run-around, and promises about the review I'd write when I got home, we did get a room change the next day, but what a way to start off our holiday. I will never visit a Memories resort again and may never venture back to this island.
The beach was beautiful, but you had to get a chair by 8:30 am or you were out of luck heaven forbid they let you use one from the "exclusive diamond club" section that had a total of 3 couples there the whole week and a plethora of beach chairs and space. As I said very disappointed by this resort.

Resonance Blu Varadero: 5th time here, last time as well..
Hotel has gone downhill. Apparently there is a 10 year contract and they are almost done the contract, therefore they seem to have stopped caring..
I got married at Memories Varadero in October 2015 and it was beautiful. My spouse and I loved it. They have stopped maintaining it and it's clearly showing.
Grounds are not kept as clean as they were. Rooms are outdated and full of mould..
Pools are pretty bad and the excuse was they were out of chlorine. Therefore the pools were neon [... read more]green, kids swimming and coughing up Band-Aids. It was quite disappointing.
Alcohol was always out.
Food was still good but the flies and birds were a little too much. They don't take any measures to ensure the flies and birds stop.
Overall it was ok but will not likely return..

Memories Flamenco Beach Resort: Average
Grounds.. Good
Public Area.... Good
Rooms... Could be better. No coffee maker. Had to phone for one.
Dining... Could do better
Features.. Good beach....Not enough shade to sit.
Waiters/Waitress.... Good
Grounds beautiful. Great layout of rooms and other facilities - quiet and private. Evening entertainment was very good. People friendly. Beach - plenty of room for lounging and tanning, even shaded areas. Beach bar and restaurant - good service. A la carte restaurants, good atmosphere and service. Room cleanliness (we had a recently renovated room) was very good, modern updated furnishings--chamber maid was thorough.
Of note: main buffet restaurant is not air conditioned. We noticed a[... read more] lack of consistency in terms of standards for food handling and storage. Cold areas are not iced (salad/fruit/deli meats and cheese), the existing refrigeration is not sufficient. Cross contamination is a real issue/risk at this buffet. Staff picks at the food during service, which is off putting, when they should be working. Food options are very limited. Anyone with allergies should be wary of this resort.
General store, souvenirs, and booking a la carte all handled very well by the staff in those areas.
The Deli (snacks) was very inconsistent in terms of service/selection and availability. There is a notice on the windows in the shops area of the resort indicating a third party contractor is responsible, and not the hotel staff/management. Hotel owners/management should provide more oversight, as this has created negative experiences for the guests.
We have travelled to Cuba many times, and to many other all inclusives, and this one ranked among the lowest in terms of food offerings. (even for Cuba)

Sol Turquesa Beach: Never go. They change their name to trick you
I was at this resort 3 years ago but it was under a different name. I got fooled by them once they changed the name and when I got there I realized I got screwed. Rooms are 1 km away. The place is on a hill so millions of stairs. The buffet was garbage. The banking lady was taking 3 hour lunches. Nobody wants to work there. Just avoid it pay a little extra and enjoy your vacation somewhere else.

Sanctuary at Grand Memories Varadero: Romantic Getaway - Awesome!
We just returned from a fab vacay July 10-17, 2017 and plan to go back Sept. 2017.
The Sanctuary Grand Memories, Adults Only resort is amazing and we cannot say enough good things.
We are definitely beach people so would spend our day there, then to the pool late in the day. The beach is beautiful and well maintained, not crowded, designated area for the resort Diamond Club members which included bar service right to your lounge chairs and no children. Draw back is the washrooms are quit[... read more]e a walk from the beach if required.
Most days the staff at the beach would ask non Diamond Club members & guests with children to move to another area. This was appreciated as we do pay extra to be in this section.
Another draw back is the entertainment at the pool or lack of.....but as mentioned, we spent a majority of the time at the beach. The bar at the pool and food is very good....you even get bar service while in the pool.....enjoyable!
We requested our housekeeper Jeny who is adorable, friendly, soft spoken and would keep our room immaculate with fresh towels and little surprises each day sometimes with fresh flowers, towels in different shapes etc. She is the resorts gem!!!!!!
Our Butler Hanoy made great friends with my partner sharing their passion for baseball. Both having played baseball and my partner who had tried out for teams in the MBL, they certainly bonded and have become great friends.
Butlers Jose, Abel, Mauricio & Rubin were terrific as well.
The staff in the Sanctuary bar lounge and restaurant are fun to be with, friendly and smiling. We had no issues with food, presentation was beautiful. The bartender Julian is another baseball fan who was enjoyable to talk with......
The resort cart driver Tony is a character, funny and can tell he loves his job and meeting guests. He will make the drive to the main resort lobby or restaurants a blast, so cheerful.
The big disappointment was the entertainment hours in the Sanctuary lounge. The bands would only play from 9:00-10-10:30.......The bands interacted with the guests, getting them to sing along, dance etc. but they need to extend the hours of the live music. Crazy not having the bands until at least midnight.....Not sure why this changed or perhaps being low season.....This really needs to improve!
All the staff at the resort are friendly and have big smiles. The grounds are impeccably well maintained. The walk to the beach is super close!
Special thank you to the new Director of the resort Mateusz Kos and Residence Services Lucia for making our stay so memorable.....
I would highly recommend Candice Anger as your travel agent. Candice is an experienced agent and most helpful, outgoing and goes out of her way to meet your requests and help assure you pick the right location for your vacation. She makes your vacation a dream......Thank you Candice for making our recent trip one of the best and look forward to working with you on more trips in the future....

