Sol Turquesa Beach: Good resort!

Very nice resort to stay at! Highly recommend. Clean rooms and very friendly staff. The beach is absolutely stunning and a spot to live on for the vacation. Definitely lots of stairs, they get easier everyday. There is alternate routes without stairs, but it's a longer walk. Pools were always clean and very nice ! Only down side, was the food. Same thing everyday, very slim variations with food choices. Highly recommend though!

Sol Turquesa Beach: A vacation gone bad

I have always kept an open mind while travelling anywhere. But this vacation turned out to be a disaster when I slipped and fell hitting my back on tile steps at the beginning of our trip.The resort is not accessible unless you are in the front buildings (100’s) It is dangerous when it rains as everything becomes slippery and there is a great deal of tile throughout. Playa Pesquero: had a great time

cant wait to come back again . and again love the area,it s like a home away from home . the Cubans are really good overall to the tourist s . made a lot of new friends . and old ones from year to year .

Aston Costa Verde Beach Resort: The Blau was ok

This was our 2nd time back, we really enjoyed our first time, obviously. They were much better than any other Cuban resort we had been to., and we have been to a few... This time however, was a little lack luster. Maybe we expected too much. Small point but, we never did get our Complimentary Bottle of Rum as returning guests... Leaking roofs in the Main Lobby and Main Dining room, to me are in unacceptable. They are steel roofs. FIX them. I was not a fan of ANY of the Entertainment. it was Amatuerish at best. and in most cases TOO LOUD.The food in the banquet room was fine. It didn't really change night to night, but it is Cuba after all. You don't go there for the food. The A LA Carts were nice. Service there was good as well. Service around the Bar I felt was Slow. I had a few incidents, but that was more on individual servers, and not fair to the whole group of them. But over all it was slow. Don't expect them to come to your table. Maybe if you TIP up front.... But I don't tip in hopes of Service, I tip FOR good service. Rooms were clean, Pools good. Don't know how you can replace missing tiles in a resort opened 365 days a year, so.... Its my opinion that you don't need music every where all day, every day. Some folks even brought in a Bose speaker to the Snack bar, blasted it out over the Pool Bar speakers that were 5 feet away. It shouldn't be our job to ask them to shut it down. We were also almost in a fight with some drunk people, and still no help from Bar staff. We had to handle it on our own. My 2nd biggest concern the broken glass (from the aforementioned drunk folks). In the Snack Bar around the Pool bars... even in the VIP dining room. It didn't seem to be a Top Priority to them. Internet was better, and cheaper than last time, so that was good. You could get in in many areas of the compound, not just the Lobby. Beach was good, although I question if they were draining septic into the ocean on the edge by the towel shack. Maybe its too much to ask but, speaking better English would be nice. We been coming since the 60s, tourism is a HUGE part of their Economy. Try having a conversation with them... people keep saying, "They try hard".... its been 60 some odd years! When will they get it? Americans will surely not put up with it. that will be interesting. in closing its OK. But you come to Cuba for the price and the weather, and the absence of Americans! lol

Don Lino Hotel: bad experience start to finish

rooms were mouldy big time and in a state of disrepair. 14 days saw no shower for seven! restaurant had brutal service medical staff no ability for even basic english communication. music horrifically loud at pool and was 9am to 10pm atleast. to much sexual tourism including the womans child a on more than one occasion. so sad to see. large groups of cubans smoking, swearing, boomboxes blaring would take over from 9 to 5, too often. the staff seem unable despite a desire to [... read more] remedy simple problems. big change for the worse in three years.

Paradisus Rio De Oro: very good scenic resort

This was our 3rd trip to Paradisus , and we liked the landscape, grounds , general hotel lobby area as much as ever. Most of all we once again enjoyed the friendliness and excellent service of the staff . We liked the small salad bar that is now set up for lunch at the Ocean Bar plus a reg. menu. Enjoyed the pig roast a lot which due to weather had to come into the Buffet Restaurant. One negative that surprised us: Out of 7 nights there we ended up seeing 3 shows that are actually regula [... read more]rly scheduled for 9:30 p.m. every night. The beach party was understandably cancelled due to weather and replaced by "international" ( not the least bit international ). The other nights nice music started at 7 p.m. but carried on as BAND - female and other. Instead of a program we had a band for 3 nights, that was not as before and certainly not as advertised. Never even saw one Cuban or Caribbean dance show- too bad !

