Catalonia Riviera Maya: Solid 4 star

This was my 4th trip to thr property and I do love it. The brach is nothing to write home.about, it's rocky and definitely not the "long moonlit walks on the beach place. The food at the buffet was varied, breakfast and lunch had the best selecrions, dinner was kind of repetative Of the a al cartes, i dont usuly go to them as im fond of food from a local pub, ww did wat out at the burger once this visit and it was very food. From previous trips there i know the a la cartes to be nice. Ser [... read more]vice is excellent except rhey could use one more FT bartender at the swim up bar on the RM sIde just to attend to the walk ups. Overall it's a good resort in a pretty and safe location and I will come back again.

Krystal Grand Puerto Vallarta: Great Resort

We loved this medium sized resort, the location was wonderful. All of the hotel service staff were amazing! We did have a hurricane warning while we there, was wishing the stafff would have been more informative to the guests on where to go and what to do.

Royalton Riviera Cancun Resort and Spa: Family Vacation

The check in to the Diamond Club was by far the worst experience we have had in the many Royaltons we have vacationed at. Two hours to check in and they didn't have the rooms we had requested. They over booked! The food, staff, butler service , drinks were very good. The grounds , lobby. and main bar area was terrific. The resort is very large when you include the adult only section, however, getting around the complex was fairly easy.

Barcelo Maya Tropical: Great place

We enjoyed our week complaint free I would recommend to friends Looks like a good place for children Pool was clean and there was lots to do if you didn’t want to just sit by the pool we will go back again next year

Barcelo Maya Palace: Great expansive resort complex

The grounds of this resort are immaculate. Be prepared for a lot of walking. Would not recommend for someone with limited mobility. Specialty restaurants are first class and we dined at one of them every evening for 10 days. Buffets were adequate. Something for everyone. Excellent friendly staff. Be sure to tip them for their hard work and overall a great experience

Catalonia Grand Costa Mujeres: Buffet food was very ordinary

Imagine waiting 45 minutes in the morning everyday for breakfast. After the wait each day we would be asked for room number, allergies (all this can be done one time) and then wait for some more time for a server to come and take you to an empty table. Never had this experience in Mexico or the Carribean at any of the resorts. Buffet food is very ordinary and the same food was available everyday, sometimes recycled during lunch or dinner. Despite informing the reception, no proper action was taken or feedback from a manager was given to us.

Platinum Yucatan Princess: Again...The Best!!

Arrived January 9th 2025 for a spectacular 7 days. Check-in, a breeze. Very courteous. Luggage brought to the room in an instant. The room was clean, fresh smelling and all amenities were in order. We were in a Jr swim Up suite. Bldg #4. Fantastic location. Pool was perfect temp. We were in the middle of everything. Main (Foam party) pool...but off the beaten path for quiet. Drinks were generous (bring your own drinking vessel). Bring a floatie and water shoes. Most of the activities were around [... read more] this main pool. The quiet area was Bldg 5 swim up bar area. Still, a great place to unwind. The food!!!! OMG!! Eat at Bruschetta and Kotatsu. The buffet also had everything to your liking... The snack bar at the beach had great burgers and fries for those in between or missed meals. If you do anything...GET a Deep Tissue Massage from Isabel...Wow...just Wow!! When you go to the buffet...ask for FANNIE's section. She is the best at her position. Always attentive and remembers all the little things (English breakfast tea, no milk...right there when we go for our dessert) The cons...and there are just a few...could be a big deal if this is what you absolutely MUST HAVE.. The beach...lack lustre. The sargasm only came up once...so it's not that. We are at an adult resort. The only place to swim is about 1km walk along the beach to the family section. The water is beautiful. but, full of kids with unattentive parents. There is an area with VIP "Blue Towels" that is roped off...it was near empty. We paid for VIP services at our Resort but were not able to access this prime area. This made our beach visit down to 3 days of 7. COCO BONGO---DO NOT WASTE YOUR $$$$$...crowded to unsafe fire code. Food was hot dogs from a fridge, slider burger was 1/2oz patty...fries were from a rancid oil fryer. AWFUL. The entertainment was terrible...Old ripped costumes of super heroes, The acts would come out in the 1 hour line up to take a pic with YOUR camera and then ask for money?? The QUEEN Lip Sync was cheesy, at best. The dancers costumes were in disrepair. Price 477.00 CAN. I am sure we could have dealt it down a little more. But that was what we paid. I know this is not part of the beach, pool, food...but they are allowed to sell this rip off on the resort, so they are responsible. Really put a sour taste because there are some great excursions...This is NOt one of them. All in All...We will Return...Can't wait...wish we stayed 2 weeks.