Memories Flamenco Beach Resort: Not as advertised
My family and I visited this resort from July 7-14 this year, my kids are 2 yrs and 4 yrs.
This was not my first trip to Cuba but first time to Cayo Coco. Check in was smooth, we requested a balcony suite, with an extra bed and a room close to my parents who also attended this trip. They were very accomadating with these requests. We also pointed out it was my parents anniversary and my wife's birthday that week, and nothing special was done. The rooms are outdated but seemed very cozy. There [... read more]were tones of cockroaches and many other creepy crawly friends all week long. They seemed to have stationed a Maintenace worker whom I cannot account for all day but making various trips back and forth from the room his task seemed to be to catch softball size tarantulas. The pools had lots of missing tiles, cracked tiles, and trip hazards. The food was with few exceptions from time to time the same throughout the entire week. I actually got a laugh from going to the 24hr snack bar, and asking for calamari everyday only to be told maybe tomorrow. This was something I didn't see all week. The food is really horrible at this snack bar but given this is suppose to be family resort it is the only option after breakfast buffet is closed and reopens for lunch at 1pm. Anybody with young kids would have to agree this is not favourable. The first day we arrived I had an uncooked burger served to me. For the buffet, there were long 10-15 minute lines for the short order cooks, who work extremely hard but can't fulfill the demand. Most of the workers work very hard here but they definitely work off tips, to the point where they are looking at the denomination right in front of you. The theatre, buffet sometimes and the cereole restaurant we're uncomfortably hot, to point people were walking out. They need to invest in ceiling fans at the very least. We didn't partake in the nightly entertainment but did the kids shows that were on before it. The biggest joke was the Toopy & Binoo they advertise because it was a 2 minute on stage act followed by a quick photo op. I don't blame them we were uncomfortable so I could imagine it being extremely hot for them. Activities throughout the day were not geared toward kids, although they had a great time at the beach foam party. The only thing going for this resort is the beach is truly breathtaking. After the 3rd day we had enough of this resort. I've never come home from a trip and had to not bring in all my luggage because I was worried about bugs. I gave this resort a 2 star rating but really it's a 1 star resort with a 5 star beach. They kept playing this themed "Memories" song but the only thing that came to my mind was memories I want to forget. Luckily my kids are still young and probably won't remember this awful resort. I just don't want someone looking for a family resort vacation and to make the same mistake we did. I'll never visit a memories resort or go to Cuba again.

Memories Flamenco Beach Resort: Not what was expected
I will say the grounds are well kept. Advertised as a kids resort, however, it is far from it.The restaurants need A/C and fans in the lounge and entertainment areas. These were infested with mosquitos. It was very uncomfortable to dine while sweating like you were working out. We are very fair at giving tips. From the time we were picked up upon arrival, we were asked to tip generously to the bus driver. Tips should at the discretion of the customers, not by asking. They should devote this time [... read more]to the orientation, instead of asking people to go to one the next day. This resort has a huge issue with Tarantulas and other bugs. The room we had is in need of big repairs but, it was well cleaned. I have dealt with Cathy Milner twice and have no issues with her. But, I do think in all fairness to customers, there should be a referral, if the rep has not personally been to a resort. Meals are repetitive. Please don't tell me that "Well this is Cuba," it is a families vacation that is paid for by working hard for the money to go somewhere. The beach is a five star but, this is only 2.5 in my opinion and I have been to Cuba six times and enjoyed it until now. The Sunwing rep was not a nice person to deal with at all. However, I have no issues with Sunwing itself, as this was our first time flying with this company. We liked their service. I'm not writing this to win anything or try to get anything. My all inclusive days are likely over.

Memories Caribe Beach Resort: Gorgeous beach, resort is ok
The hotel & grounds were really pretty. The pool was large & clean. The room was clean & the bed very comfortable. I barely had any hot water during my stay but my cousins did have hot water in their room.
The food was ok. I really enjoyed the Asian restaurant.
The only negative was lack of entertainment. After the show there was really nothing to do other then the piano bar. Even at that, there was no music unless you paid the performers. There should be some music/entertainment throughout the[... read more] resort. To go to a club u would have to leave the resort.

Memories Caribe Beach Resort: Great resort!
We visited the Memories Caribe resort in Cayo Coco Cuba the last week of June. We really loved this resort. The beach is amazing! We had a renovated room which was fresh, clean and had a comfortable bed. The service was great and staff were very friendly. Food was average but always enough to eat - mini pizzas on the beach were very tasty. We will definitely be back!

Memories Caribe Beach Resort: beautiful beach but that's it!
The beach was amazing. The resort rooms are in desperate need of renovations. the grounds are well kept. MOSQUITOES were out of control, they did not spray until it was too late at night. The service was mediocre, they gave more attention to their colleagues/phones then to guests. The beach chairs were broken and the papas did not protect from sun, they need to put palm tree leaves to create shade.

Sanctuary at Grand Memories Varadero: tranquil side of Grand Memories
The hotel grounds, rooms and amenities are good. The snack bar is convenient for those who like to stay by the pool. Food is okay. The restaurant is quite nicely decorated although it did not have any air conditioning (Temperatures soared to 32 during my vacation, which is great outside, but not indoors )
Food was again, okay. The bar and lounge was great! Nice and cool, great place to sit and watch the TV, or connect on the WIFI. The hard working staff is what makes the difference here. They [... read more]are great! I ensured to tip them always!!
The beach is amazing. Lounging area at the sanctuary side is quite small, although we found comfortable lounge chairs and shade in the morning. ( keep in mind June is low season) be sure to buy the delicious pineapple drink in the actual pineapple from the beach vendor! There is a small bar in the middle of the forest path to the beach. Great for mojitos, beers and soda pop. Overall, it is the staff that make this a great resort!