Paradisus Rio De Oro: Best of Cuba

We have been to this resort twice! Something we never do, always looking for new things, but really loved this place. We upgraded to a cabin when we arrived this time and it was fantastic with an ocean view from our bed, private deck, near the pool and great outdoor shower! The entertainment wasn’t as good as we expected and unfortunately we had some cloudy and rainy days, but can’t blame them! We especially like that you can snorkel to corral right at the beach without having to book a [... read more] outing. Having been to 5 resorts 4+ stars in cuba, this is our favourite so far.

Playa Costa Verde: Not a 4 Star

This place is o.k. if you need a quick get away and are not fussy about quality of service, rooms and food. The cons: customer service at the front desk is limited and actually rude; staff in 24 hour snack bar were not attentive and seemed to only focus on certain guest; rooms are o.k. very basic; be picky with the food (got sick and was very particular). The pros: lobby bar is wonderful, staff in main dinning area including wait staff and cooks are very attentive, pool and beach bar a [... read more]re both good, beach is beautiful, while food was a concern the omelettes, fish when cooked well were good, desserts were a real treat.

Club Amigo Atlantico Guardalavaca: Worth Every Penny

The rooms were nothing fancy, but clean and had AC. Food was hit and miss, generally the buffet at the main lobby was better than the Garden View one. All of the staff were very friendly and helpful, and the alcohol servings were generous. Totally worth what we paid!

Club Amigo Atlantico Guardalavaca: wonderful time

This is my fourth time at Club Amigo and my husband's first. In fact it was our first time travelling together since we have been farming and have recently retired. In the past, one of us always had to stay with the farm. We had a villa room on the second floor at the very end of the resort. We love walking, the beach and morning coffee at the 24 hour cafe. Our ocean views were breathtaking even though we had a number of rainy windy days, it was still lovely moist air and not -27C.

Playa Pesquero: Playa Pesquero

We enjoyed our stay in Playa Pasquale, the staff were wonderful and the food a plenty. The grounds people were busy cleaning and repainting after their rainy season. We found our accommodations really nice but due to the damp climate things that were wooden or composite (like the inside of our closet were quite damaged) we made due. It was what it was and in the end didn’t effect our stay. Our beds were comfortable and the seating area very comfortable as well. It was nice to have our own balc [... read more]ony and chairs there as well. I loved the very huge pool area. We also enjoyed the beach. I would suggest taking water shoes to walk over the rocks along most of the shore line. The ocean water was beautiful and warmer than the pool. Even though we had some cloudy days and some misty rain we still swam everyday because it was still warm to us! PLEASE remember to ask for a receipt EVERY time you exchange money we were ripped off once and told NO to a request for a receipt. Our travel support reported the incident and told us to refuse to leave until we got a receipt next time but we had no replacement of our lost 4 pesos. The second time we insisted upon a receipt and as the receipt was passed to us so was an extra peso. Even though we experienced some negative things we would go back with gained knowledge. We will not go back flying with Air Transat though. We were delayed 2+ hours on the way over and 2+ hours on the way back. Air Canada flew there as well an hour earlier and was able to be on time no problem.

Aston Costa Verde Beach Resort: Relaxing vacation

Had a nice relaxing week here. Resort was not too busy. All staff very nice, although felt pressure to tip frequently at bars. Bartenders simply were not as friendly if they didn’t receive a peso after every drink served. Felt we were ignored by staff at bars when they were conversing with Cuban vacationers. Food comparable to other Cuban resorts. Great that snack bar is open 24/7. Beach beautiful though was grateful that we brought our water shoes as it’s quite rocky in an out of water. Sew [... read more]age smell noted in ocean and beach area, possibly a result of the recent rains. Grounds well kept, though notably aged. We noted that clean up of broken glassware was not highly prioritized. At one point I picked up glass from the floor of the buffet patio. My husband picked up glass near the Club House bar at the beach. My father in law witnessed a glass be dropped at the snack bar one evening. The next day large remnants of it were still there. I am not sure of smoking regulations in Cuba, though there was no regard for maintaining smoke free areas for non-smokers and children.