Dreams Sapphire Resort and Spa: Not as advertised

We went to this resort as it is owned by a very well known international Hotel chain that operates over 60 + resorts in Mexico, Caribbean and Overseas. The stock picture from the Dreams website was impressive, the room that we started with was not even close to reality, we confronted the issue with the front desk and we were graciously upgraded to a new section called Indigo. The initial cost of the Preferred room was not worth the additional cost, and the resort itself is in very sad tired con [... read more]dition. At best I would think that this resort should get a 3 star rating at best, food was average and service was the same and we would never GO BACK.

Royalton Riviera Cancun Resort and Spa: Very busy

We paid for an ocean view, all we saw were trees and the swimming pool. 3 separate front desk staff would not help us. We were 3 adults. It took almost 2 full days to get a third chair for our balcony. All vacationers must have gotten up at 3am to put a towel on all the chairs. We were able to sit at the pool only once during our 7 day stay. The beach chairs were close to the same. El Dorado Royale: good trip

this was a very nice resort, not a great beach though you can't really go into the water in front of the resort because its too choppy and there is big cement barriers in the water, did a day trip twice to the sister resort Moroma beach and it was amazing, found out on our last day from our taxi driver that there is lots of other stuff to do at our resort such as horse rides, cenotes etc that no one at our resort even told us about, it was tough to get fresh towels daily and some days they didn' [... read more]t even clean our rooms. You must make dinner reservations the very first day you arrive or you will have trouble getting in for dinner as they don't have a daily buffet restaurant, we had a larger group so it was a bit of a struggle and a few of our reservations got messed up. overall we had a great time because of the people we went with but I would likely not return here

Unico 20 87 Hotel Riviera Maya: Beautiful resort, perhaps not worth the price

I have been to Mexico about 8 times over the past dozen years, and I keep coming back to try new resorts as it always delivers sun, good food, and charming people to meet. Unico 20 87 was a resort I would not recommend for the price we paid. The good points included the resort itself, the rooms, the beach and the music/vibe. The resort was clean and modern, very nice. The music was upbeat and modern, a change from most other resorts. It gave the resort a youthful, but sophisticated vibe. And the pool area was a lot of fun, with live DJ on most days. The beach was one of the nicest I've been to in the riviera, clean and very swimmable. Some areas near cancun have waves that make it difficult to swim out in. The cons included the food not being consistently good, the watery drinks, and the staff morale. The food was hit or miss; I had some delicious meals; I had some I didn't want to finish. Examples included a hockey puck for a tuna steak, beef tacos full of fat and no real meat, and soggy nachos. The drinks served at the pool and beach are undoubtedly watered down; I spoke with quite a few other people and they agreed. There was no real flavour, even the juices felt watered down. And if you asked for a double shot, you still had zero taste of the alcohol. I ended up switching to beer, which was warm by the time you got it on the beach. I love going to mexico because I find the workers lively and friendly, even though this is hard work in hot weather for them. But almost every single staff member at Unico looked sad, rushed..... Literally, everyone but maybe 3 of them I met. Other resort-goers that I spoke to agreed, and even the staff on the bus that picked us up noticed it. They just look ... Depressed. I've never seen anything like it. I know it's hard work and long hours, but I've not seen unhappiness to this degree. The above negative points make me wonder what the company is doing top-down, to make the staff unhappy? The resort LOOKS beautiful, but these things make me wonder if it's cost-saving corner cutting going on behind the scenes. For these reasons, I would not recommend this hotel at the price we paid. We've gone to Haven Riviera Cancun and I would 1000% recommend that resort in lieu; the only thing Haven is missing is the modern vibe and fun pool that Unico has. It was the most expensive 1 weeker for us to-date, and we've had better experiences elsewhere.

Catalonia Royal Tulum: Wonderful time at this resort

The staff were very kind and responsive. The room was very clean and nice. The food was delicious with lots of choices. We felt really spoiled by the wonderful service. However we learned that the resort was only half full so likely the staff were not too overwhelmed. The beach was our favourite spot to hang out. Would consider a repeat visit.