Club Amigo Atlantico Guardalavaca: It was ok .

I enjoyed it more last April. Noticed a lot of smokers this time . 3out of 5 on the cleanliness. Washrooms were smelly . Couple of room issues . No upkeep on the swimming equipment. Food was reasonable ( didn't go for the food ) get towels for swimming early or they run out . I would go back but with lower expectations. Cheap rooms are terrible.

Paradisus Rio De Oro: great resort

Food is very good ,but overall its the staff who make the this place a paridise,cant name all of them ,but special thanks to Rolando! Its our 4 time there and looking foward to go back agian.Very relaxing cause its adult only.

Playa Pesquero: Magical vacation

Everything was excellent ! Everyone was super welcoming. The grounds, the roms, the view, the activities offered, the food, the Ball, the service were out of this world! Other than not having the experience of the katharamans because of the rain we still had a magical time. It was excellent ! For our first vacation ever, it will be a vacation we will never, never forget and will definitely return.

Playa Pesquero: Worst holiday ever

This hotel was not anywhere near a five star. Rooms were dirty and mouldy. Staff was rude and not helpful. Food was awful and drinks were bad. This was my first trip to Cuba and I will never go back. Don’t wast your money ...

Playa Pesquero: Once again a fantastic stay!!

This was our 8th stay at the Pesquero, and it was fabulous! We noticed many updates and improvements. The staff is amazing and we will definately go back again!! We went with family members who had never been before and they asked was there anything bad about this resort...my answer was "the end"

Aston Costa Verde Beach Resort: Hotel was dated but clean!

Had a great trip even though it rained 6 out of 7 days. We stayed in the regular section, it was dated but clean. Staff was very responsive to any issues. The beds were not the comfiest but fine. Food was pretty good. Italian for lunch was our favourite! The beach was rocky but we were fine with our water shoes. Snorkeling was great although we only got do it the last day because of the weather, although the kids loved the rough ocean just as much! Playa Pesquero: So worth it!

This resort is very welcoming! The staff is friendly and courteous. But maybe a bit under staffed since it is such a big hotel. The buffet was actually pretty good and the à la carte restaurants were amazing! There was also a pig roast on 2 of the days that we were there. Their coffee station was my favorite.I was disapointed with the night time entertainement. In fact, there was hardly any. The beach and pool are very clean. If I was to make any suggestions, it would be to have more garba [... read more]ge cans in the lobby and to update their washrooms (some toilets didn't even have seats and alot of them didn't flush).

Club Amigo Atlantico Guardalavaca: Enjoyed our stay

We went as a family of 6 and enjoyed our stay. The first impression when we walked through the doors was that it was a typical all inclusive place. We were quick to get to the counter to register for our rooms. The girl working was friendly and quick to assign us to 3 rooms. Fortunately we were able to get the rooms very close to each other. The food a [... read more]t the resort buffet was typical Cuban. Not a lot of flavour. We had no problem finding enough to eat. Lots of choices. We did eat at 2 of the 4 Al le cartes. Benny's was the first one we ate at. It was great. Great atmosphere and the food was terrific. Serving staff were happy to help us and very quick to make sure we had everything that we needed. One of the kids has a fish allergy, so they were very accommodating to make sure that no fish came in contact with his order. A couple nights later we ate at one of the other restaurants (can't remember the name of it). The food was fantastic, great service and a lot of fun. The beaches were beautiful. Not over crowded (this would be due to the resort not bursting at the seams with vacationers). Grounds were clean and well manicured. Drinks were well poured (if you like rum). Quick service at the bars and happy servers that would help select the right drink for that day or night. One issue that happened a couple of times through the week is the power would go off in the Tropical rooms area. I don't know if the power outage was on the whole resort or just contained to our area. It didn't really affect us at all. Was just dark for a couple minutes. Generally the power was returned to normal quickly. All is all we had a great family vacation and would recommend going to Club Amigo Atlantico Guardalavaca. It is not fancy but it worked well for us.