Las Brisas Huatulco: Great Resort

We really enjoyed our stay at this resort. When talking with a repeat guest while on our trip, she stated " you don't come for the accommodations, you come for the nature and grounds." She was right. The resort grounds, the beaches, the plants, and the wildlife are what make this place special. The group I was with stated the snorkeling right at the resort was better than any paid excursion they had taken. The staff are amazing and there is always something going on to participate in. Sandos Caracol Nature Resort and Water Park: G R E A T

The Rooms were really nice, I had heard there was never hot water, but yes there is, just not as hot as we are use to in Canada. I felt the welcome meeting could have given us more information about things to do on the resort, currency, smoking areas, restaurants, meal times, etc. They were more concerned with outside trips. But some staff and other vacationers were awesome in filling in the gaps. Good shows, but no kids shows. And lack of information of where and when events were happening [... read more]. Also, we could have checked out later from our room at 20$ a hour but was never told of this option even though my ride left at 530. Definitely lack of information given. But overall a great trip, beautiful. Oh, and I never ever saw my maid or had any interaction with her/him.

Paradisus La Perla Adults Only Riviera Maya: Excellent in every way!

This was our second time staying at a Melia Peradisus resort and we have decided that this is the only brand we will use for future vacations. The accommodations, the staff, the service, the food, and the value were the best we have ever experienced at any resort. Thank You Melia Peradisus Playa Del Carmen.

Riu Palace Costa Mujeres: nice but not a 5 star

Riu's are predictable for a comfortable vacation. Should not have palace statis. Staff and food is always good. Has a great beach where you can walk for miles. Once a 5 star I believe it is in need of some upgrading. Costa Mujeres feels cold with its pure white artless hallways, almost hospital like. Clean, but basic rooms. But all in all its always a good time at a Riu

Riu Dunamar: Great Resort

Great experience. The resort was very clean. The rooms were cleaned everyday. The staff were always available to assist. The resort offered everything one is looking for in a holiday. I would recommend to a family with children. The pools and splash pads entertained everyone.

Grand Sunset Princess: Nice resort but too much coatis!

Nothing négative to mention about this hotel regarding food and facilities. Rooms are a bit outdated. Two negative points worth mentioning are rocky beach and really too much coatis. They are everywhere, some entering garbage cans, others stealing food directly from plates and even one was seen biting a woman while trying to eat a taco at the pool.

Viva Azteca by Wyndham: Beautiful compact resort

Beautiful well maintained grounds, very very clean resort, staff are constantly cleaning and upkeeping all areas of the resort, food was very good with plenty of proteins and fresh fruit. Enjoyed the Cafe with coffees and delicious deserts. Snack bar had great lunch menu. Rooms are very clean and spacious. Liked how close beach was to pool area.

Riu Flamingos: RIU Jalisco, Puerto Vallarta

RIU Jalisco is a nice resort. The decor is a bit dated for RIU standards. It will be undergoing a major 4 month renovation starting in August. We stayed for two weeks from Jan 3 - Jan 17. Check in was fast and easy. The staff are very friendly and helpful although not all speak English. The rooms are a decent size with two twin beds. Each room has a safe, mini bar and a mini fridge. The maids leave a 2 liter bottle of water each day. The rooms are made every day and the maids do a nice job w [... read more]ith decorations. We had a balcony but the noise from a nearby air conditioning unit took away any enjoyment. The food was very good with plenty of choices. The fried pork and beef could be a bit tough but there was plenty of fish choices. If you like steaks you may be disappointed. The main dining room was large and not busy if you go for the early sitting. There were three ala cart restaurants but we didn't bother with them. The beach restaurant is open so black birds fly in waiting to pounce on waste food. That was a bit annoying. There is a hamburger bar on the beach which was very popular. Apparently the hamburgers are fantastic. They serve about 300 hamburgers and 100 hot dogs daily.You can go for lunch at the nearby RIU Vallarta for a change of scenery. The beach is large and safe for children. At low tide (afternoon) the water goes out almost 100 feet which makes it great for walking. There are many beach lounges but they get reserved fast. So get there before 8am. There are many coconut trees for shade. There is a nice road in front of the resort with a pedestrian walkway in the middle. We saw many roller blading and cyclists using it. Very pleasant for walking after dinner. We walked into Bucerias (45-60 minutes each way) twice during our stay. There is plenty of entertainment. It has a children's play pool and three other adult pools. The towel exchange is good with plenty of fresh towels. The sports bar is open 24 hours and has plenty of TVs, a pool table and two PCs for guests to use. They serve sandwiches, hamburgers and hot dogs. I didn't try any. The cappuccino is good. Overall, it is a nice resort, excellent food, nice staff, free site-wide WiFi. Not the most modern but well worth a visit. It may not be to everyone's taste, but for me, it was fine. I would return.
